Fergie Apologizes for Disastrous National Anthem

Forgive the mixed sports metaphor, but Fergie really wishes she could have a mulligan on her NBA All-Star Game national anthem performance.

The artist made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Sunday night after she donned a sexy dress and then belted out some kind of sultry rendition of our nation’s theme song.

Pretty much every single person who heard this version of the Star-Spangled Banner laid into it. Hard.

We mean it, too: Every. Single. Person.

Heck, even Roseanne Barr claimed her disrespectful and disastrous performance way back in 1990 was better than whatever Fergie was trying to accomplish.

We disagree with that assessment.

But the general point remains: This was a baffling and bizarre rendition by Fergie.

Take a look and take a listen for yourself if you have not already done so:

In the wake of universal panning across the Internet, Fergie has taken a step we can’t ever recall an artist taking after he or she performed a less-than stellar anthem:

She’s come out and apologized.

“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” she said in a statement first published by TMZ.

The statement continued:

“I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

Pretty impressive, right?

Many stars over the years have attempted to put their own spin on this legendary song by holding certain notes for a long period of time or emphasizing certain lyrics.

Fergie likely thought she would attempt something similar.

She just lacks the vocal range to pull anything too unique off with her range, so she went the seductive route instead.

It failed miserable, as evidenced by the Tweets below…

oh, fergie

… but it’s hard not to admire Fergie for admitting it and for taking responsibility for it.

And we certainly never thought for a second that Fergie had anything but love for the United States.

At various points, the Black Eyed Pea seemed to struggle to hit notes, although she closed out the tune with an impressive vibrato, telling the arena at the very end:

“Let’s play some basketball!”

Thankfully, the All-Star Game itself was so competitive that some people forgot all about Fergie’s opening fail.

Some, that is. But very clearly not most.

Taylor Swift: Pissing Off Fans With "Disastrous" Tour?

After the release of her 1989 album, it seemed Taylor Swift could do no wrong.

Then 2017 happened.

Obviously, Taylor is still cranking out the hits, and her popularity shows no signs of waning.

However, her carefully cultivated “everybody’s bestie” image has taken some serious hits in the past year.

Taylor’s feud with Kim Kardashian may have made the most waves, but the singer drew criticism for a number of other public dust-ups, as well.

From rumors that Taylor supports Donald Trump to complaints that she attacked her rivals too viciously on her new album, it’s been one PR mini-crisis after another.

Through it all, of course, the most loyal Swifties have stood by their queen.

But the latest Taylor-related controversy might prove to be the last straw for some faithful fans.

Countless corporate tie-ins and bizarre promotional stunts have led to criticism that the already-fabulously wealthy Swift is overly concerned with further enriching herself at the expense of her fans.

Thus far, it’s a strategy that’s paid dividends, but some believe Taylor has gone too far with her latest cash-grab.

Fans who attempted to buy tickets for her upcoming tour experienced major sticker shock when they found that seats cost several times more than on her 1989 tour.

Some potential concertgoers complained that they had hoped to see Taylor in the same venue as last time, but were stunned to find they were being asked to pay 3 to 4 times as much.

“I paid $ 150 for my ticket with amazing seats for the 1989 tour. Now for the same seats I have to pay about $ 500,” tweeted one fan.

It’s a situation that’s resulted in a lot of pissed off Swifties–and a lot of empty seats.

“Sales so far have been a mega disappointment,” one music industry insider tells the New York Post.

“There are hundreds if not thousands of tickets left for every show.”

Fan irritation seems to have been exacerbated by a number of promotions that allow buyers to purchase tickets at a lower price–provided they’re willing to shell out for Taylor’s merchandise.

“To get ‘further in line’ to buy Taylor Swift tickets she wants you [to] buy merch from her … this greedy snake,” tweeted one critic.

As a result of what appear to be major miscalculations by Team Taylor, the Reputation Tour has not sold out a single show thus far.

Tickets have been on sale since Taylor’s birthday, December 13.

Compare that to the 1989 tour, which “sold out in minutes,” according to industry analysts.

In the past year, Taylor has proven that she can feud with other celebrities, and her most devoted fans will only love her more for baring her teeth.

However, if she decides to lock horns with the folks who have made her one of the biggest stars on the planet, that’s a fight she’ll likely regret.

Katy Perry: Disastrous VMAs Hosting Has American Idol Producers in a PANIC!

Folks who didn’t watch the VMAs on Sunday because they were too busy watching relatives bone on Game of Thrones or escaping rising floodwaters, answer this: What did you hear, after-the-fact, about Katy Perry?

Katy Perry was the host, and she was just … not overwhelming. No huge controversies, sure, but not even Katy’s terrible opening monologue was especially memorable.

That’s a problem for Katy, but it might be an even bigger problem for American Idol producers, who are reportedly very concerned that they’re paying $ 25 million to Katy Perry to be a judge only for her to flop.

On Sunday, I had friends over, and they mentioned that traffic was especially slow near my home.

Why? Because American Idol auditions were in town.

Yes, in case you’ve managed to forget, American Idol is coming back, like some archetypal horde that people thought had been defeated.

The biggest stir of publicity about it is Katy Perry’s salary of $ 25 million.

Don’t get us wrong, she’s a big-time celebrity who’s hosted the Superbowl, which is probably what the American Idol producers and the network were thinking when they hired her.

What they clearly weren’t thinking about:

One, that Katy Perry was singing for her Superbowl Halftime show, which is very different from sitting at a table and talking and judging.

Two, that Katy Perry was pretty famously upstaged at that show by Left Shark. You didn’t forget Left Shark, did you?

Well now, RadarOnline is reporting that ABC higher ups and American Idol showrunners are worried that they made a mistake by hiring Katy Perry to be a judge.

It sounds like they’re panicking, actually.

RadarOnline‘s source reports that her lackluster hosting over the weekend is what has them so concerned.

“They are paying her $ 25 million and she was a total dud [on the VMAs].”

You might be wondering how they didn’t catch it earlier, right?

Here’s how:

“No one ever auditioned her for the new Idol job and they are freaking out that they hired someone who is terrible on live television.”

Oh dear!

Usually, if you get a job without applying for it (or auditioning, in this case), it’s because someone who’s seen your work up close before (maybe a coworker or a former boss) is either doing the hiring or has vouched for you.

It sounds like Katy was just offered the gig, sight unseen.

ABC had already had concerns, RadarOnline had previously reported, that Katy Perry might upstage contestants.

(Like Mariah Carey)

Or that she might just need to tone down … not her look, but her very attention-grabbing personality.

(As far as we can tell, that’s not a euphemism for her boobs)

Judges are supposed to evaluate contestants, not overshadow them.

Now, though, it sounds like ABC and American Idol are afraid that Katy’s just going to fall flat like she did at the VMAs.

Just because someone is good at singing and performing doesn’t mean that they’re good at talking on camera.

Similarly, like, just because someone’s great at giving interview or interviewing people doesn’t mean that they have a dazzling singing voice or would make an amazing performer.

This should be a lesson to us all, we suppose: make sure that you hire the best and most highly recommended babysitter or dog-walker or whatever. Not just the one who happens to be hot.

Chloe Lattanzi: Olivia Newton-John"s Daughter Reveals "Disastrous" Boob Job

Chloe Lattanzi is the daughter of beloved actress and former pop star Olivia Newton-John.

The 31-year-old model and aspiring singer is making tabloid headlines today thanks to her eye-opening comments about the horrors of plastic surgery gone awry on Tuesday"s episode of The Doctors.

Lattanzi revealed that she underwent her first cosmetic procedure when she was just 18 – and has regretted it ever since.

"All those things were a disaster,” Lattanzi said when asked about the multiple breast implants she received in her teens and early twenties.

“Not only did the lip implants look ridiculous, the first boob op I had in Australia when I was 18, left me looking mutilated.”

Thirteen years and more than half a million dollars in cosmetic surgery later, Lattanzi says she"s finally happy with her appearance.

“Now I’m a 32DD and I love my body and love showing my new boobs off," she said today.

"Mom supported my surgery decisions because she knew how unhappy I was before.”

Sadly, plastic surgery disasters are not unusual in Hollywood, but they usually become closely-guarded secrets.

It"s a rare to see a public figure such as Lattanza open up about such nightmarish experiences, and hopefully her candidness will help young people avoid similar misfortunes.

These days, Lattanza says she"s happier and healthier than ever.

She"s soon to release an album; she"s engaged; and she recently moved to Oregon to open a marijuana dispensary with her fiance.

Check out Lattanza"s full interview below:
