The Fosters Season 4 Episode 1: Yes, It Really Went There

For very depressing and disturbing reasons, The Fosters Season 4 Episode 1 aired a storyline on Monday night that was especially relevant.

The Freeform drama entered the debate on gun control with “Potential Energy.”

How did it integrate this timely piece of storytelling?

At the close of last season, Nick witnessed Mariana kissing Mat. In response, he burned down his father’s warehouse and then brought a gun to school.

Did he plan on using it on himself? Or Mariana? On Mat? On a large number of students?

We’ll never know for sure.

But the episode did find Nick’s father talking about the responsibility of a gun owner and how there’s no such thing as a “safe” weapon when a child has access to it.

The premiere also tackled a point made by many gun advocates: that the best protection against bad guys with guns … for good guys to also have guns.

In this case, though, a frazzled substitute teacher actually pulled out his own gun on the SWAT team sent to rescue the teachers and student, placing the kids at even more risk due to his panicked state.

The premiere was written and filmed prior to the Orlando shooting that took the lives of 49 men and women inside Pure Nightclub this month.

But showrunner Brad Bredeweg told TV Line that, sadly, the premiere would be timely at nearly any point in the last decade orso.

“Orlando, obviously, is one of the most tragic things that has ever happened in this country. So this episode is very timely,” Bredeweg told TV Line.

“Unfortunately, I feel like this episode is timely no matter what point we’re at in this country. That’s why it’s so important for us to explore the subject matter on the show.”

What do you think of The Fosters taking on the gun control issue?

An important topic for a TV show to delve into? Or something entirely inappropriate for a show aimed at young adults to center on?

Lisa Vanderpump: "Regrets" Discussing Yolanda Foster"s Kids

Back in October, Yolanda Foster revealed that her two youngest children, Bella and Anwar Hadid were diagnosed with Lyme disease back in 2012.

The topic of Foster’s health has been brought up several times during this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and on Tuesday, talk turned to her kids (dad is Foster’s ex-husband, Mohamed Hadid).

Lisa Vanderpump, who is close with Hadid, updated the women on the latest with the Foster-Hadid health crisis.

Vanderpump told the group of women at Kyle’s BBQ (dinner, really) that Hadid told her that his children were “fine” and didn’t have Lyme disease.

This made both Foster and Hadid irate, to the point where the usually private father had to release a statement about Vanderpump’s comments via Instagram.

Yesterday, Vanderpump took to her Bravo TV blog to clear the air about what she said.

“I would never delve into the health history of somebody’s children, but now as the subject was brought to the forefront by Yolanda, a week previously, without provocation, then I was asked questions by Kyle, I have no alternative but to speak my truth,” Vanderpump explained.

“My truth being over the years of interacting with all of the children there had never been any mention of illness.

I knew them [Bella and Anwar] to to thrive, flourish, but I state I had no reason to question their well being. Mohamed had always said they were fine, but that is their prerogative as parents, whatever medical issues or information they choose to divulge.

“I obviously interpreted that as they were not infected by this insidious disease, and as it is not contagious, I understood them to be healthy.

I love and adore all three of them, for sure. I regret even acknowledging the subject, but we live and we learn.”

Vanderpump, however, pointed out that all’s fair in reality TV.

“I can’t stress this enough: I believe when we initiate conversation on a reality show, whether inadvertently or not, we open the doors for discussion,” she wrote.

“I have initiated sensitive subjects myself, with regard to my children, for one… Max’s adoption, with the full understanding that as cameras were documenting this, it would be flung into a forum where many would speculate.

“It was a conscious choice, so people would gain a better understanding of our family dynamic.”

Was Vanderpump out of line?  Let us know in the comments section below.

David Foster: STILL Paying Yolanda Foster"s Medical Bills?!

It’s been over two weeks since we first learned that Yolanda and David Foster are getting divorced, and sources say that even though Yolanda is the one who decided to call it quits, she’s still milking David for everything he’s worth.

According to TMZ, the couple signed a prenup when they married in 2011, but David is giving Yolanda much more cash than he’s required to.

In fact, the website claims that David is still paying for Yolanda’s medical bills, which is odd for a few reasons:

For one thing, Yolanda’s bills are astronomical, as she frequently travels internationally to receive expensive stem cell treatments that aren’t legal in the US.

But what makes the situation even more surprising is the fact that friends say David doesn’t even believe Yolanda has Lyme disease!

“David is telling friends he believes she was cured of it long ago, but she’s been playing up ongoing symptoms because she enjoys the attention,” one insider recently told Radar Online.

Sources say Yolanda decided to end the marriage over a year ago, but David has continued to provide emotional and financial support.

When David sold his $ 27 million Malibu home, he reportedly gave Yolanda “a big chunk” of the money, and she recently purchased a $ 5 million home in the upscale Wilshire Corridor section of Los Angeles.

Yolanda may or may not be sick, but from the sound of things, her bank account has never been healthier.

Lisa Rinna: STOP Questioning Yolanda Foster"s Lyme Disease!

Back in 2012, Yolanda Foster was diagnosed with Lyme disease. If you watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online, you’ve seen Yolanda’s health deteriorate as she resorts to more drastic measures to treat her illness.

But apparently some of Foster’s co-stars have been too busy with their own problems to take notice of their “friend’s” suffering, because some of them have openly accused Yolanda of faking it

Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump and Taylor Arnstrong have all questioned Yolanda’s health claims, despite the fact that the woman has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars traveling to Europe for stem cell treatments.

Now, one of Yolanda’s more sane co-stars, Lisa Rinna, is addressing the issue on her Bravo blog, and it seems she’s fed up with the rest of Housewives and their speculation.

“We saw Lisa talk to Kyle at lunch and openly admit she’s questioning what’s happening beyond the Lyme diagnosis,” Lisa writes.

“Then their second conversation about Yolanda in Tuscany where Lisa V said, ‘I’m thinking what she’s thinking is it’s not Lyme disease anymore’ and ‘so you think the mental state dictates the physical state’ in regard to Kyle’s story about her depression after her mother’s death showing itself as physical pain. A whole lot of speculation we’re seeing right now.”

While she doesn’t come right out and say, “Yolanda has Lyme disease; everybody STFU about it!” Lisa does describe the feeling of watching her friend suffer in heartbreaking detail:

It was quite clear that we were sitting with a woman desperate to feel well and determined to figure out the culprits to her illness while watching her descent into darkness.

My heart really went out to her in that moment as I couldn’t imagine, even for a second, having my own life do such a severe 180 due to illness.

Yolanda’s situation affected me in a way that made me want to understand what she was going through, and I really started listening to the conversations going on around me pertaining to Yolanda, Lyme disease, and her journey to wellness.

We think it’s safe to say Lisa is on Team Yolanda. We also think Bravo can cool it with the fake disease storylines now.

Yolanda Foster"s Husband Blames Her For Ruining His Career

New details surrounding Yolanda and David Foster’s split are really bumming me out.

They were together nine years, four of them as a married couple, before announcing plans to divorce on December 1st.

Yolanda has been battling Lyme disease since 2012, which sources say took its toll on the couple.

Page Six reports new details that may have caused a rift between the Netherlands native and David.

A source tells the paper that Yolanda joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in order “to help her daughters [Gigi and Bella Hadid] rise in the modeling industry.”

David is a music industry veteran, having penned many a hit, including Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”

In 2011, David was appointed chairman of Universal’s Verve Music Group, which has since folded into Interscope Geffen A&M.

He blames Yolanda “for this failure because he thinks the ‘Housewives’ show has hurt him.”

The source adds that music producer has a “gigantic ego” and “likes to stay relevant.”

David was kind of a douche lord on the show; he once told Taylor Armstrong that she couldn’t sing, and only listen while he played a set during one a dinner party.

“He’s had success and was a big deal,” the source explained.  “So I think [the show made him] feel like he doesn’t hold the same place in pop culture.

“Maybe it’s a reality check because her daughters are pop culture.”

David’s daughters from his first marriage, Erin and Sara, have their own show, Barely Famous, on Vh1, which has been renewed for a second season.  Their A-list friends include Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Meyer and Jessica Alba.

David, it’s believed, is pissed that his daughters aren’t as famous as Gigi or Bella.

“I’m sure he’s upset her kids’ careers are popping off and his aren’t. He’s competitive in that way.”

The parting of ways has seeped into Yolanda’s relationship with Erin and Sara.

“There is a rift [between Yolanda’s and] David’s daughters, whom Yolanda doesn’t speak with any longer, but was once close,” the source said.

“It sounds like a lot of jealousy on the Foster side, as those Hadid girls are huge stars [now].”

Kyle Richards on Yolanda Foster"s Lyme Disease: She"s Faking It!

If you watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online, you know that one of the ladies has been battling a devastating illness for several years.

Yolanda Foster was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, and her treatments and efforts to raise awareness have been prominently featured on the series. Bizarrely, however, some of her castmates thinks it’s all just for show.

First, returning Housewife Taylor Armstrong accused Yolanda of faking her illness, now, Kylie Richards is throwing shade in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight:

“I think for a lot of people it’s very confusing,” Richards says.

“A lot of the things she’s gone through and the treatments she’s done, for some of the cast members they were questioning exactly what she was doing and exactly how sick she was. It was not a good situation.

“Some things came up made some of the Housewives question exactly what was really going on.”

Richards didn’t go into specifics, but she did promise that the debate over Foster’s illness would ignite some serious drama on the upcoming season of RHOBH.

The timing of this latest controversy is strange, as it comes on the heels of accusations that Real Housewives of Orange County star Brooks Ayers faked his cancer.

We know all reality stars bend the truth to create better television, but the stars of the Housewives franchise might be getting iut of hand.
