Duggar Family at War With Gay Cousin Over New Reality Show
The Duggars, as you’re likely aware, are a deeply conservative lot.
The core group of 21 who make up the Duggar clan that was first immortalized on 19 Kids and Counting have contended with friends and relatives who don’t share their fundamentalist beliefs, and they’ve typically been quick to “deal with” these associates.
Michelle Duggar’s lesbian sister, for example, has been cut off from the rest of the family and has never even met most of her nieces and nephews.
They similarly exiled rebellious cousin Amy Duggar, who’s dared to commit such affronts as kissing her fiancé before marriage and wearing an actual swimsuit to go swimming, rather than a modesty-preserving barrel with suspenders.
Now, the Duggars are facing yet another enemy in their midst.
And this one is hoping to beat Jim Bob and company at their own game.
As we reported earlier, John Andrew Studdard is an openly gay cousin of Jim Bob and Michelle’s children.
Unlike so many of the Duggars’ relatives, he seems to have no fear of his wealthy and powerful aunt and uncle.
Studdard has spoken out against Derick Dillard’s homophobic remarks, and now it appears he’s hoping to enter the Duggars’ arena with a reality show of his own.
And not surprisingly, the Duggars are very much hoping that doesn’t happen.
“The producers were hoping to do a show with his immediate family, but all of his immediate family declined,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.
“They think it’s tacky that John Andrew spoke out about Derick’s beliefs and have warned him if he speaks out publicly again he will be cut off financially.”
But those who know Studdard best say that his main goal is not to simply trash his famous relatives:
“He wants to show his life with his friends and the volunteer work he’s passionate about,” the insider said.
“He wants to build a platform to spread awareness for causes. He wants to build an empire bigger than his distant cousins.”
Surprisingly, it seems Studdard actually feels compassion for his famous cousins – and he wishes they would follow his lead by showing more empathy toward others:
“He doesn’t think they’re bad people,” the insider says.
“He spoke out against Derick because he wanted him to be considerate of others. His comments were very harsh. He doesn’t know him well enough to say he’s a bad person. He was so kind at his wedding to Jill.”
Studdard may have a hard time landing a deal for a show where he presents a counter-argument to his relatives’ worldview, but here’s hoping he finds a way to get his message out there.
It would certainly help to shake things up in Tontitown.

Rihanna Mourns Cousin, Calls for End to Gun Violence
Tragedy has struck Rihanna and her family.
The singer took to Instagram on Tuesday night and passed along the sad news that her cousin had been murdered in Barbados.
Only 21 years old, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was shot and killed while spending time in Rihanna’s native country.
In tribute to her late loved one, Rihanna wrote the following on her social media account.
“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms!” Rihanna captioned a slideshow of four photos with Alleyne.
She added:
“Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! #endgunviolence.”
While followers have expressed their condolences to Rihanna and passed along their sympathies online, many have also focused on the hashtag she included.
End. Gun. Violence.
This is probably as contentious of an issue as exists in America right now.
Heck, the same day Rihanna shared this post, Teen Mom 2 star Jeremy Calvert received both backlash and compliments for gifting his four-year old daughter with a rifle.
Some folks are aghast that any father would do such a thing…
… while others think Calvert was acting responsibly by teaching his child gun safety at a young age.
In other words: gun violence is a complicated issue.
Rihanna has been applauded by some for her call to action above, while others have wondered what steps she is referring to, exactly.
As for the specifics of what happened with her cousin:
According to local reports, Alleyne was simply walking near his residence in Lake Close, Eden Lodge, St. Michael, around 7 p.m. when he was approached by a man who shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The victim was then rushed to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.
Authorities in Barbados have launched an investigation.
It’s a tragedy.
In February, Alleyne posted a special message to Rihanna in honor of her birthday.
“Every day we are happy to have you in our lives,” he wrote at the time, adding:
“Happy Birthday cousin, we really love you. Your presence in my life is a source of joy and happiness. To my favorite cousin, may all your dreams and wishes come true.
“#LoveYouLoads #wishyoumanymoretocome.”
May he rest in peace.

Ember Roloff Visits the Farm, Hangs with Cousin, Is Living the Life
We’re very happy to see that Ember Roloff isn’t letting recent criticism of her outfit get her down.
Quite the opposite, in fact, as the five-week old appears in a new trio of social media photos that makes it clear she’s simply having a tremendous time these days.
Parents Jeremy and Audrey Roloff just took their daughter to their family’s farm for the first time, posting a couple photos from the adventure on Instagram and Facebook.
“We’re showing Ember around the farm. I don’t think she’s paying attention though…” the proud father wrote as a funny caption to the image down below, while Audrey got a tad more profound in her caption.
“October is my favorite color,” Audrey penned to open a lengthy message she attached to the picture above.
The Little People, Big World star went on to explain what she means:
“It’s always been such a beautiful, exciting, nostalgic, time of the year for Jer and I – it’s when I said “I love you” for the first time, it meant I got to see Jer every weekend when we were long distance, and we have so many sweet memories working in the pumpkin patch together.
“It always amazes me how the farm comes alive during pumpkin season, and it’s so fun to meet people who come out from all over the world!
“I’ve been missing working in the pumpkin patch this year, but I can’t wait for Ember to experience all the joys of pumpkin season next year!
“For now, we are just popping in every now and then to say hi.”
We’re just glad Audrey is out and about with her little one.
We know she’s been struggling a bit as a new mother, which is totally understandable.
It can take a long time to adjust to parenthood, and that’s without even considering the unfortunate health concern of Audrey’s; she’s been diagnosed with mastitis, which means it hurts (A LOT) when she breastfeeds.
When you then think about how little sleep she must be getting, it’s a miracle she’s even up and around, able to take a stroll through the farm.
Fortunately, Audrey has a supportive husband at home and Ember has a precious fellow baby in the family with whom she can snuggle:
“The cousins are getting along just fine…” Jeremy captioned this Facebook photo of Ember and Jackson, the latter of whom was born to Tori and Zach Roloff in May.
This is the second time we’ve cooed and smiled over a snapshot of the youngest Roloffs.
All members of this popular family will be featured on new episodes of Little People, Big World, which are expected to air prior to the calendar flipping to 2018.
But TLC is yet to announce a premiere date.
We’ll let fans know as soon as this happens.
