Michael Moore Blames Donald Trump Presidency on ... Gwen Stefani

Before the days of Rudy Giuliani saying “Truth isn’t truth,” Donald Trump was a reality star. So what prompted him to run for office?

Michael Moore has a theory, and he shared it while promoting his new film on Trump.

Moore says that the blame for Trump’s run for office can ulimately be laid at the feet of … Gwen Stefani. What?!

In a lengthy interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Moore shares his curious theory about what heralded our current political nightmare.

While it’s a bit of an oversimplification to blame Gwen Stefani … he basically blames Gwen Stefani.

See, Gwen was getting paid more to be a coach on The Voice than Trump was for starring on The Apprentice. Both shows were on NBC.

Moore’s theory is that Trump staged that first, infamous political rally as a stunt to remind NBC of his value as an entertainer.

And here we are in 2018, where every day is steeped in misery and dread. Is this all Gwen’s fault?

“He’d been talking about running for president since 1988,” Moore tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Trump spoke of the idea, like anyone who always believes that they could do better, Moore says, “but he didn’t really want to be president.”

“There’s no penthouse in the White House,” Moore explains.

Presidents work relentlessly at hours that they seldom get to choose. They are under constant scrutiny and carry the weight of the world on their shoulders.

“And,” Moore adds. “He doesn’t want to live in a black city” like Washington D.C.

“He was trying to pit NBC against another network,” Moore summarizes.

Moore says that all that Trump wanted was a little more money and attention, “but it just went off the rails.”

Trump’s stunt, if Moore is correct about his intentions, backfired disastrously.

While any hefty dose of anti-immigration rhetoric is going to be exciting to racists, Trump referring to Mexican immigrants as “rapists” was too openly hateful.

NBC severed their ties with Trump, leaving him without a show … but with crowds of enthusiastic fans who clung to his every word.

Obviously, Gwen Stefani is not actually to blame for our current existential misery.

Of course she was being paid more for her role on The Voice — she’s a huge star.

Trump was, at the time, just a famous buffoon whom most people didn’t consider to be a political figure at all unless they remembered his “birther” antics.

In fact, it was smart of him to secure the regular salary of a reality series. That’s a good idea for anyone who is famously terrible at running a business.

This also isn’t NBC’s fault. Cutting ties with him after his racist comments was the right thing to do. Unfortunately, too much of the electorate did not feel the same way.

Trump is not Gwen’s fault. The Trump Regime is the fault of Donald Trump, of the society that paved the way for him, and of everyone who voted for him.

Moore’s theory may also ignore that Trump had apparently been plotting this since 2012, even registering trademarks in the buildup to his 2015 announcement.

Notably, Trump’s trip to Russia is believed by many to have helped to fuel his desire to run for office.

Moore may be right in that Trump never planned to win, but we’re not sure that Gwen’s salary was the impetus that he believes it to be.

As always, however, Michael Moore’s perspective is an interesting one to hear, even if you do not agree with him.

Judd Apatow Compares Trump Presidency to Rape, Remains a Jackass

If history has taught us anything, it’s that when a Snooki-colored despot seizes power with the help of a Russian dictator and immediately begins using his stubby baby fingers to shred the Constitution, the opposition doesn’t exactly mince words.

Just kidding, a situation like the Trump presidency has never happened before in the history of anywhere (*googles “Germany 1938″* on second thought…), but when the political sh-t hits the fan like it has in recent months in America, people say things they wouldn’t normally say.

Some of those comments sound crazy, but are actually completely reasonable descriptions of what’s currently taking place in the halls of power.

These comments include “there’s reason to believe the president colluded with a hostile foreign power in order to manipulate a U.S. election, which would mean we’re just beginning to uncover the biggest political scandal in American history.”

Other comments, however, sound crazy and are actually are the sort of remarks that should be left to the tinfoil hat crowd.

A joke made by noted coattail rider and Lena Dunham apologist Judd Apatow serves as a great example of this type of butthurt hyperbole:

Promoting his new HBO show, Neurotic White People in Manhattan (we’re just guessing at the title/concept), Apatow took the stage to perform standup in LA last night.

If you’ve ever been in a room full of people who have gathered to watch a standup set by someone who’s not a professional standup comic, you know how high the expectations were.

Sadly, Apatow was not able to rise to the occasion, and not only because he was unable to simply point a camera at Seth Rogen and go take a nap.

Speaking of the night Trump got elected, Apatow delivers the rare triple-threat bad joke:

It was unfunny, unoriginal, and in poor taste:

“[I felt like] a person about to get raped, but I didn’t know how bad it would be.” Apatow told his audience.

“I feel like I’ve just been raped and I just don’t know if I’m going to get murdered.”

Yes, Judd Apatow thinks he’s funny enough to crack the crowd up with not only, but a joke about what it feels like to be raped.

He is wrong, and like the movie Funny People, the attempt serves as a potent reminder of how little Apatow understands comedy.

When the world thinks you should really just stick to basking in the reflected glory of Lena Dunham, you know your career has really gone off the rails.

But hey, we have to thank him for reminding us how it feels to be pissed off by something not directly related to Trump.

It’s like learning how to love again.

Miley Cyrus Bursts Into Tears Over Donald Trump Presidency

Miley Cyrus did not casually take to Twitter last night and express her shock and/or dismay over Donald Trump being elected President of the United States.

No.

This was too big of a deal for a simple Tweet. It required far more of a reaction than 140 characters and some kind of hashtag.

Instead, Cyrus shared the above photo of herself and her dog and wrote as a caption:

Go to my Facebook to see a video of my reaction & reflection on last nights election …. If we want Donald Trump to accept us …. We must be accepting towards his presidency & his promise to “unify” our country and “make America great” ….

I leave out the “again” because this country has never been able to live up to its full potential because we’ve been putting up our own divided walls between each other. We don’t need Trump to do that for us….

So WE must take a hammer to the bricks WE built up and be more LOVING and compassionate towards all living things! (including the planet)

(p.s. Mr. Elected president….. Global warming IS real. ACCEPT THAT)

Cue the video!

In a dimly lit room, tears streaming down her cheeks, the artist barely even knew what to do or say in response to the Trump victory.

“So, probably like most people – well, maybe not, because given the result -maybe I really am different and maybe a lot of people that I’m surrounded by think with open minds and open hearts like I do.

“And I do want to say that I’ve been very vocal for my support for everyone besides Donald Trump. Heavily supported Bernie. Heavily supported Hillary.

“And I still think that in her lifetime she deserves to be the first female president, and that’s what makes me so sad.”

Miley went on:

“I just wish that she had that opportunity. because she fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this country. This is all she’s ever done.

“She’s given her life to make it better.

“But, like Donald Trump so ironically played after his speech, it said, ‘You can’t always get what you want.’ And happy hippies, we adjust and we accept everyone for who they are. And so Donald Trump, I accept you.

“And this hurts to say, but I even accept you as the President of the United States, and that’s fine…because I think now I want to be hopeful.”

This is a similar message to the one Hillary Clinton gave in her concession speech and the one President Obama gave soon after.

“The day after, we have to remember that we are actually all on one team. This is an intramural scrimmage,” Obama said on the White House lawn this afternoon.

“We’re patriots first. We all want what’s best for this country. That’s what I heard in Mr. Trump’s remarks last night. That’s what I heard when I spoke to him directly. And I was heartened by that.”

Will Trump maintain the composure and humble attitude that he displayed in the following acceptance speech once he becomes President?

Or will he return to messages of hate and divisiveness?

It’s frightening, but it’s true: the world will find out very soon.
