Harry Styles: BLASTED for Covering Kanye West Song

Harry Styles is trying to carve out a solo career for himself, similar to the way Zayn Malik did in 2016, but his career has already hit a snag.

That snag comes in the form of Kanye West. Now, we"re not saying they"re friends or anything, but Styles opted to cover the track, "Ultralight Beams."

This event occurred during Harry"s first-ever solo show at London"s Garage Nightclub on Saturday night.

The reason you"re probably scratching your head wondering why this is the first you"re hearing of the show is because it was announced on the same day.

We can just imagine how upset you are that you did not get to attend. Don"t worry. We have you covered with a video of the performance.

Harry"s take on the song sounds surprisingly alright, and while people at the event seemed to be playing along with it, Twitter was not entirely impressed with it.

When one user praised the performance, a user fired back and likened the sound to ear cancer.

"People actually think this is good? I have ear cancer from listening to this."

We get it, some people don"t like one of their favorite songs being covered, but still, it"s hardly a nice way to vent frustration.

Interestingly, even some of Harry"s fans found the surprising number to be a little bit dull.

"I love harry, but i"m not feeling this cover. White people really don"t need to make indie/rock covers of songs by rap artists."

We wonder how Taylor Swift feels about her ex-boyfriend singing a song that was made by her enemy, Kanye West.

Yes, we"re still not over that feud.

Harry shocked the internet and released his self-titled debut album on Friday. Unlike his performance of "Ultralight Bean," it is poised to be a success, with critics taking a shine to it.

Styles rose to fame on the seventh season of The X Factor U.K. after being put in a group when he was eliminated from the show as a solo contestant.

One Direction subsequently became one of the biggest bands on the planet, but the band decided to take a hiatus last year to embark on solo opportunities.

Will they really get back together, or will their solo opportunities keep them apart?

Have a look at the full performance below.

JetBlue Kicks Family Off Flight Due to… Birthday Cake?!?

JetBlue has apparently grown sick and tired of every other airline making news over the past several weeks.

News for the wrong reasons, but still. News nonetheless.

Therefore, in light of United assaulting a customer, Delta showing a patron the door for using the bathroom and Virgin turning away a young cancer patient, JetBlue has gotten into the Awful PR Business for itself.

Here"s how…

On May 3, a family of four was traveling to New Jersey when they allegedly refused to move a birthday cake they brought on board out of the overhead bin.

Cameron Burke, his wife Minta and their two young kids were headed to a surprise party when the patriarch started filming an encounter between himself and police officers who were brought on board to confront him over the issue.

The father told ABC 7 that he moved the dessert item from an overhead bin to under the seat in front of him when asked, but that two flight attendants were still giving him a hard time over it.

"You know, you could see the gestures – then she was pointing to her, did you tell him he couldn’t put anything in the overhead compartment?,” Cameron said.

“I had approached them, and I said everything was fine, and she said, ‘Sir, this does not involve you.’

"When she told me I had been non-compliant, then I said, ‘Ma’am, had you been drinking?’ because her behavior was not normal."

The airline forced all passengers to deplane in light of this incident, with the Burkes told they could not get on the flight and given a refund instead.

According to JetBlue spokesperson Morgan Johnston, however, the Burkes are not victims here.

He says “the video circulating [below] does not depict the entire incident and only starts after the objectionable behavior occurred.”

The company claims Cameron refused numerous requests to take the cake out of an overhead bin which is reserved for safety equipment in case of an emergency.

"The customers became agitated, cursed and yelled at the crew, and made false accusations about a crewmember’s fitness to fly,” JetBlue said, adding:

“After the customers refused to speak with a team leader about the situation, the Port Authority Police Department was called and the entire aircraft deplaned.

"The Captain determined the customers’ behavior demonstrated a risk for additional escalation in air and would not be allowed to fly."

JetBlue noted that cakes are permitted onboard as long as they are within the carry-on size limits.

Minta, though, says she wants at least one of the flight attendants fired and that her children were left “traumatized” by what transpired.

Miss USA 2017: And the Controversial Winner Is...

A new Miss USA has been crowned.

But not without the sort of controversy that often accompanies beauty pageants of this nature.

First, however, the facts from Sunday night:

Kára McCullough earned the honor of Miss USA 2017 by defeating 50 other women from across the country, impressing judges with her beauty, talents and intelligence.

A scientist at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, McCullough held off strong challenges from runner-up Meredith Gould (Miss Minnesota) and Chhavi Verg (Miss New Jersey).

McCullough, meanwhile, represented the District of Columbia.

Dancing With the Stars’ veteran Julianne Hough and Terrence J hosted the competition, which aired live from the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on the Las Vegas Strip and which featured performances from Pitbull and country star Brett Eldredge.

Ashley Graham worked backstage as a co-host, while Halima Aden, Carson Kressley, Brooke Lee, Nancy Lublin, Jeannie Mai and Janet Mock chose the winners.

Now, on to the remarks that turned McCullough into a trending topic on Twitter…

With Congress having recently voted to repeal Obamacare and replace it with a plan that would take away health care from millions of Americans, the contestants were asked for their thoughts on this polarizing political subject.

And the eventual winner McCullough sent some heads shaking on Sunday night when she said affordable health care in America is a “privilege” instead of a “right.

“I’m definitely going to say it’s a privilege,” McCullough explained during the question-and-answer segment, expounding as follows:

“As a government employee, I’m granted health care.

“And I see firsthand that for one, to have health care, you need to have jobs, so therefore we need to continue to cultivate this environment so that we’re given the opportunities to have health care as well as jobs for all Americans worldwide.”

In response to this point of view, Twitter users slammed McCullough, saying they hoped she didn’t take home the crown.

“Miss DC was my fav but … not after that answer,” wrote Twitter user Charlsley Carey. “Everyone has a right to health care.”

Added Kathy Lovett: “Well I guess poor people don’t deserve health care because the new Miss USA said it was a privilege.”

But McCullough did have her defenders, and we’re not just talking about the judges who awarded her the grand prize later in the evening.

“Miss USA is beautiful inside and out,” tweeted Politixgal. “Healthcare IS NOT a right. It costs money & someone has to pay. You shd be paying for your own.”

This, of course, is far from the first time that a beauty pageant contestant created a firestorm with politically-charged comments.

Remember the reaction after Carrie Prejean expressed her stance on gay marriage back in 2009?

Clearly hoping to stir up social media, Miss USA organizers also asked the following question of this year’s contestants:

What do you consider feminism to be, and do you consider yourself a feminist?

Replied McCullough:

“As a woman scientist in the government, I’d like to lately transpose the word feminism to equalism. I don’t really want to consider myself – try not to consider myself like this die-hard, you know, like, ‘Oh, I don’t really care about men.’

“But one thing I’m gonna say, though, is women, we are just as equal as men when it comes to opportunity in the workplace…

“And I say firsthand: I have witnessed the impact that women have in leadership in the medical sciences, as well as just in the office environment.

“So as Miss USA, I would hope to promote that type of leadership responsibility globally to so many women worldwide.”

In a video shared on the Miss USA Twitter account after the competition, McCullough cried backstage as she said she was feeling “extremely overwhelmed with joy,” given that she had just entered the pageant for fun.

She concluded:

“I decided to take life as it comes, and if I could encourage anyone else in the world to do that, please – just take your time.

“Understand the process is so much more important to focus on than just looking toward the outcome.”

Powers Boothe Dies; Veteran Actor Was 68 Years Old

Powers Boothe, a veteran actor of both the big screen and the small screen, died on Sunday in his sleep.

He was 68 years old.

According to publicist Karen Samfilippo, Boothe passed away inside his Los Angeles home from natural causes.

A private service will be held for him this week in his native state of Texas, while his family is contemplating a more public memorial at some point in the future.

Beau Bridges, another long-time star in the industry, Tweeted confirmation of the sad news on Sunday afternoon, writing the following message:

Boothe was mostly known for portraying fictional villains, from saloon owner Cy Tolliver on HBO’s Deadwood to one of his more recent appearances on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

He grew up on a Texas farm and began his acting career on stage, starring in a number of Shakespearean productions, including Henry IV.

After becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college, he made his Broadway debut in the 1970s in Lone Star & Pvt. Wars.

In 1980, Boothe won an Emmy Award for lead actor in a limited series or special for playing cult leader Jim Jones in CBS’ Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.

He took home that trophy during an actors strike and decided to cross the picket line to accept it, saying at the time:

“This may be either the bravest moment of my career or the dumbest.”

Boothe also was nominated two ensemble SAG Awards, first in 1996 alongside the cast of Nixon and then again in 2007 with the cast of Deadwood.

He’s probably best known to current movie goers for having players Senator Roark in the Sin City franchise.

Also in the film universe, he portrayed Alexander Haig in Nixon (1995)… a sheriff in another Oliver Stone movie, U Turn (1997)… and was unforgettable as the evil gunman Curly Bill Brocius in Tombstone (1993).

Boothe played Connie Britton’s father on Nashville and the President of the United States on a season of 24.

“I loved acting with you #PowersBoothe you were a gentlemen and a great actor,” wrote Lea Thompson in response to Boothe’s passing.

His Deadwood co-star, Garret Dillahunt, described the star on Facebook as “a formidable adversary, baseball lover and poser hater,” adding as a tribute:

“Give em hell Powers.”

In 2009, Boothe was inducted in the Texas Film Hall of Fame, along with actor and singer Billy Bob Thornton.

Those who wish to honor the late star can send donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which assists the country’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.

May Powers Boothe rest in peace.
