Abbie Burnett Melts Over John-David Duggar"s "Tender" Wedding Kiss

They do, folks.

Actually, correction: They already did.

This past Saturday, John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett completed their whirlwind romance by exchanging vows and getting married.

At 28 years old, John-David was ancient by the typical standards of Duggar children by the time they took this step, but he clearly was just waiting for the right person.

And then Burnett, a nurse who lives in Oklahoma, came along… and that was it.

The two (who did know each other a bit for years prior to getting all lovey dovey) started courting in June, got engaged in July and were husband and wife mere months later.

What was their wedding day like?

How did John-David feel upon seeing his bride-to-be walking down that aisle?

“It little surreal because I’ve dreamed about that ever since I met Abbie,” he said in a video the newlyweds filmed prior to even taking off their wedding attire.

In this same TLC-sponsored footage, Burnett said it was “wonderful” to be Duggar’s wife and added:

“Two of my favorite moments was the opening song, just welcoming in God’s presence and John’s tender kiss at the end.”

Whoa there, Abbie! Take it down a notch, will ya?!?

She actually won’t, and she really hasn’t ever since she and John-David confirmed their courtship.

The two were spotted holding hands and showing public displays of affection long before making their relationship legal, both of which are major no-no’s according to the heads of the Duggar cult, Jim Bob and Michelle.

Both Abbie and John-David have made it pretty clear just what they think of these Duggar courtship rules.

And Burnett continued to show a saucy side in this post-wedding interview with TLC cameras.

Toward the end, John-David said he and his wife had no real plans over the next few weeks aside from “serving God together and spending time together,” to which Abbie replied.”

“And the honeymoon.”

She said so with eyebrows raised, basically blurting out for all to hear:

WE’RE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH WILD AND CRAZY SEX DURING THIS VACATION!!!!

Said the couple to Us Weekly after getting hitched:

“We are so excited to be married!

“It was a beautiful moment and we so appreciate our friends and family for sharing this day with us. Most of all we are thankful to Christ for bringing us together.

“This is going to be an amazing journey!”

The official Duggar blog, meanwhile, used the nuptials as a chance to both congratulate Abbie and John-David — and also promote a couple programs on TLC.

This is what the blog entry read:

John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett are husband and wife!

They tied the knot this afternoon in Abbie’s home state of Oklahoma. This Duggar wedding is the 8th for Jim Bob and Michelle, and they now have an equal number of married daughters and sons

After a church ceremony, John and Abbie hosted their reception at an airplane hanger located at a regional airport. Guests were treated to a breakfast buffet.

Did the newlyweds leave in a getaway car or plane?

Find out in just a few weeks, when their wedding airs on TLC (Tuesday, November 27th, at 10pm ET/9pm CT).

On the 20th, the network will share a first look video. We will let you know when it’s available.

John-David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett: MARRIED!

John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett have finally gotten fo first base.

And now they’re prepared to go all the way…

… as husband and wife!

The couple, who started courting in June and announced their engagement a month later, went ahead and got married on Saturday, November 3.

They confirmed the exciting news to Us Weekly via a statement that reads:

“We are so excited to be married!

“It was a beautiful moment and we so appreciate our friends and family for sharing this day with us. Most of all we are thankful to Christ for bringing us together.

“This is going to be an amazing journey!”

The Duggar family also made the nuptials public by writing a post titled “Husband and Wife!” on its official blog that includes this passage:

“We are overjoyed for the two of them to begin their married life together.  We know the Lord has brought them together and will use them to reach many people.

“We are so happy to be surrounded by family and friends and we thank you all for your prayers and support for John and Abbie.”

Many members of his famous family were afraid that John-David would never find a mate, but he seemed VERY into Abbie as soon as the pair made their relationship romantic.

We often heard the two were breaking Duggar courtship rules on the reg, snuggling and even kissing in public.

They just couldn’t keep their hands off each other, according to various reports.

Touching of pretty much any kind before marriage is forbidden by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.

Now, however, nothing is off limits.

We’d have to imagine John-David and Abbie took full advantage of their new status on their wedding night, as they addded a section of their own in the aforementioned blog post.

“We are so excited to be married!” it reads.

“It was a beautiful moment and we so appreciate our friends and family for sharing this day with us.

“Most of all we are thankful to Christ for bringing us together. This is going to be an amazing journey!”

This bride and groom knew of each other for several years before they started courting, although Burnett said over the summer that she “really got connected” to Duggar when the TLC personality visited her native Oklahoma for a church event.

Abbie lives there and works there as a nurse.

In a network-sponsored video, meanwhile, Duggar and Burnett explained that they “fell in love very quickly,” saying together after agreeing to marry in July:

Wow! We are engaged! This feels even more real than before! It was a special moment to share together.

The proposal and the ‘YES’ really solidified that we want to spend the rest of our lives together.

One of the most amazing things about following Christ is being able to trust Him to direct your path and lead your life.

We are so thankful that He led us to one another.

And now He has led them into marriage.

In June, as you likely know, another Counting On family member, Joshiah Duggar, married Lauren Swanson in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

For more details on Duggar and Burnett’s big day, fans will be able can get a first look of the ceremony on November 20 on TLC GO.

And they can also tune in November 27 at 10/9c to see the wedding special on TLC.

Congrats to the newlyweds!

John-David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett: They... Are... Courting!

John-David Duggar has apparently come out of the closet.

No, not like that.

You do know which famous family he’s a part of, right?

Last summer, though, we EXCLUSIVELY reported that John-David was involved in a secret courtship.

That may or may not have been the case at the time.

But now this Counting On cast member has gone public with a verified courtship, confirming to Us Weekly that he has taken this very, very serious step with Abbie Grace Burnett.

“Abbie and I are just so excited, we’ve known of each other for several years,” the 28-year-old told the aforementioned tabloid of this relationship, adding:

“We fell in love very quickly and it’s been a wonderful journey thus far.”

This exciting piece of news comes about two years after Jinger Duggar sort of claimed that her brother was involved with some other woman, as questions about John-David’s love life have been plaguing the Internet for a long time now.

The guy is 28 years old after all.

That’s like retirement age for the Duggars in terms of courting, marrying and then having many babies.

He’s fallen way behind already!

This comes as little surprise to anyone familiar with John-David, as he’s considered the most quiet of almost all Duggars and perhaps the one least interested in the spotlight.

John-David is Michelle and Jim Bob’s second-oldest son, the twin brother of fan favorite Jana Duggar… yet you probably know very little about him.

He works as a pilot, firefighter and sheriff’s deputy and he sometimes clashes with his conversation/controlling father.

There’s even been talk that Duggar may walk away from reality television entirely!

Abbie, who is 26, says the following to Us Weekly about when her love first bloomed for this reluctant TLC cast member:

“John flew in for a church event here in Oklahoma where I’m from. We really got connected then.”

Well… okay then!

We see that she is a woman of few words. No wonder these two get along so well!

According to the now-defunct BurnettFamily10 blog that was once run by Burnett’s family, Abbie had seven siblings as of 2010, including a brother whose hyphenated name is strikingly similar to that of her future husband.

On the archived “About” section of this since-deleted blog, her siblings are listed as John-Clay, Hannah, Caleb, Charity, twins Maggie and Carinna and Benjamin.

And according to the TLC website, Abbie works as a nurse, which makes her a perfect match for volunteer first responder John-David.

She also resides in Oklahoma, while John-David lives in Arkansas with his family. We wonder where they will live if they get married.

“Big news! #JohnDavidDuggar has a special someone,” wrote TLC on its official Instagram account this week, adding as a tease:

“Visit TLCme.com to meet the happy couple, and learn more about #AbbieBurnett.”

Wow. She has her own hashtag. This really must be serious!

John-David one quipped that he’ll be a “bachelor until the rapture,” so he truly must have intense feelings for Abbie. Or he must feel intense pressure from his loved ones.

Either way… best of luck to the new and official couple!

John-David Duggar: Courtship Confirmed By Jinger Duggar!

Back in April, rumors that John-David Duggar is courting an unidentified young lady began to circulate online.

John-David was evasive when asked about his love life on Counting On, but now it seems there’s more to the story than we initially realized.

Apparently, it’s customary for courting Duggars to confide in their parents and exactly one sibling.

We don’t understand the tradition, but then, there’s a lot that we don’t understand about the Duggar way of life.

Anyway, when Jana Duggar finds herself a potential hand-holding partner, she apparently reports back to her twin John-David.

As you can see in this deleted scene from Jill & Jessa: Counting On, however, JD does not return the favor:

Yes, it seems that Jinger Duggar is John-David’s confidant, and if he wanted someone to keep his secret romance under lock-and-key, he may have made the wrong choice

“I guess people say that I know the most about John’s relationship status,” Jinger says when asked about the low-key courtship.

“My answer to that, the info I know, is ask John. It’s true. My lips are sealed.”

Sure, she didn’t technically spill the tea, but she definitely verified that there’s a secret to keep, which is almost as bad.

As for John-David, it seems he just doesn’t get what all the fuss is about.

“I don’t know why they’re so hung up on me finding a woman,” he says at one point.

Joseph quickly gets to the bottom of that mystery, saying, “It’s because he’s 26.”

Yeah, we’re pretty sure Joe hit the nail on the head with that one.

John-David Duggar Talks Courtship: Has He Met Someone?

For all the talk about Jana Duggar’s love life (or lack thereof), there’s been relatively little speculation about her chronically single brother John-David.

Jana and John-David are the oldest unmarried Duggars, yet JDD has somehow managed to avoid the questions about marriage and kids that have plagued his sister for years – until now:

In the above clip, John-David is finally asked point-blank about his dating (excuse us, “courting”) prospects.

His answer is evasive – yet telling.

Questioned about his “future plans” regarding marriage, John-David replied:

“Future plans would be – if the Lord would bring the right one along, and then I’ll start a family and hopefully be able to invest in their lives and raise up a generation that will be great people for this society.”

Perhaps sensing that John-David was dancing around something, the interviewer pressed the issue, eventually asking flat-out if John-David had met someone:

“I don’t have anybody,” John-David said after a long pregnant pause. “But I am praying about. Keep watching.”

Rumors about John-David courting a “mystery brunette” circulated online back in 2014, but nothing ever came of them, and if there was a relationship, it appears to have fizzled.

The Duggars strict courtship rules don’t allow for relationships to go on for longer than a few months unless the couple makes firm plans to marry.

So we believe John-David when he says he’s currently single, but the way he says “keep watching” makes us think there’s more to his romantic situation than he’s letting on.

Jana Duggar Talks Courtship: John-David is My Wingman!

If you watched Jill & Jessa: Counting On Season 2 Episode 3, you know that fan favorite Jana was surprisingly candid when discussing the question of why she and twin John-David are still single and childless at the age of 26.

That may not sound old, but in Duggar Land, every year that an adult woman’s not raisin’ babies is a wasted one, and fans have been persistent in their inquiries about Jana’s love life

According to Jana, she’s definitely still single, but it’s not for lack of trying.

The so-called “Cinderella Duggar” didn’t expressly deny rumors that she’s been forced to stay home and help raise her siblings, but she did say that the reason she’s unattached is simpler than the media thinks:

Apparently, she just hasn’t met the right guy.

Unfortunately, it seems she’s not casting a very wide net in her search for Mr. Right.

You see, instead of hitting up booze-free single bars or Fundamentalist Christian Mingle (We assume both of those things exist.), Jana looks to her twin for help in the dude department:

“John would be great at finding somebody. He has a lot of wisdom in that area,” said Jana on last night’s Counting On.

“I’ll give him advice. He’ll give me advice. Guys know guys better. Girls know girls better. It’s kind of nice because we can just help each other out in that way.”

We suppose that’s generally true, but the problem is that when your brother is homeschooled on a compound with 18 of his siblings, the only guys he knows well are also your brothers.

We don’t generally offer dating advice here on THG, but take note, single folk:

When you’re looking for the right person to lose your virginity to, the search should never start at home. #TheMoreYouKnow

John-David Duggar Blames "The Devil" For Josh Duggar Sex Scandal

Tomorrow night, the Duggars will return to television, with Jill and Jessa: Counting On, a 19 Kids and Counting spinoff that will focus on the lives of the family’s older siblings.

This morning, several of the brothers and sisters appeared on Good Morning America to promote the series.

It’s the first time they’ve been interviewed as a group since the Josh Duggar sex scandals shook their family to its foundations last year, and as seems to be the case with all things Duggar-related these days, the segment was not without some controversy.

Things started awkwardly, with 26-year-old John-David Duggar declaring that the girls in his family “love” to do laundry.

Not exactly scandalous, but also not the sort of sentiment one often hears expressed publicly in 2016.

But it’s not the Duggars old-fashioned ways that are raising concerns on social media today.

Instead, many are riled up about a different comment John-David made – one that’s being interpreted as an attempt to divert blame from Josh and use his scandalous behavior to promote the family’s new series.

“The devil took his best shot,” John-David said when asked about Josh’s indiscretions.

“And he tried to take our whole family down, but God has really used this to – instead of tearing us apart as a family, he’s using it to draw us together.”

When asked about the healing process and prompted to discuss the events that will be depicted on Counting On, John-David continued:

“You just have to watch. We’re moving on with our lives, and we wanted to share that with our fans, the folks that have followed us for years.”

The remarks struck many as insensitive and tone deaf, as intentionally or not, John-David seems to be brushing the scandals aside and down-playing the severity of his brother’s crimes.

Host Robin Roberts no doubt spoke for many viewers when she referenced the family’s history of dishonesty and past efforts to “sweep this under the rug.”

GMA confirmed that Josh is home from rehab after being treated for sex addiction, but will not appear in the new series.
