Green Day hates the Presidency and democracy and basically everything non-anarchist.
Still.
… As they"re slowly eking their way into their 50s.
A little embarrassing?
Yeah, kind of.
Despite all that, though, it didn"t prevent Green Day from promoting their anti-everything single, Bang Bang, on last night"s American Music Awards.
And you thought Selena Gomez"s "I"m broken" speech was enough to make you cry?
This will make you feel sad in an entirely different way, brother/sister.
The single comes from Revolution Radio, and the shock value or whatever is for real.
After performing Bang Bang, the trio broke into a chant of "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA."
Suffice it to say, the band definitely led the celebrity anti-Trump sentiment at last night"s awards show, though Trump himself has publicly admitted to being a "fan" of the group, and calling their musical American Idiot, brilliant.
Weird, okay.
Recently, Armstrong even compared Trump to Hitler, saying, "He [Trump] just said, "You have no options and I’m the only one, and I’m going to take care of it myself." I mean, that’s f—ing Hitler, man!"
The last time Green Day performed at the American Music Awards was in 2009, when they were probably still singing about George W. Bush, Green Day"s first nemesis.
Needless to say, the trio — together since the mid-eighties, believe it or not — were not nominated, nor did they win any awards at this year"s show.
But you know that"s not gonna stop them from promoting their political agenda at any and all events they"re invited to forever and ever amen, right?
Check out the video — is it super awesome, or is it just kind of super sad?
