The Voice Recap: Let the Battle Round Commence!

The Voice Battles are underway, ladies and gentlemen.

If you’re unfamiliar with the format, Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys select participants for a duel of sorts.

Selecting pairs from among their 12 team members, the celebrity mentors use a musical “battle” to decide who will stay in the competition.

Each coach can only pick one winner of each battle, but are also given two steals, with which to grab a defeated artist from another team.

Makes sense, right? Let’s get into it then!

With the help of advisers Sammy Hagar (Adam), Bette Midler (Blake), Charlie Puth (Alicia) and Joan Jett (Miley), the battles are underway.

The first of the night saw Team Alicia’s Christian Cuevas and Jason Warrior fight it out with a rendition of Adele’s smash hit song “Hello.”

Alicia chose Christian, but Adam moved in for the steal!

Speaking of Adam, his team members Natasha Bure and Riley Elmore were up next, and both suffered from a serious case of the nerves.

The singers performed “Cry Me A River” by Michael Buble, and Adam picked Riley, sending Candace Cameron-Bure’s teenage daughter home.

Ali Caldwell and Courtnie Ramirez from Team Miley were on tap next, and wow. Their battle on “Hit or Miss” by Odetta was so impressive.

After a tough deliberation, Ali got the nod and moved on to the Knockout Round (the subsequent, but not identical, elimination format).

Not surprisingly for Courtnie, though, she was very much in play, and bith Blake and Alicia both went in for the steal, with Keys winning.

Dan Shafer and Sundance Head of Team Blake were next up in a rocking rendition of the Bad Company classic, “Feel Like Making Love.”

Who felt the love after the fact?

Sundance rose above the competition and earned a ticket on, with Andrew DeMuro and Billy Gilman from Adam’s team next to battle.

The Maroon 5 frontman gave them a tough task in taking on Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror,” but they were largely up to the challenge.

Adam chose Billy to move on.

The final duet of the night was for a spot on Team Alicia: Lauren Diaz vs. We McDonald, belting out a rendition of Janis Joplin’s “Maybe.”

Alicia picks We, but it’s not over for Lauren, who chose Miley over Adam as both coaches tried desperately to steal her services.

The surviving members after night one of the battles, including the contestants who were stolen and crossed over to new teams:

Alicia: Christian Cuevas, Courtnie Ramirez, We McDonald

Adam: Jason Warrior, Riley Elmore, Billy Gilman

Miley: Ali Caldwell, Lauren Diaz

Blake: Sundance Head

The Real Housewives of New Jersey Recap: Teresa vs. Melissa, Round 127!

It was Christmas in July on The Real Housewives of New Jersey this week.

Literally.

Sort of.

The latest installment of this beloved Bravo franchise took fans way back to December, having filmed the ladies in full holiday spirit, preparing to ring in a new year.

Teresa had only been home for a short period of time, with things still a bit unsettled between her and Jacqueline Laurita.

But the latter found herself surprisingly filled with emotion while witnessing Giuidce’s attorney make a statement upon his client’s much-publicized return to her family.

As the lawyer noted that Teresa was “looking forward to a nice, quiet, low-key holiday with her family,” Laurita started to cry.

For real!

But does Giudice really want to be friends? This is what Jacqueline wondered to Dolores Catania.

“The door was slammed in my face,” she recalled with a sigh, seeming receptive to reopening it, however, if Teresa felt remotely the same way.

Then there was Melissa Gorga’s reaction to her sister-in-law no longer being behind bars.

And it led to another confrontation between these relatives and rivals.

Upon Teresa arriving for a Christmas Eve gathering at Melissa’s house, Gorga was unsure how things would transpire.

Much to Teresa’s brother’s fear, she followed Melissa into the kitchen to have a little discussing.

At first, our least favorite reality TV ex-con explained she simply wanted to get back to how they were when Melissa and Joe Gorga initially got hitched.

“I know how my brother is. He would love for us to be close,” Teresa said. “I want you to be like my sister.”

As those who watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey online regularly could have guessed, however, the niceties pretty much ended there.

Gorga was receptive to this offer, yet noted that she didn’t want Teresa to reach out only for her sibling’s sake.

“Sometimes I feel like it’s surface,” Melissa said of their awkward relationship. “Like we can’t really get there all the way.”

This clearly set something off in Teresa.

“Believe me, if you are genuine, I can feel it,” she snapped, prompting Gorga to reply that she loved Teresa like a sister.

“Then show it to me,” Teresa insisted.

“I do,” Melissa shot back.

And this is where the back-and-forth took an ugly turn, as Giudice brought up the christening, where things all started to go wrong… five years ago.

The quasi sisters continued to bring up past times that the other let them down, before eventually shaking and ending their argument on an amicable note.

Until next Sunday, we’re sure, at least.

Elsewhere this week:

Joe told Melissa that he doesn’t want her to work.

“I want you home. I didn’t want a part-time wife,” he said, just in case anything thought he was a feminist.

Melissa later told the camera that her husband was embarrassing her, while Joe didn’t see a need to stop.

I’m like a single parent,” he whined, commenting that his breasts were leaking. (Editor’s Note: EWWWWW!)

Joe Giudice was angry at his 14-year old daughter for wanting to spend time with her friends instead of her family members.

“She’s such a little pain in the ass with her and her friends,” Joe snapped about his child at one point.

Teresa thought her husband needed to “cool it” a bit, but did try to smooth things over with Gia by telling her to be home by midnight.

Gia, though, wasn’t having it. Which set her dad off even more.

“She’s got a lot of f-cking balls,” Joe said as Gia Giudice slammed the door.

Once again, however, this feud fizzled out before it reached a dangerous level, almost as if the entire thing was scripted.

Gia did make it home shortly after midnight and the gave her dad a huge hug.

“I love you,” she said through tears.

“You got to do the right thing while I’m not here,” Joe said, referencing his impending imprisonment.

Jeopardy Contestant Slams Liberals with Final Round Answer

Well, this is a new one.

We"ve shared numerous unexpected Jeopardy answers over the years, from the contestant who actually made Alex Trebek say Turd Ferguson to the guy who said Kinky Boots is the name of a Christian hymn.

But we can"t think of a previous example where a player lost the game… yet won over nearly every Republican in the country.

Such was the case last Friday when it came to Becky Sullivan, however.

Given the Final Jeopardy answer of "the flower pictured here is called this, also a disparaging term for people on the political left," Sullivan wagered all of her $ 6,000 and replied with the following:

What is a pansy.

Trebek laughed in response and noted: "You found a way to insult liberals in this country."

The answer did set her up pretty easily do to that, of course. And it also made her a hero among Conservatives on Twitter.

“Becky on jeopardy with the edgy final response taking shots at the liberals I love it,” wrote one user, while another added:

"what is a pansy" ON JEOPARDY I"M DYING OH MY GOODNESSSSSSS BURNNNN."

Sullivan is actually an NPR producer and Tweeted as an explanation for her reply:

"OK here"s the deal with pansy: I actually didn"t know bleeding heart was a flower. I just put the only flower I knew that was also an insult."

Ronda Rousey -- Carl"s Jr. Ready for Round Two ... After Record Sales

Z STAFF

EXCLUSIVE

0910_Ronda-Rousey_carls_jr_TMZRonda Rousey is crushing the fast food world about as quickly as she does MMA opponents — her sexy commercial has Carl’s Jr. grill jockeys slangin’ at near record levels.

Our sources over at Carl’s Jr. tell us Rousey’s spot for their Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast Sandwich boosted sales almost immediately. They didn’t want to give up specific numbers, but one source said the campaign “far exceeded” all goals.

The ad’s been running nationwide for less than 2 weeks, and we’re told it already has more than ONE BILLION media impressions. That puts Ronda in the same lofty neighborhood as the brand’s other sexy spokesbabes Paris HiltonKim Kardashian, and Kate Upton

Of course, Ronda could crush them all … at the same time. With one arm.
