Justin Timberlake: Playing the Superbowl Halftime Show!

Last week, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary. They posted sweet tributes to each other and reminded the world that they are just an adorable couple.

And it turns out that they — or Justin, at least — have more to celebrate than their anniversary.

Because JT is going to be playing the Superbowl Halftime Show. And the (super cute) announcement video is below!

Justin Timberlake — the man who was the singing sensation and teen heartthrob named Justin well before Justin Bieber ever uploaded his first YouTube video — is still a popular man to this day.

While many of his former bandmates haven"t been treated as well in their lives or careers as he has, Justin has enjoyed success and fame well beyond his boy band years.

The fact that he"s playing the Superbowl Halftime Show is evidence of that.

Jimmy Fallon"s still trying to live down the backlash that he got for ruffling Trump"s hair and thereby normalizing him and all that he represented before the American audience.

(The backlash at this point might be a little excessive, since Fallon doesn"t deserve all of the blame — that lies primarily with, well, any voter who helped get Trump elected)

In the video that you"ll see below, Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon do goofy British accents in a back-and-forth that segues into the revelation that yes, JT is officially headlining the Halftime Show.

Some don"t watch the Halftime Show, while others tune in exclusively for it and ignore the sports game that plays before and after it.

But one way or another, millions of Americans will see it, so it"s always a huge deal and a ridiculous spectacle.

Remember, this is where we got Left Shark. This is cause for celebration.

Or … is it?

As we mentioned back when Justin Timberlake doing the Halftime Show was but a rumor, this is a little controversial.

We"re all very familiar with the term "wardrobe malfunction" these days, but Justin Timberlake is the first person to publicly use the phrase.

He used it to apologize for "accidentally" baring Janet Jackson"s breast during the 2004 Superbowl Halftime Show.

And "wardrobe malfunction" has been part of the English lexicon ever since.

Janet, in the mean time, has been basically blacklisted from major networks for the audacity of not using enough layers to hide her nipple, we guess.

(Gotta keep that sinful woman flesh hidden, you know, or children will be scarred for life)

Is it fair for Justin Timberlake to get another bite at the apple while Janet Jackson is still viewed in such a negative light?

Many say that it is not.

There are other concerns, too, if we"re being honest.

Like … what was Justin Timberlake"s last big song?

Wasn"t it for that awful movie with those trolls from the early "90s? Or did we just hallucinate that during the liminal space that was 2016?

(We did not dream that into being and the song was titled "Can"t Stop The Feeling!")

it does occur to us that, just as the Spice Girls got back together for the London Olympics, maybe Justin Timberlake will arrange for a little NSYNC reunion during the Halftime Show.

(Let us dream!)

Still … there"s a chance that his performance might be less than memorable. That would be a real shame.

For our part, though we"re maybe a little anxious to see if Justin Timberlake puts on a good show, we know what we"re really looking forward to about the Halftime Show:

The inevitable Illuminati analysis by deranged conspiracy theorists afterwards.

Remember, these are people who think that Paris Jackson might be an Illuminati clone or whatever. They can and will believe anything that fits their deeply paranoid worldview.

Each year, you see, these bloggers post their interpretations of the Halftime Show which is, for some reason, a secret ritual performed in plain view for all of the world to see.

(Because the first thing that you want to do as a secret society that controls the world is put up coded messages about it)

The "Illuminati rituals" which are somehow simultaneously Satanist, Pagan, and Freemason, even though those are all different things and always seems to be designed to represent some deeply salacious ritual normally performed behind closed doors, Eyes Wide Shut style.

Obviously, these are just projections of the blogger"s own suppressed desires and fantasies, but that doesn"t make any of it less weird.

We cannot help but wonder what they"ll have to say about Justin Timberlake and whatever he comes up with.

Maybe Janet Jackson will come out and rip off his pants before the cameras, but we somehow doubt that. Alas.

Anyway, here"s the announcement video! It"s pretty goofy.

Lady Gaga Halftime Performance: GRADE IT!

She didn’t wear a meat dress.

But Lady Gaga still made quite the statement during halftime of Super Bowl LI on Sunday night.

She performed all 13 minutes of her act solo, dedicating the show to “love, diversity and compassion,” based on a Tweet the artist sent not long before taking the field:

gaga tweets

But… wait! She didn’t actually take the field.

At least not at the outset of her performance.

We opened with Gaga standing on top of the NRG Stadium’s roof, singing a few verses of“God Bless America” and “This Land is Your Land.”

She then recited the Pledge of Allegiance prior to dropping down off the roof and on to the field while suspended by wires in mid-air.

It was quite the spectacle (and, really, quite the advertisement for whichever company made those cables.)

Gaga was then lowered to the stage for a gravity-defying performance of “Poker Face,” flipping and turning in the air while singing.

(Yes, singing. Gaga most definitely did not lip-synch.)

From there, it was on to a smoke-and-lights rendition of “Born This Way,” with a bevy of backup dancers supporting the artist, who was front and center and doing her talented thing

Viewers were also treated to a rendition of “Telephone,” which led into another classic Gaga jam, “Just Dance,” along with the emotional “Million Reasons.”

The latter song included Gaga just sitting at a piano and giving a shout-out at one point to her mom and dad.

She also asked America how it was doing (HA! What a loaded question!) and said she was on hand to make us feel “good.”

To close out the impressive performance, which was very well received on Twitter, the star ditched her sparkle-laden outfit for a white football-inspired look, putting a unique and sexy twist on the concept of a shoulder pad.

This look complemented a full-length version of the singer’s massive 2009 hit “Bad Romance.”

While she belted out the lyrics, Gaga was flanked by dozens of dancers and massive stage explosives, bringing the show to a frenzied peak.

Oh, and she ended things by hurling her microphone to the ground… catching a football… and leaping off the bleachers.

Never one to be shy about speaking her mind, Gaga told a Las Vegas radio show last week that she did not plan on making a pointed political references on stage.

We knew going in that she would not bring up Donald Trump or any of his policies.

“No, that’s not what the show is about,” she said, explaining:

“The show is something that is coming from my heart to everyone in America that I love so much. This is my country and I’m proud to be a pop star from this country. …

“I want people that watch the Halftime show that Pepsi Zero Sugar is putting on with us to feel the greatness of the USA.”

Did you feel the greatness of the USA while watching?

Beyonce, Allegedly Racist Halftime Act to Be Protested in NYC

Red Lobster may be very happy with Beyonce because the chain says it has seen sales spike as a result of Beyonce singing about where she takes a lover that pleases her in bed.

But not everyone shares in this ongoing love affair with the superstar solo artist.

In fact, a full day’s worth of protests AGAINST Beyonce are planned for Tuesday outside of the NFL’s New York City headquarters.

The rally is being organized by an unnamed host who says in his or her promotion that Beyonce’s halftime performance was a “race-baiting stunt” and a “slap in the face to law enforcement.”

Reads the event’s official website, in a plea to like-minded critics of Queen Bey:

“Come and let’s stand together. Let’s tell the NFL we don’t want hate speech & racism at the Superbowl ever again!”

Beyonce released the music video for “Formation” the day before the Suepr Bowl.

The controversial footage takes on issues such the post-Hurricane Katrina response in New Orleans, police brutality and black womanhood in general.

She followed up this video by dressing like a member of the Black Panthers alongside a group of backup dancers, prompting ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to say the following on Fox News:

“I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive.

“What we should be doing in the African-American community, and all communities, is build up respect for police officers.”

However, Kevin Allred – an adjunct lecturer at Rutgers University who actually teaches a class on the politics of Beyonce – tells The Huffington Post that this line of criticism is terrible off base.

“I do think it’s a hateful action and a very privileged one,” Allred said of the anti-Beyonce protest, explaining:

“It’s people who aren’t thinking critically. They’re getting mad at her calling out an injustice rather than being mad at the injustice itself.”

Rudy Giuliani Slams Beyonce Halftime Show: Find Out Why!

Rudy Giuliani will not be bowing down to Queen Bey any time soon.

Pretty much the opposite, in fact.

The Former New York City Mayor and Republican candidate for President appeared on Fox & Friends yesterday and explained what issues he took with Beyonce’s Super Bowl 50 halftime show, which was widely praised by most viewers.

“I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, the people who protect her and protect us and keep us alive,” Giuliani said on Monday.

The superstar debuted the new single Formation over the weekend, releasing its music video on Saturday, which contains references to Hurricane Katrina and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Her routine at the Super Bowl in Santa Clara included a squad of backup dancers who were dressed in what most interpreted as a nod to the Black Panthers.

Giuliani said this anti-police message missed a very important mark:

“What we should be doing in the African American community, and all communities, is build up respect for police officers and focus on the fact that when something does go wrong, OK, we’ll work on that.

“But the vast majority of police officers risk their lives to keep us safe.”

We don’t think there’s a single person on the planet disputing that statement.

With multiple acts of violence committed by police officers against African-Americans of late, however, many people would like to know: OK, WHAT are we doing to work on that?

Giuliani wondered overall why we even have halftime acts (“This is football, not Hollywood,” he said), but added that if the NFL insists on doing so down the line that the league ought to choose more “wholesome” acts.

“Just figure out who you’re putting on,” he said, concluding of Beyonce:

“This is a political position, she’s probably going to take advantage of it. You’re talking to middle America when you have the Super Bowl, so if you can have entertainment, let’s have decent wholesome entertainment and not use it as a platform to attack the people who put their lives at risk to save us.”

Do you agree with Giuliani?

Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show: Grade It!

Say this about Super Bowl 50: it successfully lowered the bar on our expectations for its halftime show.

Unlike past halftime performers such as Madonna, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars, Coldplay isn’t exactly known for bringing the house down with any loud, raucous, dance-filled anthems.

So… did Chris Martin and company surprise viewers with their set of Super Bowl songs?

Or was this halftime performance more boring than the wishbone offense?

Well… Coldplay didn’t exactly blow us away. They’re a perfectly acceptable band that plays perfectly chill music. But that isn’t exactly what the Super Bowl stage is for.

But then Bruno Mars showed up! And he sang Uptown Funk! And of course it was amazing!

And then Beyonce showed up! And she sang her new song Formation!

And then she stared down Mars and the two danced together to Uptown Funk! And it was awesome!

Martin was then brought back in to sing a tribute to the previous 49 Super Bowl halftime performers, belting out a medley of their tracks while viewers watched highlights from those performances.

And that was pretty darn cool.

So this wasn’t really a Coldplay halftime show.

It was a Chris Martin, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars halftime show, with the latter two artists doing their crazy talented and entertaining thing and Martin chiming in on the piano to honor those who came before him.

And it all worked out pretty well in the end.

Do you agree? Did it seem sort of like Chris Martin had been given a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to join two of the world’s best performers on the world’s grandest stage?

Chime in below.

Coldplay to Perform at Halftime of Super Bowl 50

The NFL will celebrate an epic milestone on February 7, 2016.

And it will do so with an epically boring selection of halftime performers.

According to Us Weekly insiders, the league has chosen Coldplay to take to the stage midway through Super Bowl 50 next year.

The British rock band – which consists of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion – is an unexpected choice, considering their song catalog is not exactly filled with up-tempo jams.

The magazine does add that Bruno Mars (who kicked serious booty in 2013 at the Super Bowl) will also be involved in the show in some way, shape or form; as will other “friends of the group.”

Despite previous reports, neither Maroon 5 nor Taylor Swift will take part in the show.

What do you think? Are you excited for Coldplay to perform at Super Bowl 50?

Recent Super Bowl halftime acts have included Katy Perry, Mars, Madonna, and Beyonce, who recently collaborated with Coldplay for the song “Hymn for the Weekend.”

So maybe she’ll make a cameo!

Or Gwyneth Paltrow!

A website can hope, can’t it? Anything to make this uninspired selection a little more… inspired.

Coldplay’s seventh and allegedly finale studio album, A Head Full of Dreams, just went on sale this past Friday.
