When the recovering Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s future on last night’s Dancing with the Stars results show was revealed, fans were blindsided.
So, as it turns out, was Kim.
After Kim Zolciak suffered a stroke last week, she was unable to compete in Monday’s episode and will have to leave the competition.
She was stuck at home in Atlanta after being hospitalized, so she couldn’t join partner Tony Dovolani for this week’s episode on ABC.
“It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever been through in my whole life,” she said in a prerecorded segment that aired during the broadcast.
“I’m extremely worried,” Tony Dovolani added.
“I don’t want to risk her life over a dance.”
The two had practiced in her hospital room in hopes that she might make it, but ultimate she did not take the risk of flying to L.A.
Tony performed their planned “I Dream of Jeanie” dance with Jenna Johnson, and then Zolciak appeared via Skype on DWTS.
“I’m really sad,” Kim said of not being able to be there, noting that she was well enough to give dancing a go, but could not fly.
She said if she were in L.A., she would have driven to the event, but alas, being 3,000 miles away forced Zolciak out of DWTS.
Not that she knew about this in advance.
Tom Bergeron delivered the bad news, saying that a health issue or illness preventing a contestant from competing means withdrawal.
Sources closely involved with Kim say she was not given a heads up prior to this, and was told only to Skype in for a health update.
During that segment, she got the chop.
Kim is upset that producers didn’t use a video of her practice session to score her this week, a la Melissa Rycoft back in Season 15.
Melissa, who also danced with Tony, went on to win her season and become one of the most popular All-Stars to complete as well.
As for rumors that Kim’s stroke was caused by plastic surgery, or she faked it as Wendy Williams implied? Topics for another day.
What do you think? Did Kim get a raw deal?
