Selena Gomez Defends Taylor Swift: She"s Killing It!

When it comes to Kanye West’s recent criticism of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez really has just one response:

You gotta shake it off!

Late last week, of course, Kanye released a track in which he wondered whether he could have sex with Swift and also claimed that he made her famous by interrupting her on stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Kanye has since said those controversial lyrics were cleared by Swift before they went public…

… but Swift says otherwise.

What does Selena have to say about this scandal? Considering she’s best friends with Taylor Swift?

“Everybody has their own opinion,” Selena replied on SiriusXM Hits 1 over the weekend when asked about the rekindled feud between West and Swift.

“At the end of the day, you can just do what you do.”

That’s very vague and diplomatic.

What about Kanye’s assertion that he’s responsible for Swift’s wildly successful career?

“She’s killing it and she kind of always has been,” Selena said.

It is an ironic thing for West to allege, especially when you stop to realize that Swift was accepting the trophy for Best Video when Kanye broke into her speech six-plus years ago.

In other words: she had already made it big at the time.

A Swift spokesperson confirms that West and Swift talked before his new single went viral.

But she adds that Swift most definitely did not give the rapper any kind of approval, stating for the record:

“Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.

“Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous."”
