Kanye West Announces Surprise Show, Nearly Destroys NYC in the Process

Remember that Kim Kardashian nude photo that was meant to break the Internet?

It’s pretty much impossible to forget, isn’t it?

Well… Kim’s husband’s nearly broke New York City on Sunday night, without even trying.

After performing a short set at the Hot 97 Summer Jam earlier in the evening, Kanye announced yesterday that he would take the stage at a surprise show at Webster Hall.

The gig was scheduled for 2 a.m. and meant to make up for the Governor’s Ball, which was canceled due to inclement weather.

However, The Big Apple’s East Village descended into a near-riot as a result, with fans flooding the streets and sidewalks in a desperate attempt to get into the venue.

Via Twitter, here is a look at the scene late Sunday night:

Within an hour, the show was sold out, but that didn’t stop an endless array of human being from trying to get in.

Amidst reports on social media of injuries and dangerous conditions, West jumped on Kardashian’s snapchat and seemed to ask Mayor Bill de Blasio to legally shut the streets so the fans who didn’t have access to the concert could safely party outside.

Yup, he really did that.

In the end, however, this request was denied and the show had to be called off.

“There is no late show at Webster Hall tonight. Please get home safely,” the venue Tweeted around 2 a.m., as someone on a loudspeaker delivered the same message in person.

Those who remained did get a glimpse of Kanye, however.

He drove through the street very early this morning with his head poking out of the sunroof car. You know, like the Pope.

Perhaps Kim was right in forbidding Kanye from going on tour. Someone might get killed one of these days trying to see him.

Kylie Jenner: Freaking Out Over Wildfire in Calabasas!

A wildfire struck the community of Calabasas, California yesterday, and Kylie Jenner was right in the thick of it.

In a series of Snapchat posts, the young Jenner appeared to be terrified about the fire.

"There"s a fire next to my house!" she exclaims in the background of the first snap, depicting a rising cloud of smoke behind her home.

Kylie just moved into a new $ 6 million mansion in the Hidden Hills, adjacent Calabasas and down the street from mom Kris Jenner and sister Kim Kardashian.

In a second snap, she asks whether she will have to evacuate her home.

The fire, which has torched more than 500 acres so far, has forced the evacuation of about 3,700 homes in the area, according to CNN.

Kylie"s sister Khloe Kardashian saw the post and replied with a snap of her own, featuring a close-up view of the smoke from her own house.

"No, Kylie, you won"t have to evacuate, because it"s closer to my house than yours, sadly," said Khloe. "So let"s pray nobody has to evacuate."

Kylie continued to share videos of the billowing smoke as she grew increasingly more nervous.

"This is our city. We were born and raised in Calabasas," she told fans. "This can not go down!"

The affluent region of Los Angeles county is home to a number of celebrities, including Jessica Simpson, Katie Holmes and Justin Bieber.

Yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres Instagrammed a photo of a firefighter, her wife Portia de Rossi"s brother, thanking the team for their work.

"Sending thanks to Portia"s brother, Michael and all the firefighters & rescue workers on the scene of this dangerous fire in Calabasas," she wrote.

Kris Jenner reposted the pic, thanking the firefighters for keeping them safe.

Demi Lovato & Wilmer Valderrama: The TRUTH Behind Their Breakup!

Over the weekend, we learned that yet another Hollywood romance had bitten the dust.

After six years together, Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama announced they were splitting up.

The couple made the announcement on social media with the following message:

“After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends.

“We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years.”

Despite their marked age difference – Valderrama is 36 and Lovato 23 – fans had gotten used to the two of them together and suspected all was well.

But a source now reveals the reason for the split.

“[Demi and Wilmer] both were not in a rush to get married, they both were not in a rush to have kids and they thought that would change even when their close friends were doing all of that,” the source told HollywoodLife.

“But the fact that they didn’t have the urge to get married and have kids really got them talking on if it was worth continuing the relationship,” continued the insider.

“And that is when they realized being best friends was the best option for them.”

Well, if both of them realized they wanted the exact same thing – i.e., not to get married and have kids – that actually sounds like the perfect reason to stay together to me.

Or could it be that they do want marriage and children – just not with each other?

Earlier this year, Lovato discussed the possibility of an engagement to Valderrama on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“I don’t see a ring,” the singer told the host. “I wouldn’t mind if I saw one, but there’s time for everything.”

J.K. Rowling Slams Racists, Defends Casting of Black Actress as Hermione in Harry Potter Play

J.K. Rowling is frustrated that “a bunch of racists” have criticized the choice of casting a black actress to portray Hermione in the London stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The play, which sold 175,000 tickets in 24 hours, stars Olivier-award-winning actress Noma Dumezweni as Hermione, the female lead in the literary series.

After critics lashed out about the casting announcement, Rowling defended the decision.

“With my experience of social media, I thought that idiots were going to idiot,” the author told the Observer.

“But what can you say? That’s the way the world is. Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job.”

Rowling recounts fans complaining to her, arguing that the character must be white because of something she wrote in one of the books.

“I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ – that is, lost colour from her face after a shock – that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with,” Rowling revealed.

“But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.”

Fans may have gotten too attached to Emma Watson, a white actress who originated the role onscreen in the feature films.

Last December, Rowling expressed her approval on Twitter over the casting as well, indicating that her books never specified Hermione as Caucasian.

“Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione,” she wrote on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time Rowling has vocally expressed her distaste of racism and bigotry.

Last year, after presidential candidate Donald Trump made numerous statements against Muslims, Mexicans and women, Rowling compared the mogul to Voldemort, the nefarious villain in the Harry Potter series.

“How horrible. Voldemort was nowhere near as bad,” she wrote alongside a link to an article about Trump’s wish to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child picks up where the seventh book left off, with Harry as a married father of three who works for the Ministry of Magic.

The play is set to open in London’s West End in July 2016.
