Coldplay to Perform at Halftime of Super Bowl 50

The NFL will celebrate an epic milestone on February 7, 2016.

And it will do so with an epically boring selection of halftime performers.

According to Us Weekly insiders, the league has chosen Coldplay to take to the stage midway through Super Bowl 50 next year.

The British rock band – which consists of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion – is an unexpected choice, considering their song catalog is not exactly filled with up-tempo jams.

The magazine does add that Bruno Mars (who kicked serious booty in 2013 at the Super Bowl) will also be involved in the show in some way, shape or form; as will other “friends of the group.”

Despite previous reports, neither Maroon 5 nor Taylor Swift will take part in the show.

What do you think? Are you excited for Coldplay to perform at Super Bowl 50?

Recent Super Bowl halftime acts have included Katy Perry, Mars, Madonna, and Beyonce, who recently collaborated with Coldplay for the song “Hymn for the Weekend.”

So maybe she’ll make a cameo!

Or Gwyneth Paltrow!

A website can hope, can’t it? Anything to make this uninspired selection a little more… inspired.

Coldplay’s seventh and allegedly finale studio album, A Head Full of Dreams, just went on sale this past Friday.

Blue Ivy Carter to Make Musical Debut on Upcoming Coldplay Album!

Blue Ivy Carter may not be able to tie her own shoes, but she already leads one of the most baller existences on the planet.

Blue Ivy’s vacation photos could make Anthony Bourdain weep.

The girl gets custom-made clothes from the world’s biggest designers, then probably passes them on to her entourage when she outgrows them in a week.

She’s even got her first rap feud under her belt, thanks to Chris Brown’s claim that Royalty is the cutest of all the hip hop babies.

Obviously talent is no longer a requirement for being a celebrity (We’re looking at you, Kylie Jenner!), but Blue is making sure that she secures her spot as a future A-lister by becoming a more in-demand guest vocalist for top-selling artists than Nate Dogg was in his prime.

Okay, she’s hasn’t come that far quite yet, but Blue will be making her singing debut on Coldplay’s seventh studio album, due out next month.

Lead singer Chris Martin says it all started when the band brought in Beyonce for some cameo vocals on a track called “Hymn for the Weekend.”

Blue accompanied Bey in the studio, and naturally, the band couldn’t resist having her coo a few bars.

The album also features guest performances from Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as his current girlfriend Annabelle Wallis, because apparently, this record is some sort of social experiment in which Chris Martin attempts to find out how awkward he can make his life.

Hey, it might’ve been weird to make, but we’re sure it’ll go multi-platinum.

Coldplay Pays Tribute to Paris Attack Victims

Coldplay has paid homage to the victims of Friday"s heinous terrorist attacks in Paris, France.

The band was scheduled to do a livestream of new tracks from its upcoming album (“A Head Full of Dreams”) late last week.

However, following the devastating attacks abroad, Chris Martin and company opted instead to turn the show into an emotional dedication for the victims.

"Tonight"s live stream for TIDAL & KROQ has been postponed out of respect for the terrible events in Paris," the group wrote on its website.

"We"ll play a short set of old material so that yourjourney isn"t wasted. We send our love and prayers to the people of Paris."

Coldplay, of course, is referencing the mass shootings in Paris on Friday, as multiple terrorists coordinated an attack that killed over 130 people.

With these victims and their loved ones in mind, Martin and the rest of Coldplay held a moment of silence prior to kicking off the short show with a beautiful cover of John Lennon"s "Imagine," sending a powerful message of peace to all viewers.

Along similar lines over the weekend, John Oliver went viral with his rant against the terrorists, while Saturday Night Live paid homage via a unique speech from Cecily Strong and Madonna gave an impassioned speech on stage.

Follow the proceeding link to see how other celebrities reacted to the horrible events in France and leave your own comments on the situation below.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and everyone affected by this awful situation.
