Michael Avenatti Proclaims Innocence After Domestic Violence Arrest
Michael Avenatti has gone from defending clients to having to defend himself.
Against a very serious charge.
The lawyer – who rose to fame for representing porn star Stormy Daniels in her legal battle against Donald Trump, and who is allegedly running for President in 2020 – was arrested on Wednesday for felony domestic violence.
According to law enforcement insiders who talked to TMZ, Avenatti was taken into custody after a woman filed a police report that claimed the attorney was responsible for her injuries.
These injuries included a “swollen and bruised” face with “red marks” on both cheeks, the website writes.
Also according to TMZ:
The alleged incident took place on Tuesday night, but there was another confrontation Wednesday between the Avenatti and this unnamed woman at a apartment building in the Century City area of Los Angeles.
“I can’t believe you did this to me. I’m going to get a restraining order against you,” the woman reportedly said to Avenatti on the sidewalk.
Security guards then escorted the alleged victim into the building, only for Avenatti to follow closely behind and claims “she hit me first,” adding “this is bullsh-t.”
The woman in the case had visible injuries, according to Officer Tony Im, a police spokesman.
After speaking to cops who showed up on the scene, Avenatti was placed under arrest.
It’s unclear at this time just what sort of relationship Avenatti had with the woman.
Hours after being taken into custody on the same block where he lives in a skyscraper apartment, Avenatti posted $ 50,000 bail.
He then held an impromptu press conference and strongly denied wrongdoing as he left the Los Angeles Police Department.
“I have never struck a woman. I will never strike a woman,” he told reporters, adding that he is and would continue to be an “advocate” for women’s rights.
He also called the allegation against him “completely bogus” in a statement through his law office and said the following:
“I wish to thank the hard working men and women of the LAPD for their professionalism, they were only doing their jobs in light of the completely bogus allegations against me.
“I have never been physically abusive in my life nor was I last night.
“Any accusations to the contrary are fabricated and meant to do harm to my reputation. I look forward to being fully exonerated.”
We’ve been told the alleged victim was NOT Avenatti’s ex-wife, Christine Avenatti-Carlin, who also issued a statement of support through her former husband’s law office.
She says Avenatti is a “good man” who “has never been abusive to me or anyone else.”
As noted above, Avenatti is the lawyer for Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford – and who has said she had an affair with President Trump in 2006.
She has sued to invalidate the Commander-in-Chief’s confidentiality agreement she signed days before the 2016 presidential election that prevents her discussing this fling.
And Avenatti has often spoken on her behalf, via social media and/or television appearances, taunting the President and threatening to expose other illicit behavior.
After news of Avenatti’s arrest broke Wednesday afternoon, the LAPD Tweeted:
“We can confirm that today LAPD Detectives arrested Michael Avenatti on suspicion of domestic violence.
“This is an ongoing investigation and we will provide more details as they become available.”

Kathryn Dennis: I"m a Domestic Violence Survivor. This is My Story.
Over the past several weeks, each time we’ve written about Kathryn Dennis, it’s been in relation to Thomas Ravenel.
That’s what happens when you share two kids with the lead of a Bravo reality show…
… and then that lead gets accused of sexual assault by two women.
In this case, however, we’re here to talk about the Southern Charm star and a different man from her past.
We don’t know his name.
But we do know that this individual sadly has had a major impact on Dennis’ life.
On Sunday evening, the 27-year old posted both the following image on Instagram and included with it a lengthy message about how she is a surivor of domestic abuse.
Dennis proceeded to tell her story via this social media platform, prefacing the emotional post with a caption that reads:
“This is my past, perfectly put…. worth the read. This is the real aftermath.”
The reality star then went into painful detail as follows:
I spend a lot of time thinking about those questions. I never saw myself in these situations and neither did anyone else. I had strong opinions, a sharp mind, and an independent spirit.
But before I knew it, I was left with a broken spirit, mixed opinions, and an anxious and uncertain mind. I didn’t know who I was anymore.
Dennis never names her abuser.
She doesn’t get into specifics about the incident or incidents, either.
Instead, she focuses more on the effects this experience has had on her life — and continues to have on her life.
It was the deepest, darkest secret I kept.
And this wasn’t about any particular situation/relationship as much as it was my relationship with men. It ran deep and dark, and I never realized the impact it had on myself and on my self-worth.
In these depths of despair, I couldn’t see a way out of this cycle. It seemed anywhere I turned pushed me further and further away from getting to a safe place physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I looked around and within and realized that my self-worth had been damaged long before I even realized it was possible. This made me really question myself.
And this is how Dennis concludes:
Was it me? Was this normal behavior, and I was the one in the wrong?
I knew deep down inside that wasn’t the case, but I was stuck in quicksand being guided by those who kept my head above, but my feet locked in.
Powerful stuff, no?
Tragically, there are millions of women out there who can relate to most everything Dennis describes here.
She went on to share a handful of memes, such as the ones below:
Kathryn’s revelation about her past trauma with domestic violence comes just weeks after her ex-boyfriend, Ravenel, was arrested for second degree assault and battery.
The ex-Bravo personality was taken into custody on charges related to sexual assault claims made by his former nanny, Dawn, who cared for his and Kathryn’s two kids, Kensington, 4, and Saint Julien, 2, years ago.
Ugly stuff all around.
Very unfortunately for Dennis, it sounds like she may have more challenging times ahead as a result.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the 28-year-old former Bachelor suitor and Bachelor in Paradise contestant was taken into custody around 3:15 a.m. due to an alleged altercation between her and her boyfriend, Bobby Jacobs.
Insiders tell TMZ that Stanton was drinking late into the night as part of a co-ed bachelorette party.
The gathering, which included Jacobs, ended up in a hotel room after the group had been out and about for hours beforehand.
Law enforcement tell the aforementioned celebrity gossip website that security arrived at the room at one point in response to a noise complaint.
Jacobs was reportedly talking to a guard when Stanton (who was far from sober) attempted to intervene and shoved her boyfriend in the process.
This is why the security guard called the police.
Stanton was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and was released later on Monday.
Sources say, however, that she and Jacobs are still together and on perfectly fine terms.
They both think someone slipped something into Amanda’s drink, which prompted her to act in this unusually violent manner.
Stanton has not yet commented on what transpired, but she did share photos on Instagram over the weekend from the Vegas adventure, writing at one point:
“All 3 of us have had Bachelorette parties but only one of us is actually getting married… #pregamingpavlis.”
The veteran ABC personality – who appeared on season 20 of The Bachelor and seasons 3 and 4 of Bachelor in Paradise – was in Sin City for a bachelorette party with friends, including fellow Bachelor contestant Lauren Bushnell.
The mother of two actually agreed to marry Josh Murray at one point, only for that romance to end in December of 2016.
She also briefly dated Bachelor in Paradise Season 4 star Robby Hayes, and was mentioned on the program just last night after Hayes made a surprise appearance on Season 5.
Almost immediately, a male contestant warned the women on the island that Hayes had supposedly cheated in Stanton, an allegation he has denied.
As an actress, Stanton has appeared in The Cheetah Girls 2 and Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh.
As a love interest of Jacobs, she started dating her current beau after he slid into her direct messages, saying the following to Us Weekly two months ago:
“We don’t really have a great story.
“I wish we had a more exciting story. We were saying that we should just say we met at the dog park or something…
“I guess it’s pretty normal these days. It just is funny to say.”

Marie Avgeropoulos, Star of The 100, Arrested for Domestic Violence
Marie Avgeropoulos has a last name that is difficult to pronounce.
But it’s easy to see the sort of trouble she may now be in.
The actress, who has been a regular on The CW’s The 100 since its premiere in 2014, was arrested in Los Angeles last week and charged with domestic violence against her boyfriend.
According to TMZ, who broke this news, a man called the police early on the morning of August 5 and claimed that he had been struck by his girlfriend during a verbal dispute.
The the cops arrived on the scene, the man had marks on his body and Avgeropoulos was taken into custody.
As you can see in the mug shot above, it appears as though Avgeropoulos reacted in tears to the incident.
She reportedly urged the police not to take her away once it became evident that an arrest was likely imminent.
An insider also told TMZ that Avgeropoulos was on a new medication and mixed it with wine at dinner prior to the couple’s alleged altercation.
This mixture “resulted in a bad reaction.”
This same boyfriend had called the police in the hopes that officers would “diffuse the situation rather than arrest her,” TMZ reports, revealing he also “begged cops not to take her away” and “even bailed her out.”
That may be true, of course.
But it may also still be true that Avgeropoulos broke the law.
The 32-year-old Canadian actress has yet to address the alleged incident via her social media accounts.
She did not attend the 2018 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, where The 100 was nominated for Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show.
Avgeropoulos was released on $ 50,000 bond.
The 100 chronicles the surviving population living on a space station, called the ARK, which sends a group of 100 delinquents down to earth.
These individuals set out to see if earth might still be inhabitable because supplies are running low on the ARK.
Avgeropoulos has also appeared on such other television programs as Cult, Human Target, Fringe, Supernatural and Eureka.
