Burger King: Sorry About that Sign About Overdosing!

The idea of a Burger King establishment enacting a policy that bans customers from returning once they’ve had an overdose on the grounds sounds like the premise of a particularly cruel The Onion article.

Unfortunately, it’s real.

The Burger King in question even posted a sign, which you can see below.

Let’s be clear from the beginning:

This one overdose per customer limit is not a rule passed down from Burger King corporate to different managers.

But one particular Burger King in Worcester, Massachusetts decided that they needed to do something about the prevalence of drug use in their establishment.

According to WBZ, “It’s common knowledge, people do use those restrooms to do that sort of thing. There have been overdoses in there.”

And this is the sign that attracted the attention of police and, of course, of the internet.

“You are ONLY allowed ONE overdose and then you are banned from this establishment.”

Burger King Overdose Rule

Obviously, a number of critics — regardless of their opinions on the opioid epidemic that our nation faces — were shocked that a manager would even hang this in the first place.

The internet exists. Signs don’t stay secret.

On a surface level, the policy itself seems fair. If someone gets caught overdosing in a fast food place … it’s a business. You don’t need people nearly dying from drugs and frightening away customers who are there to eat food.

If this were a shelter, someone might have a point in saying that the policy isn’t compassionate. But Burger Kings are not shelters. They’re restaurants. Let people eat their delicious onion rings in peace.

At the same time, the way in which the sign was written — the phrasing — made it sound almost permissive.

As if Burger King is fine with drug use within the establishment up until you overdose. Then and only then do they draw the line.

Obviously, that does not reflect Burger King policy.

Now, let’s be clear — this sign wasn’t put up for no reason.

Between September of 2016 and September of 2017, this particular Burger King was the site of nine different overdoses. And, quite frankly, those are just the ones that got reported.

The problem is very real.

But the sign is not, um, the answer.

Police met with the manager in order to discuss, you know, better solutions.

Even people who are 100% in support of ending the prohibition of drugs and drug use, both because it’s the right thing to do and in an effort to end the current opioid epidemic, don’t think that people need to be shooting up or whatever inside of a Burger King.

And groups who work to support and advocate for those who are battling addiction agree, saying that signs like this one “don’t help.”

A Burger King spokesperson, whom we would like to imagine as a town crier reading out a royal edict, said:

“The actions of this Team Member were an isolated incident and do not reflect the Burger King brand values or the values of the Franchisee, who independently owns and operates this restaurant.”

Like many fast food chains, Burger King operates with a sort of … Burger Feudal system.

At the top is Burger King itself, the corporate entity. Beyond that are franchisees, whom we might consider to be “Burger Barons.” Then there are store managers, who are like vassals — or Burger Knights.

“The Franchisee is investigating this incident thoroughly and will take the actions they believe are appropriate.”

In other words, a manager is going to have some explaining to do to a rich person who probably owns a number of these places.

As a general rule, big companies do not like having to explain why one manager said or did something dumb.

Burger King itself doesn’t really deserve this bad press.

In fact, that they’ve kept a restaurant in such a troubled area to continue to serve the locals is commendable.

Different people will hold different opinions on how people struggling with addiction should be treated. Some want them thrown in prison, others want them sent for treatment. Others still believe that it’s their right to take these substances — even if it kills them.

But absolutely none of those people think that people have any business overdosing in a Burger King.

Jersey Shore Cast Reunite ... At Burger King

There have been countless rumors over the last few months that the guidos and guidettes of MTV"s Jersey Shore would be reuniting for a new project, but nothing could prepare us for what they had in store.

If you watch Jersey Shore online, you will know that the show became a hit because the cast members found themselves in some crazy arguments after binge drinking.

It was a guilty pleasure that everyone would speak about for days on end. By the time it went off the air, the cast members were not as fun. Simply put, they were growing up.

Without as much alcohol, the feuds were few and far between, and the show became a bit of a chore to get through. Unsurprisingly, the cast members decided to team up for a mini-reunion, but it was not for MTV.

It was actually for Burger King. No, that was not a typo, and we"re sitting here in shock at the five-minute video that brings everyone back together one last time.

The purpose of the reunion was to plug the fast food chain"s new Chicken Parmesan Sandwich, but did we really need the cast of a once-hot series to get us to Burger King?

We think not.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Pauly D, Deena Cortese, Sammi Giancola and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino were in attendance, but Ronny Magro was MIA.

Maybe he did not want to listen to Sammi yelling at him for his single Ronnie antics from back in the day, or something. We have no idea, but it would have been good to have them all there.

Angelina Pivarnick did not need to attend, because, well, she"s not the nicest person and would probably try to get them to buy her track "I"m Hot" so that she does not need to have all the discs put in a landfill.

The cast members struggled to find something to talk about. All they could do was talk about their plans, and The Situation revealed that he was laying the groundwork to have a child.

Pretty crazy considering he"s essentially a child himself, but whatever. Snooki and JWoww revealed that they were parents, but everyone already knew that.

Aside from that, it was a bizarre meeting, and if it"s a taste of things to come in a potential reboot, they should just let it go. MTV would be wise to get a new cast and a new shore and continue the franchise.

Watch the full video below and let us know what you think of it in the comments!

Rebecca Burger, French Fashion Blogger, Killed by Whipped Cream Dispenser

Rebecca Burger, a French fashion blogger with a large following on Instagram, was killed this week after a whipped cream container exploded and struck her in the chest.

She was 33 years old.

We know this sounds like an example of fake news, or some kind of Internet hoax.

But it is a true and sad story.

In a pair of messages posted Wednesday on Burger’s Instagram page, which currently has more than 165,000 followers, the Internet star’s family warned her fans about the dangers of pressurized capsules.

Burger’s loved ones even uploaded a picture of a can similar to the one that hit Burger and ended her life, writing as a caption to the image:

Here’s an example of the whip cream canister that exploded and struck Rebecca’s chest, resulting in her death. Let us be precise: the siphon that cause her death was sealed.

Do not use this type of device in your home! Tens of thousands of these defective appliances are still in circulation

whipped cream dispenser

The family also confirmed Burger’s passing, stating online that Rebecca died from an “accident in the home” on June 18.

The Associated Press reports that prosecutors are looking into the siphon that was used to create the dispenser in order to determine whether or not it was defective.

According to a French newspaper, Burger went into cardiac arrest following the incident, but emergency technicians on the scene were able to revive her heartbeat.

She remained unconscious and was transported to a local hospital… where she died the following day.

The 33-year old amassed an impressive viral following as she chronicled her life on social media over the years.

On June 10, she posted her first (and, sadly, last) travel vlog about a recent trip to Bali.

But Burger was mostly known for sharing workout tips, videos and photos on her Instagram page.

Ard’time, the manufacturer of this product, said the specific item Burger used had been pulled from the market and destroyed after an accident in February 2013.

It added that efforts had been made ever since to inform customers of potential safety hazards.

“Unfortunately, there are still lots of siphons of all brands that remain potentially dangerous as time passes,” the company said in a statement after Burger’s death.

According to BBC, one person who was hurt by an exploding whipped cream container told RTL radio in 2013:

“I had six broken ribs, and my sternum was broken. At the hospital, I was told that if the shock and blast had been facing the heart, I would be dead now.”

Meanwhile, a 2014 press release by the French economy ministry warned individuals about the potential dangers of whipped cream dispensers.

“Since 2010, several models of kitchen syphons, also called cream syphons, have turned out to be dangerous and have led to domestic accidents,” it read, adding:

“The explosions cause a high speed burst that can cause serious injuries to the hands or face.”

This story has received global attention due to the unusual nature of Burger’s death.

But that doesn’t make her passing any less tragic.

We send our condolences to the loved ones of Rebecca Burger and we hope she is resting in peace.

Bella Thorne Poses in Bikini with a Burger in Scott Disick"s Backyard

Bella Thorne might be trying to become the next model for Carl’s Jr., and she’s definitely back to hanging out with Scott Disick … based on these photos. The 19-year-old actress posed in a bikini while getting a grip on a massive burger –…

Bella Thorne: Check Out My Body ... I Mean, Burger!

No, this isn’t a Hardee’s commercial parody … we think.

It’s just Bella Thorne, flaunting her teenage beautiful person metabolism on Snapchat.

We’re not sure if she’s personally bullying her followers or if this is a refreshing break from the “yum, carrot sticks” posts that a lot of actresses make, so you’ll have to decide for yourselves.

Actually, as you’ll soon see, there’s a tomato in there, which makes this the most disgusting thing that Bella Thorne has ever done.

Well, except for getting her boob pawed by Scott Disick.

Otherwise, the burger looks fine.

It has enough lettuce that it’s basically a salad, but I’ve been known to get kale on my burger so I’m in no place to judge.

Bella looks fine (as in damn girl, you’re fine).

And while of course people with gorgeous bodies eat hamburgers all of the time, it’s so rare to see celebrities advertising genuinely delicious food.

Like, strawberries are delicious, but if you show me a plate of three strawberries, a half a kiwi, and some lightly seasoned chard with a “yum” caption and I’m gonna be wondering why you’re showing photos of garnish and where your meal is.

It’s not exclusively a celebrity thing, but that’s where you see it the most.

You see actresses tweet photos of tiny meals that grew in dirt.

You see actors post Instagram videos of their workouts.

Both are basically required for them to keep their jobs and it can’t be fun.

So seeing this from Bella is a little different … if she actually ate the whole thing.

We’re not so sure.

The burger looks pretty intact throughout Bella’s Snapchat adventures, but she did later express that she “felt so full.”

So we’re at least meant to assume that she ate it.

I’m personally a little grossed out that she’s touching it with her hands when utensils exist.

But maybe eating a burger with a knife and fork like a civilized person isn’t the look that she was going for.

But then again, the burger isn’t the true focus.

And neither is her temporarily pink hair.

Honestly, the burger was more of an attention-grabbing prop.

You know, like how she posed with Gregg Sulkin, but the burger has a more dynamic personality.

Your eyes latch onto the burger and you might get hungry.

But her body’s there to upstage the food every single time.

After all, even Bella Thorne’s nude photos might get old after a while — you gotta mix it up.

Even when she’s basically just showing her collarbones.

And especially when she’s showing exactly how skimpy her white seashell bikini is.

Ultimately, we only know two things based on these Snapchat antics:

-Bella Thorne is ridiculously hot, which is not news

-Bella Thorne is probably not on PETA’s list of favorites.

And neither am I, because after looking at these, I feel like I could drop like $ 10 on the McDonald’s dollar menu.

(Don’t judge me!)

She’s worth millions, but young actresses are always in the market for new work, so maybe a fast food place will see this and snatch her up to do some ads for them.

Giuliana Rancic Instagrams Juicy Burger, Swears She Ate It All

Giuliana Rancic is well aware of what everyone says about her.

That she’s sort of racist for that comment she made about Zendaya’s hair at the Academy Awards in February?

No. That’s what people were saying about her many months ago.

But critics continue to point to Rancic’s figure and make comments, scoffing at how skinny she is and suggesting that she eat a burger.

So, do you know what Rancic went ahead and did, according to an Instagram post this week? She ate a burger!

The television personality shared the above photo on her social media account, included with it an emoji of a burger and an emoji of some french fries and then wrote as a caption:

“Yes, I really did eat it…and finish it #eataburger.”

Pretty well played, Giuliana.

Back in April, Rancic addressed her haters, explaining that she has trouble gaining weight due to medication she is on in light of her past cancer diagnosis.

“I do not have an eating disorder,” she said at the time. “I have never had an eating disorder… In fact, I eat a lot. People always love to tweet: ‘Eat a burger.’ I eat burgers. It’s not working.”

But it’s gonna be fun to try, right?

That meal looks delicious!

In all seriousness, of course, we wish Rancic the best with all of her health issues. We know this can’t be easy.
