Farrah Abraham Remembers Derek Underwood in Heartbreaking Tribute

Look, Farrah Abraham is awful. She’s really, truly just not a great person.

Like, at all.

But under that rough exterior, if you look past her rudeness and her inability to speak to literally anyone with the smallest amount of respect, you’ll see that she’s kind of a broken person.

Sure, she’s still awful, but she’s been through stuff, you know?

She’s hinted at some major trauma she experienced in her childhood, and we’ve seen on Teen Mom OG how bad her mother, Debra Danielsen, can be.

And then there’s the tragic story of her relationship with Derek Underwood.

Derek was Farrah’s high school boyfriend — and he’s also Sophia’s father.

They had a pretty dramatic relationship, as you’d expect with a couple of teenagers (one being Farrah Abraham). As she revealed in her book, her parents hated him.

At one point, her father caught them having sex in her bedroom and she claimed that he chased him out of the house with a knife.

Because of all those shenanigans, her parents wouldn’t allow her to see him, and so when he passed away in a car accident during her pregnancy, she’d never told him that he was going to be a dad.

If you watched the early seasons of Teen Mom, you know she really struggled with losing Derek.

And if you didn’t catch those old episodes, then all you have to do is check out this touching message Farrah wrote to Derek in an Instagram post commemorating the anniversary of his death.

Then you’ll see the heartache.

Along with a photo of his headstone, she wrote “In loving remembrance to Derek Underwood, 12/28/2008 father, son, nephew, cousin, friend, and so much more.”

Derek Underwood Grave

“December 28th comes every year when we review all of our love, great memories, share stories and know how special Derek was and how all the special and highly favored charisma passed on to Sophia.”

(Yes, it doesn’t exactly make sense, but she’s trying, OK?)

“This past year Sophia was bullied for not having a father at her old public school,” she continued. “I thought why would any child not understand that’s out of ones control and no one would ask for that.”

“In a world full of ignorance and wrong doing I’m happy to say my daughter knows her truth and has strength in that beyond the ignorance.”

Farrah also touched on her troubled relationship with MTV, writing “This year I saw an employer long time production and my mother try to use my loss as their gain for heartache and to act as though they cared about my health and supported the struggles of the loss of Derek I go though …”

“But for years they could not let it be at peace as nothing needs to be relived and this year of review has spoken for those who can not live life peacefully with you and support your growth and are not excited for your future and living better, happier, healthier are no longer welcome.”

In a piece of advice for the team behind Teen Mom, she said “Don’t ever manipulate or take advantage of a mother or child as they go through loss & challenges it’s disgustingly evil.”

She also wrote “Thank you Daddy Derek for always watching over us and this year we’re at peace and happy with the loving support of family who live by this and we’re in loving spirits on our Hong Kong trip as Derek would love the heights & the water of Hong Kong island as he did of his rock queries.”

She closed her message “with love” from “Farrah & Sophia for those who want peace, life, love, happiness and a new chapter.”

Again, a lot of this doesn’t really make much sense at all.

But it’s obvious that Farrah really feels some deep, complicated feelings about what happened with Derek, and losing a boyfriend like that at such a young age must have been devastating.

Losing a boyfriend at such a young age while pregnant with his child?

It’s no wonder the girl’s got some issues.

Frances Bean Cobain Remembers Father on His 50th Birthday

For many of those who are old enough to remember a time when music was purchased in brick and mortar stores and MTV played videos, it’s difficult to believe that it’s been nearly 23 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain took his own life.

Though only 27 at the time of his death, Cobain’s influence on the music world was so profound that one seldom hears a conversation about the cultural climate of the ’90s in which his name isn’t mentioned.

Sadly, Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, has few memories of her father, as she was four months shy of her second birthday  when he died.

There’s a tragic irony in the fact that the most potent living reminder of Cobain’s inimitable style, droll humor, and artistic temperament doesn’t remember the man herself, but Frances is clearly acutely aware of the ways in which she’s been influenced by her iconic father.

Today would have been Cobain’s 50th birthday.

The occasion has prompted outpourings of grief and nostalgia from family, friends, and fans, but perhaps no tribute is as moving as the one paid by Frances early this morning.

The 24-year-old posted the following image of a handwritten note to her Instagram page:

Cobain Tribute

“Today would have been your 50th birthday. You are loved and you are missed,” the message reads.

“Thank you for giving me the gift of life. Forever your daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.”

In the past, Frances has spoken with surprising candor about her troubled father’s short life and death.

“The world demanded it of him,” Frances said of her father’s suicide in an interview last year.

“I think that was one of the main triggers as to why he felt he didn’t want to be here and everyone would be happier without him.”

She added:

“In reality, if he had lived,…I would have had a dad. And that would have been an incredible experience.”

Early in life, Frances faced challenges few young people encounter (she was estranged from her mother, Courtney Love), throughout much of her life, she seems to have developed into a surprisingly stable and grounded adult.

She’s mended fences with Love, endured a high-profile divorce with dignity, and built a career for herself as a a visual artist.

Nothing can make up for the absence of a parent in a child’s life, but we hope Frances finds some comfort in knowing how proud she would’ve made her father.

Beyonce Remembers Aaliyah, Posts 2000 VMAs Interview

Beyonce may have won Throwback Thursday, because she shared an incredible MTV Video Music Awards moment on Instagram that many of us may have forgotten about.

The 2000 VMAs clip features a 19-year-old Beyonce – still a member of Destiny"s Child at this point in her career – interviewing a Gucci-clad Aaliyah, who at that time was one of the most popular R&B singers.

"Miss Aaliyah.  How you doin," girl?"

"It"s so good to see you again," Aaliyah told the budding singer.

"What are you looking for to seeing?" Beyonce asked

"I want to see D"Agenelo perform," Aaliyah revealed.

"Girl, I"m with you "cause you KNOW he fine," Beyonce said.

“He’s fine, he’s hot, he’s sexy,” Aaliyah added.

It"s a fantastic interview that shows how much things have changed in the world of celebrity over the past 15 years.  Aaliyah was at the top of her career then, but didn"t look entirely comfortable the red carpet.

Beyonce was green, but eager at that point, since her first solo album wouldn"t drop for another three years.

She was just psyched to part of the VMAs, and it was adorable.

A year later, Aaliyah died in a plane crash after filming a video in the Bahamas in 2001.

A few days after her death, Beyonce spoke about how supportive she was to young singers at the Soul Train Awards.

"She was the very first person to embrace Destiny"s Child. She was so sweet always," Knowles told reporters, according to ABC News.

"This is, it"s just tragic. It"s very sad."

The plane Aaliyah was flying on was operated by an unlicensed pilot who was found to have had traces of drugs and alcohol in his system.

Also possibly contributing to the crash was the amount of production equipment placed on board, which the pilot allegedly argued made the plane too heavy.

Christina Grimmie: Tori Kelly Remembers Late Friend With Moving Song

On June 10th, her life was cut short.

A month later, Christina Grimmie is still mourned by the music industry.

Over the weekend, singer Tory Kelly uploaded "Blink of An Eye," an acoustic song to Youtube dedicated to her friend.

"Can"t help but think who you would be if you just had the chance to turn 23…" Kelly sings.

"It"s 2 a.m., I still don"t believe you"re gone.

"And the world keeps spinning on.

Kelly posted a message below the video, explaining the significance of putting pen to paper in honor of her friend.

"this song was written for christina grimmie after she passed away tragically," Kelly wrote.

"i needed to write this song. thank you to my good friend, zac poor, who was brave enough to take on the challenge of writing it with me.

"my heart was & is still so heavy when i think of her not being with us. however, i am still comforted knowing that i"ll get to see her again someday in heaven. my prayers go out to her family & loved ones.

"even though this song had specific meaning, more recently i"m overwhelmed at the pain & the brokenness in the world today, & so this is really just me grieving. at all of it.

"life is so short. thanks for listening, i love you guys."

Grimmie was shot to death by rabid fan, Kevin James Loilbl after an Orlando concert.  The former Voice contestant was signing autographs when Loibl approached her and opened fired.

Grimmie"s brother Marcus tackled Loibl to the ground after (he then turned the gun on himself).

Grimmie died from gunshot wounds after being rushed to the hospital.

Last week, Marcus and his parents thanked the public for their outpouring of support in the wake of Grimmie"s death.

"As we have always known, Christina"s life was so very special, not only to us, but to everyone she touched with her joyful heart, beautiful voice and love for life and the Lord," the family said in a statement.

"Words cannot express what the many memorials, donations and tributes shared by Christina"s fans and those in the media and entertainment industry mean to us. She will live on in our hearts forever."

Give the song below a listen.

Patton Oswalt Remembers Michelle McNamara in Moving Essay

Ever since his wife, Michelle McNamara, died in her sleep at the age of 46 last month, Patton Oswalt has been uncharacteristically quiet.

The beloved comedian and actor tweeted a loving tribute to McNamara one week after her death, writing:

“She wrote lines that stung & hummed. 13 years in her presence was happily humbling. #RIPMichelleMcNamara.”

He included a link to make donations to in McNamara’s honor to 826LA, an organization that assists students with their writing skills.

Fans of Oswalt’s know that he and his McNamara – a writer who operated the website True Crime Diary – shared a common love of words.

The comic is as well-known for his eloquence as for his cunning wit, so it was no surprise when he paid more long-form tribute to his beloved wife of 11 years in a way that honored both her work and her devotion to her husband and daughter.

He accomplished that today, in an essay for Time magazine that is both moving and full of surprising revelations about a life well-lived:

After recounting her tireless work for the website that made hers a familiar name in certain online circles, Oswalt recalls McNamara’s earlier days and lesser-known achievements:

“Those are facts but not her entire story,” he writes.

“Her life also involved social work in Belfast and Oakland, and screenwriting in Los Angeles, and teaching creative writing at Minnesota State, and motherhood and marriage and glorious, lost years on the outskirts of the early 90s Chicago music scene, where she also worked for a young Michelle Obama.

“One day Michelle Obama’s husband came into the office to speak to the staff. He was impressive and funny. Another encounter, another memory in a life spent fascinated with people and relationships and the unknown.

“The reaction to her passing, the people who are shocked at her senseless absence, is a testament to how she steered her life with joyous, wicked curiosity. Cops and comedians call—speechless or sending curt regards.

“Her family is devastated but can’t help remember all of the times she made them laugh or comforted them, and they smile and laugh themselves. She hasn’t left a void. She’s left a blast crater.”

You can read Oswalt’s entire tribute to McNamara at Time magazine’s website now.

Kim Kardashian on Prince: Remembers the Time He Kicked Her Off Stage

That awkward moment when Prince totally kicks your famous, tremendous ass off stage.

Kim Kardashian remembers it.

We would never go so far as to say it was one of Prince’s finest moments.

Prince’s finest moments had absolutely NOTHING to do with any Kardashian.

But we have to admit, it was pretty sweet.

Kim finally tweeted about her onstage encounter with the music legend, which took place during a concert at Madison Square Garden in 2011.

She shared the pic above, capturing the moment when she briefly shared the platform with the purple majesty, just before he instructed her to “get off the stage!”

“I will always remember this moment with one of my favorite artists! I was so star struck I froze! RIP Prince,” Kim wrote.

Note that she makes no mention of how she was exiled, even though that’s the one cherished bit the rest of us all remember so fondly.

It may have been an attempt to explain why she just stood there like a statue and refused to dance.

AT A PRINCE CONCERT.

Here’s the glorious footage, in case you missed it:

At the time, she attempted to reclaim some dignity by tweeting about the incident.

“Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!”

It truly was a wonderful night… for Kardashian haters everywhere.

All hail the Purple One.

Prince died Thursday morning in his Minnesota home at the age of 57.

A cause of death is yet to be determined.

Kylie Jenner Reveals Who Her First Kiss Was & Then Calls Him Up — See If He Remembers It The Same Way!

This is kind of adorable!

Kylie Jenner must have been feeling a bit nostalgic as she thought back about her long and storied past with so many memories and life lessons — you know, all 18 years of them! LOLz!

We kid!

But the reality star did have her mind on the past as she recently shared details of her first kiss with her friends Anastasia Karanikolaou and Shamari Maurice for a little segment on her new app!

Jenner said that in fourth grade, she kissed her friend Matthew on the lips — just a quick little peck — in a friend’s front yard.

Awwww!

But King Kylie wasn’t content with her memory as she decided to check to see if the number she had for him was still good!

The 18-year-old got her childhood friend on the phone and told him how much she missed him. He was obviously pretty surprised.

But Matthew didn’t quite remember it the same way and denied that he was her first kiss! Burn!

Jenner insisted though saying:

“Matthew, you know you were… You know what I’m talking about.”

Matt finally gave in and said he did remember and even recalled details Kylie didn’t remember!

We’re not sure how Tyga feels about this, but we think it’s SUPER cute!

Do you remember your first kiss and are you still in contact with them? If not would you have the guts to call them? Sound off in the comments (below)!
