And, no, we"re not referring to this being the 21st century and women still being paraded across the stage in bikinis and ball gowns.

We"re talking about the types of scandals that have left multiple winners stripped of their crowns.

1. Miss US… NAY!

After Donald Trump made controversial comments about Mexican immigrants, NBC refused to air the Trump-owned Miss USA pageant in 2015.

2. Katie Rees

Katie Rees was crowned Miss Nevada in 2007… only to then lose her crown after sexually-explicit images from the year before went viral. She was also charged with meth possession in 2015.

3. Emily Kachote

Miss Zimbabwe 2015 also was forced to vacate her crown after naked photos hit the Internet.

4. Saly Greige and Doron Matalon

Lebanese Miss Universe 2015 contestant Saly Greige and Miss Israel Doron Matalon stirred up major controversy despite keeping their clothes on: the beauties dared to be photographed together despite Lebanon and Israel have been at war since 2006.

5. Carrie Prejean

Carrie Prejean was the first runner-up for Miss USA in 2009. She made major headlines for coming out against gay marriage in her Q&A segment, eventually losing her Miss California crown due to breach of contract.

6. Jamie France

Jamie France won Miss Teen Oregon-World in 2009. No problem there. But she was then arrested on drug charges in 2014.

Miss Iceland 2015: Take Your Body-Shaming Pageant and Shove It!

Arna Yr Jónsdóttir, Miss Iceland 2015, unceremoniously quit an upcoming beauty pageant because the asshats in charge told her that she should lose weight. 

For reference, this is what Arna looks like. 

LOL. Are you LOLing, too? Because we’re LOLing so hard. 

The advice that prompted Jónsdóttir to withdraw from the competition? 

“Stop eating breakfast, eat just salad for lunch, and drink water every evening until the contest.” 

If it doesn’t involve cake, red meat, or pasta, we just don’t want to have any part of it. 

And the bit about the obviously perfect Arna having to lose weight? 

Good grief, please. 

The pageant – to be held in Las Vegas – is just four days away, and it appears that Jónsdóttir will not be competing. 

When Jónsdóttir balked at the idea of crash-dieting in the days leading up to the pageant, she received a message from the show’s television presenter. 

He said, “[I am] telling you this because [I] like you and want you to do well in this contest.”

Her response?

Gold. 

“If the owner of the contest really wants me to lose weight and doesn’t like me the way I am, then he doesn’t deserve to have me in the Top 10,” she spat back.

She continued and said, “Yes, my shoulders are a bit broader than the other girls, but that is because I was a member of the Icelandic national athletics team and I am proud of that.”

We are too.

“Of course,” she continued, “I don’t take these comments to heart, but to do my best [and then hear this]…personally, I think I’m fine as I am.

Oh, girl, we do, too.

She concluded, “I no longer have any interest in doing my best in this competition after receiving that message.” 

“This is definitely the last contest I shall be taking part in.” 

After the drama subsided, she posted on Instagram, and said that she’d continue her time in Las Vegas, enjoying it and taking in the scene, but not before penning a handwritten letter to the showrunners. 

The letter classily signed off, “In my country, my body shape is perfect. And that’s what I’m gonna remember. No one will ever tell me anything else.” 

“I hope that the finals will be amazing,” she concluded. “I know the show will be.” 

And you will be – and are! – too, girl.  

You keep on doing you, and don’t let anybody body-shame you into doing anything else.

Baylee Curran: Stripped of Beauty Pageant Crown for Stripping Down!

Baylee Curran’s name is everywhere right now for getting Chris Brown arrested. 

Curran was at Chris Brown’s home on August 30, but things took a terrifying turn when an argument broke out. 

Chris allegedly waved a gun at the beauty pageant winner when things got out of hand. 

It resulted in a tense standoff as police waited hours for Chris to surrender himself to them. 

Chris also threw a duffel bag out a window with guns and drugs in it. 

The rapper even took to Instagram to claim the whole thing was blown out of proportion. 

To an extent, it was, but he should not be waving guns at people. 

Baylee has opened up about her ordeal, placing the blame on Brown.

It appears that Baylee has been in a lot of trouble this year for not adhering to the requirements of being Miss California Regional 2016.

Pretty much as soon as she was crowned, nude pictures of her were sent to the pageant director. 

This caused a lot of drama for her, but Curran was quick to rule the nudes as fake. 

After going at it with the pageant director, Curran was given one more chance. 

As you can probably guess, Baylee blew that chance. 

Curran continued to screw up and deceived the pageant director. 

She didn’t even show up to any the scheduled events she was meant to go to as Miss California Regional. 

The last straw appears to have been when she ditched an event, but was tagged in pictures frolicking in a boat. 

That’s hardly model behavior. 

Baylee was allegedly rude when the director asked for the crown back. 

“You’re the director. You can make or bend the rules. I’m keeping the crown and we can move on.”

Miss America Pageant -- Meltdown Over Vanessa Williams Apology

The Miss America execs preparing for the live show on Sunday are in crisis mode over Vanessa Williams‘ appearance … and it all has to do with the nude, girl-on-girl pics that caused her to get dethroned 31 years ago.

Sources connected with the pageant tell TMZ, Vanessa agreed to appear at the beginning of the show where a Miss America official would apologize for forcing her to resign after the now-famous photos were unearthed. Vanessa would then be presented with a fresh crown.  

But production sources tell TMZ, there was a meeting Wednesday between Vanessa’s people and the organization and it all hit the fan, because the Miss America people were under the impression Vanessa would apologize for her actions, and then they would give her the crown.

It seems almost ridiculous pageant officials would think Vanessa would fall on the sword, but that’s the case. 

As of Thursday night, the 2 sides are at an impasse. The pressure’s on the organization, because a promo has been running non-stop touting Vanessa’s return.
