Kim Kardashian: Hey, I Have Talent!

Kim Kardashian has spoken out for the first time she was held captive and robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

Sort of.

In a 60 Minutes segment that was filmed prior to this horrible incident befalling the superstar, Kardashian spoke to correspondent Bill Whitaker.

She was featured as part of a story about how advertisers reach millennials in the social media age. And she gave some pretty revealing answers, most notably the one below:

Asked point blank how she responds to critics who claim she has no “talent,” Kim sat calmly and simply said this isn’t true.

And why not?

“It is a talent to have a brand that’s really successful off of getting people to like you for you,” she said on air. “I would think that has to involve some kind of talent, you know?”

While discussing how she uses such apps and inventions as Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, Kardashian did admit that she owes her wealth and fame to these platforms.

She’s learned how to master them over time.

“I totally attribute my career to social media,” she said, acknowledging that she would not be where she is today without these services.

In a somewhat eerie preview of the awful development that caused her to scream for her life a few weeks ago, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star also admitted at one point that there are “pitfalls” to her life.

Such as?

“Lack of privacy, loss of privacy – and that might not be for everyone,” she said.

It might not be for Kim anymore, even, considering how she plans to pull back from the spotlight after numerous assailants robbed her of millions of dollars worth of jewelry in France this month.

Most notably, they stole a ring gifted to Kardashian by husband Kanye West.

Featured in this close-up, the ring was worth $ 4.5 million.

Later in the interview, after Kardashian agreed that she has “monetized the act of living,” Whitaker asked, “The money’s not bad?”

Kim quickly responded with a smirk and the response of “Not bad.”

We’re assuming that’s a bit of an understatement… and we’re also assuming this is the sort of thing she’ll avoid talking about in the future.

Of course Kim isn’t to blame for what happened to her.

But she also has to now take proper precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen to her again. She has two little kids at home, after all.

While Kim herself has remained silent on the topic of her robbery, various family members have started to address the situation.

Khloe Kardashian, for example, appeared a guest on Ellen recently and said the following:

“I think it’s just a wake-up call to make a lot of life adjustments. This is a really serious matter for Kim. I think that’s really personal as to when that emotional terror you could move on from that.

“I think for us it’s all a wake-up call for all of us, but definitely just to make sure our sister’s OK.”

Amen. Even the harshest Kim Kardashian hater has to be wishing the reality star well these days.

She may deserve our mockery on occasion. But she did not deserve this.
