Chester Bennington Suicide: Did He Mimic Chris Cornell?

A few new details have emerged when it comes to Chester Bennington’s suicide.

As previously and tragically reported, the 41-year old Linkin Park singer killed himself on Thursday morning.

His body was discovered at his home in California around 9 a.m., with authorities determining Bennington died via hanging.

Famous for such hits as “Crawling,” “One Step Closer,” and “In the End,” Bennington and his Linkin Park bandmates put out one of the most popular albums in alternative rock history with “Meteora” in 2003.

The group won two Grammy Awards and sold over 70 million albums during its run.

But no amount of success could help Bennington overcome his demons.

He talked in the past about a drug addiction and depression that was linked to sexual abuse he suffered as a child.

It’s unknown at the moment whether any drugs were in Bennington’s system at the time of his death; nor can we know for sure what was on his mind when he made this fateful decision.

However, TMZ has provided a few tidbits about Bennington’s suicide that have left and wondering whether he was trying to mimic the suicide of close friend Chris Cornell.

(The Soundgarden frontman also killed himself this year; in May; at the age of 52.)

For example, Bennington’s corpse was discovered hanging from a door separating his bedroom from his closet.

As THG and other outlets reported a couple months ago, Cornell died in a Detroit hotel room… with his body hanging from a hotel door that separated the bedroom from the bathroom.

Bennington tied a belt around his neck, while Cornell used an exercise band to complete his final act.

Neither artist left a suicide note.

Insiders also tell TMZ that an empty bottle of alcohol was in the room where Bennington died, but there was no evidence of drug use.

Finally, and perhaps most tellingly, Bennington killed himself on what would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.

Again, we can’t possibly know what was going through Bennington’s mind when he chose to take his own life.

That’s one of the most scarring and disturbing things about suicide.

But he and Cornell were very close, with Bennington even singing at his late pal’s funeral this spring.

After Cornell was found dead, Bennington wrote the following letter to his friend:

I dreamt about the Beatles last night. I woke up with Rocky Raccoon playing in my head and a concerned look my wife’s face. She told me my friend had just passed away.

Thoughts of you flooded my mind and I wept.

I’m still weeping, with sadness, as well as gratitude for having shared some very special moments with you and your beautiful family. You have inspired me in many ways you could never have known.

Your talent was pure and unrivalled. your voice was joy and pain, anger and forgiveness, love and heartache all wrapped up into one. I suppose that’s what we all are. You helped me understand that.

I just watched a video oof you singing “A Day In The Life” by the Beatles and thought of my dream. I’d like to think you were saying goodbye in your own way. I can’t imagine a world without you in it.

I pray you find peace in the next life. I send my love to your wife and children, friends and family.

We hope both these talented musicians have found the peace in heaven that they could not find on Earth.

May they rest in peace.

Chester Bennington of the rock group Linkin Park has passed away at the age of 41.

TMZ is reporting that the death has been ruled a suicide by hanging.

Bennington’s body was found at his home Thursday morning around 9 am.

At the height of the group’s fame, Linkin Park was one of the most popular acts in music.

The band’s 2000 debut album Hybrid Theory achieved diamond sales status on the strength of such wildly popular singles as “Crawling,” “One Step Closer,” and “In the End.”

Bennington and his bandmates went on to even greater success with their 2003 sophomore effort, Meteora, which remains the most popular album in the history of Billboard‘s alternative chart.

Along with co-frontman Mike Shinoda, Bennington was one of the two voices of Linkin Park.

The band sold an astonishing 70 million albums worldwide and won two Grammy awards.

While details of Bennington’s final hours remain scarce, sources close to the singer note that he has struggled with addiction and depression over the years.

Bennington himself stated that he had considered taking his own life as a result of sexual abuse he suffered as a child.

Bennington was close friends with Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, who committed suicide following a performance in Detroit back in May.

Bennington performed at Cornell’s funeral service at the request of the singer’s widow.

As a solo artist, Bennington’s unique vocal stylings made him a sought after collaborator.

Over the course of his 20-year career, Bennington recorded with such artists as Cornell, Jay-Z, Santana, Motley Crue, DJ Z-Trip and Handsome Boy Modeling School.

The singer was known for his ability to cross genres, moving seamlessly between hard rock, hip hop, and electronic music.

Tributes to Bennington from friends and fans began pouring in on social media within minutes of the news of his death going public.

Many encourage those who might be struggling with thoughts of self-harm to contact the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.

Paris Jackson & Chester Castellaw: It"s Over!

Back in October it was widely rumored that Paris Jackson and Chester Castellaw had gotten married.

Thankfully, the teens never took that leap (as far as we know), and Radar Online is now reporting that Paris and Chester have broken up after less than a year of dating.

“Paris broke up with Chester about three weeks ago and they are not on speaking terms right now,” says one insider.

Paris’ family is said to be happy about the breakup, as they believed she and Chester were moving too fast.

No cause for the split has been given, but sources say it was Paris who kicked Chester to the curb, and the breakup was an ugly one.

The rumors about the couple getting married have been debunked, but several sources have confirmed that Paris and Chester were engaged at one point.

So the split was messy, but it could’ve been much messier. Sounds like Paris dodged a bullet on that one.

The girl is 17 years old and insanely wealthy. She can pretty much literally do whatever she wants with her life.

Settling down now would be like…well, like settling down when you’re a wealthy teenager with your whole life ahead of you.

What we’re saying is – you made the right call, Paris.

Paris Jackson: MARRIED to Chester Castellaw?!

It’s been a strange week for the Jackson family. Yesterday, Prince Jackson admitted Michael might not be his father, which seemed to be his way of confirming that family friend Dr. Arnold Klein is his biological dad.

In an odd turn of events, Klein passed away unexpectedly this morning. Despite that drama that’s straight out of the most far-fetched soap opera on daytime TV, the Internet is really buzzing about Prince’s younger sister, Paris:

Back in March, there were rumors that 17-year-old Paris got engaged to Chester Castellaw, her boyfriend of only a few months.

Then, earlier this week, Paris added fuel to the gossip fire by changing her Instagram name to Paris Jackson-Castellaw.

Not surprisingly, the Internet flipped its collective shiz.

Fortunately, Paris’ legal guardians – her grandmother and her cousin TJ Jackson – have denied the marriage rumors, and since she would need their consent to legally tie the knot, they probably know what they’re talking about.

Still, we hope someone in her inner circle is advising that even thinking about marriage at her age is legitimately insane.

We can only hope that if she does (foolishly) make it legal with Chester, she gets him to sign the most iron-clad prenup in the history of Hollywood.
