Andrea Constand: Bill Cosby Accuser Breaks Silence After Mistrial!
To the world’s horror, Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial ended in a mistrial, thanks to a deadlocked jury.
Like, surely even Cosby’s lingering supporters were hoping for an acquittal, as if that would exonerate him by association from his 57 other accusers.
The woman whose police report forced him into a courtroom, Andrea Constand, is finally speaking out.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love & kindness & support,” she shared over Twitter.
Honestly, she was a lot more graceful and diplomatic than we would have been in her shoes.
We’d have been directing our ire at Cosby, at society, and whichever juror or, worse, jurors prevented that jury from reaching a verdict.
Instead, she just expressed how much people’s support means to her.
“I am eternally grateful for the messages I have received in recent days.”
Andrea Constand is handling this with so much grace.
Honestly, we can’t imagine the strength of character required to go public about a celebrity with Cosby’s (now former) reputation.
If we were in her shoes and she put herself through reliving this nightmare for a trial only to have at least one juror unconvinced, we’d be posting a six-hour rant on YouTube that would only end when we’d had too much to drink to carry on.
What else can you do in the face of massive injustice?
The middle ground response would just be to say nothing and binge Law & Order instead, but so-called experts claim that “that isn’t therapy” and “isn’t a healthy coping mechanism.”
But maybe one of the things helping Andrea Constand keep it together is the knowledge that the prosecutors intend to retry Cosby.
Most of Cosby’s alleged victims — the ones we know about, anyway — won’t ever get to see their day in court.
This is because of the statute of limitations.
We can’t explain to you why any place would have a statute of limitations on sexual assault.
Except for the obvious — when men have been the ones writing laws for centuries.
In some parts of the US, that limit is as little as 5 years. It’s absurd.
So there’s a lot riding on the trial over Andrea Constand’s assault.
The retrial gives a lot of people hope — likely Andrea Constand included.
Then again, Cosby still has supporters like Keshia Knight Pulliam who insist that the man they know would never do this.
Constand has probably had her doubts about the trial’s success all along.
You don’t want to get your hopes up, right?
And there’s always a chance that Cosby could go through a dozen trials and always have one juror who’s an absolute holdout against conviction.
Celebrity status is a powerful thing.
And so is rape culture.

Andrea Tantaros Blasts Fox News as "Sex-Fueled, Playboy Mansion-Like Cult"
Come on, Andrea Tantaros.
Tell us how you really feel about Fox News!
A former Fox News host, Tantaros filed a lawsuit in Manhattan State Supreme Court on Monday, naming former network chief Roger Ailes and other top executives as defendants.
She states in scathing, specific terms that Ailes sexually harassed her during her tenure on the network.
Ailes resigned from his post this summer after Gretchen Carlson also accused him of very inappropriate behavior.
In her legal documents, Tantaros holds nothing back when assessing what life was like as a Fox News employee.
“Fox News masquerades as a defender of traditional family values, but behind the scenes, it operates like a sex-fueled, Playboy Mansion-like cult, steeped in intimidation, indecency and misogyny,” Tantaros charges in the suit.
Pretty damning, huh?
Last month, it came out that prized anchor Megyn Kelly had also accused Ailes of sexual harassment.
Tantaros explains that her complaint is not just about Ailes but that “it also gives life to the saying that ‘the fish stinks from the head."”
Meaning what, exactly?
“For Ailes did not act alone,” Tantaros said, adding:
“He may have been the primary culprit, but his actions were condoned by most senior lieutenants, who engaged in a concerted effort to silence Tantaros by threats, humiliation, and retaliation.”
She also names William Shine in the lawsuit; he was named co-president of Fox News after Ailes resigned a few weeks ago.
Tantaros’ legal battles with Fox Corp. started last winter when the network said she had breached her employment contract by authoring a book without first receiving company clearance.
Fox has said she has made up these sexual harassment allegations as a way to distract from that previous contract dispute.
However, Tantaros says it’s actually the opposite: in her complaint, she accuses Fox executives of using the dispute over the book to try to silence her sexual harassment claims.
What sort of “demeaning conduct” does Tantaros say she was subjected to?
Having to strip in front of Fox News wardrobe personnel when she picked her on-air clothing, for starters.
She says her job “devolved into a nightmare of sexual harassment” by Ailes (pictured above and below) in the summer of 2014.
According to Tantaros, Ailes once asked her twice to “turn around so I can get a good look at you,” adding, on one occasion, “come over here so I can give you a hug.”
Along similar lines, Carlson says Ailes once told her that the two of them “should have had a sexual relationship.”
She then claims the former Fox Corp. Chairman punished her at work after she refused his advances.
Tantaros says that when she complained about the harassment to Shine in the spring of 2015, he told her Ailes was “a very powerful man” and that Tantaros “needed to let this one go.”
If what she is saying here is true, then kudos to Tantaros for not taking this advice.
In related news: Roger Ailes is now serving as a contibutor on Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign.

Bill Cosby Sues Sexual Assault Accuser Andrea Constand
After months of public scandal and dozens of damning accusations, Bill Cosby is finally facing criminal charges following a Philadelphia DA’s investigation into testimony that Cosby delivered during a 2005 civil suit.
During the trial – in which the television icon was being sued by alleged victim Andrea Constand – Cosby admitted to drugging women with the intention of raping them, but stopped just short of confessing to sexual assault.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cosby has secretively filed a lawsuit against Constand, the exact details of which are not yet publicly available.
Most likely, the suit alleges that Constand somehow violated the terms of her decade-old settlement agreement with Cosby, for which she received an undisclosed sum.
The 78-year-old has avoided prosecution in connection with scores of other accusations, but Cosby was arrested on the basis of Constand’s claims after the case was re-opened and charges were filed just days before the statute of limitations expired.
Now, attorneys for Cosby are likely trying to prove that the DA who went ahead with the investigation had no right to do so under the terms of his original settlement agreement with Constand.
It’s already been determined that Cosby’s criminal case will go to trial, after a judge dismissed his lawyer’s motion to dismiss.
