2018 AMAs Stirring Tribute To Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin was honored at the 2018 American Music Awards with a star-studded performance of the Queen of Soul’s timeless gospel classics … with Gladys Knight leading the way.

Gladys, a friend of the late singer, started the tribute with a beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace” … bringing the audience to its feet one last time at the end of the 3-hour award show.

Gladys introduced Donnie McClurkin, and he energized the room by singing “Climbing Higher Mountains.”

A gospel choir came onstage for CeCe Winans‘ performance of “Mary Don’t You Weep” … and people were dancing in the aisles by the time Ledisi launched into “How I Got Over.”

The memorial performance ended with gospel duo Mary Mary singing a traditional gospel, “Old Landmark.”

Aretha died August 16 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 76.

Austin Forsyth and Joy-Anna Duggar: Stirring Up Controversy by Promoting a Men"s Only Camping Retreat!

Austin Forsyth and Joy-Anna Duggar recently celebrated their one year anniversary. Not their wedding anniversary — they got married in May — but of when they became an item.

Even such a short ways into their relationship, it seems that Austin and Joy-Anna don’t mind spending some time apart. And the context for that is bound to be controversial.

You know how fans have been asking the extended Duggar family to try to keep a lid on their politics? Well … those fans should brace themselves for disappointment.

Austin Forsyth is 23 and Joy-Anna Duggar is 19.

These two are one of the younger Duggar pairs, but they’re clearly making up for lost time.

Following a lifelong friendship, their courtship began with Austin sending Joy-Anna flowers.

The couple got to graduate from side-hugs last May, when they finally got married.

And Joy-Anna is already pregnant.

They got married pretty quickly, even by Duggar standards.

In fact, the size of Joy-Anna’s baby bump is fueling rumors that this wedding might have been rushed after some hypothetical rule-breaking led to a premarital pregnancy.

You know, making it one of those “shotgun weddings.”

Even if that’s true, we doubt that the Duggars would ever let it be publicly confirmed that Joy-Anna got pregnant out of wedlock, if that’s what really happened.

Jim Bob is, in his own twisted way, very concerned with the family’s public image.

Even with the questions lingering of whether or not they had some “secret front hugs” of the pregnancy-inducing kind before getting married …

(A thing scandalous only in the world of the Duggars, where Joy-Anna effectively remained Jim Bob’s property until getting married)

… These two have seemed to go out of their way to show that their politics are heavily on the conservative side.

That’s not a surprise, exactly, considering that they’re Duggars.

But even in a family where Joy-Anna’s brother-in-law, Derick Dillard, keeps condemning trans teenager Jazz Jennings, it seems like Austin and Joy-Anna are racing to prove that they’re the most staunchly conservative in the bunch.

(Maybe it’s sincere, maybe they’re trying to compensate for a premarital indiscretion … we just don’t know)

Fans have implored the couple to keep that to themselves. A lot of people who don’t agree with the Duggars watch to keep up with … well, with the Duggar girls, mostly.

But it seems like Austin and Joy-Anna just can’t help themselves.

On the couple’s shared Instagram account (don’t get us started on shared social media accounts between spouses; it’s weird), they posted a promotion for the conservative and controversial Fort Rock Family Camp.

“Fort Rock Family Camp hasits last Family Camp for the season coming up on October 6-8, 2017. Check out our website at fortrock.org @fortrockfamilycamp”

Just a few weeks after the end of their honeymoon, at a time when most newlyweds are still in, well, the honeymoon phase and cannot bear to be apart …

(This is usually even more the case for couples who have abstained from sex before marriage)

… Austin attended an all-male retreat at Fort Rock Family Camp.

Along with Jim Bob Duggar and Austin’s new brothers-in-law, Austin seemed to embrace a lot of culturally conservative traditionally masculine activities.

Disturbingly, the motif of the retreat was “Battle Ready.” The all-male guests threw hatchets and fired rifles and shotguns.

Sort of strange for a retreat that’s supposed to encourage men to become spiritual leaders to feature so many weapons and to focus so much upon violence — even if no one was getting hurt.

And then there’s the weird gender segregation involved.

Fans noted in the comments that women might have enjoyed some of those activities, too.

“Bet the girls would love [things] like that too,” one fan commented. “Hope they boys had a precious bonding together.”

Though Austin and Joy-Anna are featured on the Fort Rock Family Camp website, it’s always possible that this isn’t exactly Austin’s idea of a good time.

After all, Austin has only just married into the Duggar family. Maybe he’s just going the extra mile to bond with his in-laws.

Still, a lot of fans of Counting On continue to find the Duggar family gender roles to be unsettling.

Many enjoy seeing the girls break free of those restrictions as they get married.

Jenelle Evans: Stirring Up Trouble On Twitter AGAIN

Jenelle Evans knows how to get attention, and that’s exactly what she’s doing ahead of Teen Mom OG‘s season premiere on August 22nd.

In between searching for her MTV Video Music Awards look, Evans summed up her relationship with mom, Barbara in a photo, and retweeted a mushy declaration of love in honor of her boyfriend, David Eason.

“It’s beautiful seeing a guy love his girl and showing her that he appreciates her, just them being happy is amazing,” the tweet reads.

As for Babs, a photo of Kylie Jenner looking blankly at her mom, Kris was all Evans needed.

“me when my mom tells people my business.”

Earlier this week, Evans tweeted about getting to be a stay-at-home-mom.

“I’m so grateful to be able to spend so much time with my son. Being a stay-at-home mom is the best job ever,” she wrote.

Fans accused Evans of being out of touch and having zero self-awareness.

“not everyone is luck [sic] enough to stay at home and have the lifestyle you have, worked all my life bringing up my 2 kids alone,” one follower responded.

To which Evans responded, “you don’t have to live like me to be a stay-at-home mom. Some are self-employed.”

For as much as she’s ever-present on social media, Evans has – for the most part – remained silent on a big rumor that she’s pregnant with Eason’s baby.

Back in May, Evans attempted to put rumors to rest.

“For everyone asking.. No I’m not pregnant and no not engaged,” she tweeted. “Happy where I am in life and comfortable so I’ve been eating a lot more lol.”

Yet, sources close to Evans claim she’s definitely with child.

Back in July, Evans and Eason were involved in a car accident, and the police report stated that Evans was 10 weeks along.

An incriminating text between Evans and her older brother, Colin was leaked on Twitter.

“LOL…That’s crazy…but why lie though? I know you told me 5 months but 10 weeks is just laughable. I feel sorry for the baby will have Jenelle as her mother,” Colin wrote.

It’s entirely possibly that Evans is saving the news because it’s a major storyline this season on Teen Mom OG.

Caitlyn Jenner Honored as Glamour Woman of the Year, Gives Stirring Speech

Caitlyn Jenner was among the influential females honored on Monday night at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

The reality star – who came out as transgender in an April interview with Diane Sawyer prior to introducing herself as Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair a few weeks later – was hailed at the event as “The Trans Champion.”

She then moved the audience to tears, cheers and laughter during her stirring acceptance speech at New York’s Carnegie Hall.

“There was a French activist and writer, Simone de Beauvoir, who said, ‘You are not born woman. You become one’ … Words I live by,” she joked at the outset of her speech.

Back in July, Caitlyn Jenner also won an ESPY for courage, bringing the crowd to its feet at the time with her inspirational message.

“I am so blessed I have family, Caitlyn added. “And not one of them has abandoned me; they’ve all been support of me. It’s incredible.”

Jenner said these words in a video collage before taking the stage, as Kylie Jenner said in the audience as a show of support for her father.

“Of all the things I’ve done in my life, Caity is why God put me on this earth: to tell my story; to be honest with myself about who I am,” Jenner said.

“And in doing that, making a difference in the world. And I’m very happy to be living on the other side.”

Caitlyn also noted that she finally for her driver’s license last week, with the picture and gender marker reading “F.”

She talked openly about conversations she had with her pastor about her “issues,” and explained how she sat with each of her 10 children to discuss what was going on.

“Because for so many years, I lost my enthusiasm for life,” Caitlyn said. “Literally, sitting in my house for almost six years. Because I never really wanted to come out – just to go to work, that was about it.

“Now, actually, I like going out. And I like being myself.

“And in doing that, it’s been an amazing the opportunity we have for change, for people to understand this issue because it’s so difficult.”

The real question now remains this: Will Caitlyn Jenner end up with the ultimate honor, THG Celebrity of the Year?

Tune in next month to find out!
