Blake Shelton To Universal Records: Stop Ruining Winners of The Voice!

Blake Shelton is not about to let the latest winner of The Voice become a casualty of mismanagement from Universal Records.

Blake mentored Sundance Head throughout the competition and played a huge part in why his act managed to win the crown.

Sundance Head was already a contestant on American Idol Season 6, so Blake no doubt wants to make sure he does not slip into oblivion again.

Speaking to reporters after Tuesday’s season finale, Blake had much to say on the matter

“I want to say one more thing here, because it’s important. I want to personally issue a challenge to Universal Records. This is Season 11 of ‘The Voice,’ and I’m sitting here right now next to a guy who has won over America’s hearts,” Blake said.

“He’s so popular. He has proven that he sells tons of music… I hope that we can all come together — meaning us and Universal Records-[because] this is the guy that I think can break the mold and become a star out of this show.”

There’s no denying that Universal Records has a terrible track record of making any of the winners of the show have much in the way of longevity.

It sucks because people expect to have their career carved out for them after winning the show, but few of the winners have actually released an album.

“I give my word that I’ll put my work in, and I know [Sundance] will,” Blake said.

“This guy deserves to be a star, and there’s no excuses anymore. We need to make the record and put the work behind it that he deserves, to have this success that he deserves. And that has to start with Universal Records getting involved and behind him.”

“We do so much great s**t for these singers, and then they go to a record label that I won’t mention. But they go to a record label that f**ks it up,” he said.

There’s nothing like telling it how it is. Right?

Universal Records have yet to respond to Blake’s comments, but they certainly won’t be happy about them.

How would you feel if someone was trashing your record label?

Maybe this will be the thing that leads to Blake parting ways with the show.

There has been rumblings that he and Adam Levine are close to being finished with the show.

Maybe they’re just sick of nurturing these artists to just disappear.

It’s a tiring process enough without watching people lose their chances.

Either way, we’ll need to stay tuned to find out whether Sundance Head goes the way of the flip phone.

Sound off below with your thoughts on the matter.

MTV Video Music Awards 2016: List of Winners!

The 2016 MTV VMAs (or Video Music Awards, to use the official name) were handed out on Sunday night for the 32nd straight year.

As in each of the last 31 years, the VMAs – which ironically have long outlived the music videos that put MTV on the map – didn’t disappoint.

Between epic live performances, celebrities’ insane getups and more viral moments than we can count, the VMAs always live up to their billing.

That’s what it’s all about, right? A feast for the senses. A tribute to all things pop culture. Unabashed, over-the-top entertainment at its finest.

The big questions this year, other than why Taylor Swift bailed, were whether anyone could stop Beyonce, and how Britney would do.

After The Debacle of 2007, we’ve had a long time to think about when she last graced the VMA stage. Also, did Rihanna bring the house down?

Check back with THG early and often as we break all that down for you. For now, check out the list of winners from the 2016 MTV VMAs …

2016 Spring TV Awards: And the Winners Are...

Some shows went out on top this week.

Others shows went out like Kim Kardashian in the Kim Kardashian sex tape; that is, on the bottom.

With the spring television season now behind us, it"s time to take a look back at the best and the worst from the past few months on the small screen…

1. Worst Cliffhanger

Worst cliffhanger

EMPIRE. Promos teased that a “Lyon would fall.” This ended up being literally the case, with two members of the family falling off a building, with viewers needing to wait until next season to learn who died. Lame! Empire is a strong enough show that it need not rely on such a transparent cliffhanger.

2. Best Plot Twist

Best plot twist

SUPERNATURAL. The Darkness is God’s sister?!? What? Huh?!? It’s creativity such as this that has kept the show humming for 11 seasons and counting.

3. Worst Plot Twist

Worst plot twist

CASTLE. The reveal of LokSat was not worth the wait. Not by a long shot. It didn’t help when Caleb Brown magically appeared in the loft to shoot Kate and Rick.

4. Best ‘Ship

Best ship

Jason and Alicia, THE GOOD WIFE. The series finale was awful, let’s be honest. But the chemistry between these two was red hot all season long.

5. Biggest WTF Moment

Biggest wtf moment

JANE THE VIRGIN. We know this is akin to a telenova and we should not take it too seriously. But we did NOT see Petra’s twin sister coming. At. All.

6. Best Fight Scene

Best fight scene

THE 100. We’re still on the edges of our seats over Lexa taking on Roan.

CMT Music Awards 2016: List of Winners!

The winners are in for the 2016 CMT Music Awards, and one popular country star in particular made history on this Wednesday night.

Nominated three times, Carrie Underwood won trophies for Performance of the Year and Female Video of the Year for “Smoke Break.”

Underwood lost Video of the Year to Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind,” but still holds the record for most Video of the Year wins with six.

Carrie also now has 16 trophies, more than any other artist in CMT Awards history since the show debuted in the summer of 2005.

“I want to thank you guys for coming out and supporting country music on tour,” Underwood said, accepting Performance of the Year.

“God bless you guys. We’ve spent the first part of the year on the road and it’s just been so wonderful to see so many people come out.”

“I know I speak for everybody out there – all of us artists who say you guys are the reason that we get to do what we get to do.”

Other big winners of the night included Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town and Blake Shelton, the CMT Social Superstar.

Seriously, that is a real award voted on by fans.

“CMT’s Social Superstar – that’s not what I was going for, but what the hell!” the 39-year-old Voice coach said of the honor.

“I have a few drinks and get on Twitter once in a while,” Shelton added. “I didn’t know you could get paid for that, but damn!”

Here’s the list of winners from the 2016 CMT Awards:

Video of the Year: Tim McGraw, “Humble and Kind”

CMT Social Superstar: Blake Shelton

CMT Performance of the Year: Carrie Underwood “Smoke Break”

Male Video of the Year: Thomas Rhett, “Die a Happy Man”

Group/Duo Video of the Year: Little Big Town, “Girl Crush”

American Country Countdown Awards 2016: List of Winners!

Luke Bryan was named Artist of the Year and Chris Stapleton won Album of the Year at Sunday’s American Country Countdown Awards.

Meanwhile, Brooks & Dunn reunited outside of their Vegas show to accept the Nash Icon award and perform their smash “Red Dirt Road.”

Ronnie Dunn’s response? “So here’s how it goes.”

“I wake up in a parking lot tomorrow in a brown, whiskey haze at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas with this Icon award sitting next to me.”

“I go, ‘You ain’t no icon. You ain’t no Johnny Cash.”

“You ain’t no Merle Haggard. You ain’t no George Jones. You got a lot long way to go skinny boy with a record deal.’ I’m proud of this, thank you!”

Speaking of the late Merle Haggard, Toby Keith, along with Haggard’s band the Strangers, and Haggard’s youngest son Ben, performed.

Keith sang a montage of Haggard hits including, “Mama Tried,” “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink” and “Fightin’ Side of Me.”

The gorgeous Carrie Underwood (above) showed off her moves – and vocal chops, as always – with a live rendition of “Church Bells.”

Usually high-energy Florida Georgia Line took it down a couple of notches for a performance of “H.O.L.Y.” as their wives looked on adoringly.

Jennifer Nettles, Cam and Martina McBride performed the latter’s 2003 hit “This One’s for the Girls” in an awesome shout-out to women.

A good time was had by all, to state the obvious. Here’s the full list of winners from the American Country Countdown Awards 2016:

American Idol: 5 WGWG Winners Pay to Tribute David Bowie!

Phillip Phillips, Lee DeWyze, David Cook, Kris Allen and Nick Fradiani paid tribute to David Bowie during the American Idol finale.

Why were these five winners chosen to perform together?

They all fall under the “white guy with guitar” – also known as “WGWG” – designation, dudes who look and sound roughly the same and had a stranglehold over the show"s fan base pretty much the whole time.

Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe told The Hollywood Reporter:

“I promise you, if they went out on tour, and each did 20 minutes in their own right and 20 minutes together, this is a sell-out tour, they’re so good together. The WGWG tour.”

They did sound pretty good …

Academy of Country Music Awards 2016: List of Winners!

Jason Aldean may have won the single most prestigious honor, but Chris Stapleton was the biggest winner on country music’s big stage.

Stapleton, the genre’s Cinderella story of the decade, took home four trophies from the 51st annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

That would be double the amount won by anyone else if you’re keeping score, and continues an impressive win streak for the “Traveler.”

The hirsute singer-songwriter had previously nabbed three CMA and two Grammys, proving that this very, very far from a fluke.

Miranda Lambert was one of the ACMs’ double victors Sunday, winning Female Vocalist of the Year (for the seventh straight year).

She also won Vocal Event of the Year for her “Smokin’ and Drinkin"” collaboration with Vocal Group of the Year winners Little Big Town.

Jason Aldean was named Entertainer of the Year, considered the top honor at the event. See the list of ACM Awards winners below!

Entertainer of the Year: Jason Aldean

Academy Awards 2016: List of Winners!

The 88th Annual Academy Awards are in the books, as all of Hollywood gathered to celebrate the best movies and talent of the year.

And laugh at some Chris Rock monologue jokes that went after #OscarsSoWhite with no holds barred or punches pulled. At all.

And admire the feast for the eyes that was the Oscars red carpet fashion frenzy, which could produce an awards ceremony in itself.

But there were movies, writers, actresses and actors to be recognized as well. Check out the complete list of nominees and winners!
