From the moment we learned that Kailyn Lowry had welcomed her third child, the Teen Mom 2 star was plagued by two major questions from fans:
The first, “what will Kailyn name her third baby boy?” remains unanswered.
The second mystery that has followers obsessing over Kailyn’s every tweet involves her mysterious baby daddy Chris Lopez – and the issue of whether or not he’ll play any role in the life of his new baby boy.
Chris got Kailyn pregnant during a brief fling that occurred while they were both students at Delaware State University.
(Lowry graduated with a degree in communications back in May.)
Kailyn later admitted she’d overestimated the seriousness of the relationship.
It initially looked as though Lopez had no interest in being a father and his child-rearing duties would go no further than fulfilling his financial obligation to Kailyn.
After Lowry gave birth, however, Chris seemed to have a change of heart.
To the surprise of many, he was present in the delivery room, and he drove Kailyn and his son home from the hospital.
Just days after welcoming the child known as “Baby Lo,” Lowry gleefully reported that Lopez would be involved in his son’s life, after all.
Now, however, it seems Chris has let her down a second time.
“Kailyn’s relationship with Chris has been like a rollercoaster—full of ups and downs and unexpected turns,” a source close to the situation tells Hollywood Life.
“After he showed up for the delivery, and drove them home from the hospital, Kailyn thought there was going to be a good chance he would actually be in his son’s life,” the insider adds.
“He even made the effort to visit a few times, with gifts for the baby. But, just as Kailyn started believing that Chris may actually be committed to being a dad, he bails.”
Yes, it seems that after offering up a few promising indications that he planned to be there for his boy and her mother, Lopez has once again disappeared.
And while there may have been a time when Lowry would have chased after him, these days, she has no interest in his games.
“At this point she’s sick of Chris’ bullsh*t, and his flakey behavior,” the source says.
“It’s one thing if he dips in and out of her life, but it’s not OK to do that to a child.”
The insider adds that Kailyn is on the verge of giving up on Lopez entirely, saying:
“Right now she’s one step away from cutting Chris out of her life completely, as she can’t help thinking that having no father is better than having one who constantly upsets, hurts, and bails on his child.”
In the weeks prior to giving birth, the staunchly independent Lowry made a rare admission of vulnerability when she confessed that she was frightened by the prospect of raising three boys as a single mom.
The fact that Lopez knew this and chose to string her along anyway makes her actions all the more unforgivable.
