Maisie Williams Shuts Down Sexist Headline: See What She Said!

Maisie Williams for ALL the wins, people.

The Game of Thrones actress has been featured prominently on Game of Thrones Season 6, but that’s not why we’re singing her praises right now.

Instead, we’re giving mad props to Williams for her response to an openly sexist newspaper headline from earlier this week.

It stemmed from an event the young star attended over the weekend, one that raised money for an important cause.

But did The Daily Mail focus on this cause? Did it talk about the reasons why Williams a masquerade ball?

Nope. It took aim at her outfit instead. Here is the headline:

other headline

Because Maisie Williams is totally awesome, though, she didn’t take this slight sitting down.

She didn’t remain silent in response to being called out for not wearing a bra.

She went ahead and re-Tweeted the sexist remark, offering up an alternative for what the newspaper could have written in its place:

maisie tweet

HA! We love it.

This isn’t the first time Williams had spoken out against sexism, either.

Consider her awesome take on the idea of feminism in general. Is she all for it? Sort of, but…

M. Williams meme

Like we said above: Maisie Williams for ALL the wins.

Instead of saying someone is a “feminist,” let’s all go in the opposite direction and use the term “sexist” for anyone who is somehow opposed to women being equal to men.

Okay? Okay!

Glad we had this conversation.

Madonna to Fashion Critics: You"re Sexist! And Ageist!

According to many critics, Madonna was among the worst dressed celebrities at the MET Gala in New York City on Monday night.

The Hollywood Gossip was among those who labeled The Material Girl as such (see our rundown below) after she walked the red carpet in a VERY revealing black lace ensemble by Riccardo Tisci.

The singer’s buttocks and breasts were pretty much on full display.

But this is Madonna.

This is one of the most outspoken celebrities of modern times, so she didn’t exactly take the criticism lightly.

She fired back in full force, in fact.

Via a long, detailed and harshly worded Instagram post, the legendary artist said her MET Gala selection was about far more than just her personal fashion preferences.

“We have fought and continue to fight for civil rights and gay rights around the world. When it comes to Women’s rights we are still in the dark ages,” Madonna wrote as a caption to the photo above.

“My dress at the Met Ball was a political statement as well as a fashion statement.”

And just what was that political statement?

“The fact that people actually believe a woman is not allowed to express her sexuality and be adventurous past a certain age is proof that we still live in an age-ist and sexist society.

“I have never thought in a limited way and I’m not going to start. We cannot effect change unless we are willing to take risks By being fearless and By taking the road leas traveled by.

“Thats how we change history.”

Here is a look at both the front and the back of Madonna’s controversial dress.

You tell us if you agree she’s making a profound political statement:

It shouldn’t exactly come as a shock to anyone that Madonna would wear a risque outfit, especially to this sort of event.

But here is how she concluded her Instagram post:

If you have a problem with the way I dress it is simply a reflection of your prejudice. I’m not afraid to pave the way for all the girls behind me As Nina Simone once said, the definition of freedom is being fearless. I remain Unapologetic and a Rebel in this life and all the others.

Miley Cyrus Puts Donald Trump ON BLAST for Sexist Tweet

Miley Cyrus regularly spouts a wealth of insane comments on social media, but this time she’s preaching some sense.

The singer came at Donald Trump hard after the presidential candidate retweeted a ridiculously sexist meme featuring his wife Melania Trump next to Heidi Cruz, spouse of his rival Ted Cruz.

The meme, which juxtaposed an unflattering photo of Heidi with a glamour shot of Melania, appeared to imply that Trump had the hotter wife, which somehow made him the better man.

Seriously, we can’t even. And neither can Miley.

She re-posted the meme to Instagram, accompanied by the following harsh words:

Melania - Heidi meme retweeted by Miley

“Trump can’t stop won’t stop saying stupid ass sexist shit!!!! Comparing two women! Are you f**king kidding!

“We will not allow you to destroy everything we have overcome as women! I feel as though we are stronger than ever as a unit.

“We have an understanding and respect for one another (more than trump can say about anyone, his fellow candidates, other races and religions , other public figures , just HUMAN BEINGS in general, and of course animals!

“Check out his family hunting photos!!!!) it’s absolute insanity that this has gone on this long and far! Wake me up from this nightmare someone PLEASE!”

You tell him, Miley.

Sadly, Trump isn’t the only sexist POS in this scenario.

Before the Melania-Heidi abomination was shared, an anti-Trump super PAC released its own sexist meme featuring the former supermodel posing nude.

The accompanying text read, “Meet Melania Trump. Your next first lady. Or, you can support Ted Cruz on Tuesday.”

Basically, this campaign has been reduced to an immature, irrelevant and misogynistic exchange that boils down to “Your wife’s a slut!” vs. “You’re wife is ugly!”

Please, for the love of God, just leave the spouses out of this already-juvenile debacle of a campaign.

We don’t always support everything Miley says or does, but on this occasion, we stand with her.

Amy Schumer Slams Chris Harrison For Allegedly Sexist Remark

The Bachelor is not a show one generally looks to for progressive feminist values, but apparently comedian and admitted reality TV junkie Amy Schumer thought host Chris Harrison’s comments on last night’s episode were insensitive and misogynistic, even by the not-so-lofty standards of a show on which a bunch of women compete for the attention of one dude.

The moment that pissed Amy off came during Harrison’s interview with former contestant Jubilee Sharpe, who was dismissed from the show in week five.

Sharpe spoke about her tragic backstory (she was adopted by an American family after her parents were killed in Haiti when she was young), and her appreciation for the fact that Bachelor Ben Higgins didn’t see her “complicated past” as a “huge obstacle.”

Harrison replied:

“I know you can’t control how complicated you are. You might be complicated, and I know you stir the pot sometimes, but I hope you realize you’re a pretty special woman, and I really appreciate you coming here and opening up the way you did.”

Seems innocent enough, but apparently Harrison’s use of the word “complicated” to describe Sharpe struck Schumer as offensive.

“There is nothing wrong with ‘complicated’ women Chris Harrison,” Schumer tweeted. “You treated it like something she should fight. A women shouldn’t try to…be less complicated so as to hopefully attract a man.

“And she shouldn’t find value in herself just because a dude liked her…She is smart and strong and a sergeant in the military. She lost her entire family and you say she must fight off being complicated.”

Many have gotten Amy’s back, others have accused her of making a mountain out of a mole hill and being a bit too eager to add her voice to the ever-louder chorus of outraged social media users.

We won’t sound off one way one another, but suffice it to say, the situation is…complicated. Sorry.

An Alabama City Proposed A Ban On Sagging Pants Last Month — And Now, They"ve Doubled Down With A Crazy NEW Sexist Proposal!

Why should we just stop at banning sagging pants?!?!

That’s the question the tiny town of Dadeville, Alabama is asking after a council meeting this week!

[ Related: Remember The Football Player Who Pooped His Pants Mid-Game? ]

Reports are coming out that the city’s council — which last month heard a proposal by one of its members to ban sagging pants within the city limits — is now seeking to even up the playing field against women!

Dadeville City Councilwoman Stephanie Kelley said men shouldn’t be the only ones singled out by a ban — so she proposed adding short shorts and mini-skirts to the banned list, too!!

According to the Alex City Outlook, Kelley spoke at the council’s meeting this week, saying:

“My concern is it should be for everybody. I think for the girls, with these shorts up so high looking like under garments and dresses so short, I don’t want us to be showing favoritism.”

City Councilman Frank Goodman — who originally proposed the sagging pants ban last month and got this whole debacle started — added:

“It is about respect. Who is going to respect you if you don’t respect yourself. The reason I brought this up is I think people deserve respect when they are in public. I think slacking is disrespectful. I think it gives our younger generation the wrong impression of what is cool.”

Yeah! Respect and equal treatment! Ban things for both men and women! As long as the city council is going to do dumb stuff, at least it’s rooted in equality right?? LOLz!!

Town attorney Robin Reynolds — who, big surprise, was also totally down with those squares in the city council — said at the meeting he’d be happy to write in the additional ban for women:

“If the council wants me to write in something for the females – it will take a little more creativity on my part.”

Good luck, Robin. We’re so sure you’ll craft a masterpiece. Ha!!!

Hey Dadeville — banning men from literally showing their underwear is not the same as banning women from wearing clothes that don’t even slightly reveal anything.

What do U think about this ludicrous idea??
