Kardashians: Deceiving Fans With Illegal Instagrams?

The Kardashians are famous for being paid oodles of cash to promote a product, but are they playing by the rules (or rather, the law) when it comes to sponsored posts?

According to Page Six, a letter from watchdog group Truth In Advertising reportedly sent a letter to momager Kris Jenner’s legal team, warning her that they “have found that members of the Kardashian/Jenner family are engaged in deceptive marketing campaigns.”

The group has been meticulously following the Instagram accounts of Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, as well as their younger sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and gathered 27 companies – incluing Puma, Calvin Klein, JetSmarter, Fit Tea, Estée Lauder and Karl Lagerfeld – they were working with.

What the group found was “a plethora of posts that do not clearly or conspicuously disclose their relationships with the companies being promoted in the posts as is required by federal law.”

The group has informed Jenner that if the issues aren’t “fully corrected” by Wednesday, the family will be reported to the Federal Trade Commission.

It’s no secret that the Kardashians have been hawking products since Keeping Up With The Kardashians became wildly popular in 2007, but federal law requires that a company and its participants clearly state that the post is sponsored. 

“The law is clear and people are not following it, and it’s not being enforced very often,” TINA spokeswoman Bonnie Patten told Page Six.

Social media is becoming the new medium for advertising, and this law is making it even more difficult for a celebrity or person of influence to share a product with followers without being asked, “is this sponsored? Are you being paid to promote this?”

The Fashion Law website broke it down for readers, clarifying what constitutes a sponsored post.

“Is posting a photo an endorsement? The FTC says yes!” The Fashion Law explains.

“A photo is enough to trigger the need to disclose: Simply posting a picture of a product on social media, such as on Pinterest or Instagram, or a video of you using it, could convey that you like and approve of the product. If it does, it’s an endorsement and must be disclosed.”

Rob Kardashian Deletes All Instagrams of Blac Chyna: Is It Over?

Is he trying to tell us something?

Today, the internet realized that Rob Kardashian deleted all photos from his Instagram account except for one, which features the sock designer looking away from the camera with a tooth pick in his mouth.

This move has followers wondering if he and Blac Chyna have called off their engagement.  

Kardashian did the same thing back in March, and around the same time, Chyna posted (and later deleted) this caption on her own account:

“When you just get out of a relationship & your hoe friend welcomes you back into the World of Hoe.”

At the time, a source confirmed to People Magazine that the couple had broken up after less than two months of dating.

“They had a fight and both need some space,” the source explained.

“They have had a great few weeks, but things got too serious too fast. They were spending a lot of time together and not giving each other enough space.”

A few days later, Kardashian shared a message with fans explaining his motive behind a clean slate.

“Chy and I are not broken up we just feel like it would be a lot healthier for our relationship if we kept a lot more to ourselves,” he wrote.

“It’s impossible to have a positive relationship with so much negativity from the media and outsiders and we would appreciate it if everyone respects that –ChyRo.”

This most recent move could be for the couple’s new reality show, Rob & Chyna.  Whether it’s a story line or a publicity stunt to draw interest is anyone’s guess.

If this is motivated by a break-up, both fans and certain members of Kardashian’s family could be tempted to say “I told you so.”  After all, a baby and an engagement in less than six months is a little insane.

Khloe Kardashian, in particular, is still coming around to the fact that her brother is marrying a woman he’s kept from the family since they started dating.

Are Rob and Chyna broken up?  Do they want more privacy?  Or is this one big publicity stunt?

Blake Lively Instagrams About Her Butt, Royally Pisses Off Internet

Back in 1992, Sir Mix-A-Lot released “Baby Got Back,” his famous ode to big asses that many credit with helping to launch the national butt obsession that continues to this day.

Needless, to say Kim Kardashian owes a lot to the rapper. Blake Lively, on the other hand, is learning the hard way today that Mix-A-Lot’s lyrics are dangerous in the wrong hands.

Last night, Blake posted the above photo of herself at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival with a caption reading, “LA face with an Oakland booty.”

It’s a line from “Baby Got Back,” and Blake clearly meant to call attention to her proudest assets because…having paparazzi scream her name while she walks the red carpet in a gown that costs more than most people’s cars doesn’t do enough for her ego?

We’re not really sure, but the caption did not go over well with some of Blakes’ Instagram followers. 

Many have complained that the remark is racially insensitive, as the implication of the lyric is that women from the primarily black and Latino city of Oakland are more blessed in the backside area, and Blake is essentially reducing them to a punchline here.

It’s not the first time that Blake has been accused of co-opting or other cultures or displaying a lack of compassion for the plight of black people in America.

Last year, Lively wrote about her love for the style antebellum South on her short-lived Preserve website.

In case you’re not familiar “antebellum” means pre-war, which in this case means pre-Civil War, which means Blake was waxing nostalgic about a time before slavery was abolished.

The piece was poorly received and may have contributed to the site being shut down.

Most of her press coverage lately has centered around rumors about Blake’s second pregnancy (which she has yet to confirm), and while the 28-year-old was reportedly not happy with the invasion of her privacy, she likely preferred the bump-watch to this current controversy. 

We’re not gonna wade into the debate over whether Blake’s caption was inappropriate or simply an innocent (if somewhat insensitive) joke, but we will say we had no idea she was packing such a sizable ‘donk.

And for that, we thank her.

Tori Spelling Instagrams Plastic Surgery Visit, Likely Regrets It

This woman grew up in one of the world’s most superficial cities, and has gone under the knife for a breast augmentation and a nose job, so taking a photo with one of the doctors from Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery is normal.  I think.

To say that Spelling has been stressed out over the past two years is an understatement.  She and husband Dean McDermott have faced financial issues, as well as his admission to cheating on her while on location in Canada in 2014.

“Tori’s face is not looking good,” a source told OK! back in November 2014.

“Everything is sagging because she doesn’t have the money to maintain some of the major work she’s had done. She’s starting to deeply regret ever going under the knife.”

More recently, Spelling and McDermott were slapped with a lawsuit from American Express for failing to pay their bills.  

Even worse, Candy Spelling confirmed (while getting into her chauffeured vehicle) that she pays for just about everything for Spelling and her kids.

So, Spelling could be forgiven for popping into BHPS for a little refresher, especially if it’s complimentary (because CELEBRITY).

Somehow, The Hills star Stephanie Pratt makes $ 7,000 a post off of her 680,000 Instagram followers. The Internet is a strange place.

Kim Zolciak: I Don"t Photoshop My Instagrams, Get Over It!

When you share pictures from the dermatologist’s office, you have to expect some snark.

Kim Zolciak, she who is unapologetic about her body and shameless when it comes to Instagram, had a photo taken from Magnolia Med Spa, where she was getting a Venus Freeze treatment.

The treatment is described as a non-invasive way to contour the body, and reduce cellulite and wrinkles by tightening the skin.

“Gotta keep my shit tight!” she wrote. “#BeachBoundTomorrow #LastWeekBeforeIStartFilming #StarBucksInHandOfCourse.”

The photo of Zolciak looked so flawless that some accused the reality star of photoshopping.

Not one to sit back and let the backlash wash over her, Zolciak wrote a message to them haters, complete with a bikini photo of herself in paradise.

“Let me share something with you… You see who’s holding me, you see where I am, my kids are here… You know why I have the life I have… Because of how I lived it, how I treat people, what I give back, and how I think,” Zolciak proclaimed.  “I’m so fuckin over all you bullying trolls!

I take great pride in the fact that I’ve followed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson since his days with the WWE.  This dude created the original stink eye.

Yesterday, Mr. Rock hit the gym for what we can only assume was leg day.  

After his reps, The Rock showed his Instagram followers what lies beneath those pants.

Brielle Zolciak may still be best known as the daughter of unstable reality star Kim Zolciak, but with a half a million Instagram followers and a fondness for posting racy selfies and sharing every intimate detail of her life online, the 18-year-old clearly has designs on becoming famous in her own right.

Giuliana Rancic Instagrams Juicy Burger, Swears She Ate It All

Giuliana Rancic is well aware of what everyone says about her.

That she’s sort of racist for that comment she made about Zendaya’s hair at the Academy Awards in February?

No. That’s what people were saying about her many months ago.

But critics continue to point to Rancic’s figure and make comments, scoffing at how skinny she is and suggesting that she eat a burger.

So, do you know what Rancic went ahead and did, according to an Instagram post this week? She ate a burger!

The television personality shared the above photo on her social media account, included with it an emoji of a burger and an emoji of some french fries and then wrote as a caption:

“Yes, I really did eat it…and finish it #eataburger.”

Pretty well played, Giuliana.

Back in April, Rancic addressed her haters, explaining that she has trouble gaining weight due to medication she is on in light of her past cancer diagnosis.

“I do not have an eating disorder,” she said at the time. “I have never had an eating disorder… In fact, I eat a lot. People always love to tweet: ‘Eat a burger.’ I eat burgers. It’s not working.”

But it’s gonna be fun to try, right?

That meal looks delicious!

In all seriousness, of course, we wish Rancic the best with all of her health issues. We know this can’t be easy.
