Meryl Streep: Feuding with Karl Lagerfeld Over Oscars Gown!
High drama ahead of the Oscars tonight, y’all.
And, believe it or not, it involves the Academy Awards goddess herself, Meryl Streep.
It all started on Friday when Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld claimed in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily that Meryl had originally chosen a Chanel dress for the awards ceremony, but then she ditched Chanel in favor of a designer who would pay her to wear their dress.
He said that he’d designed the dress and that they’d started to make it, but then a few days later Meryl’s people called and told them “Don’t continue the dress. We found someone who will pay us.”
The dress that Chanel made for her cost around $ 105,000, and Karl said that while he would make dresses for celebrities and give the dresses to them, he wouldn’t pay simply for his design to be worn by a famous person.
As for the fate of the dress, Karl said that she could keep it, since it was made specifically for her.
“It’s couture,” he explained. “It’s perfect for her. A genius actress, but cheapness also, no?”
And he’s right — it does sound pretty cheap. To be given such a ridiculously expensive dress is generous enough, but to demand to be paid for wearing such a dress? It’s more than a little absurd.
But here’s the thing: all that really, really doesn’t sound like something Meryl would do.
And, according to Meryl herself, she never did.
In a statement, she explained that it is “against her personal ethics” to be paid to wear a gown for a red carpet event. Which makes sense — Meryl Streep is anything but tacky.
Karl was quick to apologize, explaining that “After an informal conversation, I misunderstood that Ms. Streep may have chosen another designer due to renumeration, which Ms. Streep’s team has confirmed is not the case.”
“I regret this controversy and wish Ms. Streep well with her 20th Academy Award nomination.”
But Meryl wasn’t having it. Not even a little bit.
Another statement Meryl released through a rep said that “Karl Lagerfeld, a prominent designer, defamed me, my stylist, and the illustrious designer whose dress I chose to wear, in an important industry publication.”
“That publication printed this defamation, unchecked. Subsequently, the story was picked up globally, and continues globally, to overwhelm my appearance at the Oscars, on the occasion of my record-breaking 20th nomination, and to eclipse this honor in the eyes of the media, my colleagues and the audience.”
She added that “Mr. Lagerfeld’s generic ‘statement’ of regret for this ‘controversy’ was not an apology.”
So yeah, it’s pretty safe to say that Meryl is pissed.
Everyone should know better than to cross such an international treasure like this.

Counting On Season Premiere Recap: The Jinger Gown
On the season premiere of TLC’s Counting On last night, Jinger Duggar’s epic quest to procure the perfect wedding dress was chronicled.
And that was no easy feat, let us tell you.
After months of hype, Counting On Season 3 Episode 1 introduced viewers to the long list of requirements for Jinger’s wedding dress:
A seriously long train, three-quarter or longer sleeves, lace detailing and a modest neckline were just the beginning. This was serious.
(Why they were debuting with this storyline when they already aired a Jinger wedding special is news to us, but that’s TLC for you.)
The bride-to-be had naturally thought a lot about her bridesmaids, even if she hadn’t told anyone yet. The obvious picks for the job?
“Jana, Jill, Jessa, Joy, Anna, Johanna,” Jinger said, adding there would be 10 in total, including childhood friends and Jeremy’s sister.
Jessa Duggar was named Jinger’s maid of honor, but also hadn’t been informed before Jinger casually mentioned while dress shopping.
Not that she was that surprised, as she’s closest in age to (and basically best friends in the world) with the future Mrs. Jeremy Vuolo.
“I guess I kind of figured that would be the case,” Jessa said.
But, at the same time, “I didn’t want to expect it.”
At the dress store, Jinger could not wait to start trying them on, but the first two did not get it done. It’s a process, remember. Patience.
While this was going on, Derick Dillard and Ben Seewald met up with Jeremy Vuolo’s dad to discuss parenting multiple kids at once.
This not-at-all-staged conversation came as they were caring for Spurgeon and Israel solo so that the women could focus on shopping.
Both Derick and Ben, of course, recently got Jill Duggar pregnant and Jessa Duggar pregnant, respectively, and are expecting a second.
Mr. Vuolo said that the guys will be alright, as raising two young ones at the same time isn’t so bad … you can still divide and conquer.
Three or more? That’s another story indeed.
Once you get to that number of kids, or 19 for that matter, then you basically need another adult (cough, Jana Duggar) to help you out.
Who do you think will have more kids when all is said and done, Jill or Jessa? When you factor in their interest in adoption, it’ll be a lot!
Jeremy’s dad also told Ben not to compare one child to another because people are all different and children are all special as individuals.
Sound advice all of us could learn from.
Back at the bridal salon, Jinger fell in love with a gown that featured a huge 12-foot train, which met her specifications and then some.
That’s too much for one person to manage alone, especially for pregnant Jessa, but fortunately, Jinger has plenty of sibling bridesmaids.
Later, after their successful shopping excursion, everyone reconvened at the local craft store to paint pictures for Jinger and Jeremy.
Wild and crazy times in Tontitown.
Turns out Jessa’s not much of a painter, so she used taking care of Izzy and Spurge as an excuse – and a cute one – to get out of painting.
Jessa noted that it was “good preparation” to watch the two little ones at once since soon she was going to have two kids of her own.

Kim Kardashian: I Hated My Met Ball Gown!!!
First world problems, amiright?
Despite being named Vogue’s best-dressed couple at the 2016 Costume Institute Gala, Kim Kardashian is not pleased with how she looked.
“Kim said she felt like she was going to fail big time,” a source told Radar Online before the gala, adding that she “was so furious” that Kanye West pressured her to wear a silver gown by their friend, Olivier Rousteing at Balmain.
Kardashian put on a good face for the cameras, and told E! why she went with the robotic look.
“I felt everyone was gonna go with [silver],” she explained.
“I still really wanted to do it. I thought Balmain was the perfect choice for me and Kanye especially.”
The real story is far different from what Kardashian told the press.
“She seems so sick of wearing Balmain and she is definitely sick of Kanye calling the shots for practically every single thing she does,” another source told Radar.
A few months before the year’s most anticipated gala – which draws high-profile guests including billionaire moguls, fashion designers, royalty and celebrities – Kardashian wanted to take control of her ensemble.
“Kim doesn’t want to do anything risky,” a source told Radar at the time.
“She wants to wear something classic and elegant. Nothing like that floral print dress Kanye persuaded her to wear in 2013.”
2016’s theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, which explored the contrast between handmade couture and machine-made fashion.
“Kanye thinks he can totally push the envelope and have Kim in something very avant garde and unique,” the source claimed.
“The theme plays to Kanye’s strengths as a fashion designer, and it’s very frustrating that Kim isn’t falling in line.”
Imagine a couple citing “Met Gala Sartorial Differences” as their reason for divorce?
“Kanye is very vocal about Kim’s fashion choices and is hyper-critical when he doesn’t agree with how she is presenting herself,” the source added.
“They are fighting non-stop over this, and it has just gotten ridiculous.”
Well, things may have turned around for the Wests, because Vogue named them last night’s Best Dressed Couple.
“Thank you Vogue for making us the best dressed couple!!!” Kardashian wrote on Instagram.
“THANK YOU @balmain & @olivier_rousteing for bringing us & making us the sickest looks! We love you #RobotVibes”

Sort of.

… and decides to try a gown on for herself.
"Jesus Christ!" Caitlyn screams when she sports herself in the mirror for the first time. "Oh my God, what do you think?"
Her pals absolutely love it, with Ella Giselle even dubbing the look as "flippin stunning," which is an adjective we definitely need to use more often.
Candis Cayne also thinks Jenner "looks great" in the white ensemble.
"I"ve been in three weddings," Caitlyn says in the following sneak peek. "OK with the most boring clothes on in life, OK? Finally I get to wear something comfortable."
Those who watch I Am Cait online or on their television sets this Sunday night at 9/8c will also see Kris Jenner actually pay her ex-husband a visit.
Will they be able to work through their differences? Will they be able to clear the air and end the episode on solid terms?
And who would have ever guessed that Caitlyn Jenner would look so good in a wedding dress?!?
