Frances Bean Cobain Settles with Ex-Husband, He Gets Kurt"s Guitar

Frances Bean Cobain, Courtney Love Pay Tribute on Kurt Cobain"s Birthday

Believe it or not, it’s been 24 years since Kurt Cobain took his own life at the height of his fame.

The iconic Nirvana frontman would have turned 51 today.

Millions of fans and the wife and daughter he left behind took to social media today to pay tribute to one of the most influential musicians in recent decades.

Frances Bean Cobain marked the occasion by posting the above photo of herself and her father.

Sadly, it’s one of very few of them together, as Kurt died when Frances was just 18 months old.

Frances honored her father last year, on what would have been Kurt’s 50th birthday.

She kept the tradition going today with a caption that spoke to her father’s snarky sense of humor:

“I hope they don’t have the internet wherever you are. I feel like that would be counterproductive. Regardless, Happy Birthday to an angel,” she wrote.

Last week, Frances revealed that she’s sober following a several-year battle substance abuse.

As the daughter of two parents who struggled with addiction, the odds were stacked against Frances in terms of falling prey to the disease herself.

So the fact that she was able to not only get clean but to share her story with fans is all the more impressive.

Kurt’s widow, Courtney Love, also paid tribute to the late rock star on social media.

“Happy birthday baby god I miss you,” she captioned the photo below.

The years since her husband’s death have often been tumultuous for Love, and she endured their own well-publicized battles with addiction.

Love has admitted to using heroin while pregnant and has been harshly criticized for some of her public behavior over the years, but against all odds, she seems to have turned things around recently.

She remains a popular cultural figure and has happily assisted in keeping Kurt’s legacy alive for a generation of new music fans.

As another birthday passes for a legend who would likely still have many years of touring and recording ahead of him if he’d only survived his youth, it’s hard not to dwell on what might have been.

But as teens who weren’t yet born when Cobain died continue to sport Nirvana t-shirts, and artists like Post Malone cover songs like “All Apologies” one can only be grateful for the tremendous body of work this troubled soul left behind.

Frances Bean Cobain Opens Up About Battle With Addiction

It’s been 24 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain took his own life at the height of his fame.

While the exact causes of Cobain’s self-destructive mental state remain a mystery, the singer’s long struggle with heroin addiction is believed to have played a role in his downward spiral.

And the battle that claimed her father’s life was no doubt on Frances Bean Cobain’s mind yesterday, as she revealed that she’s celebrating two years of sobriety.

Frances shared the news with her millions of Instagram followers on Tuesday with a moving post about her new lease on life:

“I thought I would start this post by using a pure moment in Oahu amongst nature, with my love. This moment is a representation of who I am on February 13th, 2018,” the 25-year-old wrote.

“It feels significant here, now because it’s my 2nd sober birthday. It’s an interesting and kaleidoscopic decision to share my feelings about something so intimate in a public forum.”

Cobain went on to say that she made a conscioud decision to keep her struggle to herself until now:

“The fact that I’m sober isn’t really public knowledge, decidedly and deliberately. But I think it’s more important to put aside my fear about being judged or misunderstood or typecast as one specific thing.”

Frances says she’s opening up about her struggle now, in hopes that others might find inspiration in her ability to get clean:

“I want to have the capacity to recognize & observe that my journey might be informative, even helpful to other people who are going through something similar or different,” she writes.

The daughter of Courtney Love – who’s own struggles with addiction have been well-documented – adds that she’s realized using substances to escape her problems will always be tempting, but she says she’s found a better path:

“Self destruction and toxic consumption and deliverance from pain is a lot easier to adhere to. Undeniably, for myself and those around me becoming present is the best decision I have ever made.

“How we treat our bodies directly correlates to how we treat our souls. It’s all interconnected. It has to be.”

Frances ends her celebratory post with a message of hope for those who are stuggling:

“As cheesy and cornball as it sounds life does get better, if you want it to,” she writes.

“I’ll never claim I know something other people don’t. I only know what works for me and seeking to escape my life no longer works for me.”

After an ugly divorce from Isaiah Silva, Cobain is dating musician Matthew Cook these days.

She assures fans that she’s never been happier.

We wish her all the best in all her endeavors.

Frances Bean Cobain Remembers Father on His 50th Birthday

For many of those who are old enough to remember a time when music was purchased in brick and mortar stores and MTV played videos, it’s difficult to believe that it’s been nearly 23 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain took his own life.

Though only 27 at the time of his death, Cobain’s influence on the music world was so profound that one seldom hears a conversation about the cultural climate of the ’90s in which his name isn’t mentioned.

Sadly, Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, has few memories of her father, as she was four months shy of her second birthday  when he died.

There’s a tragic irony in the fact that the most potent living reminder of Cobain’s inimitable style, droll humor, and artistic temperament doesn’t remember the man herself, but Frances is clearly acutely aware of the ways in which she’s been influenced by her iconic father.

Today would have been Cobain’s 50th birthday.

The occasion has prompted outpourings of grief and nostalgia from family, friends, and fans, but perhaps no tribute is as moving as the one paid by Frances early this morning.

The 24-year-old posted the following image of a handwritten note to her Instagram page:

Cobain Tribute

“Today would have been your 50th birthday. You are loved and you are missed,” the message reads.

“Thank you for giving me the gift of life. Forever your daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.”

In the past, Frances has spoken with surprising candor about her troubled father’s short life and death.

“The world demanded it of him,” Frances said of her father’s suicide in an interview last year.

“I think that was one of the main triggers as to why he felt he didn’t want to be here and everyone would be happier without him.”

She added:

“In reality, if he had lived,…I would have had a dad. And that would have been an incredible experience.”

Early in life, Frances faced challenges few young people encounter (she was estranged from her mother, Courtney Love), throughout much of her life, she seems to have developed into a surprisingly stable and grounded adult.

She’s mended fences with Love, endured a high-profile divorce with dignity, and built a career for herself as a a visual artist.

Nothing can make up for the absence of a parent in a child’s life, but we hope Frances finds some comfort in knowing how proud she would’ve made her father.

Frances Bean Cobain and Courtney Love: Kurt Cobain Would Be Rolling Over in His Grave!

If Kurt Cobain were still alive and kicking, he’d be thrilled to see his daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and former wife, Courtney Love, playing nice and looking gorgeous.

The two were spotted out together at Seth Rogen’s Hilarity for Charity Event in Los Angeles over the weekend, and it’s really hard to say who looked hotter.

The two were photographed a few weeks ago at a fashion event in Paris, looking just as fierce.

It’s easy to see that whatever bizarre, disturbed fences were broken in the past are, at least for now, mended.

Frances is looking like the female version of her father, while Courtney’s looking … well, perhaps the best she ever has.

While Frances was previously accused of some nasty, hoarder-type habits, they don’t seem to be overflowing into her appearance.

According to a source, FBC is a compulsive shopper and thusly, her house was close to uninhabitable.

“The weird truth is that Frances Cobain’s house is virtually unlivable because of [her] hoarding,” the mole revealed.

“Frances spends her days doing lots and lots of online shopping.”

“Virtually every room is filled with boxes of stuff Frances has ordered from online retailers and never even bothered to open,” the source continued.

Kurt Cobain GIF

Hey, you know, some people are addicted to heroin and pills and alcohol … ol’ Frances Bean Cobain is fairly okay if this is the worst of her troubles.

She’s even looking much healthier – and not nearly as emaciated – than she had in previous years.

FBC hit a red carpet event with her mother in April 2015 where she looked thin, wan, and tired.

What a stunning improvement compared to today’s photos, right?

And speaking of stunning improvements, check out mama.

Love isn’t a stranger to plastic surgery.

She previously had a boob job in the past, and with all of the drugs that she likely put up her nose, there had to be some facial reconstruction done there.

Despite whatever she might’ve done, though, things are working for her lately.

And hey – we can start counting our blessings in 3, 2, 1 … because Courtney apparently stopped with the onslaught of Facebook nudes

For now.

Small steps, y’all. That’s all we can hope for with this one.

Frances Bean Cobain: Ex-Husband Coming After Her Kurt Cash?!

Back in March, Frances Bean Coban got divorced from Isaiah Silva after just six months of marriage.

They issued the usual joint statement about how the split was mutual and amicable.

And to the surprise of absolutely no one, it turned out to be anything but.

In fact, the Cobain-Silva divorce got ugly fast, as Silva made a play for possession of Frances’ dad’s guitar.

Her dad, of course, being noted cardigan enthusiast and frequent Hot Topic t-shirt star Kurt Cobain.

FBC wasn’t having that for obvious reasons.

Silva was ordered to return the guitar, but it seems he’s not through trying to cash in on the fact that he was very briefly married to the daughter of a famous rock star.

TMZ is reporting today that Isaiah is taking the “go hard or go home” approach when it comes to requesting spousal support.

The site claims his lawyers have informed the judge that he’ll accept nothing less than $ 25,000/month.

It’s a lot of cash, but Silva says he can justify the figure.

Apparently, he left a steady job when he married Cobain, who promised to pay for all his expenses, including private school and housing bills for his kid from a previous relationship.

Unfortunately for Isaiah, there’s no prenup.

That could be a double-edged sword, however, as Isaiah says Frances has upwards of $ 100 million in her dad’s estate, and he also wants half of everything she made from business deals and investments during the two years they were together.

Jeez, if two people in their early twenties, one of whom is incredibly wealthy, can’t get divorced without it turning into a whole thing, what hope do the rest of us have?

Sigh. What a world.

But hey, if you’re feeling down, just check out these Frances Bean bikini photos.

They’re officially the only non-depressing pieces of art ever created by a Cobain.

Frances Bean Cobain Posts Bikini Pic, Shows Off Tattoos

Frances Bean Cobain has never shown much interest in entering show business or becoming a social media celebrity (apparently a viable career option for celebrity offspring in 2016), but she’s grown up under a microscope nonetheless.

It’s not hard to see why, of course, as for a generation of music fans, her father is more much more than just a rock star (ironically, a role he says he never wanted to play).

Kurt Cobain’s tragic passing elevated him to the level of icon, martyr of fame, member of the fabled 27 Club and unwitting sacrifice to the rock gods.

Courtney Love, by contrast, has become, over the years, something of a punchline in the music world: a coattail-riding Lady MacBeth, a female Keith Richards haunted by her own Brian Jones.

Whether that reputation is deserved or not is a question for another time.

All of this is to say that short of moving into a convent the day she turned 18, there’s little that Frances could have done to escape the attention of the Gen-Xers who love her father’s music and the Milennials who love her style.

Frances turned 24 yesterday, and despite some recent personal struggles (She divorced Isaiah Silva in March after just six months of marriage.) and a reputation for preferring the indoors (She is the First Daughter of the grunge movement, after all.) it appears that she decided to celebrate with a vacation in Hawaii:

Cobain uploaded the above pic to her Instagram page (with the amazing handle of “space_witch666”) and it instantly racked up a ton of likes (nearly 24,000 so far) and sparked some intense debates over the meaning of her tattoos.

Perhaps as a result of all she’s been through, fans seem to feel protective of FBC.

(Rumors that Silva wanted to keep her father’s guitar after the divorce led to an uproar on social media.)

As a result, her Instagram page is a mostly positive, supportive place.

And thankfully, she seems to have grown into a stable, well-adjusted young woman.

The girl is living proof that you can always make the choice to turn your back on a dark past and face the sun.

Frances Bean Cobain: Divorce Gets Ugly As Ex Fights For Her Dad"s Guitar

When Frances Bean Cobain and Isaiah Silva got married, many who were familiar with the troubled upbringing of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter hoped that she would find the stability she lacked in her younger years.

Sadly, that didn’t turn out to be the case.

Cobain and Silva separated in March, and while it was initially rumored that the split was amicable, it now appears that the divorce proceedings are as messy as Frances’ relationship with her troubled mother.

Sources say the division of property has been a nightmare every step of the way, and now, one priceless artifact has the ex-couple  more at odds than ever before.

According to TMZ, Silva says the guitar that Kurt played during Nrivana’s classic MTV Unplugged performance is rightfully his.

It’s also the last guitar Kurt played before his death, which means it may be the most valuable in his collection, to say nothing of the instrument’s tremendous sentimental value to Frances.

Silva maintains that Frances gave him the guitar as a wedding present and that she has no right to take it back simply because the marriage didn’t work out.

The guitar is a Martin D-18E, and there only about 300 in existence.

Kurt had the bridge and nut replaced on his so that he could play it left-handed.

It was once insured for $ 1 million, and is rumored to be worth several times that.

Not surprisingly, Courtney is siding with her daughter on this one:

In the clip above, Courtney says she gave the guitar to her daughter, which raises the question of whether or not it was hers to re-gift in the first place.

Whatever the case, it seems unlikely that this matter will be resolved anytime in the near future.

Frances Bean Cobain and Isaiah Silva: It"s Over!

In September of last year, Kurt Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, married Isaiah Silva in a ceremony that came as a surprise to everyone, including Frances’ sentient cocaine line of a mother, Courtney Love.

Now, to the surprise of very, very few Frances and Isaiah are calling it quits, and FBC is doing everything she can to keep the Kurt lookalike’s hands off her Nirvana cash.

According to TMZ, Frances is the one who filed for divorce, and her court documents specify that Silva should not even think about making a grab for her father’s estate, estimated at about $ 450 million.

She also indicated, however, that she would be open to paying spousal support.

Frances generally keeps a low profile, but she was all over the tabloids for a few weeks last year, and not just because of her somewhat controversial marriage.

While promoting the new documentary about her father, Montage of Heck, Frances appeared thin and pale at a number of red carpet events, leading to rumors that she was following in her parents’ tragic footsteps.

The 23-year-old also said that she doesn’t like Nirvana and stated the obvious truth that Kurt wasn’t the greatest dad, thus attracting the ire of Internet morons.

We’re sure going through an ugly divorce with Kurt’s doppelganger won’t help her opinion of her dad or his band.

Frances Bean Cobain and Isaiah Silva: Married!!!

Four years after Frances Bean Cobain and Isaiah Silva got engaged, the young couple has finally tied the knot.

E! News is reporting that Frances and Isaiah got married over the weekend in a “small and intimate” (and very secretive) ceremony.

In fact, Frances reportedly kept things so low-key that her infamous mother, Courtney Love, didn’t even know she was getting married.

Probably a good call if there was an open bar.

“Courtney loves Isaiah, but was devastated to learn that Frances had gotten married without her knowing,” a source says. “Courtney really likes Isaiah and is very happy for Frances. Courtney is sad she wasn’t at the wedding.”

Though Courtney and Frances have a famously tumultuous relationship, they appeared to have patched things up recently, and made several public appearances together to promote the Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck earlier this year.

Of course, during the press tour, Frances made some controversial comments that many interpreted as passive-aggressive shots at her troubled parents.

Despite the snub, the insider says Courtney is “cool” with Frances’ decision to get married on the down-low:

“Frances called her after but Courtney understands why she did it,” says the source.

“Frances needs a man in her life and has always craved stability. She’s found it in Isaiah. This has not caused a rift between mom and daughter. Courtney was sad, but she’s cool and Isaiah is a great son-in-law.”

Yes, Courtney Love is reportedly bummed. We’re sure area liquor stores and pharmacies have been put on high alert.

Just kidding, Courtney! Congrats to Frances and Isaiah. Now be sure to study Frances’ parents’ marriage so that you can do the exact opposite!
