America"s Got Talent Season 13: Did the Right Contestant Win?

A magician never reveals his tricks.

But a magician has now revealed what it feels like to be crowned the winner of America’s Got Talent…

… because Shin Lim took home that honor on Wednesday night.

With 10 finalists battling it out on stage until the final vote, Season 13 came down to Lim and singing group Zurcaroh, with the self-taught 26-year old eventually coming out on top.

Much to his own complete shock.

“I can’t speak right now,” Lim said after he was named the champion and tackled his fellow finalists.

They all picked him up and put them on their shoulders after the announcement was made.

“When you told me at 16 that an awkward, shy kid would one day be performing at the Dolby Theatre performing on America’s Got Talent, I wouldn’t have believed them,” he added.

“To compete on AGT, it means the world to me.”

The very impressive magician not only took home the $ 1 million prize — but will also headline the America’s Got Talent Live stage at the Paris Theater in Las Vegas from November 2-4.

Lim’s parents hail from Singapore.

He was born in Canada and currently lives in Acton, Massachusetts and he blew viewers away through sleight of hand magic and close-up tricks.

For his finale, Lim performed a card trick with host Tyra Banks and American Ninja Warrior co-hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila.

At various points in the competition, Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell called Lim “the best close-up magician they have ever seen.”

(He’s second magician to win America’s Got Talent, following Mat Franco on Season 9.)

At age 20, four years after the started to learn the art of magic, Lim was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome.

This forced him to gave up his piano career, as he dropped out of the School of Music at Lee University in Tennessee and put all his time and effort into his aspiring magic career.

After perfecting a number of tricks simply by studying YouTube videos, Lim appeared twice on Penn Jillette and Teller’s magic competition show, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, in 2015 and 2017.

He also took his talents overseas, including gigs in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, and Taiwan.

After his victory, Lim said he took Cowell’s advice to heart and moved away from the card table to make his show appear even bigger and more dazzling.

He’s thankful to the judge for offering up this tidbit and pushing him toward the grand prize.

“I learned so much going away from the table. It’s harder because it’s something I’m uncomfortable with. So, I really feel like I now have the confidence to build on it,” he said.

The finale performance “was my way of growing as a magician, and I think I’m going to follow that path of getting bigger and having a full show.”

Congratulations to Shin Lim!

Do you think he deserved to win?

Or do you remain shocked that singer Courtney Hadwin didn’t go all the way?

Simonne Kerr, Britain"s Got Talent Finalist, Stabbed to Death in London

We have another heinous and tragic death to report from the world of reality television.

Just days after former E! star Lyric McHenry was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in New York City, police in Great Britain have confirmed the following piece of heartbreaking news…

Simonne Kerr, a finalist just this past season on Britain’s Got Talent, was stabbed to death in London on Wednesday afternoon.

She was 31 years old.

According to local authorities, law enforcement officials were called to a residential address at Grayshott Road in Battersea just around 12:30 p.m. on August 15.

Upon their arrival, these cops discovered that Kerr had suffered a grave knife wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The following day, a 40-year-old named Desmond Slyva was charged with her murder. His motives remain unclear at this time.

He appeared at Wimbledon magistrates court on Friday and did not enter a plea, according to The Guardian.

Police are not investigating any additional suspects, this same newspaper reports.

Kerr performed on Britain’s Got Talent back April as a member of NHS choir group B Positive, which was comprised of singers between the ages of 22 and 62.

Each of them has either been diagnosed with sickle cell anemia or have loved ones with sickle cell anemia.

It was a pretty cool story and it made significant headlines overeas at the time.

Kerr, who worked as a hematology and oncology nurse, joined the group in 2015 after her six-year-old son, Kavele, passed away from the disease.

This is a photo of Kerr and Kavele, both of whom are sadly no longer with us:

The inspiring group advaned all the way to the show’s finale in June, but were ultimately bested by the eventual winner, Lost Voice Guy.

Following the news of Kerr’s awful death, the choir posted a message to Twitter that reads:

Our thoughts are with Simonne’s family at this tragic time. She was a valued member of the B Positive choir who was passionate about blood donation following the loss of her son.

We are devastated at the loss of a well-loved choir member and friend.

In regard to her son, her singing and her motivation in life, Kerr once said the following to the NHS blog:

“I got to spend six wonderful years watching Kavele grow and though there were a handful of hospitalizations in his short life, I was positive that he would live a full life into adulthood.

“I lost him in 2015 …

“Singing can be such an uplifting experience so joining the B Positive choir seemed the obvious way to raise awareness of the urgent need for more young and black people to give blood while doing something positive and motivational.”

John James, the chief executive of Britain’s Sickle Cell Society also Tweeted in response to this tragedy, writing:

“So so shocked to hear that our friend, Sickle Cell Society volunteer and B-Positive Choir member Simonne Kerr has been tragically killed. In shock.

“My thoughts are with her mother, siblings and other family members.”

May Simonne Kerr rest in peace.

Neal Boyd Dies; America"s Got Talent Winner Was 42

Neal Boyd, the popular opera singer who won America’s Got Talent Season 3, was found dead on Sunday in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was 42 years old.

According to the Scott County Coroner, per E! News, Boyd passed away at his mother’s home at 6:26 p.m. yesterday.

His mom reportedly found him unresponsive and call 911.

Paramedics later arrived on the scene and performed their tests, only pronounce him deceased a short while later.

Having delved into the issue of this artist’s health, E! News reports that Boyd had been seeing numerous doctors over the past few months and week.

He was in heart failure, kidney failure, and had liver disease.

E! also writes that has been cremated.

“Neal was on a CPAP machine and when EMS got there, they put the monitor on him and confirmed he was deceased,” the coroner continued told People Magazine, adding that “Neal had some medical issues.”

Born and raised in Sikeston, Boyd developed his surprising passion for opera music when he was in middle school.

He graduated from high school in 1994 and proceeded to earn a degree in speech communications at Southeast Missouri State University, along with a degree in music at the University of Missouri—Columbia.

In 2009, after coming out on top on America’s Got Talent, Boyd released his debut album, “My American Dream.”

The album debuted at number three on the Top Classical Albums chart.

Boyd also ran for an empty seat in the Missouri House of Representatives as a Republican in 2011 and actually sang the national anthem at the 2012 Republican National Convention as well.

The Scott County Coroner told People that given “the history of his medical condition, there was no reason” to perform an autopsy.

“Like I said, he had a number of health issues, and a lot of that would be attributed to Neil’s weight,” the coroner added.

Tweeted former America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan upon learning of Boyd’s fate:

“Very sad to hear that Neal Boyd, Season 3 winner of ⁦@AGT⁩, has died at 42 from heart failure. Lovely guy with a wonderful voice. RIP.”

In an interview with the Southeast Missourian published in February, Boyd described a serious car accident in which he had recently been involved as being “a very, very, very bad wreck,” adding that he “shattered a lot of bones and shattered my hip, which has left me almost unable to use that leg for now.”

But the singer tried to remain hopeful.

In addition to focusing on his “slow” recovery, Boyd told this publication that he was writing “uplifting” music for a new album, which was scheduled to be released in 2019.

May he rest in peace.

America"s Got Talent Recap: Who Won Season 12?

America’s Got Talent crowned another winner last night, but with ten finalists still in the mix, it was hard to pick just one winner because they had all made it so far.

Who managed to turn the tables in their favor with one last performance?

Scroll down to find out!

There were a lot of showstopping moments as the top 10 took to the stage to perform one last time to sway votes their way.

Kechi and Angelica Hale showed off their high notes by performing “What Doesn’t Kill You” by Kelly Clarkson. And, of course, Kelly joined them on stage to join in on the fun.

Kelly is a true example of America voting for the best singers, so it was a good move to bring her onto the show to perform her newest hit and prove she still has staying power after all these years.

Diavolo then performed one final time for the audience, and they did their thing to “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles. Yes, we’re still not sure why that song is so catchy, but Diavolo showed off that it was a good one to dance along to.

Light Balance appeared on the stage before Derek Hough emerged from one of the light-up suits, so it was a fun-filled dance that kept viewers firmly on their toes.

Then, Mandy Harvey took to the stage with Shania Twain to belt out “You’re Still The One.” Shania has long had some of the most addictive music around, so we were ecstatic she stayed along to sing “Life’s About To Get Good.”

Next up was Darci Lynn who got to hit up the big stage with Season 2 winner, Terry Fator. Yes, they were awesome together and should probably collaborate in future.

Evie Clair then took to the stage with James Arthur, and they even went with one Evie’s original songs, so that must have been a huge confidence boost.

James then performed “Say You Won’t Let Go” with Chase Goehring, and we loved it just as much as the original song.

We then found out that

Chase Goehring, Evie Clair, Diavolo, Preacher Lawson, and Kechi had missed out on a spot in the top five.

But how did the rest of the results pan out?

  • Sara & Hero finished in fifth place.

  • Mandy Harvey finished in fourth place.

  • Light Balance finished in third place.

  • Angelica Hale finished in second place.

That winner of America’s Got Talent 2017 is Darci Lynn!

It was a long and winding road, but Darci Lynn deserved to win the whole thing.

What do you think about her big win?

Sound off below!

This America’s Got Talent Singer is Deaf. And Amazing.

No water was thrown on the set of America"s Got Talent on Tuesday night.

But jaws were definitely dropped.

About six weeks after Mandy Harvey first took the stage on this NBC reality show, the deaf singer performed in the quarterfinals, hoping to take yet another step closer to winning it all.

(Yes, Harvey really is deaf.)

The aspiring singer-songwriter lost her hearing at the age of 18 due to a connective tissue disorder, but she refuses to let this condition get in the way of her dreams.

"When I lost my hearing, music died. I lost my way of communicating. And my parents were the ones who encouraged me to find music again," Harvey said in a pre-recorded package before her live performance at the Dolby Theater this week.

"I was told for such a long time that you had to have hearing to enjoy music.

"But I"ve found that music was meant to be felt. Feeling everything move – feeling the song through the floor, feeling my voice."

Harvey earned a Golden Buzzer for her debut audition, along with the admiration of viewers everywhere.

Standing by herself with nothing but her ukulele in this case, the 29-year-old poured her heart with a lovely, original ballad titled "Mara"s Song," which she wrote for her close friend"s wedding.

There is so much I could say to you – so much I want to say," Simon Cowell said in response.

"But your music, and you, says it all. All I"m gonna say is you are and you will make a difference. That was stunning."

Added Heidi Klum:

"There was no backing track, there was no production around it. It was just you, your beautiful voice, your ukulele, and it was very powerful."

This really was a unique performance…

… but a unique individual.

Watch it for yourself – and prepare to stand up and clap immediately afterward.
