Sunday evening on a special all-new installment of Teen Mom OG on MTV, the fab four found themselves ringing in the holidays in style.
It was a time of mixed emotions, as is often the case.
For one couple, it was a Christmas they’ll never forget – and for those who watch Teen Mom OG online, it was pretty unforgettable too.
Who would’ve guessed that when Ryan Edwards, girlfriend caught the bouquet at Maci Bookout‘s wedding, she really would get hitched next.
Sure, there’s a long way to go still, but the longtime ne’er-do-well proposed this week at a Christmas-themed dinner, sweeping her off her feet.
He got down on one knee and told Mackenzie Standifer she was the “most special” girl he’s ever met before asking her to marry him.
Somewhat incredibly to those who know Ryan, she said yes!
Dinner? Champagne? Rose petals? And that ring that he presumably paid for?! Who is this guy and what has he done with Edwards?!
Sorry. We kid. He’s come a long way, and Edwards’ parents were ecstatic … amusingly telling her to “return” Ryan if she’s ever unhappy.
Meanwhile, Amber Portwood continued to grow increasingly frustrated about not having as much time with Leah as she’d like lately.
After they went and bought a Christmas tree, Leah admitted that the ornaments she makes at school actually go to Gary and Kristina’s.
That hurts … although on a positive note, Gary told Amber he would let her have Leah Christmas Eve night and on Christmas morning.
Ambs just kept on bawling, but hopefully, as the two continue to trust one another more, this situation can only improve more in time.
As a consolation prize, Portwood’s surprise Christmas gift from Matt Baier was … a Corvette. That will take the sting off of this a little!
Where does he have that kind of cash, though?
As for the show’s longest-tenured couple, Catelynn Lowell surprised Tyler Baltierra with a little winter trip, where they rode on a snowmobile.
They went to a hot spring and also did some snow tubing, and showed that sometimes a little fun and quality time cures what ails you.
Does that sort of getaway make all your problems cease to exist? Of course not, but it does remind you of why you love the ones you love.
In Farrah Abraham’s case, it’s unclear why (or if) she really loves beau Simon Saran, but there they were, house hunting in San Diego.
Not to be outdone by Mackenzie this week, she wore her “engagement ring” that she got herself and tried to force Simon to give her.
(He didn’t oblige her, if you missed that last week.)
Clearly wearing the thing to get a reaction out of him, they argued non-stop as they scouted out Sophia’s potential elementary school.
Just the kind of relationship you move away for.
Amazingly, she seems to be following through on her plan to relocate there, or she’s putting on a good show for the cameras at least.
She seemed to find a perfect house for her, Sophia and Starburst, and the couple were together at the MTV Movie Awards last night, so …
It’s not clear if they’ll stand the test of time (we’re guessing not), but the fact that we’re even talking about Simon Saran now is a surprise.
At this point, it looks 50-50 at least that he’ll be there at the end of the season and we’ll see another absurd Teen Mom reunion fight.
