Gay Men"s Chorus Pays Beautiful Tribute to Orlando Shooting Victims

Words sometimes fail, but the power of music sends a powerful message of love and hope.

This was the case on June 13th, one day after the largest mass shooting in U.S. history left 50 dead, including the gunman responsible, Omar Mateen.

The tragedy took place after 2am E.T. at Pulse, an Orlando, FL gay nightclub that was celebrating "Latin Night."  Mateen opened fire with an assault rifle inside the venue, causing mass pandemonium as patrons scrambled for the nearest exit.

As stories of heroism and bravery emerge, the New York Gay Men"s Choir took center stage in Times Square this morning to perform "Light," from the Broadway play, Next To Normal.

The spectacularly moving tribute was featured on Good Morning America as the show"s reporters delivered the broadcast from the scene in Orlando.

Some of the lyrics from the song include:

“When we open up our light/Sons and daughters, husbands, wives/Can fight that fight.”

"Day after day/We’ll find the will to find our way/Knowing that the darkest skies will someday see the sun.”

"And when they night has fin"ly gone, And when we see the new day dawn, We"ll wonder how we wandered for so long, so blind.

"The wasted world we thought we knew— The light will make it look brand new."

As the men sang, images of people memorializing the tragedy appeared on screen.

Gay, straight, up, down, left, right – none of it matters when faced with the loss of a friend or family member.

So, this morning, we were all looking for some light.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer put it best: "We will not be defined by the act of a cowardly hater," he said in a press conference.

"We will be defined by how we respond."

Watch the beautiful performance below, and keep the victims of the Orlando shooting in your thoughts and prayers.

Leah Messer & Jenelle Evans: Are They QUITTING Teen Mom 2?!

As we reported last week, Leah Messer and Jenelle Evans are not happy with MTV and the producers of Teen Mom 2.

Both women have accused the show of manipulating scenes to make them look like inept mothers.

Following an incident in which she was accused of negligent parenting, Leah slammed the show’s editors in an angry Twitter rant.

Just last week, Jenelle took to social media to complain to fans that the show is edited to maximize drama and make her look like a bad mother.

Showrunner Morgan J. Freeman responded to Leah and Jenelle’s allegations and insisted that the TM2 crew neither intervenes in the events that transpire on the show nor edits the footage to give viewers a false impression of what occurred.

It seems the show’s disgruntled stars weren’t satisfied with that response, however.

Evans has spoken about her plans to quit, and while the show’s been her primary source of income throughout her adult life, the 24-year-old’s notorious temper might lead her to make good on that threat.

Messer is less prone to fits of rage, but the show’s most recent season was tremendously hard on the young mother of three.

At several points during the season, she was the subjected to vitriolic attacks from fans who believe her to be an unfit, negligent mother.

Leah has expressed a desire to return to private life on several occasions in the past, and many fans now believe she’ll soon part ways with the series that made her famous.

In fact, there are rumors that one or both of the ladies will announce their departure on tonight’s season 7 reunion show.

That seems unlikely, as the episode was taped well before the tiff with Freeman took place.

So while the announcement probably won’t happen tonight, we wouldn’t be surprised if Evans or Messer decide not to return for an eighth season.

And if producers are left with the option of only depicting them in a flattering light or simply moving on without them, they’ll most likely choose the latter.

Omar Mateen: What Did the FBI Know About the Orlando Shooter?

Omar Mateen has been identified as the Orlando shooter who took the lives of over 50 people on Saturday night.

We now know that Mateen used an assault rifle to kill an incomprehensible number of patrons at a gay Florida nightclub called Pure.

He also took a number of individuals hostage before police broke into the establishment and Mateen was killed in a shootout around 5 a.m. local time.

But what do we actually know about Omar Mateen?

He was a U.S. citizen who was born in New York and who, according to his ex-wife, was an abusive husband.

His parents are of Afghan descent and his father is on record as saying he thinks Mateen committed this unspeakable crime because he was grossed out recently upon seeing two gay men kiss.

We also know that Mateen called 911 on Saturday night to brag about his killing and align himself with ISIS.

But what did the FBI know about Omar Mateen prior to these fatal acts?

The answer to that question is chilling.

Via press conference, FBI official Ronald Hopper has said that Mateen has been on the organization’s radar for years.

In 2013, Matten made “inflammatory comments to coworkers,” – presumably terrorism related – which prompted the FBI to investigate and interview him.

Mateen was also investigated by the FBI in 2014, over alleged ties to American suicide bomber Moner Mohammad Abusalha, the agency has confirmed.

Because the FBI could not produce any evidence against Mateen as it related to his terrorist ties, these investigations were closed and Mateen was left to live freely.

Still… despite these rumored terrorist affiliations, Mateen had purchased a “long gun” and a handgun within a week of the Orlando attack, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says.

The weapons were purchased legally.

Since the heinous attack, ISIS has come out and claimed responsibility for the actions.

We’ll continue to share more news regarding this horrible tragedy as it breaks.
