The Voice Recap: Alicia"s Big Steal

The most depressing portion of The Voice continued with part two of the Battle Rounds. Seriously, this stage is included purely for the viewers at home.

The coaches were waiting to have the opportunity to steal someone they liked from another coach. It’s the way of the game, but it’s kind of cruel to have people worrying about their fate in the game.

It’s time to run down who made it through to the next stage of the competition, but the episode featured just three battles. NBC’s plan to spruce up their shows with The Voice is definitely diluting the series.

Now, there’s no sign of it coming to an end soon, but it might be time to stick to a one-night extravaganza per week.

Johnny Gates vs. Sammie Zonana

On Team Gwen, Johnny and Sammie competed with the song, “I Drove All Night” by Celine Dion. What they didn’t know was that Celine was going to be mentoring them.

What Celine did not know was that the duo decided to change a lot of the song and when it came to performing it, it was completely different.

Celine was impressed. It helped Johnny’s voice evolve with a solid performance, but Sammie just limped along. It made it even dumber that her one-note voice was put through, to begin with.

Winner: Johnny Gates

Chris Blue vs. R.J. Collins

This was a tough one. Both men are, like, the best in the competition right now, so it was a travesty to put them up against one another. But, if both of them made it further in the competition, it would be too easy to rule them as final 2.

Both men were great to listen to, but there was something about Chris Blue that sounded more appealing than R.J. They both have solid personalities, but Chris seemed to take the cake with this one, and that’s why it was unsurprising that he made it through.

The more shocking thing was that R.J. was not stolen by another coach. Was it because they knew that Chris was stronger?

Probably.

Winner: Chris Blue

Steal: N/A

Aliyah Moulden vs. Dawson Coyle

Aliyah and Dawson went head-to-head with “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves. It was the ultimate feel-good anthem for them to sing, but kind of sad when both of them were not making it through.

Neither of them was that great, and it made us question which one would eke out a victory. Blake opted to stick Aliyah, but that did not mean Dawson’s game was over.

Alicia felt that Dawson could have a lot of fans and that helps when the votes come in from Twitter during the live shows.

Winner: Aliyah Moulden

Steal: Dawson Coyle

That wraps up part two of the Battle Rounds, but there is still a long way left to go for the contestants.

Who will make it to the live shows? Who won’t? The Voice continues on Monday!
