Christina El Moussa has once again spoken out on her split from Tarek El Moussa.
Unlike her estranged husband and Flip or Flip co-host – who has remained mostly out of the spotlight ever since filing for divorce in January – Christina has been fairly regularly addressing her personal life with various media outlets.
Most notably, Christina sat down with People Magazine for a lengthy cover story on the topic last month.
“There’s a lot of false stories and a lot of hype, but in the end we’re just normal, nice people who just want to be the best parents and coworkers that we can be,” Christina told that publication at the time.
Among the rumors that have followed Christina and Tarek around since their separation:
- Tarek grabbed a gun and bolted for the woods after a fight with Christina in May (since confirmed).
- Christina dated family contracted Gary Anderson for several months after the break-up (since confirmed).
- Tarek often berated Christina on set, even joking about raping her on more than one occasion (not confirmed).
Parents to an 18-month old son named Brayden and a six-year old daughter named Taylor, Tarek and Christina suffered through communication problems after she had a miscarriage in 2014 and he was then diagnosed with cancer.
She told People that she returned to work too quickly after giving birth to Brayden and that the tension simply reached an untenable breaking point after awhile.
“It is what it is and we are going through a divorce and eventually we will be dating other people,” she told the magazine, adding:
“I’m happy for him and whatever steps he takes in his life and I just hope he’s happy.”
Now, in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Christina reiterates that she and Tarek are doing just fine.
She appears to scoff at any chatter to the contrary.
“Honestly, I’m doing really good. I’m in a really good place,” Christina told Lauren Zima at the All-Star Chef Classic at L.A. Live.
“The kids are happy, they’re healthy, Tarek and I are in a good spot. We have a lot of things that we’re working on, cool things coming in the future, so we’re just looking forward.”
Cool things coming, huh?
Previous reports had indicated that Christina and Tarek would only continue working together through the current season of Flip or Flop.
They each allegedly want a solo show down the line, while HGTV is planning five Flip or Flop spinoffs… but none starring the El Moussas.
For now, though, Christina is simply focused the original version of this franchise.
“We have an amazing crew, they are the funest, funniest guys, and they just keep everything super upbeat and light,” she told ET, adding:
“Tarek and I have worked together for 10 years, and we’re going to continue to work together. We’re getting along really, really well right now.”
Is that really feasible, given all the stars have been through?
It’s just letting go of past resentment and living in the future, and remembering that kids are the priority,” she explained of how the ex-couple stays on solid terms.
“And we are going to be in each other’s lives for forever, so we just decided to put the past in the past and move on.”
Sounds like a lesson many other parents should heed: despite your personal difficulties, the kids always need to come first.
Christina also says she has a book on the way, one that will document this entire experience.
“Going through a divorce is tough on anyone, so I’m just kind of writing about some of the experiences that I’ve had and things that have really helped me cope, and just hoping I can help people going through similar situations.
“Putting the kids first and recognizing the fact that we need to be happy, healthy, wonderful parents [has helped me cope.
“Other things that have helped me a lot is – I’ve found yoga, and yoga has really helped me relieve a lot of stress and really helped me think that I have control over my emotions and just really find peace.”
