"Fixer Upper" Stars Chip & Joanna Gaines" Ultrasound Reveals Potentially Serious Problem

Joanna Gaines: Pregnant with FIFTH Child!

Fixer Upper?

More like Fixer Up…Her? Or Him?

In other, far less confusing words: Chip and Joanna Gaines are expecting their fifth child!!!!!!

The beloved HGTV personalities announced this major news via Instagram on Tuesday night, taking followers by surprise via a cute picture and unexpected announcement.

“Gaines party of 7.. (If you’re still confused.. WE ARE PREGNANT) @joannagaines,” Chip wrote as a caption to the following snapshot, which features Joanna cradling his fake baby bump while she shows her actual baby bump under a grey sweater.

Check out the cute image here:

The couple is already parents to kids, Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7.

They are sometimes featured on Fixer Upper, which continues to rate as HGTV’s most-watched program, but never overtly so.

Chip and Joanna have always done a solid job of giving viewers a glimpse at their family life, but never really exposing their children to the spotlight in any real manner.

“Congrats @joannagaines & @chipgaines! We can’t wait to meet #BabyGaines. #FixerUpper #GrowingUpGaines,” TLC Tweeted in response to the news, which the stars teased the day before.

Along with a gorgeous photo of the sky and the water, Joanna penned the followong on Instagram:

New year, new hope… Be expectant. There is just something about fresh faith and unwavering trust that brings life to our souls. May this be your best year yet.

We’re so very happy for these two.

New episodes of Fixer Upper kicked off in November, but this excitement has been tempered by the fact that this will be the show’s final season.

There was talk that Chip and Joanna were pulling the plug on their popular show as some kind of contract negotiation ploy… but now we know better.

Now those cynics ought to be ashamed.

The couple was simply planning to expand their family and knew Joanna, at least, would need some time off in the new year.

“We had four babies right before the show started, and then we’ve had zero babies since the show started,” Chip told Houston ABC affiliate KTRK late last year, adding at the time:

“For me, I’m really excited to go back and try to maybe . . . try to make some more babies.”

He’s talking about sex, people.

Shortly before making this statement, Chip and Joanna filmed their final Fixer Upper episode.

In a sentimental Instagram post, Joanna wrote: “Today was the final reveal… We definitely felt the emotion behind each of those steps leading up to the big canvas. We love you Fixer Upper.”

This statement followed a joint statement released by the stars in light of their decision to end the show.

“We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause,” the Gaines said in early November, concluding:

“Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger…

“This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.

“Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

We wish them the best.

Joanna Gaines Bids Sad Farewell to Fixer Upper

The final season of Fixer Upper is yet to begin.

And yet the final season of Fixer Upper is also over for Chip and Joanna Gaines.

The beloved HGTV stars have completed filming new episodes of their network’s highest-rated series, wrapping up the finale this past weekend.

In response to her last time showing a couple just what she and her husband did to improve their home, Joanna shared the following image and caption.

“Today was the final reveal… We definitely felt the emotion behind each of those steps leading up to the big canvas. We love you Fixer Upper. Season premiers on November 21.”

Gaines added the hashtag #savedthebestseasonforlast.

In late September, Chip and Joanna surprised fans when they announced Fixer Upper was coming to an end.

Ratings remain very strong and we’re sure HGTV executives wanted the couple to continue on as hosts… but they just needed a break.

“We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause,” said the parents of four at the time, adding by way of explanation:

“Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger…

“This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.

“Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

It’s not as though Chip and Joanna will be receding much from the spotlight, even after Fixer Upper is no longer on the air.

They just signed a clothing line deal with Target and Chip just came out with a memoir.

Yes, removing shooting obligations enables the stars to spend more time at home with their children (Drake, 12; Ella, 11; Duke, 9; and Emmie Kay, 7) – but these are two very busy and successful people.

They will remain busy and successful for many years to come.

“We really don’t know [if this is the end of us on TV]. I feel hopeful for whatever it is,” Joanna told People Magazine a few weeks ago.

She continued:

“We have a real-life business on the ground in Waco, Texas, and we are opening a restaurant in January and February.

“There are lot of things, we just got to get on the ground and be a really big part of that as these things are kind of still going.”

We can confirm that the final season of Fixer Upper – the best one EVER, apparently – will be comprised of 19 episodes.

And we can also confirm that we’ll be watching each and every one of them.

We love you, Chip and Joanna!

Chip and Joanna Gaines FINALLY Address Rumors of Marital Troubles!

Fixer Upper is extremely popular, and so are its stars — Chip and Joanna Gaines. Which is why it"s so surprising that Fixer Upper is ending while it"s still going so strong.

Are we, as a society, so accustomed to shows jumping the shark that we can"t conceive of a show deliberately ending on a high note? Or is there something going on behind the scenes? Like, say, relationship trouble between Chip and Joanna?

Well, in the video below, the Fixer Upper couple is finally giving in to demands for answers.

As you"ll see in the video, Joanna and Chip Gaines finally cave and spoke to E! about the questions and rumors about their relationship and how it may have influenced their decision to end their show while it"s going strong.

And they"re denying everything, basically.

Chip expressed surprise, as he"d imagined that the news that the two of them were done with Fixer Upper would inspire fans to wonder what they were doing next.

That is … adorably naive.

Humans like puzzles and we like believable narratives and reasons that we can understand. "We quit our successful show because it was time" doesn"t strike most people as plausible.

Chip continues:

"It"s just the rumor mill — I think — surprised us a little bit."

You know … he might be telling the truth. Maybe they never expected the public to, right or wrong, guess that they were having issues.

But he says that he understands that they"re famous and that all of this goes with the territory.

"When you put yourself out in the public light like this, people are going to speculate like this and we have had our fair share of that, but Jo and I are just as happy as we have ever been."

There has to be something going on, right?

Joanna speaks up and acknowledges that fans have good reason to ask the questions that they"ve been asking, however:

"I think it seems weird to kind of leave on a high note. I think for people, there has got to be a negative reason to that. I think that is not always how life has to be."

Maybe, but that"s how life usually is.

Shows either stay good over long stretches, get better over time, get worse over time, or were terrible to start with. Otherwise, there"s something else going on.

"I think for us we felt that season five was just the perfect end to this beautiful chapter, but really the why is time, you know?"

So, basically, they just felt like not doing it anymore. That"s what she"s claiming.

"Unfortunately, I don"t think if they came back and offered a billion dollars that we would step back at this point."

Obviously, she"s relying upon the absurdity of that hypothetical scenario. Plenty of people would commit murder for a billion dollars.

"We are pretty headstrong and when we feel like it is the right decision for our relationship, for our family, for our business, it would take an act of congress to knock us off that position."

That"s a weird way of phrasing that, but whatever.

You know, depending upon rights ownership issues to which we aren"t privy, the network could always try to make it work under the same name.

A show called Fixer Uppers could be about, we dunno, interventions for people who take a lot of stimulants.

Or, with a tweak, Fixer Puppers could be about a veterinarian.

But it"s clear that the Gaines-es want us to be focusing on what they"re going to do next, professionally speaking.

That"s what we gather from Chip"s words, anyway. So … what exactly will they do next? We have no idea.

Joanna and Chip Gaines: It"s Over!*

* Professionally, that is.

With Chip Gaines having just released a new book, the HGTV star and his beloved wife have been sitting for a number of promotional interviews this week.

Plenty has been revealed in these segments, but perhaps the most intriguing tidbit of all is Chip’s admission that he’d be open to a return to television.

Under one condition, that is: Joanna isn’t invited!

Asked by Daily Pop host Justin Sylvester whether he could envision himself starring on another series down the line, Chip said the following:

“It would have to be a show where it would be me, just all by myself – that could be a thing that I would be interested in.”

He may have been joking, but he may also just be interested in branching out a bit.

Chip and Joanna shocked and saddened fans this month when they announced Fixer Upper was coming to an end after Season 5.

Asked about that decision in this interview, Joanna referenced her four children and stated:

“Our kids are getting older for us and time seems to be slipping away faster, so I think we wanted to take a step back and get refreshed and focus on what’s next for us.”

The stars are parents to Drake, 12; Ella, 11; Duke, 9 and Emmie Kay, 7.

In addition to Fixer Upper, which is HGTV’s top-rated program, the twosome have quite an empire.

There’s the home improvement business… their Magnolia Market store… their magazine, The Magnolia Journal … and retail collaborations, including a partnership with Target.

There have also been rumors of relationship tension between Chip and Joanna because the Internet can’t help but speculate on the status of famous couples.

And while Chip has shot down such chatter in the past, he actually gave it a “little credence” in speaking with The Today Show on Tuesday.

“For us, the most important thing in the world is Jo and I’s relationship, followed very quickly by these four beautiful kids [of ours],” he said, adding:

“We didn’t want to push it, to redline it for so long that we woke up and realized we are at a point of no return.

“We wanted to take a step back and focus on what is absolutely the most important thing to us.”

The Capital Gaines author continued:

“People in our inner circle, I tell them we’re as healthy as we’ve ever been. I just didn’t want to keep pushing this envelope to the fullest extent.

“We’re really thankful that we had the opportunity to step back and take a break.”

Things certainly do sound fine and dandy between the parents of four.

Consider Joanna’s caption to a new Instagram photo of herself, her husband and his book:

This guy right here… I get to live life with him. I get to hear his thoughts and benefit from his wisdom and encouragement on a daily basis.

The reason I am who I am today is because Chip pushed me to go for it. People think of him as a jokester, and he is. It’s a huge part of why I fell in love with him in the first place.

But he is so much more than that.

He is the ultimate cheerleader, coach and dream maker. I am so thrilled that his book releases today mostly because I believe it holds truth that the world is in desperate need of. I am always proud to be Chip’s wife but today more than ever. I know this book was a true labor of love.

Well done, Chip Carter Gaines!

Yeah. It’s safe to say these two are happy.

Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines: Relationship Problems Revealed!

Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines have accomplished the near impossible.

The married HGTV stars have managed to remain starkly in the spotlight for years… without almost any divorce chatter ever making its way around the Internet.

The parents of four will soon embark on what they’ve announced will be their final season of mega hit Fixer Upper and are generally considered one of the most loved couples on all of television.

Whereas starring roles on reality TV programs have driven other twosomes apart, the chemistry between Chip and Joanna has only intensfied over the years.

But this wasn’t always the case.

In his new memoir, “Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff,” Gaines says his romance with Joanna was nearly over before it really began.

About six months into their relationship, Chip says he went to Mexico for 90 days to learn Spanish.

His then-girlfriend was placed in charge of his businesses* while he was away… and this caused a major problem.

(*Yes, Chip started a number of businesses before he settled on home renovation and real estate. Click on the slideshow below to find out more.)

“Your business is a joke!” she yelled, Chip admits in his book about a phone call they had just weeks after he left.

“All these people are coming to my dad’s shop demanding to be paid, and there’s no money. Lucky for you, your sad is bailing your sorry butt out. You have three days to get back to Texas or this relationship is over.”

Chip says the tone she used made it clear Joanna was dead serious.

“My heart broke,” he wrote, adding in the book:

“There are hard moments in life when you see yourself for the tonto that you are. This all felt so much bigger than a few bounced checks.

“Up until that moment, Jo had really respected me and the work that I did.”

So Chip rushed home to Texas and nearly proposed then and there.

He knew he couldn’t lose Joanna and he respected how straightforward she was acting when it came both to his business and to their relationship.

Today? No marriage is perfect, but this one does appear to be on television at least.

Still, Chip says the couple is “strengthening their marriage every day, which takes real time and effort.”

This is practically what Chip and Joanna said upon confirming Fixer Upper would end after Season 5.

“This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment,” they explained, concluding:

“Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

Chip and Joanna Gaines: Wait, Is THIS Why They"re Leaving Fixer Upper?

Fixer Upper will come to an end after Season 5.

This much we tragically know.

But WHY will Fixer Upper come to an end after Season 5? This question is now being debated around the Internet.

Upon announcing their decision to pull the plug on their hit HGTV home renovation show, Chip and Joanna simply said they needed a break.

The Waco, Texas-based couple has a number of business ventures outside of Fixer Upper and said in a statement that everything is moving a little too quickly at the moment.

“We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause,” explained everyone’s favorite reality show couple last month, adding:

“Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger.

“This has nothing to do with a fraudulent skincare line or anything else you’ll inevitably read. This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.

“Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

As it turns out, Chip and Joanna were right to assume that fans would “inevitably read” reports to the contrary.

There’s one this week on The New York Post.

And it alleges the stars did not walk away from their highly-rated series simply because they were tired… but because they were angry over their contract.

The argument goes like this:

Fixer Upper is the highest-rated show on HGTV. The network, meanwhile, will soon be sold by Scripps to Discovery Communications.

And sources tell Page Six that Chip and Joanna think this deal will result in a better deal for them as well.

“Scripps talent contracts are very restrictive,” writes the aforementioned newspaper, expounding:

“The talent can’t do anything without their approval – any appearance, any publicity, any endorsement, any product – you have to ask them for permission. It is awful. And on top of that, Scripps takes a big percentage of everything you make – books, appearances, endorsements, products.

“If you make money, they take most of the money.”

It’s easy to see how this would be unappealing to a couple with an empire such as that of Chip and Joanna.

The Fixer Upper contract ends after Season 5 (which Joanna says will be awesome!), and this insider claims the couple is “using this end of their contract as a total renegotiation to get the deal they really want: more money, less work, more control.”

He adds:

“The timing of Discovery buying Scripps worked well in their favor.

“With Discovery hopefully now about to own Scripps, they are rolling the dice thinking the new owners will come running after them and give them the deal they really want.”

There would be nothing wrong with this at all if it’s true.

It’s pretty straightforward business.

A rep for HGTV, however, says the following:

“Of course, this inflammatory information is inaccurate. Chip and Joanna have already shared with their fans why they made their decision and we support them.”

And a rep for Chip and Joanna says the following:

“Chip and Jo’s decision to leave Fixer Upper is truly just based on wanting to catch their breath for a minute; to rest, refresh, and spend even more time with their family and growing businesses.

“It is not based on anything else people might read.

“They were very open and honest about their reasoning behind this decision when they first shared the announcement.”

We shall see.

It’s a cliche, but time will tell.

Chip and Joanna haven’t closed the door forever on Fixer Upper, but if you see the show back on the air pretty quickly after Season 5 ends, youl’l know who was telling the truth here.

Joanna Gaines to Fixer Upper Fans: The Best is Yet to Come!

It’s sad, but true:

Fixer Upper is coming to an end.

Following various rumors along these lines over the past few months, Chip and Joanna Gaines issued a joint statement on Monday in which they broke the hearts of HGTV viewers around the nation.

The beloved couple confirmed that the highest-rated show on the aforementioned cable network will wrap up for good after Season 5.

Because of some kind of scandal? Because they have other projects in the works? No, not really.

“This has nothing to do with a fraudulent skincare line or anything else you’ll inevitably read,” Chip and Joanna wrote, trying to get ahead of the rumor mill.

“This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.

“Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

Fair enough.

We’ll miss Chip and Joanna a ton. But we respect that decision.

And we’re comforted by Joanna’s Instagram update, in which she assures fans that plenty of solid television awaits.

“Thank you all for watching, caring and cheering us on these past few years,” she wrote shortly after making the above announcement.

Joanna went on to add:

“We are overwhelmed by your support and your kindness. You have become a part of our story forever.

“Season 5 of Fixer Upper is scheduled to start airing in November and we really have saved the best for last!”

Chip and Joanna are located in Waco, Texas.

They have four kids and a chemistry that is nearly unmatched on the small screen; it’s been the main reason for their success over the years.

On Fixer Upper, the couple helps clients select a new home, followed by Chip leading a renovation team and then Joanna leading an interior design team to improve said new home in a myriad of ways.

It premiered in May of 2013.

The couple’s growing portfolio of successful businesses, meanwhile, includes:

  • Retail compound Magnolia Market at the Silos, which draws up to 40,000 visitors every week).

  • Paint, rug, wallpaper and furniture lines.

  • A quarterly magazine

  • A real estate company.

  • A luxury vacation rental.

  • A soon-to-open restaurant.

  • A New York Times bestselling book, with a second, “Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff,” due out October 17.

In other words: Chip and Joanna are doing VERY well for themselves.

This is how they concluded their end-of-show-confirmation blog entry yesterday morning:

We will forever be thankful for HGTV and this opportunity of a lifetime. We are also thankful to our production company, Highnoon Entertainment and our amazing producers and crew on the ground here in Waco.

We are grateful for them and for you. Thank you for sharing life with us and for the continued support. Thank you for having our backs!

Thank you for caring about these homes and these families and the things that we care so much about.

Even that wasn’t enough, though. This was their final line:

Really, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Chip and Joanna Gaines: About That Divorce Chatter...

It happened to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.

It happened to Chris Pratt and Anna Faris.

Heck, it just happened to Fergie and Josh Duhamel.

No matter how happy and in love a couple in Hollywood may seem, you simply never know if they will last or not. It’s hard not to be a cynic.

This may explain why divorce chatter continues to follow around Chip and Joanna Gaines, the beloved twosome at the center of HGTV’s Fixer Upper.

They have four children. Their chemistry on screen is undeniable. But is it real?

Or is it just a show for the cameras?

In an interview this week with Jenna Bush Hager on The Today Show, Chip and Joanna did all they could to set the romantic record straight.

“It’s funny, when I think about these circumstances, I think they’re hilarious,” Chip said in a pre-taped segment, adding:

“I’m like, ‘I can’t believe that these things are happening to us.’ Because part of me feels, who would care about that?”

Who would care about their love lives enough to conjure up such sordid rumors, in other words?!?

What does Joanna think when it comes to tabloids or websites trying to stir up controversy between her and her goofball of a husband?

“I just don’t know what’s going on. So then I’ll hear someone come up to me and say, ‘I hear you and Chip are getting a divorce!’ And I’ll be like, ‘Where did you hear that?’

“I don’t know any of this!"”

Joanna, who specializes in interior design, wants to make sure fans do not believe what they read.

She wants everyone to know that none of this break-up talk comes from her or Chip… or anyone that really knows her or Chip.

“We do our due diligence in letting people know as much as we can, ‘This isn’t us. Don’t be scammed,"” says Joanna.

Last month, in response to a question on Twitter about whether he was splitting from his wife, Chip also aimed to be as clear as possible.

No words were minced. No bushes were beaten around.

“Won’t ever happen.. you can take that to the bank!” Gaines Tweeted, adding that Joanna is the “#loveOfMyLife.”

How sweet, right?

Instead of personal life drama, these HGTV stars are focused on their professional universe.

Fixer Upper is headed into its fifth season in their hometown of Waco, Texas – and there’s no end in sight.

“As long as it can work in Waco, in our backyard, it works for us,” Chip said on Today, concluding:

“We’ve got four kids who need us, we’ve got a business here that needs us, and something about our marriage – we do better when we’re on our home turf.”

“Home is the most important thing and the fact that we get to be a part of that is an honor,” Joanna adds.

Man, we adore these two. We hope they never change.

Chip Gaines Addresses Divorce Rumors; Are They Real?!?

Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines star on an HGTV program about renovating homes.

The same can be said about Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa.

And we all know what happened to their marriage, don’t we?

Might the same fate befall Chip and Joanna?

Yes, the husband and wife come across as totally and completely in smitten with each other; they are as lovey dovey on air as any twosome on television.

But can any viewer truly say he or she knows these two well? Or at all?

Moreover, all know how reality TV impacts most couples out there (Spoiler Alert: not positively) and Chris Pratt just announced his separation from Anna Faris.

So, really, who the heck knows anymore?!? No famous couple is safe, that’s for certain.

Over the weekend, a Twitter user wrote that she felt “sick” over chatter that Chip and Joanna were headed for divorce, prompting the father of four to respond to this concern with a few simple words.

However, they were the right, comforting words.

“Won’t ever happen.. you can take that to the bank!” Gaines Tweeted, adding that Joanna is the “#loveOfMyLife.”

chip tweets

AWWWW, right?!?

The unofficial king and queen of home improvement have been married since 2003.

They have four children together, ages six to 11, all of whom are often featured on Fixer Upper at home, enjoying life on the family farm with their smiling parents.

The series, which combines Chip’s construction skills with Joanna’s eye for interior design, is in its fourth season and consistently rates as one of HGTV’s most popular shows.

Yes, this is due in part to viewer fascination with home renovation… but also to the couple’s fun and unique chemistry.

Chip is a goofball. Joanna frequently makes fun of him. And their romance seems as real and as easy as it gets.

But Gaines did tell People Magazine at one point that he and Joanna have faced challenges in the past, just like any married people.

“Nothing has come easy,” he explained in February, adding at the time:

“We’ve worked so hard to have this beautiful family and this farm – it really does seem like the American dream you heard about growing up…

“Jo and I really have created boundaries to some extent for one another and it just helps us both flourish.

“I am her biggest cheerleader when it comes to the things that she’s rocking and rolling in and vice versa in my category.

“Just encourage one another’s strengths and not be so particular that you constantly butt heads over it.”

And, look, if these two can overcome Chip’s man bun, they can overcome any obstacle.

While Chip’s personal life appears to be taking place without a hitch, he’s run into a few professional problems of late.

In April, Gaines was sued by his former Magnolia Real Estate partners for more than $ 1 million, as they claim he forced them to sell their stakes in the company before it took way off as a result of Fixer Upper.

Lawyers for the reality star have labeled the lawsuit as “meritless.”

Said Joanna several weeks ago, amidst talk that she was leaving the series:

“At this point in our career we can honestly say, we’ve heard it all – from reports of us moving our family to Vegas to us having more or less children than we actually have.

“So remember, you can’t believe everything you read.”

Unless it comes from Chip or Joanna themselves, that is!

We totally believe Joanna is the love of Chip’s life and no one will convince us otherwise!

Chip Gaines Calls for "Respect" Amidst HGTV Gay Scandal

Chip Gaines is choosing to remain chipper in the face of ongoing adversity.

The HGTV star, one half of the popular couple at the center of home renovation and design show Fixer Upper, found himself in all kinds of headlines last week…

… despite not actually doing or saying anything of note.

But Buzzfeed published a lengthy article that highlighted the pastor who leads the church in Texas often frequented by Chip, his wife Joanna and their children.

The feature piece went into depth regarding Jimmy Seibert, specifically two beliefs he holds when it comes to homosexuals:

  1. He does not support gay marriage.

  2. He thinks gay people can be converted into straight people.

Doe Chip and Joanna share these controversial beliefs?

Would a gay couple ever be featured on Fixer Upper?

How dare Buzzfeed run what basically amounted to a hit piece on Chip and Joanna simply based on the church they attend?

Many questions were asked in light of this article. Many sides were taken.

In response, HGTV issued a statement that read:

“We don’t discriminate against members of the LGBT community in any of our shows. HGTV is proud to have a crystal clear, consistent record of including people from all walks of life in its series.”

And it’s true: plenty of same-sex couples have been featured on such programs as Love It or List It and Property Brothers.

Chip and Joanna, meanwhile, have said next to nothing in reply to this scandal.

Some, however, have interpreted a couple Chip Tweets as confirmation that he agrees with his pastor’s stances in relation to the gay lifestyle.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE,” he wrote the day the Buzzfeed article went viral, later adding:

“U know.. even as all hell ‘appears’ to be breaking loose. All I have to do is look at my 4 precious babies sleeping, or kiss Jo good morning and at least at that moment, at my house, all is right with the world.”

These Tweets are obviously not an admission of any viewpoint.

But many are wondering why Chip would not simply come out and express his support for gay marriage if that, indeed, is what he believes.

(Others, conversely, are wondering why on earth Chip has to make this opinion public.)

On December 3, meanwhile, Gaines did directly address the Buzzfeed article that started this hullabaloo, along with one of that website’s writers.

And he did so in a broad, very positive manner.

“Regardless of our decision to make a statement about all this craziness, or not, I ask that people please! respect [BuzzFeed’s] @KateAurthur & [Cosmopolitan’s] @ginamei,” Gaines wrote.

That’s a very nice and reasonable sentiment.

The following morning, the reality stars headed to their controversial church for Sunday mass.

“In times of trouble … you’ll find the gaines family at church,” Chip wrote.

In June of last year, Seibert told churchgoers the following:

“God defined marriage, not you and I. God defined masculine and feminine, male and female, not you and I. Truth No. 1: Homosexuality is a sin. The lie: Homosexuality is not a sin.

A similar statement was shared on the nondenominational, evangelical church’s website.

Fixer Upper airs on HGTV Tuesdays at 9/8c.

Will your viewing of it depend on whether or not Chip and Joanna share this belief?

Chip Gaines Confirms The Rumors That He"s Homophobic?!

Well, this is kind of disappointing.

You know Chip and Joanna Gaines, from Fixer Upper on HGTV?

They have a whole lot of fans, just so many people who love them and adore them and think that they’re just the best, cutest couple to ever appear on reality television.

Or they did have a whole lot of fans, before this little story came out last week.

A few days ago, Buzzfeed published a story all about the church that the Gaines family attends, specifically about the Church’s pastor, Jimmy Seibert.

According to the report, Seibert is “against same-sex marriage,” and he “promotes converting LGBT people into being straight.”

The idea that a pastor in Texas would be against gay marriage is, sadly, not all that shocking, but some of the things that Seibert has said definitely are.

He’s been quoted as stating that “Statistics say that 90% of people who are in a full-blown homosexual lifestyle were abused in some way. Physically sexually, mentally.”

He’s also called “same-sex attraction” an “addiction,” that young people see “sexuality up front in pornography” and get caught up in it.

As for the terrible, terrifying idea of conversion therapy, Seibert has claimed “I have seen hundreds of people personally change their direction of same-sex attraction from a homosexual lifestyle to a heterosexual lifestyle.”

“It doesn’t mean that they don’t struggle with feelings, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t hurting, it doesn’t mean it’s not challenging.”

“But they have chosen to change,” he said. “And there has always been grace there for those who choose that.”

Yikes, right?

So the idea, and the scandal, is that since Chip and Joanna attend Seibert’s church, they must share his views.

HGTV has made a statement about the controversy that read “We don’t discriminate against members of the LGBT community in any of our shows.”

“HGTV is proud to have a crystal clear, consistent record of including people from all walks of life in its series.”

But still, Chip and Joanna haven’t made a statement themselves, and, it’s worth noting, they’ve never made any sort of homophobic remarks publicly.

However, Chip’s Twitter account sure has been interesting these past few days …

On December 1st, right after the original article was published, he tweeted “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE.”

Later that day, he wrote “U know.. even as all hell ‘appears’ to be breaking loose. All I have to do is look at my 4 precious babies sleeping, or kiss Jo good morning and at least at that moment, at my house, all is right with the world.”

A couple of days after that, he asked his fans to “please! respect” the authors of the article, “regardless of our decision to make a statement about all this craziness, or not.”

And then, this morning, he tweeted “In times of trouble.. you’ll find the gaines family at church.”

So that seems pretty pointed, right?

He could have fired off a quick tweet denying that they share the same beliefs as their pastor, he could have even not tweeted anything.

But instead, he stated that, in the middle of all this mess, the family would be at church. With the pastor.

We hope we’re wrong about this, but it’s really not looking too great, huh?
