Gretchen Carlson Breaks Silence on Sexual Harassment Suit

Gretchen Carlson has spoken out for the first time since filing a lawsuit against her former employer.

Last week, as previously reported, the former Fox & Friends co-host sued Fox News Chariman Roger Ailes for sexual harassment.

In her legal documents, Carlson alleged that Ailes propositioned her for sex and then punished her afterward once she turned him down.

One portion of Carlson’s suit reads as follows:

“Ailes has unlawfully retaliated against [her] and sabotaged her career because she refused sexual advances and complained about severe and pervasive sexual harassment.”

Now, in an interview with The New York Times, Carlson says part of the reason why she took this step was to stand up for other women who have faced similar scenarios in the workplace.

“I just wanted to stand up for myself, first and foremost,” Carlson tells the newspaper, adding:

“And I wanted to stand up for other women who maybe faced similar circumstances.”

Ailes has strongly denied all charges.

He says Carlson was fired from Fox & Friends in 2013 due to a ratings drop and then let go entirely from Fox News last month due to poor performance.

“This defamatory lawsuit is not only offensive, it is wholly without merit and will be defended vigorously,” Ailes said in response a few days ago.

In a statement that refers to Carlson’s lawyer, meanwhile, a Fox News spokeswoman, Irena Briganti, said:

“Between chasing ambulances and headlines, the truth seems to have been run over by Nancy Erika Smith.”

That’s a pretty good line, anyone has to admit.

Carlson worked at Fox News for 11 years. She tells The Times here that she had had six to 10 meetings with Ailes during her tenure at Fox in order to discuss his “continuous” sexist language.

“Everyone knew how powerful Roger Ailes was. I certainly felt intimidated by that,” Carlson added.

Since Carlson went public with these accusations, six other women have come out and made similar allegations.

One says she was working at Fox News as a 16-year old when Ailes exposed his testicles to her and told her to “kiss them.” She refused, running out of his office in tears.

When asked what she hoped to achieve by bringing this lawsuit, Carlson didn’t need to consult with her attorneys to give an answer.

“To stand up for what happened to me and what was the truth,” she said.

It’s also worth noting that Carlson has named former colleague Steve Doocy in her suit.

She claims that he “regularly treat[ed] her in a sexist and condescending way” when they worked together, “engaging in a pattern and practice of severe and pervasive sexual harassment” that was akin to treating her as “a blond female prop.”

Carlson is seeking an undisclosed monetary figure for “lost compensation, damaged career path, damage to reputation and pain and suffering damages.”

Kate Middleton: Pregnant Again? For Real This Time?!?

Sure, why not?

Life & Style has it on good authority that the Duchess of Cambridge is with child once again.

Wait!  This isn’t your average story about Catherine being pregnant with twins/unicorns/elves on a shelf.

No, this is really happening (it’s not really happening).

The weekly claims that Catherine is “four months along” with a baby girl.

“It’s official! She is due on Christmas. Kate and William are overjoyed,” an alleged insider claims.

Of course, the Queen was told, and declared the royal fetus “a fabulous present for her 90th birthday this year.”

“They don’t mind whether No. 3 is a boy or a girl,” the source added.

“They already have one of each, so they just want their next child to be healthy.”

This contradicts the Globe‘s cover, which claims that not only is Catherine pregnant with twin girls, she and Prince William are being handed the throne by Her Majesty.

I’m no expert on gestation, but I’ve been told by moms that a woman’s baby bump is more obvious earlier with the second, third, fourth etc child.

That would mean that Catherine would most likely be showing at four months, but her recent outings showed no signs of a bump.

Case in point, her July 6th engagement at the National History Museum, where she wore a tight-fitting white dress by Barbara Casasola (above).

Then there was her visit to Wimbledon the next day, for which she wore a yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress first seen during her and Prince William’s 2014 tour of Australia.

On neither occasion did Her Royal Highness look pregnant, but who am I to judge solely by appearance?

The thing about these reports is that they’re utter nonsense.  Unfortunately, they take pride of place in the checkout aisle of every supermarket across the country, so it’s easy to glance over, read a headline and think, “Oh, she’s expecting again.  That’s great.”

The only confirmation regarding a royal pregnancy that should be believed will come straight from Kensington Palace, where William and Catherine’s press office is located.

Pokemon Go Leads Players To Auschwitz, Humanity Is Doomed

Come on, guys.

The new Pokemon Go game may be great at getting people to enjoy the great outdoors, but it also makes them act like total idiots.

According to New York Magazine, someone reported “a presence” of the mobile app in Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

Fearing that the grounds would be a new PokeStop, a spokesperson for the Auschwitz Memorial had to issue a statement asking everyone not to take part.

The presence of the game at the former camp was ‘absolutely inappropriate,” the statement read.

“Allowing such games to be active on the site of Auschwitz Memorial is disrespectful to the memory of the victims of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp on many levels.”

The organizers had asked the app’s creators to “not to allow the site of Auschwitz Memorial and other similar sites to be included in the game.”

It gets even better.

Another player claimed that there was a PokeStop at the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C.

Great!

Andy Hollinger, director of communications at the museum, stated that he and his team are “attempting to have the museum removed from the game.

“Technology can be an important learning tool, but this game falls far outside of our educational and memorial mission.”

Wait, it gets worse.

The character found in the museum “excretes noxious gas,” which is…no.

The game, already available in Australia and the US, will soon be released in Europe.

Considering that, many memorial organizations are already in touch with the app creators in order to avoid such shiteous things from happening go forward.

“After we were made aware that a number of historical markers on the grounds of former concentration camps in Germany had been added, we determined that they did not meet the spirit of our guidelines and began the process of removing them in Germany and elsewhere in Europe,” the company said in a statement.

Taylor Swift: Did She Dump Calvin Harris Because of a Song?!

By this point, just about everyone on the planet knows that Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are broken up, and the former has moved on to a remarkably fast-moving relationship with Tom Hiddleston.

But it’s still not clear exactly why Swift and Harris called it quits.

Fortunately, TMZ is basically what you’d get if Sherlock Holmes was willing to pay sources, and the site claims to have figured out the cause of Taylor and Calvin’s unexpected split.

Despite reports to the contrary, insiders say Taylor never cheated on Harris with Hiddleston, but the couple didn’t just gradually grow apart, either.

There was a definitive breaking point – and surprisingly, it came as a result of Taylor helping Calvin out with a song.

Sources say Calvin’s latest single, “This Is What You Came For”, was co-written with Taylor, but at the time the new couple didn’t want anyone to know they’d collaborated for fear of overshadowing the song.

In fact, the club hit reportedly sprang from a melody that Taylor came up with, recorded on her iPhone, and shared with Calvin.

Despite arguably being the primary creative force behind the song, Taylor didn’t want to be mentioned in any of the promotional material.

Instead, Taylor adopted a pseudonym, Nils Sjoberg, for her co-writing credit.

Despite her apparent selflessness in giving Harris sole rights to the song, however, Taylor was reportedly blindsided when she saw this:

That’s a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest in which Harris says he and Taylor “haven’t even spoken about collaborating.”

This, despite the fact that at that point, they’d already written “Came For” together.

Sources say Calvin went too far in his denial, and Taylor’s feelings were hurt.

A few days later, Taylor attended the 2016 Met Gala by herself, where she danced with Hiddleston.

The rest, as they say, is history.
