Toya Wright Loses Brothers to Drive-By Shooting in New Orleans

Toya Wright is in mourning at the moment.

We can’t imagine that the reality star and her family are going through.

On Sunday morning, a little after midnight, police have reported that two young men were shot multiple times inside a car in the city’s 7th Ward.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Although authorities are yet to release their names, Wright’s family has confirmed that they were the reality star’s brothers, Rudy and Josh Johnson.

Wright, best known for an appearance on VH1’s Marriage Boot Camp and for her own 2011 series, Toya: A Family Affair, took to Instagram to send the following message.

“Help me Lord,” she wrote along with a photo of her siblings. “I will never understand this.”

She added the hashtags #stoptheviolence #ineverfeltpainlikethisbefore #riptomybrothers #icantbelievethis #prayformyfamily.

This devastating news comes just three days after Wright filed for divorce from her husband, Mickey “Memphitz” Wright, following five years of marriage.

She was previously married to rapper Lil Wayne from February 2004 to January 2006.

Wright and Lil Wayne she share a 17-year-old daughter named Reginae Carter.

Wright is a native of New Orleans and has also penned a book titled “Priceless Inspiration.”

She owns boutique called G.A.R.B. in this famous Louisiana city, along with GARB Shoetique in Smyrna, Georgia, and was in Baton Rouge at the timing of the killings for an appearance at Allure Night Club & Ultra Lounge.

Along with Wright’s above message, daughter Reginae wrote the following on Instagram in response to the stunning development:

“I lost two of my uncles last night I’m speechless . I’m hurt . I’m devastated . What in the world is going on in this world ?”

Hip hop star Trina also sent her love to Wright, Tweeting:

“I’m praying for @ToyaWright her mom and her family during this horrible tragedy. My heart is heavy. Life is so short.”

Just hours after Wright lost two family members, Jessica Alba and Ne-Yo led a tribute at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards to the victims of gun violence.

Toward the end, Ne-Yo asked attendees to take a photo of those on stage and to include with it one of the same hashtags that Wright used above:

#StoptheViolence.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 12 Episode 12 Recap: Fear & Loathing in Cuba

Sunday on E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 12 Episode 12, the family journeyed to the formerly restricted country of Cuba.

Why did they travel there specifically, and what transpired in the controversial nation so few Americans have ever laid eyes upon in person?

If you watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians online, you don’t need a reminder that seeing these people abroad can be a little … well …

Let’s just say that you wouldn’t necessarily pick them as ambassadors if you wanted to project the best image of America to the world.

That being said, Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 12 Episode 12 was the great mindless entertainment we’ve come to expect.

In retrospect, anyway. At the time, Kourtney Kardashian was pretty stressed about contracting the Zika virus, the scourge of the tropics.

“I don’t mess with real bug spray, but I’m not taking a chance,” she said. “We, like, doused ourselves because I don’t wanna get the Zika.”

For her part, Khloe seemed resigned to her fate, or something, saying. “I’ve already been bitten and I have Zikia or whatever the f–k it is.”

Okay then. Good to know.

Life-threatening diseases and all, Khloe had a great time in Cuba, despite her ever-present stressed-out state regarding Lamar Odom.

When this was filmed – before Lamar was back on crack and possibly homeless – he was recovering from OD’ing and dependent on her.

Khloe was especially distraught over the fact that he had asked for money, fearing that he would simply use any funds to “run away.”

Or buy crack. Either/or.

“Every time I’d leave town when we were married this would happen,” she said, which is likely why you shouldn’t marry after a month.

Malika Haqq’s advice?

“You can’t control him. You wanna try to do the best, but, honey, if he wants to run himself back into the gutter, he’s gonna do just that.”

Pretty much.

Later, Khloe talked to Kanye and Kim about how Lamar’s life started going downhill after he stopped playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.

It’s an interesting theory, as it would be the first time in recorded history that anyone’s life has gotten worse since leaving the Clippers.

In any case, Kim was worried about her sister, saying, “I wish she wouldn’t put that much weight of this whole situation on her shoulders.”

“It just breaks my heart because it’s the same cycle all over again. It just really sucks,” she added, echoing what we’re all thinking here.

On a lighter note, Kanye revealed that he has a personal cameraman to the world, a random young guy hired to film him at all times.

Best. Internship. Ever.

“Kanye always has his eye out for a young generation of really creative people,” his loyal wife Kimberly explained to the E! audience.

As a result of that important mission, “Kanye’s been working with this young filmmaker who is videoing everything that Kanye is doing.”

In other ‘Ye news, he accused Kourtney of talking to him like a child … however, “that’s the way I like to be communicated with, anyway.”

The more you know.

Teen Choice Awards Honor Gun Violence Victims, Ask to #StopTheViolence

The Teen Choice Awards are not known as one of the more serious ceremonies in Hollywood.

This year’s version, for example was co-hosted by John Cena and Victoria Justice.

It also hands out surfboards instead of trophies and its categories include Choice AnTEENcipated Movie Actor and Choice Female Hottie.

Still, on Sunday evening, the 2016 Teen Choice Awards stopped and took a few moments to go from goofy to emotional.

Joined on stage by the loved ones of victims killed in recent shootings, Jessica Alba told their stories and the stories of the family members these people lost.

“Here with me tonight is a group of brave teenagers who share an unlikely bond that is hard to comprehend. They are the brothers, sisters, daughters and family members of recent victims of gun violence,” the actress said to open her speech.

“I am talking about Aurora, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Minneapolis, Orlando, San Bernardino, Newtown. It keeps happening, and it has to stop.”

Alba went on to say that each teenager on stage was connected to someone who died via gun violence.

It was tragic stuff to hear.

“J.T. [Lewis] was just like you, until he lost his 6-year-old little brother, Jesse Lewis, one of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in Newtown,” Alba said, adding more names to the list:

“Jolene and Colin wake up every day missing their mother, Bennetta Betbadal, who was one of the 14 people killed in San Bernardino.”

Some critics may say this was an inappropriate platform to use in order to send a political message.

But nearly anyone with a pulse had to be moved by the message anyway.

“Tonight we stand together with these teens, united in our call for peace and an end to this violence,” Alba said. “Now more than ever we need to stop, feel and ask what’s going on.”

From there, Ne-Yo took the stage to perform Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.”

As he sang this classic track, photos of gun-violence victims and their families flashed on a screen behind him.

Again, powerful stuff.

“These teens had the courage to come here and share their grief and take a stand,” Alba told the crowd after Ne-Yo performance. “And tonight, Ne-Yo and I and all of us here and all of you watching need to do the same.”

Ne-Yo then asked attendees to come together as one by snapping a picture of the teens on stage and Tweeting it with the hashtag “#StopTheViolence.”

This isn’t the first time this summer that an awards ceremony sent an emotional message in regard to ongoing violence affecting America.
