Drunk White JetBlue Passenger Calls Out for NAACP While Being Subdued

We don"t hear so often from Utah Man, but we sure do hear a lot of airplane nightmares.

Thankfully, this intoxicated troublemaker didn"t make it past boarding before being arrested for assaulting a JetBlue employee.

Unfortunately, his 8-year-old son watched as his white father screamed obscenities and called out for the NAACP.

It will surprise no one to learn that this went down in Florida.

Utah man Brandon Strong was at the Orlando International Airport when, according to police, he began harassing a woman.

When that alleged verbal harassment escalated to the point of him calling the woman a "c–t," JetBlue stepped in.

JetBlue employees informed him that he would not be permitted to board the flight.

According to a sworn statement by one of those employees, this is when Strong got physical.

Strong allegedly became physically confrontational

"I explained to him that he could not travel and asked for his son," the JetBlue employee writes.

"At that point," the affidavit continues. "He pressed his iPad against my chest and pushed me."

The employee writes: "I pushed his hands away from my chest, and he attempted to grab me."

"We wrestled," the affidavit says. "And myself and a couple other customers tried to restrain him."

The operative word there is that they tried to restrain the man.

Police say that there were multiple 911 calls about the incident.

(It turns out that people really take notice when you"re violent at an airport — who knew?)

According to Officer Jason Hajek"s affidavit, Strong was very obviously intoxicated.

Hajek wrote that he "could detect the strong odor of the impurities of alcohol on his breath."

Brandon Strong allegedly continued to resist, and was warned that he would be subdued.

Strong was warned that he might be met with a "chemical spray."

Hajek writes that, with a crowd surrounding him, he fired "one short burst" of pepper spray at Strong.

Pepper spray is a potent chemical weapon, and the Fire Department was called to offer treatment to those in the crowd who were impacted.

During the scuffle, Strong yelled "Where is the NAACP?!"

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is America"s oldest civil rights organization.

While the NAACP has addressed many topics, including excessive force by police, it is unclear why Strong felt that the organization was relevant.

For one thing, this wasn"t a beating for jaywalking. This appears to have been a case of police putting a stop to his behavior.

For another thing, Brandon Strong is a 45-year-old white man.

Anyway, Strong was arrested for disorderly intoxication, resisting officers, and assaulting police.

On a funny note, Strong referred to the initial JetBlue employee as "Paul Bart Mall Cop."

Unlike the film by that name, that is objectively funny.

On a considerably less funny note, the man"s 8-year-old son witnessed this. One can only imagine what else he has seen from this man.

JetBlue looked after the boy and his mother was contacted and informed that he would be transported to Utah.

Honestly, from the looks of this video, this situation might have been a lot worse had bystanders not stepped in.

JetBlue Kicks Family Off Flight Due to… Birthday Cake?!?

JetBlue has apparently grown sick and tired of every other airline making news over the past several weeks.

News for the wrong reasons, but still. News nonetheless.

Therefore, in light of United assaulting a customer, Delta showing a patron the door for using the bathroom and Virgin turning away a young cancer patient, JetBlue has gotten into the Awful PR Business for itself.

Here"s how…

On May 3, a family of four was traveling to New Jersey when they allegedly refused to move a birthday cake they brought on board out of the overhead bin.

Cameron Burke, his wife Minta and their two young kids were headed to a surprise party when the patriarch started filming an encounter between himself and police officers who were brought on board to confront him over the issue.

The father told ABC 7 that he moved the dessert item from an overhead bin to under the seat in front of him when asked, but that two flight attendants were still giving him a hard time over it.

"You know, you could see the gestures – then she was pointing to her, did you tell him he couldn’t put anything in the overhead compartment?,” Cameron said.

“I had approached them, and I said everything was fine, and she said, ‘Sir, this does not involve you.’

"When she told me I had been non-compliant, then I said, ‘Ma’am, had you been drinking?’ because her behavior was not normal."

The airline forced all passengers to deplane in light of this incident, with the Burkes told they could not get on the flight and given a refund instead.

According to JetBlue spokesperson Morgan Johnston, however, the Burkes are not victims here.

He says “the video circulating [below] does not depict the entire incident and only starts after the objectionable behavior occurred.”

The company claims Cameron refused numerous requests to take the cake out of an overhead bin which is reserved for safety equipment in case of an emergency.

"The customers became agitated, cursed and yelled at the crew, and made false accusations about a crewmember’s fitness to fly,” JetBlue said, adding:

“After the customers refused to speak with a team leader about the situation, the Port Authority Police Department was called and the entire aircraft deplaned.

"The Captain determined the customers’ behavior demonstrated a risk for additional escalation in air and would not be allowed to fly."

JetBlue noted that cakes are permitted onboard as long as they are within the carry-on size limits.

Minta, though, says she wants at least one of the flight attendants fired and that her children were left “traumatized” by what transpired.

JetBlue Passenger Not Allowed On Plane Because Her "Shorts Were Too Short"

I guess it’s better than being kicked off for drunken antics?

A Seattle-based burlesque dancer was told by gate agents at Boston’s Logan Airport that the length of her shorts were unacceptable, and she would therefore not be allowed to board her connecting JetBlue flight.

The passenger, who goes by Maggie McMuffin, recapped the ordeal to her local CBS station, KIRO-TV.

“The flight crew had discussed it and the pilot had decided that I needed to put something else on or I would not be allowed to board the flight,” she explained.

McMuffin – who donned a sweatshirt, thigh-high socks and shorts – said she wasn’t questioned about her outfit on a flight out of New York before connecting in Boston.

A gate agent approached McMuffin and told her that “she was really sorry for bringing this up but just what I was wearing was not appropriate and the flight crew had discussed it and the pilot had decided that I needed to put something else on or I would not be allowed to board the flight.

“I was told it was the pilot’s final say so these are not official rules that can be broken,” she said, adding that she had to run to another terminal to buy a $ 22 pair of shorts.

JetBlue issued a statement after the incident:

“The gate and on board crew discussed the customer’s clothing and determined that the burlesque shorts may offend other families on the flight. While the customer was not denied boarding, the crew members politely asked if she could change.

“The customer agreed and continued on the flight without interruption. We support our crew members’ discretion to make these difficult decisions, and we decided to reimburse the customer for the cost of the new shorts and offered a credit for future flight as a good will gesture.”

The airline gave McMuffin a $ 200 credit and refund for the shorts.

Who knows? Maybe JetBlue was trying to avoid an in-flight incident involving McMuffin and an irate puritan.
