Ariana Grande: Named Woman of the Year By Billboard!

Ariana Grande capped off what’s already been a legendary year by writing a new song to her exes.

She was the one with Big Dick Energy the whole time.

Billboard recognizes that, and has chosen Ari as their Woman of the Year. It’s a huge deal.

Billboard has announced that Ariana Grande is their 2018 Billboard Woman of the Year.

“Billboard’s 13th annual Women In Music event will take place December 6 in a return to New York City,” Billboard shared in a statement.

And they have already decided which music superstar they’ll be honoring at the event.

It was probably an easy decision to reach.

“And,” the statement says. “We can now officially announce Ariana Grande as our 2018 Billboard Woman of the Year.”

To quote Kim Kardashian: it’s what she deserves.

“2018 has been huge for Grande,” the statement continues.

Billboard says: “As the pop superstar launched Top 40 hits like ‘God Is A Woman,’ ‘Breathin,’ and ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ under the Billboard Hot 100.”

That announcement is a great reminder that “Goodnight N Go” is vastly underappreciated and maybe the most underrated song of her album.

Ariana had that success with singles “while seeing her album, Sweetener, hit #1 on the Billboard 200.”

“And earn the largest streaming week ever for a pop album by a female artist upon its release,” Billboard raves.

“Grande’s remarkable year transcended the charts,” Billboard points out.

That is an understatement.

“As she used her voice to support worthwhile causes, as well,” the statement notes.

“She participated in March For Our Lives in support for gun control legislation,” Billboard continues.

“And,” the statement says. “Has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness.”

This was a very timely thing to mention, because Ariana had just spoken on the subject.

Billboard cites that, just the day before their announcement, Ariana had responded to a fan tweet with a powerful message.

“In all honesty,” Ariana wrote to a fan. “Therapy has saved my life so many times.”

“If you’re afraid to ask for help, don’t be,” she encourages her followers.

Ariana promises: “You don’t have to be in constant pain and you can process trauma.”

Having both witnessed and survived a sickening terrorist attack just last year, Ariana knows the impact of trauma.

“i’ve got a lot of work to do,” Ariana admits. “But it’s a start to even be aware that it’s possible.”

Billboard was clearly impressed.

And Ariana has done so much more.

“Grande also helped organize the One Love Manchester benefit concert in response to aid the victims of the Manchester arena bombing,” the statement mentions.

That benefit was one “which was broadcast to 50 countries and raised more than $ 23 million.”

“With this year’s honor,” Billboard continues. “Grande now joins the likes of past Woman of the Year recipients: Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.”

Those music legends make for some very fine company.

Billboard concludes: “The ceremony and red carpet pre-show will be broadcast live on Twitter from 7 to 10pm Eastern on December 6.”

Obviously, awards are only as valued as those who receive them.

Ariana is at the absolute top of her industry. She’s a living legend and she has been for years.

Her latest single, “Thank You, Next” surpassed expectations and smashed records on its own.

We are thankfully every day that we have the privilege of living at the same time as unsurpassed talents like Ariana.

Pete Davidson Makes Worst Joke of the Year on SNL

Heading into Saturday Night Live this weekend, a nation waited with anticipation over what Pete Davidson would say about his break-up with Ariana Grande.

The comedian and the singer dated for a whole few weeks earlier this summer prior to getting engaged, public displaying tons of affection — and then splitting about four months later.

Grande was so prepared for some jab at her expense on air that she actually released a track just before SNL aired that beat Davidson to the punch, referencing him and other exes as well.

So… what did Davidson say about the pop singer during his stint on Weekend Update?

"I know some of you are curious about the break-up, but the truth it"s nobody"s business, and sometimes things just don"t work out, and that"s OK," he told viewers, concluding of Grande:

"She"s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now please, go vote on Tuesday."

That was it, meaning Davidson avoided controversy and actually came across looking very well, right?

Oh, no. Oh, so VERY wrong.

Earlier in the segment, Davidson sat behind the Weekend Update desk and mocked the appearance of a congressional candidate whose eye was destroyed while he served in Afghanistan.

"This guy is kinda cool, Dan Crenshaw," Davidson said alongside a photo Crenshaw, a Republican.

He continued:

"You may be surprised to hear he"s a congressional candidate from Texas, and not a hit man in a porno movie."

"I"m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever," he added. "Whatever."

Not exactly whatever, Pete, the entire Internet basically said at once.

You thought it was worth making a pirate joke at a veteran"s expense simply because he wears an eye patch?

That"s both offensive and just plain lazy.

"Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended," Crenshaw himself Tweeted in response.

"That being said,  I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes."

There was also this response from National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jack Pandol:

"Getting dumped by your pop star girlfriend is no excuse for lashing out at a decorated war hero who lost his eye serving our country.

"Pete Davidson and NBC should immediately apologize to Dan, and to the millions of veterans and military families who tune in every weekend — because they"re not laughing."

As of this writing, neither Davidson nor NBC has issued said apology.

Tyler Baltierra: I Had a Mental Breakdown Last Year, Too!

2017 was not a great time for the Baltierra family.

And that’s a pretty huge understatement.

Lots and lots of things happened for Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra last year, and it seems like not a whole lot of them were great.

Tyler’s father, Butch, kicked off the year dealing with his lifelong drug addiction, but thankfully he did check into a longterm rehab.

As far as we know, he’s still doing well, so that’s something.

Amber, Tyler’s sister, checked into rehab too with problems of her own.

Hopefully she’s doing as well as their father is!

As far as family stuff goes, those are clearly some pretty big ups and downs.

But nothing affected Catelynn and Tyler as badly as her miscarriage did.

As we saw last season on Teen Mom OG, the longtime couple made the decision last year to try for another baby.

They already had Carly, the girl Catelynn got pregnant with when they were teenagers, the one they placed for adoption.

And in 2015, they welcomed Nova, another darling little girl.

But after Nova was born, Cate suffered from severe postpartum depression.

It eventually got so bad that she checked into a treatment center, but even after leaving there, her depression persisted.

At some point early last year though, things started to turn around, and like we said, they decided the time was right to have another baby.

She got pregnant pretty soon after they started trying to conceive, and they quickly shared the news with family.

Then the miscarriage happened.

We didn’t see too much of it on the show, which is good.

As reality stars, they share a lot of themselves, but some things should stay private.

During one segment, we did see Tyler explaining what happened, and he was clearly broken up about it.

Catelynn, however, began contemplating suicide, so she checked into that treatment center once again.

We all know what happened after that — she completed six weeks of treatment, went home for a bit, then went back for six more weeks of treatment.

As difficult a time as she had then, things are looking up now.

She’s pregnant again, and she and Tyler both seem to be really excited about it.

But in a new interview, Tyler got really, really candid about how difficult things got last year, particularly with the miscarriage.

And man, is it rough to hear.

He calls the miscarriage a “traumatic loss” and admits that it was “very emotionally intense,” but he says that his first reaction was to tend to Catelynn.

“I ran to her, held her,” he recounts. “We cried. We just held each other for probably two hours and cried.”

“That was our way of kind of letting go and accepting reality for what it is.”

“From a guy’s perspective,” he continues, clarifying that he doesn’t mean “to sound sexist,” but “it’s almost more acceptable for a woman to break down and be emotional.”

“But I swear, as a man, when I walked away from Cate and I didn’t have to be so strong, I was breaking down every single day.”

When she went away to get treatment, he says “I was taking Nova to school and just crying every single day.”

“I’m assuming a lot of women do the same thing. It’s just not really talked about a lot with men.”

It’s heartbreaking to hear all of this, but there’s one thing that helped him cope, and that was his daughter.

Tyler says that “Seeing Nova and realizing that I can’t sit here and sulk in my pity” got him through the difficult time.

“I’ve gotta be strong, engage with my daughter, play with her, take her to the park.”

“I still had a job to do of raising her around the happiest environment I could make for her,” he explains.

“I kind of felt that she was my motivation to keep strong, looking at her and saying, ‘I did lose this child, but look at this beautiful child I’ve got now."”

As touching as it is, he adds that Nova “helped me push myself forward and keep going.”

During that time, Tyler says that he’d put his daughter to bed, then “go in my room and cry about it.”

For him, it was important not to hide his emotions from her, but it was also important not to break down in front of her, either.

From where we’re sitting, it looks like handled the situation well.

In the newest clip of Catelynn and Tyler on Teen Mom OG, the one where they tell Nova they’re having a baby, she looks like a very happy little girl.

Hopefully, in other scenes, we’ll see more happiness from them.

After all they’ve been through, they definitely deserve it!
