Adam Lind: Did He Sign Over His Parental Rights for Aubree?

Adam Lind is … well, he"s not a good person, for a whole lot of reasons.

He has several problems, and don"t worry, we"ll do a quick review on them, but as a result of all of these issues, he recently gave up his rights to his youngest child.

It"s sad in many, many ways.

But what about Aubree?

1. Ugh

Adam lind and daughter aubree

OK, so Adam is doing so hot these days.

2. Well …

Adam lind muscles

He’s always been a jerk … remember when Chelsea had just given birth to Aubree and he texted her to call her a “fat stretch mark bitch”?

3. So Awful

Adam lind image

He also wrote “tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake,” which is particularly heartbreaking, considering what just happened with his parental rights.

4. Hold Up

Hold up

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, all right?

5. Bad Boy

Adam’s been getting arrested for years now because he’s always had trouble with following the law and being a considerate person.

6. Why Though?

Adam lind shows off his body

For a while, his arrests were mostly based on his complete inability to follow the rules of the road — rules like “don’t drive drunk” and “don’t drive without a license.”

Teen Uses Sign Language to Assist Deaf and Blind Man on Flight

Flying in an airplane can feel frightening and isolating for anyone. This can be powerfully amplified for disabled passengers.

When an Alaska Airlines flight asked if anyone might be able to help communicate with a passenger who was both blind and deaf, a California teen stepped up.

That teen believes that she was put on that flight for a reason.

Alaska Airlines Clara Daly 1

An Alaska Airlines flight made an announcement, asking if anyone onboard knew sign language.

As it happened, a teen girl who is a Calabasas native, Clara Daly, has been learning ASL (American Sign Language), and she jumped at the chance to help.

There was a man on the flight with her who was not only deaf, but blind. As a result, she had to sign into his hand in order to communicate with him.

“They thought that he might need something,” Clara would later explain. “And they weren’t sure how to communicate.”

As it turns out, she says, no emergency situations came up in which she needed to translate. But she was still happy to help.

“He didn’t need anything,” Clara says. “He was just like lonely and wanted to talk”

Alaska Airlines Clara Daly 2

Clara’s mother, Jane Daly, shared a series of photos of the encounter and explained what had happened.

“Clara and I flew home yesterday.” Jane writes. “Our original flight from Boston was cancelled (of course!) so Alaskan Airline placed us on an earlier flight out.”

There’s always something when you fly, it seems.

“Clara and I made a mad dash to the airport to make the new flight! (we did, phew)” Jane says.

“Shortly after the flight took off,” Jane says. “A flight attendant made an announcement asking if anyone knew sign language.”

Fortunately, there was just one such person on the plane.

“Clara has been studying American Sign Language,” Jane says. “So she rang the flight attendant button.”

There was a twist, however.

“They explained that the passenger was not only deaf, but also blind,” Jane reveals.

Yes, like Helen Keller.

Jane explains what the attendant told them: “The only way you can communicate with him was by signing into his hand.”

Alaska Airlines Clara Daly 3

From what Jane says, Clara was eager to help.

“Clara jumped up and went to see if she could help…” Jane says proudly. “And she did!”

Jane had started learning ASL because of her own dyslexia, figuring that it was just another way to communicate without writing or reading, since her mind jumbles those letters.

Jane shares: “Several times he requested her assistance throughout the flight.”

Which may mean that Clara was being too modest when she claimed that he didn’t need her help, even if there were no emergencies.

“Toward the end of the flight he asked for her again,” Jane reveals. “And this time he just wanted to talk.”

“She spent the remainder of the flight until landing with him,” Jane says.

“He asked her lots of questions,” Jane explains. “And she signed-spelled the answers into his hand.”

Alaska Airlines Clara Daly 4

“The flight attendants and the passengers around him were all taken by Clara,” Jane says. “They took these photos which they shared with me this morning.”

That is so sweet. And Clara suggested that it might have been no mere coincidence.

“After the flight,” Jane reveals. “Clara told me that she thought it was meant to be that our original flight was cancelled and we were placed on this flight so that she could be there to help this man.”

That is such a positive way of looking at an otherwise unfortunate flight cancellation.

“His name is Timothy,” Jane shares. “Our original flight was direct to LA. The new flight had a layover in Portland. Timothy was flying to Portland.”

Jane also says that Clara is being modest about the entire thing.

“She’ll probably kill me for posting this, but – Proud of my girl. #alaskanairlines

Of course, that very sweet story went viral. Good news is always welcome.

There is no shortage of horrifying viral stories, after all. Especially from flights.

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry: Will They Sign a Prenup?

In less than two months Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will exchange vows before an audience of a couple thousand guests and millions of TV viewers.

Royal marriages are no longer the result of political alliances or arrangements made by the previous generation, but that doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to last.

It’s not something that anyone wants to dwell on in the heady buildup to a Meghan and Harry’s lavish wedding, but royal divorces are not unheard of.

And obviously, when two people with titles call it quits, there’s more at stake than who gets custody of the Keurig.

It’s enough to make us peasants wonder – when someone marries into the royal family, what sort of precautions do both sides take to make sure a fight about liking an Instagram photo doesn’t devolve into World War III?

The answer it seems, is absolutely there absolutely no such safeguards in place. At all.

In recent weeks, many have wondered if Harry and Meg had any sort of prenuptial agreement in place.

According to one royal expert, such a document would be an affront to centuries of history, as royal marriages rarely end badly, and when they do, the matter is decided not by a mediator, but by the swift blade of a guillotine.

Still too soon for Anne Boleyn jokes?

“Historically, members of the royal family have not had them,” royal expert Ingrid Seward tells People magazine when asked about prenups.

“They are more popular in the United States —it’s just not a British thing.”

When Seward says prenups are “not a British thing,” it’s more than her simply turning her nose up at the sky-high divorce rate in the colonies.

(Though there’s certainly an element of that, if we’re not mistaken.)

While judges in the UK might consider a prenup during a divorce hearing, the matter is entirely at they’re discretion.

Such arrangements aren’t considered legally binding, as they are in the US.

But we wouldn’t worry about Meghan in the event that things don’t work out with Harry.

She spent seven seasons on Suits, and while no one has ever watched a full episode, we’re pretty confident that it’s about lawyers, and not Men’s Wearhouse employees.

Regardless, Harry’s gonna like the way she looks on her wedding day. We guarantee it.

Burger King: Sorry About that Sign About Overdosing!

The idea of a Burger King establishment enacting a policy that bans customers from returning once they’ve had an overdose on the grounds sounds like the premise of a particularly cruel The Onion article.

Unfortunately, it’s real.

The Burger King in question even posted a sign, which you can see below.

Let’s be clear from the beginning:

This one overdose per customer limit is not a rule passed down from Burger King corporate to different managers.

But one particular Burger King in Worcester, Massachusetts decided that they needed to do something about the prevalence of drug use in their establishment.

According to WBZ, “It’s common knowledge, people do use those restrooms to do that sort of thing. There have been overdoses in there.”

And this is the sign that attracted the attention of police and, of course, of the internet.

“You are ONLY allowed ONE overdose and then you are banned from this establishment.”

Burger King Overdose Rule

Obviously, a number of critics — regardless of their opinions on the opioid epidemic that our nation faces — were shocked that a manager would even hang this in the first place.

The internet exists. Signs don’t stay secret.

On a surface level, the policy itself seems fair. If someone gets caught overdosing in a fast food place … it’s a business. You don’t need people nearly dying from drugs and frightening away customers who are there to eat food.

If this were a shelter, someone might have a point in saying that the policy isn’t compassionate. But Burger Kings are not shelters. They’re restaurants. Let people eat their delicious onion rings in peace.

At the same time, the way in which the sign was written — the phrasing — made it sound almost permissive.

As if Burger King is fine with drug use within the establishment up until you overdose. Then and only then do they draw the line.

Obviously, that does not reflect Burger King policy.

Now, let’s be clear — this sign wasn’t put up for no reason.

Between September of 2016 and September of 2017, this particular Burger King was the site of nine different overdoses. And, quite frankly, those are just the ones that got reported.

The problem is very real.

But the sign is not, um, the answer.

Police met with the manager in order to discuss, you know, better solutions.

Even people who are 100% in support of ending the prohibition of drugs and drug use, both because it’s the right thing to do and in an effort to end the current opioid epidemic, don’t think that people need to be shooting up or whatever inside of a Burger King.

And groups who work to support and advocate for those who are battling addiction agree, saying that signs like this one “don’t help.”

A Burger King spokesperson, whom we would like to imagine as a town crier reading out a royal edict, said:

“The actions of this Team Member were an isolated incident and do not reflect the Burger King brand values or the values of the Franchisee, who independently owns and operates this restaurant.”

Like many fast food chains, Burger King operates with a sort of … Burger Feudal system.

At the top is Burger King itself, the corporate entity. Beyond that are franchisees, whom we might consider to be “Burger Barons.” Then there are store managers, who are like vassals — or Burger Knights.

“The Franchisee is investigating this incident thoroughly and will take the actions they believe are appropriate.”

In other words, a manager is going to have some explaining to do to a rich person who probably owns a number of these places.

As a general rule, big companies do not like having to explain why one manager said or did something dumb.

Burger King itself doesn’t really deserve this bad press.

In fact, that they’ve kept a restaurant in such a troubled area to continue to serve the locals is commendable.

Different people will hold different opinions on how people struggling with addiction should be treated. Some want them thrown in prison, others want them sent for treatment. Others still believe that it’s their right to take these substances — even if it kills them.

But absolutely none of those people think that people have any business overdosing in a Burger King.
