Quentin Tarantino: I Did NOT Try to Kill Uma Thurman!

The Kill Bill films tell the story of one woman’s epic quest for revenge against a criminal organization presided over by an evil mastermind.

So we suppose it’s not surprising that when Uma Thurman decided to take on Harvey Weinstein and his Miramax minions, she likened herself to the vengeful heroine she portrayed.

But the movies are on Thurman’s mind these days for reasons that go beyond the obvious parallels between herself and her character.

Last week, the actress became the latest to come forward with allegations of sexual assault against Weinstein.

In a candid interview with Maureen Dowd of The New York Times, Thurman told an all-too-familiar tale of unwanted advances from Weinstein.

She also alleged that her longtime friend and collaborator Quentin Tarantino knowingly put her in mortal danger during the filming of Kill Bill Vol. 2.

According to Thurman, Tarantino coerced her into driving an antique car that had been reconfigured from a manual to an automatic for a scene in the film.

Thurman reluctantly agreed to do the stunt, crashed the car, and had to be taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Today, Tarantino is speaking out in response to charges that he knowingly put Thurman’s life at risk:

“It was heartbreaking,” the director said in an interview with Deadline.

“Beyond one of the biggest regrets of my career, it is one of the biggest regrets of my life. For a myriad of reasons.”

He added that the crash “affected me and Uma for the next two to three years. It wasn’t like we didn’t talk. But a trust was broken.”

Tarantino went on to claim that he intended to corroborate Thurman’s version of events in the Times piece, but was never afforded the opportunity:

“Part of my job on the piece was to do an interview with Maureen Dowd, and back up Uma’s claims,” he said.

“And we never hooked up. Me and Dowd never hooked up,” Tarantino added, claiming that he “ended up taking the hit and taking the heat.”

“I feel like I’ve been honest here and told the truth, and it feels really good after two days of misrepresentation, to be able to say it out loud. Whatever comes of it, I’ve said my piece. I’ve got big shoulders and I can handle it.”

The news comes at a time when Tarantino’s reputation has already been badly damaged by recent events.

The director’s current project is reportedly inspired by the Manson family and the 1969 murder of Sharon Tate, the wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski.

Controversy surrounding the project has led to the resurfacing of a 2003 interview in which Tarantino defends Polanski against statutory rape allegations.

Uma Thurman Recounts Being Attacked by Harvey Weinstein

It’s been a few months now since all the awful stories about Harvey Weinstein started pouring in …

And what a super depressing time it’s been.

Actress after actress has come forward to accuse Weinstein of everything from sexual harassment to sexual assault to rape, and though these stories have been coming out for so long now, we’ve yet to hear the end of it all.

We know that because today, Uma Thurman finally felt comfortable to reveal what Weinstein did to her.

A little bit of background: Uma has known Weinstein for years and years, ever since she starred in Pulp Fiction.

Back in November, she was asked about all the stories that had been coming out about him, and she explained to the reporter that she didn’t have a “tidy soundbite” prepared.

“I am not a child,” she said then, “and I have learned that when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself.”

“So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say.”

She definitely seemed angry then, and she seemed even angrier a few weeks later when she shared a message about Thanksgiving with her followers on Instagram.

After talking about being “grateful,” she wrote that “I feel it’s important to take your time, be fair, be exact, so… Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!”

“Except you Harvey, and all your wicked conspirators,” she added in parentheses. “I’m glad it’s going slowly — you don’t deserve a bullet.”

She advised everyone to “stay tuned,” and we have … and now in a new interview with the New York Times, she’s telling her story at long last.

To start, Uma explains that she began getting close to Harvey and his first wife after filming Pulp Fiction.

“I knew him pretty well before he attacked me,” she says. “He used to spend hours talking to me about material and complimenting my mind and validating me.”

“It possibly made me overlook warning signs.”

“This was my champion,” she continues. “I was never any kind of studio darling. He had a chokehold on the type of films and directors that were right for me.”

Later, she says that she had a meeting with him in a hotel room — unfortunately, you can probably tell where the story is going at this point.

As they were discussing a script, Harvey changed into a bathrobe, but Uma says that she “didn’t feel threatened,” that she “thought he was being super idiosyncratic, like this was your kooky, eccentric uncle.”

After that, he told her to follow him as he went to a different room, and he ended up leading her to a steam room.

“And I was standing there in my full black leather outfit — boots, pants, jacket. And it was so hot and I said, ‘This is ridiculous, what are you doing?"”

“And he was getting very flustered and mad and he jumped up and ran out,” she says.

Not too long after that, Uma says that she was meeting with Harvey in another hotel when he attacked her.

“It was such a bat to the head,” she recalls. “He pushed me down. He tried to shove himself on me. He tried to expose himself. He did all kinds of unpleasant things.”

“But he didn’t actually put his back into it and force me.”

She compares the experience to being “like an animal wriggling away, like a lizard.”

“I was doing anything I could to get the train back on the track. My track. Not his track.”

The next day, he sent her roses with a card that just read “You have great instincts.”

How horrifying is that?

She went back to the hotel to confront him about what happened, but she says that his assistants tried to pressure her to let it go and to focus on the upcoming film projects she was working on with Harvey.

After finally agreeing to meet with him one more time, she told him “If you do what you did to me to other people you will lose your career, your reputation and your family, I promise you.”

She says that that was the last thing she remembered of that night, but a friend of hers who’d gone with her to the hotel for support says that Uma stayed upstairs in Harvey’s room for a long time, and when she came back down “she was very disheveled and so upset and had this blank look.”

Harvey has already denied everything, beyond admitting that he did make an unsuccessful pass at Uma during that first hotel incident.

What a terrible story that just keeps getting worse, huh?

Uma Thurman Hits Out At Harvey Weinstein: You Don"t Deserve a Bullet!

Fans questioned earlier this month whether Uma Thurman was keeping tight-lipped about having story of her own to tell about Harvey Weinstein, and it looks like she does.

The Kill Bill actress took to Instagram to wish her fans a happy Thanksgiving and threw a whole lot of shade towards the disgraced movie mogul.

She shared a picture of her character, Beatrix Kiddo, from Kill Bill: Volume II.

It was not just any picture she shared. In fact, it was a still from the scene in which her character decided it was time to go on a mission of revenge against those who had wronged her.

The caption that accompanied the picture was just as scary.

Thurman wrote: “H A P P Y T H A N K S G I V I N G. I am grateful today, to be alive, for all those I love, and for all those who have the courage to stand up for others.

“I said I was angry recently, and I have a few reasons, #metoo, in case you couldn’t tell by the look on my face.

“I feel it’s important to take your time, be fair, be exact, so… Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! (Except you Harvey, and all your wicked conspirators – I’m glad it’s going slowly – you don’t deserve a bullet) -stay tuned.”

Harvey should probably be scared because it sure sounds like Thurman is ready to dole out some truths about him.

Uma previously spoke to Access Hollywood about a Broadway show she is starring in earlier this month and opened up about her thoughts on the scandal.

I think it’s commendable,” Uma began her statement on the matter.

“I have learned … I am not a child, and I have learned that when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself,” she said.

“So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say.”

While the statement sounds a little subdued, the video went viral across the internet because of the way Uma acted during the interview.

You could tell she was outraged, and it made viewers think she had some stories of her own to tell about Weinstein.

At the time, fans made it clear they would be with Thurman every step of the way if she decided to open up about what really happened.

“God once spoke through the burning bush,” one person wrote.

“This time it’s through Uma Thurman.” Another speculated that “If you haven’t seen this yet it seems Uma Thurman not only knows where the bodies are buried but has neatly organized all the shovels.”

“Ok let’s be real that Uma Thurman video — she’s getting a Hanzo sword made and is going to cut up the perverts isn’t she,” one person said.

What do you think about all of this?

Sound off below.

Uma Thurman: See Her INCREDIBLE Statement on Harvey Weinstein Scandal

For the past month or so, ever since a powerful piece was published in the New York Times, we"ve been talking an awful lot about Harvey Weinstein.

And that"s because dozens and dozens of women have come forward to accuse Harvey of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape.

A-listers like Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow have spoken out against Weinstein, and actresses like Rose McGowan and Paz de la Huerta have claimed that he raped them.

These are just a few examples of the women who have told their stories.

And now it"s Uma Thurman"s turn … well, almost.

In an amazing little clip that"s gone viral this weekend, Uma spoke to Access Hollywood at a press event for a Broadway show she"s starring in called The Parisian Woman.

The reporter asked her, as "a powerful woman in film," what she thought about "women speaking out about inappropriate behavior in the work place."

While she"s being asked this, you can sort of see the rage build up — it"s pretty intense, to say the least.

"I think it"s commendable," Uma began, then she paused for a moment before telling the reporter that she didn"t have "a tidy soundbite" for her.

"I have learned … I am not a child, and I have learned that when I"ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself," she said.

"So I"ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I"m ready, I"ll say what I have to say."

It sounds like a pretty tame statement, seeing it in text, but you have to watch the way she delivers it — it"s clear that she really is very, very angry, and that she definitely has a story of her own to tell.

It makes sense that her story would be about Weinstein, too — he"s acted as producer on several films of hers, including Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill movies.

And it also makes sense that people really want to hear her story, because really, she just sounds furious even when alluding to it.

Actress Asia Argento, one of those many women who have accused Weinstein of sexual assault, tweeted this video of Uma, and she wrote "Dear #UmaThurman may peace be with you and your soul. We need your strong voice, it truly is commanding."

The rest of Twitter loved Uma"s statement just as much.

"God once spoke through the burning bush," one person wrote. "This time it"s through Uma Thurman."

Another speculated that "If you haven"t seen this yet it seems Uma Thurman not only knows where the bodies are buried, but has neatly organized all the shovels."

"Ok let"s be real that Uma Thurman video — she"s getting a Hanzo sword made and is going to cut up the perverts isn"t she," one person said.

And hey, if she did, would anyone be surprised?

Check out Uma being completely amazing in the video below:
