Bindi Irwin"s DWTS Win: Dad"s Strength "Is What Keeps Me Going"
It was a well-deserved win.
Bindi Irwin and her dance partner, Derek Hough emerged victorious on last night’s Dancing With The Stars, something Irwin will not soon forget.
“I am so speechless right now! I can’t believe it!” Irwin told Us Magazine when the showed ended. “The glitter all over the floor may be from my mind just exploding into glitter!
“I am so honored and so blessed to be here. And this entire experience has felt like the most beautiful gift.
Talk turned to Irwin’s late father, Steve, who died in 2006.
“I couldn’t even imagine if Dad was here right now!
“Honestly, I hope that he’d be proud of me and I hope that I’m able to carry on in his footsteps and make sure that his legacy lives on, because his strength is what keeps me going.
“And life is filled with so many challenges and beautiful moments and to be able to share them with my family and to be able to share them with the ones that you love the most, that’s what’s the most important thing in life.”
Irwin took to Instagram after her win, and summed up her experience on the competition.
“I am speechless,” Iriwin wrote. This is a gift and I can’t tell you how much love I have for all of your support throughout this beautiful journey. My life has been changed.”
Bindi Irwin: Watch Her Emotional Dancing With the Stars Victory!
It"s hard to recall another Dancing With the Stars contestant who was as universally beloved as Bindi Irwin.
So it"s not surprising that fans and judges chose to recognize Bindi"s talents and her indomitable spirit by rewarding her with the show"s highest honor last night.
The 17-year-old Aussie and partner Derek Hough took home the Mirrored Ball for DWTS Season 21 after earning yet another round of perfect scores for their Argentine tango.
"Thank you so much for everything. I can"t believe that I"m here," Irwin told the crowd after accepting her trophy. "Thank you for changing my life."
Indeed, for Bindi, this was far more than a dancing competition. It was a chance to pay tribute to her father, Steve Irwin, who was the first member of the family to win the world over with his boundless energy and enthusiasm.
Her dancing partner, Derek Hough, had nothing but the highest praise for the young TV personality and conservationist:
"She taught me you can have struggle, but you can struggle with joy," Hough said, when reflecting on his time with Irwin. "Whenever it feels too hard, she looks at the challenge with a smile on her face."
Irwin beat out fellow celebs Nick Carter and Alex Skarlatos to take home the season"s top prize.
For many American viewers, it was their first exposure to the infectiously optimistic teen who"s already a household name in Australia. Something tells us it won"t be their last.

Dancing With the Stars: Derek Hough Causing Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell to Split?!
Now that the Dancing With the Stars semifinal results are in, the season finale spoilers are teasing fans with rumors. But the one spoiler that has fans in a tizzy is the drama between Bindi Irwin, Chandler Powell, and Derek Hough.
As Bindi made her way to the top of the scoreboard, spoilers have claimed that Bindi, daughter of the late Steve Irwin, and her pro-dance partner Derek Hough will walk away with the Mirror Ball Trophy.
However, their victory might be overshadowed with some good old-fashioned relationship drama.
Professional wakeboarder Chandler Powell is not excited about Bindi and Derek’s chemistry on Dancing With the Stars. And to make Powell even more jealous, Bindi and Derek have been spending an increasing amount of time together off stage.
Lately, Derek has been gushing about Bindi all over social media. He even posted on Instagram, praising Bindi’s late father.
Now, a new report claims that the sh*t has finally hit the fan. Chandler feels a break-up is inevitable unless Bindi and Derek cut ties.
An insider close to Bindi and Chandler told Perez Hilton, “He says he can’t compete with guys like Derek. Poor Chandler is feeling very insecure – and there seems to be nothing Bindi can do about it.”
The source added, “She tries to reassure him, but he’s convinced she’s going to dump him.”
Some are confident that Bindi and Derek’s relationship is platonic, especially considering Bindi is only 17. That would make 30-year-old Derek a total creeper.
But Chandler doesn’t buy it.
We’ll have to witness their chemistry ourselves on next week’s season finale!

Bindi Irwin: Dancing With the Stars Contract Pays Her How Much?
Bindi Irwin’s Dancing With the Stars contract details have been revealed due to a legal dispute, allowing us insight into how much she’ll be making.
Lawyers for the show are required to submit her deal to an L.A. Superior Court judge, because the late Steve Irwin’s daughter is only 17.
Her mother, Terri, signed a form stating she gives up all rights to any money her daughter will make on the hit ABC dance competition.
Steve’s lack of consent is throwing a wrench into Bindi getting paid, as the judge is either unaware he died or wants a death certificate.
In any case, that should be straightened out eventually once the legal hurdles are crossed, as the Crocodile Hunter passed away in ’06.
Once Bindi gets paid, here’s what she’s looking at:
- A guaranteed $ 125,000 for coming on board
- $ 10,000 per week making it to Weeks 3-4
- $ 15,000 for making it to Week 5
- $ 20,000 a week for making it to Weeks 6-7
- $ 30,000 a week for making it to Weeks 8-9
- $ 50,000 a week for making it to Weeks 10-11
Bindi has made through Week 8 so far, bringing her to a cool $ 230,000, with the potential for another $ 130,000 by the end of November.
Not shabby. Beyond that, it’s unclear if there’s a bonus for winning the title or if making it to the final results show is as good as she can do.
A Mirror Ball would bring intangible and tangible fiscal benefits as well, of course, given the PR opportunities it would bring the young star.

Bindi Irwin Pays Tribute to Father, Earns Perfect 10
Bindi Irwin just earned the first perfect score of Dancing with the Stars Season 21.
And she did it in moving fashion.
On Monday"s night"s Dancing with the Stars episode, the daughter of late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin was asked by partner Derek Hough what she had in mind for the week, telling him on camera:
"What shaped me the most would probably be when my dad passed away. It"s been nine years and I"ve never really dwelled on that point. I think I"m ready to tell that story."
Cue some training and then a contemporary dance set to "Every Breath You Take," with the performance even more emotional due to the presence of Bindi"s mother and brother in the audience.
The judges gave it a 28 out of 30, with Bruno Tonioli awarding it the season"s first 10.
"This dance is for my dad, and for my family, and for everyone back at home, but for my dad," Bindi said through tears. "This is for him."

Bindi Irwin Pays A Touching Tribute To Her Father Steve Irwin In Her Upbeat Number For The Dancing With The Stars Premiere!

She explained:
“My mum always said that anytime dad would watch me dance around the zoo he would cry. I think the real reason I am doing this is to make him proud and everyone back at home in Australia proud.
You know, I think everyone is going to see a whole new side to Bindi.”
What a beautiful sentiment about her father. We think the late TV host would’ve been incredibly proud of his daughter.
The 17-year-old performed a FIERCE, upbeat jive to her dad’s favorite song Crocodile Rock with her dance partner Derek Hough. LOVES it!
In regards to her song choice, she continued:
“I don’t know it just felt natural to get into the groove. My dad liked that song, my mum likes that song. We are taking it on and bringing the fight.”
AH-Mazing! After taking in one of the top scores of the night, we’re not shocked the Aussie celeb’s been labeled the “wonder from down under.” LOLz!
The starlet wasn’t only beaming on camera but online as well.
Later in the evening, Bindi took to Instagram and shared:
This experience. I am grateful beyond words for tonight. Thank you all and especially my life coach & dance partner 🐊 #TeamCrikeyA photo posted by Bindi Irwin (@bindisueirwin) on Sep 14, 2015 at 8:42pm PDT
Aww! We can’t be the only ones tearing up, right?!
Besides the controversial contestants like Paula Deen and Gary Busey, we’re excited to tune in and watch Miz Irwin to see what’s next for the environmental activist. We have a feeling this up-and-comer has what it takes to make it to the finals.
Oh, we hope so. Way to slay, girl!
On the other side of things, Chaka Khan and Kim Zolciak-Biermann ended up the bottom two scorers with just 13 and 12 points.
Be sure to ch-ch-check out Bindi and Derek’s full performance for yourself (below)!
