Ariana Grande Obliterates Spotify Records with "Thank U, Next"
Just weeks after ending her engagement to Pete Davidson, Ariana Grande dropped a new single, “Thank U, Next.”
The powerful anthem, a tribute to her exes, is smashing music records.
Its lyrics have also inspired November’s hottest meme.
Billboard Woman of the Year Ariana Grande keeps setting new records only to surpass them.
In recent days, she’s been doing it with the same song, as she shared on Instagram.
“Thank u, next has surpassed 100 MILLION streams on spotify in only 11 days,” reads a graphic shared on social media.
The graphic puts that in perspective: “it is the fastest song in HISTORY to reach this milestone.”
Ariana shared the image with a very grateful black heart emoji in the captions.
Keep in mind that that’s only her Spotify success.
It doesn’t include people listening on YouTube — or pirating it.
Her record-smashing feat doesn’t include people using other streaming services.
It also doesn’t include those of us who eschew streaming music and instead immediately purchased it from iTunes or Amazon.
Part of the appeal is that it’s a beautiful song.
The song’s real meaning also contributed to its success.
“Thank U, Next” is an anthem to Ariana’s exes — to three, in particular.
Ariana had an 8-month relationship with Big Sean from 2014 to 2015.
“Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match,” Ariana sings.
Starting in the summer of 2015, Ariana dated backup dancer Ricky Alvarez for about a year.
“Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh,” Ariana sings.
Famously, Ariana got engaged to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson, and broke things off in October.
“Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful,” Ariana’s lyrics affirm.
On a sadder note, she dated Mac Miller for two years starting in 2016. He died just a few months ago.
“Wish I could say, ‘Thank you’ to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel,” Ariana sings bittersweetly.
“Thank U, Next” appeals to people as a song and as an athem.
Some can relate in their own lives — they really appreciate their past loves and past relationships.
Others are just Ariana Grande fans and love to hear how at peace she is with her romantic past.
But it’s more than just a song, folks. It’s a meme.
For ages now, social media has been filled with “one taught me love, one taught me patience, one taught me pain” posts.
These posts, quoting lyrics from Ariana’s song, can do everything from critique three films or three characters or three condiments.
Of course, Ariana’s release of this song such a short time after ending her relationship with Pete Davidson has fueled conspiracy theorists.
There are people in the world who believes that all celebrity activities, from relationships to their art to overdoses and deaths, are a scripted facade.
These are the same people who use words like “illuminati” and “Deep State” with total sincerity.
So they think that for some unknowable reason, Ariana and Pete were “ordered” by, like, Beyonce or George Soros to get engaged, then split.
According to this admittedly hilarious theory, Ariana had this song prepared and mixed for whenever they were ordered to break up.
Why? Maybe, like, mind-control embedded in the song. It did release right before election day!
Ariana being a talented and passionate musician with the resources to pull together a song quickly is apparently too simple of an explanation.
There is a glaring omission from Ariana’s song — her ex Graham Phillips.
They performed together on Broadway along with current Dynasty star Elizabeth Gillies.
You might know Graham from The Good Wife or from his more recent appearance on Riverdale as a seriously awful dude.
Our guess is that the fact that they dated in 2011, when Ariana was mostly just known as a Nickelodeon star, is a factor.
Also, she probably just views Graham as a friend whom she once dated. There’s a difference between that and an “ex.”
In case you were wondering if there was bad blood, we looked into it and found no evidence of hard feelings.
In fact, they staged a mini-reunion this past summer with another former castmate.
Ariana was probably right to narrow her scope of exes to a handful.

Hailey Baldwin: Thank You, God, for Justin Bieber!
While a majority of the free world continues to sit back in paralyzing shock over the engagement of Justin Bieber to Hailey Baldwin, the woman with whom this handsome singer wants to spend the rest of his life has a different emotion.
Baldwin isn’t stunned.
She’s simply gracious.
For the first time since news of her plans to marry went public, Baldwin has commented on her relationship, her future and, of course, her fiance.
“Not sure what I did in life to deserve such happiness but I am so utterly grateful to God for giving me such an incredible person to share my life with!” the model wrote on Twitter last night, adding a heart emoji and concluding:
“No words could ever express my gratitude.”
It sure does sound like someone is head over heels in love, doesn’t it?
We’ll be honest:
We never would have imagined Baldwin and Bieber arriving at this place when they started grinding all up on each other while naked in bed three-plus years ago.
They seemed very casual about their fling back then.
But sources have confirmed that the artist and his betrothed stayed in close touch even after they split and then found their way back into each other’s arms about eight weeks ago.
Based on Baldwin’s above quote and the previous chatter about how Hailey and Justin attended church together, it’s apparent they’ve been bonding over something aside from sex.
They’ve been bonding over the power of faith and religion as well.
Wrote Bieber earlier on Monday, in his first remarks since taking himself off the market:
“Plain and simple Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you! So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindLY.”
It sure does sound like someone else is also head over heels in love, doesn’t it?
Bieber proposed to Baldwin on Saturday night in the Bahamas.
He reportedly did so in front of a crowd of party-goers, with Justin having made arrangements for the engagement ring a few weeks earlier in New York City.
An insider told E! News that Baldwin was “taken off guard” by the act, but clearly not in a bad way.
Justin, meanwhile, had plenty more to say in his heartfelt Instagram post yesterday.
While we continue to process this engagement, we’ll just go ahead and give him the floor:
I promise to lead our family with honor and integrity letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make. My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first!
You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else.
You make me so much better and we compliment eachother so well!! Can’t wait for the best season of life yet!. It’s funny because now with you everything seems to make sense!
The thing I am most excited for is that my little brother and sister get to see another healthy stable marriage and look for the same!!!
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are engaged. So are Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson. Both face a chorus of critics doubting that it can possibly last, so we ask: Which duo is more likely to?! View Poll »
Gods timing really is literally perfect, we got engaged on the seventh day of the seventh month, the number seven is the number of spiritual perfection, it’s true GOOGLE IT!
Isn’t that nuts? By the way I didn’t plan that, anyways My goodness does feel good to have our future secured! WERE GONNA BE BETTER AT 70 BABY HERE WE GO!
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains FAVOR from the Lord!” This is the year of favor!!!!
This all sounds perfect and romantic and meant to be.
But will Justin and Hailey actually make it down the aisle?
THAT’s the question, people.

Wait, Did Taylor Swift Just Thank Kim Kardashian?!?
Taylor Swift is back, folks.
In every sense of the word.
The singer kicked off her Reputation Tour on Tuesday night in Phoenix, meaning she"s back in the music business.
But she"s also back in the celebrity gossip realm, as Katy Perry actually reached out to Swift earlier this week, sending her a literal olive branch and ending their feud.
However, while this rivalry appears to be dead, the bad blood (get it?!?) between Swift and Kim Kardashian remains.
As we"re sure you recall, Kardashian and Kanye West exposed Swift as at least somewhat of a liar about two years ago, posting a phone conversation between Taylor and Kanye in which the former was caught in a fib.
She granted West permission to sort of mock her in his track "Famous," despite protesting this mockery in public after the song came out.
At one point in her passive aggressive takedown of Swift, Kardashian described the artist with a snake emoji.
Since then, Swift has adopted the snake emoji as her own, using it to fight back against all haters.
And this brings us to the opening night of her new tour.
Aside from decorating the stage with various types of snakes, Swift sat at her piano prior to singing a song and said the following to attendees:
"A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. Then a lot of people were calling me a lot of things on social media and I went through some really low times for a while because of it.
"I went through some times when I didn"t know if I was going to get to do this anymore."
Swift never said Kardashian"s name, but she did continue as follows:
I wanted to send a message to you guys, that if someone uses name calling to bully you on social media, and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn"t have to defeat you.
It can strengthen you instead.
And I think something that came out of it that was good is that I learned a really important lesson that I"ve been telling you from the stage for about 10 years, but I never had to learn it so harshly myself, and that lesson has to do with how much you value your reputation.
I think the lesson is that you shouldn"t care so much if you feel misunderstood by a lot of people who don"t know you, as long as you feel understood by the people who do know you, the people who will show up for you, the people who see you as a human being.
So thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to get to know me, for seeing me as a human being.
Profound stuff.
Watch Swift touch on this subject below:

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 8 Episode 11 Recap: Thank You, Thuck You
Did Lisa Vanderpump, Dorit Kemsley, and Kyle Richards finally get some clarity on why they were arguing?
If they did, could they tweet as much to viewers because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to make sense of why they all hated each other?
On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 8 Episode 11, the division amongst the ladies continued to cause problems.
That’s what divisions do, but it’s difficult to care when we don’t actually know what’s going on to make all of these women so mad.
Would it be out of the realm of possibility for the producers to be lacing the alcohol these ladies consume by the gallon?
In any case, Lisa was still mad because Dorit was dragging her to the other women for being needy, or something.
But then there was Kyle who wanted to go along for the ride and make the argument last longer. The reason? Because she felt good old LVP held her to a higher standard than the others.
Sweetie, we all hold our BEST friends to a higher standard than the lower ones on the totem pole.
Despite things being awkward as hell, the ladies were all gearing up to attend a fashion show for some things at Kyle’s New York store.
Dorit decided it was time to extend the olive branch to Lisa Vanderpump, and she did so in predictable fashion.
“Things come out of my mouth,” Dorit said. Yeah, somehow, this woman always tries to get out of owning up to anything, and it’s pretty tiring.
Lisa countered that Dorit should not have been running her mouth to the ladies about what she told her about her childhood.
“I love you, mainly on the strength of loving your husband, and wanting to love you and make it right,” said the SUR boss who seemed like she genuinely wanted to move on.
Despite some back and forth, they managed to put their beef aside.
However, Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York was already on the warpath thanks to Kyle opening up about how Lisa treated her.
Bethenny wasted no time in opening her mouth, but LVP elegantly brushed her off and thanked Kyle for helping her the night before. See! Was it THAT difficult to say thanks?
In any case, Bethenny was probably upset because she was promised a fight by Andy Cohen or something. It was a big bust, and the rest of the event went on without a hitch.
Back in Beverly Hills, Kyle showed up at Lisa’s house for some fine dining. Lisa admitted that she did not want to lose her friendship with PK and that she wanted to just move on with her life.
“Let me ask you a question,” Kyle says: “Do you feel like anything’s at stake with us?”
Lisa admitted that she held her to a different standard because they are better friends.
“I made a mistake; there’s no buts, ifs, ands, or howevers. I am sorry that I neglected you; I didn’t realize you were that upset,” Lisa said to close of the episode.
What did you think of the episode?

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 8 Episode 6 Recap: Wham, Glam, Thank You Ma’am
Teddi Mellencamp was done putting up with Dorit Kemsley’s lies on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 8 Episode 6, and she set out to make her feelings known.
When the episode kicked off, Teddi was throwing a spa day for the ladies as a thank you for the girls bringing her Las Vegas for her birthday.
Teddi was quick to get to the point and asked Dorit to arrive an hour early because she wanted to have a chat with her. In the biggest surprise of the season, Dorit showed up on time.
Did hell freeze over? Nope, but Dorit looked smug as hell that she managed to show up on time. The ladies went around in circles as they debated about which time they were meant to meet.
It was tiring and petty, but things got exciting when they said the other was talking smack to the other cast members. In the end, they agreed to drop it, but that’s not to say they were friends.
In all honesty, their feud seems like one for the ages, and we still have a lot of episodes left to witness them duke it out.
When Camille Grammer arrived, Dorit felt like it was a good idea to kill two birds with one stone, and apologized for calling her a “stupid c–t.”
Camille wanted to let Dorit stew for a little and told her another shocking comment Dorit said that night.
“Camille, I want you to be a Godfather and put on a strap-on,” Camille recalled with a look of disgust.
While the two women put the past behind them, Camille took to her confessional to say that Dorit is not her type of woman and that she has no idea whether she could be friends with her.
This seems like another feud, and we’re loving every minute of it. The franchise is dull without feuds so keep ‘em coming.
Remember the big revelation that there was a lawsuit against Ken Todd for assault? Well, we finally got some much-needed insight into it.
The suit is from their former dog rescue partner, and the woman claimed that Ken got physical with her during a confrontation about the business.
As expected, Lisa denied the whole thing, and she seemed dead set on proving her husband’s innocence during the difficult time.
Lisa dished all about it to her best pal, Kyle Richards, but the two ladies also chatted about whether Lisa Rinna should be put on blast for bringing it up.
If you watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online, you will already know that Rinna brought the lawsuit up at a recent dinner party.
Vanderpump has been against Rinna in the past for the way she does things.
Ultimately, she decided to let Rinna off the hook because it was all over the media.
What do you think of all the latest drama?
Sound off below.

Jeremy and Audrey Roloff Thank Amy Roloff for Anniversary Dinner, Quash Feud Rumors
Hey, so remember how people wondered if Jeremy and Audrey Roloff were being distant from Amy Roloff after the birth of their child? And remember how we said, at the time, that no one should jump to conclusions?
We were right.
Not only is Amy Roloff still in contact with Jeremy and Audrey and their precious baby Ember Jean, but she helped them celebrate their anniversary.
Audrey and Jeremy Roloff have had their hands full — literally, we’re sure — ever since welcoming their newborn baby, Ember Jean, into this world and into their lives.
As exciting as a new addition to the Roloff family might be, babies are a lot of work.
(Children, in general, are a lot of work — it’s just the nature of the work that changes)
But Audrey and Jeremy also had their anniversary to keep in mind.
Last night, Audrey posted this reminder of that to Facebook:
“3 years ago today, I said ‘I do"” to the love of my life. But on that day I wasn’t just confessing my present love for Jeremy, I was promising my future love. Every year on our anniversary we rewatch our wedding video and reread our wedding vows.”
That sounds so sweet! Intense, but precious.
“It’s such a sweet time of reminiscing and realigning. ‘If it’s half as good as the half we’ve known, here’s hail to the rest of the road!’ Happy anniversary babe, I love you more.”
Audrey and Jeremy are very committed to each other and to, well, commitment.
Obviously, though, their role as parents always comes first, so they didn’t have time to plan anything elaborate.
That’s where Jeremy’s mother, Amy Roloff, stepped in.
Fans were concerned when the very hands-on and affectionate Amy Roloff didn’t immediately upload photos of herself with Ember Jean immediately after the birth.
Amy Roloff is a proud grandma, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t know how to give her son and daughter-in-law some social media space.
And it wasn’t like she’d ignored Ember’s birth.
The thing about Instagram is that just because it’s a photo-sharing app doesn’t mean that you’re supposed to only look at the pictures.
You’re supposed to read the captions, too.
Amy Roloff celebrated Ember Jean’s birth with a photo of some beautiful flowers and with this caption:
“And my baby granddaughter is here. I’m so so excited and happy for Jeremy and Audrey. I’m a grandma again. Ember Jean is beautiful. What a blessing. My heart is full of joy!!”
That didn’t stop haters from slamming Amy Roloff, but it was silly to assume that she and the couple had suddenly become estranged based on … what? … a lack of instant photos?
Jeremy shared Amy’s sweet gesture towards the couple that allowed them to celebrate their anniversary.
“My mom just brought us a nice, beautiful steak dinner ‘coz we got a baby. Thank you, mom.”
If you watch Little People, Big World, you know that Amy Roloff is a fantastic cook. That sounds like a wonderful meal.
“We’re gonna sit down and have a meal at our table, which we haven’t been able to do in a while.”
(Honestly, eating at the table is overrated, but if that’s their thing, hey, more power to them)
“But just because the baby’s young does not give us an excuse not to celebrate our anniversary.”
That’s a healthy approach to leading a balanced life. Putting the baby first doesn’t mean neglecting your marriage.
“Happy marriage, happy family. We’re trying to get started right this year.”
We’re glad that Amy could make that possible.
Honestly, the borderline conspiracy theories about Amy Roloff’s “absence” probably had less to do with busy parents not having time to give their mom a birthday shout-out over social media (though they probably, you know, still told Amy happy birthday) …
… And more to do with the fact that there’s a small but vocal group of Little People, Big World fans who don’t like Amy Roloff.
Maybe it’s because Amy Roloff and Matt Roloff are no longer together, and fans of the show are as attached to the idea of lifelong marriages as Audrey and Jeremy seem to be.
(Though that wouldn’t explain why people seem fine with Matt)
Maybe it’s because Amy Roloff has a boyfriend. Which, again, is a normal thing to do and not villainous.
Hey, maybe it’s because those fans’ hearts are three sizes two small. We just don’t know.
It seems clear that Jeremy and Audrey don’t feel that way. And that’s what matters.
We do look forward to seeing Amy get to spend grandma time with Ember as well as with Jackson.
