Dancing with the Stars Recap: The Most Shocking Elimination EVER!

We’re just one week away from the Dancing with the Stars season finale, and Monday’s installment of the veteran reality series sent another two couples home.

As has been the case with this series for quite some time, the viewer votes can help bridge the gap to allow more marginal performers to make it to the end.

But we’re pretty sure the stunning blindside at the close of this two-hour installment will go down as one of the most shocking eliminations to date.

Let’s break down the performances, shall we?

Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess

Bobby and Sharna’s first performance was the Salsa to “GDFR” by Flo Rida. It was a random song choice for sure, and it only showed viewers that Bobby was one of the weaker performers.

Poor Sharna has been trying to make Bobby a little less wooden over the weeks, but he’s peaked. They scored 21/30 for that one.

Thankfully, their Jive to “Gimme Some Lovin” by The Spencer Davis Group was a little bit better. Len showed up in the rehearsal to make Bobby a little less wooden.

For this performance, it definitely helped the couple out because they earned their highest score yet thanks to the judges. It was a 24/30.

Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten

Everyone loves a good love story, right?

Ever since Alexis and Alan turned up the heat to reveal they were an item, the viewers have lapped up every single performance.

Their Waltz to “Water” by Bishop Briggs was not one of their best, and Len noticed the glaring issue right off the bat. They went for style over substance.

Still, they garnered a 28/30 score from it, so not too shabby.

However, their Jive to “Yes” by Merry Clayton brought them a lot of praise. It was a lot better than their first jive of the season, so it helped highlight the growth the couple has experienced.

Yes, they got a perfect score!

Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson

We’re beginning to think Joe may have had a better chance if he competed on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors. He comes across as immature, and that might have earned him some more leeway with a different set of coaches.

He and Jenna went with a somewhat romantic number, and it snagged them 22/30.

The good news is that Joe has started to improve, but it could be too little, too late. The Quickstep to “Check It Out” by Oh the Larceny was certainly one of his best-received numbers to date.

However, it was a 24/30 score, and most of the other performers have pulled in multiple perfect scores.

Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke

We’re not getting ahead of ourselves here:

Juan Pablo and Cheryl have been the ones to watch all season long. Most of their performances have been flawless, and that continued with their Argentine Tango and Salsa.

There’s nothing to say about them we’ve not said before. They’re outstanding, and they secured another two perfect scores.

Surely they should have a guaranteed spot in the finale, right?

Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe

Evanna and Keo started the season off in the middle of the pack, but they shifted the needle in a big way midseason.

The Contemporary to “Stand Up for Something” by Andra Day. Evanna dedicated the stunning performance to her late friend and director Simon Fitzmaurice, who helped shape Evanna into the fine young woman she is today.

It landed her and Keo another perfect score!

Sadly, their follow-up performance wasn’t quite as solid according to the judges. The Foxtrot is fast-paced, so some of the best dancers struggle with it.

They garnered a 28/30 score.

Milo Manheim and Witney Carson

Milo and Witney have been up there with Juan Pablo and Cheryl from the get-go, so the big surprise here is that neither of the two performances got a perfect score.

Milo dedicated the Argentine Tango to his mother, and it was one of the best of the night. Len admitted that it was difficult to grade a performance that came after Juan Pablo’s showstopper.

Surely that’s not grounds to dock points for another solid performance. In any case, it was a 27/30 score.

The couple’s Cha Cha was similarly solid, but they still missed out on a perfect score. Yes, we wish we were kidding here.

They got a 28/30.

Joe and Jenna, Alexis and Alan, and Juan Pablo and Cheryl were all revealed to be in jeopardy. It was a true stunner because Bobby and Sharna should have been in the bottom three.

In the end, Joe and Jenna and Juan Pablo and Cheryl lost their places ahead of the finale.

It was another installment that showed the importance of the viewer vote!

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Who Survived Double Elimination Night?

Dancing with the Stars is gearing up for its big finish in the coming weeks.

As such, Monday’s episode sent not one, but two couples home.

Surely that whad to spell the end of the line for Grocery Store Joe and Bobby Bones, right?

Well, this is Dancing with the Stars, and the voting has never made that much sense, so let’s run down the performances from the episode.

John Schneider and Emma Slater – Jazz – “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” by John Denver

John started the season off in a rough spot, but he’s really picked up the pace over the last several weeks and has narrowed the gap in scoring department with some of the others.

John admitted that he was still cut up about his divorce and that it would be great to see his kids, but it seems there’s a divide in his family right about now.

The performance was fun, and energetic, further confirming that he’s improving. The judges noted that there was an improvement and voted accordingly.

Judges’ Score: 25/30

Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe – Rumba – “Every Little Thing” with a live performance by Carly Pearce

Despite being middle of the pack when the season got underway, Evanna snagged a perfect score Monday night, and it meant she was officially in the big leagues.

Evanna was open about this track being personal for her, so it made sense that she channeled all of her energy into it.

Judges’ Score: 30/30

Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke – Charleston – “One Shot” by Hunter Hayes

Juan Pablo and Cheryl were ecstatic that they secured a perfect score last week, and aimed to keep up the pace in this crucial week.

We didn’t expect any lees for them, and their Charleston oozed elegance and creativity.

Judges Score: 30/30

Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson – Tango – “Burning Man” by Dierks Bentley ft. brothers Osbourne

Joe may be showing signs of life in the ballroom, but he’s still way below where he should be at this stage of the competition.

From missed steps to a lack of dancing ability, he should have really been sent home weeks ago.

Judges’ Score: 21/30

Milo Manheim and Witney Carson – Foxtrot – “Born to Love You” with a live performance by LANCO

Milo and Witney have dominated the competition from the get-go, and that’s in large part down to their chemistry.

The Foxtrot was fast-paced and only showed that these two are the ones to beat at the end of the line.

Judges’ Score: 29/30

DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold – Viennese Waltz, “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton

Is there a cuter pairing than DeMarcus and Lindsay? They bring their A-game every single week on the ballroom floor, and this Viennese Waltz was no different.

Len noted, however, that there was an issue with the footwork from DeMarcus, and he made a great point.

They could get a perfect score if DeMarcus went all the way with his footwork.

Judges’ Score: 27/30

Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten – Samba – “Ladies in the ’90s” with a live performance by Lauren Alaina

Consistency is key, especially if you’re at the top of your game, and this duo turned up the heat with another sizzling performance.

There was not one thing to hate about the performance, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that it’s going to be a tough battle to the finish line.

The couple also confirmed they shared their first kiss, so the showmance was well and truly a thing!

Judges’ Score: 29/30

Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess – Viennese Waltz – “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with a live performance by Chris Janson

Bobby and Sharna were less than impressed with their middle of the road scores last week, so they opted to switch things up in a big way.

Thankfully, the country theme helped them turn in their best performance in weeks.

Judges’ Score: 24/30

John and Emma, DeMarcus and Lindsay, and Evanna and Keo were the only couples in jeopardy.

But we had to say goodbye to John and Emma and DeMarcus and Lindsay.

Yikes.

The Voice Recap: Who Survived Double Elimination Night?!

We’re getting closer to The Voice Season 14’s finale, and that means it’s time to whittle the contestants down to ensure only the best performers make it all the way to the end.

Monday’s results show was a surprising one. The reason for that was that everyone turned in a solid performance, and it made it obvious the popular vote was going to come into play.

Before we got to the elimination, we had to endure a string of performances. It would make sense at this stage to have a more streamlined series, and that would include eliminating at the end of Monday’s episode.

The Voice is dropping in the ratings, and that could be attributed to the sheer amount of filler. Now, that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the performance from Charlie Puth. His pathway to stardom is an exciting one.

After Charlie’s spectacular, it was down to Five Seconds of Summer to wow the audience with a rendition of “Youngblood.” It was just as great as you would expect.

Sent to Safety

Kyla Jade (Team Blake)

Britton Buchanan (Team Alicia)

Brynn Cartelli (Team Kelly)

Jackie Foster (Team Alicia)

Pryor Baird (Team Blake)

Kaleb Lee (Team Kelly)

Spensha Baker (Team Blake)

That meant Christiana Danielle, Jackie Verna, and Rayshun LaMarr were the bottom three and had to perform to try and stay in the competition.

Christiana Danielle (Team Alicia) – “Unchain My Heart”

Christiana has great vocal range, and out of the three performances, her one showed her in the best light. This was the best song she could have hoped for on the night, but was it enough to save her?

Jackie Verna (Team Adam) – “I Told You So”

Jackie’s performances have been all over the place of late, and her latest number proved that she was not a consistent performer. It was off-key, and it looked like she could be exiting the process.

Rayshun LaMarr (Team Adam) –  “Let’s Get It On”

Rayshun has flirted with the bottom several times, and this latest number was more of the same from him. The man is struggling to get the votes.

When all was said and done, Rayshun was saved, while Christiana and Jackie were given the pink slip.

We now have just eight performers left, and with the finale fast approaching, there’s no telling who will win,

The Voice Recap: The Most Predictable Elimination Yet?

With the live shows of The Voice Season 14 now well underway, it’s becoming increasingly easier to tell who is circling the drain.

With most of the performers turning in solid performances on Monday night, it left a few stragglers who would likely be on the chopping block during Tuesday night’s installment.

Per usual, the results show was stuffed with filler, but at least we got to hear Kelly Clarkson sing! The talented performer joined her team for a rendition of “Don’t Take the Money” which was not that great.

It sounded like they were all singing it from inside a tin can, but there was no mention of whether there were issues with the performance on the technical side.

We also got performances from Maroon 5 and the Rise cast. Rise is the new NBC drama that’s trying so hard to be Glee it hurts.

Sent to Safety

Britton Buchanan (Team Alicia)

Brynn Cartelli (Team Kelly)

Sharane Calister (Team Adam)

Pryor Baird (Team Blake)

Christiana Danielle (Team Alicia)

Spensha Baker (Team Blake)

Kaleb Lee (Team Kelly)

Jackie Verna (Team Adam)

Kyla Jade (Team Blake)

Jackie Foster (Team Alicia)

That left D.R. King and Rayshun LaMarr on the chopping block, and both artists got one last chance to impress the world.

D.R. King (Team Kelly) –  “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”

Like Monday night, D.R. turned in a performance that you would expect from someone at the start of the competition.

Simply put, it was all over the place. It had shaky vocals, and it was difficult to imagine D.R. finding a way to bring himself back from the brink with this one.

Rayshun LaMarr (Team Adam) – “I Can’t Stand the Rain”

Rayshun went with a slower song, and it was a return to form for him. The vocals were off the charts, and it made it very clear who would be making it through to the Top 11.

As expected, Rayshun was saved, while D.R. King was sent packing. This highlights a bigger issue for The Voice: Why do the powers that be allow some of the weaker contestants to get far?

We’re not going to name names, but a lot of better vocalists have been sent home and D.R. has skated through.

In any case, we’re down to 11 contestants, and the eliminations will get more substantial because there are only a handful of episodes left this season.

What did you think of the elimination?

Heather Morris and Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Dancing With the Stars Elimination: We Got F--ked!

Heather Morris and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are speaking out on this week’s stunning Dancing With the Stars results, and they’re pissed.

Sure, they’re a little bit more diplomatic about it than we might be, but it’s abundantly clear they agree with the Internet on this assessment:

They got f–ked!

In what was arguably the most shocking, and dubious, ouster in the 24-season history of Dancing With the Stars, Heather and Maks are out.

After they turned in a perfect score – the only one of the season, no less – and all the men were arbitrarily declared safe ahead of time.

It made literally no sense on any level, calling into question why the results don’t factor in routines we just watched 20 MINUTES EARLIER.

Moreover, why was there a men vs. women dance-off in the first place if one side already “won” ahead of time (they obviously lost on points)?

Totally ridiculous and unfair.

Maks and Heather aren’t offering up sound bites as candid as that, but in speaking with ET, they’re were still surprised about the outcome.

“Well, I mean we’ve had a few [surprising upsets],” Maks said.

“[It’s been] 24 seasons of the show … [but] I just never thought that that one of my [partners] was going to be a part of that shock.”

“Brandy [Norwood] and I didn’t make the final [in season 11] when I thought she was one of the best dancers that season.”

“Even [that] wasn’t as shocking as this. This is crazy.”

Chmerkovskiy was truly baffled by the elimination, saying that it was “so wrong, in terms of [dancing talent],” that it was “almost OK.”

That’s a glass-half-full attitude for you: Dancing With the Stars’ results system is now such a joke that you can’t even get upset about it.

It has to sting, though, especially under the circumstances.

After missing several weeks due to injury, Maks returned Monday night and dominated with Heather in a sultry rumba set to TLC’s “Waterfalls.”

The captivating, film noir-themed routine earned them roars from the crowd, raves from the judges and a perfect score: 40 out of 40.

Yet Nick Viall remains on the show and they don’t.

Morris, the former Glee star and Beyonce backup dancer, said she always prepares herself for the reality that she could get eliminated.

“I feel like, [as] with any show that you watch on TV, it’s like, you don’t really know what’s coming next,” Morris shared, taking the high road.

“I was kinda preparing for anything that could happen. So it was like, ‘OK, if this is going to happen, let’s just be positive and go out the right way.”

According to Morris, the part of their elimination that made her sad is the fact that “we all want to see [Chmerkovskiy] dance again.”

Even then, she’s exiting stage left without a parting shot:

“Everybody is so fantastic and welcoming, [so] it was like, nice to [know] that I’m saying goodbye, but I’m also going to see these people again.”

Maks doesn’t quite share that same sense of Zen.

“I’m pissed,” he admitted, though he concurred.

“[But] it’s not the last time [Heather Morris and I] will be doing stuff together and, you know, I’m looking forward to when that happens.”

What do you think? Was this robbery the biggest stunner in DWTS history, or were some of these previous elimination shockers worse?

The Voice Results: A Most Emotional Elimination Night

The Voice eliminated its first contestant of the final 12 last night, in an emotional episode for entirely different and much bigger reasons.

Tuesday began with a tribute to Team Adam finalist Christina Grimmie from Season 6, who was tragically shot and killed last summer.

Grimmie’s murder at the hands of a deranged “fan” at a concert shook fans to the core nationwide, but none more so than at The Voice.

“As you know, family is very, very important to us here at The Voice,” said host Carson Daly. “And last year we tragically lost one of our own.”

“The incredibly talented and beautiful Christina Grimmie.”

“Tonight, in memory of our good friend and along with Christina’s family, we’re honored to help announce the Christina Grimmie Foundation.”

The foundation, Carson explained, will benefit “those impacted by gun violence, and families just like her own affected by breast cancer.”

The Grimmie family was on hand and clearly moved, even more so when former coach Adam Levine went on to address them directly.

“God, I loved her so much,” Adam told her family.

“I miss her. It is unfair she is not here. We are going to sing a little song. I am going to be singing every word to her in her honor.

“Thank you for being here. Christina, we love you.”

Adam and his remaining Season 12 contestants Mark Isaiah, Lilli Passero, and Jesse Larson then sang “Hey Jude” in Christina’s memory.

After that, The Voice results didn’t feel all that important at all, but following The Voice Top 12 performances Monday, it had to be done.

In a bit of a surprise, Lilli survived, while another Team Adam singer, Mark Isaiah, landed in the bottom two with Team Gwen’s Troy Ramey.

It call came down to the Instant Save …

Troy, who may have come in with a slight edge, did not take advantage of it by electing to perform the Dobie Gray classic, “Drift Away.”

He did a nice job with it, but that’s the type of mellow song you play in the car that makes you smile and, well, drift away in your mind.

A.K.A. not tweet the s–t out of it.

Mark took that opportunity that this left open for him with a rendition of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” that showed some gusto.

Don’t be fooled, he’s no Bruno (no one is, but this wasn’t close), yet the effort, and pure heartfelt nature of the performance was clear.

Adam then made a plea for his fans to bring his singer – his family member – through to next week, and they obliged. Mark was saved.

Dancing With the Stars Results: The Most Shocking Elimination EVER?!

Dancing With the Stars’ 2017 season is already coming down to the wire, with the margin of error narrowing with each passing week on ABC.

Heather Morris, Simone Biles and Rashad Jennings, Normani Kordei, David Ross, Bonner Bolton and Nancy Kerrigan have all hung tough.

Oh, and Nick Viall is still on the show.

Whose luck would finally run out Monday night, as the top eight dancers competed under the ever-changing format for a spot next week?

Incredibly, it was a dancer NO ONE saw coming.

On Monday night’s Boy Bands vs. Girls Groups-themed episode, the remaining contestants took the stage fighting for survival as always.

A bizarre format change and a dubious voting system ended up doing in one of the best dancers, though. Let’s break down the scores:

Simone Biles with Sasha Farber – Samba – “Survivor” by Destiny’s Childo

Score: 35/40

Bonner Bolton with Sharna Burgess – Rumba – “I Want It That Way” by Backstreet Boys

Score: 30/40

Nancy Kerrigan with Artem Chigvintsev – Paso Doblé – “Free Your Mind” by En Vogue

Score: 33/40

Nick Viall with Peta Murgatroyd – Jive – “Fun, Fun, Fun” by The Beach Boys

Score: 28/40

Normani Kordei with Valentin Chmerkovskiy – Salsa – “When I Grow Up” by The Pussycat Dolls

Score: 38/40

David Ross with Lindsay Arnold – Argentine Tango – “I Want You Back” by *NSYNC

Score: 29/40

Rashad Jennings with Emma Slater – Tango – “Reach Out, I’ll Be There” by The Four Tops

Score: 37/40

Heather Morris with Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Rumba – “Waterfalls” by TLC

Score 40/40!

That’s right, the first perfect score of the season! But before team dances … it was announced which “team” would be safe next week.

One would think that because David, Nick and Bonner are all on the male team, then obviously, based on talent, they’d be in jeopardy.

One would be wrong, though.

The women, a group that includes Heather, Normani, Simone and Nancy, were in danger of elimination regardless of how they performed.

Those four went on to outscore the men, 34-33, in their respective team dances, but again, it doesn’t matter at all, which is so ridiculous.

So which one got eliminated? Remarkably, it came down to Nancy and Heather for elimination, and even more remarkable than that?

Heather Morris is OUT!

That’s right. After Morris hit the dance floor with returning pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy for the first time since week one, she’s done.

After he choreographed a rumba for the duo to the tunes of TLC’s “Waterfalls” that was lauded by audiences and judges alike, she’s done.

After she earned a score that was literally perfect, which no other dancer had done this week or this entire season, she’s done.

“Well, you hear the reaction. I’m shocked, audience not happy, how are you?” Erin Andrews asked Morris over the loud boos of wrath.

“I’m okay,” Morris said.

“It’s a hard competition and I’m really happy that I got to do exactly what I got to do. It was very, very fun,” she said, high road taken.

“I have to say, in 24 seasons, that was probably the most vocally unhappy reaction we’ve gotten about a result,” Tom Bergeron said.

That’s saying something, as there have been more than a few Dancing With the Stars results shockers over that span. But he’s not wrong.

Maks, like his partner, added, “I’m good, I’m good. I put in a lot of work to try and come back and give her the chance. I’m not saying anything.”

Added Morris, whom he called an inspiration: “I really really want to say thank you to both of them because they were magical. It was fantastic.”

What a joke.

Ironically, some people were saying Dancing With the Stars is rigged FOR Morris because the actress she used to he a dancer by trade.

Instead, a truly absurd and unfair voting system and arbitrary decision to keep the men safe (?!) combined to doom Heather last night.

It’s time for the show to rethink things. Yes, it’s a popularity contest, and the best dancers don’t always win, but this makes literally no sense.

Celebrity Apprentice Recap: Triple Elimination Time

Celebrity Apprentice has been full of twists and turns over the last few weeks, but nothing could have prepared us for the drama that paved the way for a triple elimination.

As the episode got underway, the remaining contestants were told that they would be making a marketing campaign for Lorissa’s Kitchen.

Brooke was quick to volunteer to be project manager in order to try and and redeem herself due to the drama from last week.

Being a fitness expert definitely helped Brooke excel. She knew the market, but she was less than impressed when she learned that the other team was planning to copy their idea.

Unsurprisingly, Brooke managed to help her team win the competition. Lisa decided that it was best for her to go after Vince and Chael and claimed that they were the weakest links.

Ultimately, Vince was the one sent packing after revealing that he did play a part in losing.

The second challenge of the night found the teams creating a brochure for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Matt and Carson stepped up as the project managers because they each felt that it was about time they actually participated.

It’s crazy how far some people will go in order to stay on the sidelines to get further.

With the contestants being whittled down, that’s becoming pretty darn tough.

That said, the pair were clearly the men for the job. They were both huge fans of the franchise, so it made sense for them to at least try.

Carson and his team struggled to come up with a concept for their campaign and you could cut the tension with a knife.

They were literally drawing straws to figure out a plan of action.

Matt, however, was quoting parts of the book to his team members, but did they really have it in the bag?

By the end of the day, it was clear Carson’s team were still struggling, so Chael decided it would be a good move to cut the cord to buy them some more time.

In the boardroom, Arnold teased Matt about his love for the franchise.

His team members were very positive about the experience of him as a project manager.

Clearly, being a fan of the franchise helped. Arnold switched gears to Chael, who he fired on the spot for cutting the cord.

The rest of the contestants were visibly shocked, but they have one less person to beat to the end now.

Matt’s team won and got a whole lot of praise with it. Carson’s team were pretty much slammed every step of the way and Carson was concerned that he was the next person on the chopping block.

He brought Porsha and Lisa back because he felt that they were the pair who caused the most problems throughout the competition. Porsha made a mistake by trying to talk her way out of trouble and Arnold sent her home.

As much as she tried to explain herself, Arnold was tired of her talking over him.

There’s only so many times someone can talk over the Terminator.

What an episode, you guys! Who do you want to win?

Sound off below!

Paula Deen Whines Over Dancing with the Stars Elimination

As of Monday night, Paula Deen is no longer Dancing with the Stars.

The occasionally racist chef was voted out of the ABC competition, expressing a bit of relief at first by saying she can now go home and “see [her] grandbabies.”

But Deen then spoke to Us Weekly after her elimination and sounded a tad bitter over how it all went down.

“[The judges] have been hard on me since the very start,” Deen said.” I don’t know.”

Oh, but we know: the judges have been hard on you because you aren’t very good. That’s sort of their job. That’s how the whole thing works.

“I figured two weeks and I’ve been here six!” added Deen.

“So four weeks is a bonus, a pure gift. And I’ve made wonderful friends here that’ll last forever and that’s worth its weight in gold, right there.”

The celebrity chef was teamed with Mark Ballas this season, with the tandem executing a rather racy routine the week before getting voted out.

She concluded by praising Ballas as “so much fun” and then said she hopes she can serve as an inspiration to others.

“I hope everybody saw me over these six weeks and I hope it gives them hope and encouragement, Deen said.

“I hope all the women out there got the message that I was trying to send to them. Get up and do it!”
