Jeffrey Tambor Quits Transparent Amidst Sexual Harassment Scandal

Jeffrey Tambor has dropped out of Transparent.

The Emmy Award-winning actor, who has been accused of sexual harassment by two women who worked on the Amazon series, released a statement along with his resignation that was anything, but…well…

… resigned.

Quite the opposite, in fact, as Tambor did not admit to any wrongdoing, while lashing out at the toxic environment that he says has engulfed the critically-acclaimed program.

Transparent recently wrapped up its fourth season.

“Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life,” Tambor said in his statement.

He added:

“What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago.

“I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue.

“Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.”

Among other allegations, Tambor has been accused by a transgender co-star of making lewd, sexually suggestive remarks.

This same co-star says the actor even pressed up against her in a sexual, suggestive manner.

A former assistant has also made troubling claims against the veteran star.

In a previous statement, Tambor said the following:

“I know I haven’t always been the easiest person to work with. I can be volatile and ill-tempered, and too often I express my opinions harshly and without tact.

“But I have never been a predator — ever.”

In the wake of these disturbing allegations, Amazon announced it was investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, numerous individuals and groups – including Transparent writer-producer Our Lady J and GLAAD – have called for the show to continue without Tambor.

Neither creator Jill Solloway nor Amazon has commented since Tambor announced he is leaving the show.

The veteran actor has won a pair of Emmys for his portrayal of Maura, while he also brought two other iconic television characters to life:

1. Hank Kingsley on The Larry Sanders Show.

2. George Bluth on Arrested Development.

Transparent now becomes the second award-winning series to face an uncertain future in the wake of its lead star being accused of sexual harassment or misconduct.

After Kevin Spacey faced on specific claim of attempted sexual assault, along with multiple allegations of creating uncomfortable working conditions on House of Cards, Netflix let the actor go.

It’s unclear just how or when the show will continue.

And the same can be said of Transparent.

Caitlyn Jenner Books Role on Transparent Season 3

As previously reported, I Am Cait may be facing cancelation.

But just because Caitlyn Jenner may soon be gone from E!, this doesn’t mean she won’t appear on television again in the near future.

The 66-year old will appear on at least one episode of Transparent Season 3, series creator Jill Soloway announced at the 2016 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles over the weekend

Details on Jenner’s character are unknown at this time.

But this role will mark the Olympian’s first scripted acting role in two years.

In the 1980s, she appeared on episodes of hit programs such as The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, The Fall Guy and CHiPs.

Those who watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians online, of course, would also argue that Jenner was reading lines from a script on that show, as well.

Transparent is an Amazon original series.

It tells the moving story on a transgender woman – played by Jeffrey Tambor – and her relationships with her family and friends, including new ones she has made from the LGBT community.

Producer Zackary Drucker has actually appeared on I Am Cait.

Transparent, which you can watch online by clicking on the following poster, has won five Emmy Awards, including Best Actor for Tambor.

On Saturday, it received a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

At the ceremony, which airs on Logo TV Monday at 10/9c, Caitlyn shared a photo on her Instagram account a photo of her hugging Transparent actress Judith Light, who plays Tambor’s ex-wife on the series.

Transparent Creator Stands Up for Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner has come under a heavy dose of fire recently.

And it all stems from Glamour honoring the transgender star with a Glamour Woman of the Year Award a few weeks ago.

First, the husband of a 9/11 hero who was honored with this same award many years ago says he will give back his wife"s posthumous trophy because he doesn"t think Jenner is deserving.

Second, Rose McGown took issue with Caitlyn joking how the hardest part about now being a woman is "figuring out what to wear."

But Jenner now has someone well known in her corner.

"It"s sad," Transparent creator Soloway told The Huffington Post in response to this criticism, specifically the aforementioned husband"s point of view.

"There"s this feeling of the binary – this kind of either/or – that a lot of people get really attached to, and a lot of people are powered by anger and looking for a reason to be angry.

"And if he"s wanting the kind of attention around giving [his] wife"s award back, it sounds like he"s probably just really wanting to express anger to the world."

Overall, Soloway has the following to offer regarding Caitlyn Jenner and other members of this community:

"Some trans women are really femme, some trans women are really butch. Everybody"s different, and Caitlyn happens to be from a family – I"m a huge Kardashians fan – everybody in that family talks about hair and makeup and clothes all the time.

"It"s their hobby to look good, so that"s where Caitlyn comes from.

"Whether or not she has a right to do that – of course she has a right to do that. She"s a woman. Every woman has a right to be as femme or as not femme as they wish to be.

"And it"s absolutely awesome that Glamour has honored her."
