Danielle Herrington: Who is the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Girl?
Danielle Herrington has reached what many consider to be the pinnacle of the modeling business:
She has been named the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover girl.
And it’s pretty easy to see why…
Herrington is only the third African-American woman to grace the front of the legendary issue, something she touched on in a statement released shortly after the above photo went public.
“Two of my role models are Tyra Banks and Beyonce, so the fact that I get to join this incredible group of women as I become the third black model on the cover of SI Swimsuit is a dream come true,” Herrington says, adding:
“I am so excited to be part of this iconic brand that has long given identity and voice to women of all shapes, colors and beliefs.
“I hope that young girls who look at this cover are inspired to dream as big as I did and work hard to attain all their goals.”
Harrington posed for this issue for the very first time just a year ago.
She went from being a 2017 rookie to the star of the 2018 edition.
And she said previously that this was the path she always dreamed about, she just didn’t know if it was realistic.
In a 2017 interview with Fox News, Herrington talked about how she aspired to be just like Banks, who appears on probably the most iconic cover in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit history.
“I just remember Tyra Banks being on the cover and that’s where it all started for me,” Danielle said.
“That’s what really made me pursue modeling. SI was a goal from that point, from seeing Tyra on the cover. It was love at first sight… everything happened naturally.”
What else is worth noting about Danielle Herrington?
She’s 24 years old.
She grew up in Compton, California.
She majored in Psychology and would have been a child psychiatrist if she had not become a model.
Sports Illustrated is the first magazine she has EVER posed for.
“I am beyond speechless,” she wrote on Instagram after this cover was revealed.
She added:
“I dedicate this to all the young girls out there. Work hard, surround yourself with good people who believe in you and YOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.”
For this cover shot, Herrington was shot by photographer Ben Watts in Harbour Island, Bahamas.
“Last year, Danielle was a rookie, and yet already an exemplary model,” said SI Swimsuit Editor MJ Day, gushing in more detail:
“She’s an extra hard worker and a natural brand ambassador. All those things separately don’t guarantee a cover, though. Danielle was a shy girl, who went from taking her first photos last year to showing up this year a completely different person.
“All the good things about her seemed to be magnified.
“She owned every single second of her shoot. She had an enthusiasm and effervescence about her – I felt like I was meeting her for the first time.
“Last year she showed up never expecting to be there; this year she showed up completely claiming her place and status as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model.”

Kate Upton: Clash of the Sports Illustrated Covers!
As previously reported, Kate Upton has been chosen as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model.
Yes, you’ve likely read that sentence before.
Because this is the third time Upton has been honored with this special issue’s cover, having flaunted her body for the magazine’s feature photo in 2012 and 2013 as well.
Despite being named Rookie of the Year in 2011 by Sports Illustrated editors – following her first set of bikini photos within the publication’s pages – Upton wasn’t very well know five years ago.
“If I got the cover, I would be really excited. It would be really amazing,” Kate said while shooting for the 2012 issue, adding at the time:
“It’s always what I’ve talked about. I grew up in an American family, so it always was on the coffee table and to be that girl on the magazine on the coffee table would just be really groundbreaking for me.”
The dream became a reality shortly after Upton sat down for this interview.
And the following 2012 cover launched her into superstardom:
A year later, it was off to Antarctica for Upton and her fellow models.
“When you think you’re going for a Sports Illustrated shoot, you think beach – sometimes it can be chilly and there’s going to be wind, but when you know you’re going to Antarctica, you know you’re going to be freezing and half naked,” Kate said that year.
“And I was very nervous because I grew up in Florida and I don’t do well in the snow when I’m fully dressed.”
Upton was anything but fully dressed for this pictorial.
Yes, she donned a winter jacket for the occasion.
But she didn’t wear a top of any kind!
Those enormous breasts were exposed to all the winter elements, not to mention a readership of millions.
“This specific shot was on the boat,” Upton explained back then of the cover, adding:
“It was the last shot of the round and the gave me coat, which, at the time, I thought was a miracle. At one point, I was sitting on the railing and then came down.
“The wind was blowing and they let me put my hood up and who’ve known that would’ve been the cover?”
After being featured on a pair of covers, word spread this year that Upton would not pose for SI at all unless she was given yet another cover.
We can’t confirm if that diva-like demand actually went down.
All we can say for certain is that Upton is, indeed, covering the Swimsuit Edition once again. And we don’t think any guy out there is complaining.
So there you have it.
Now you’ve ogle Kate Upton bikini photos from 2012, 2013 and 2017.

Kate Upton Sizzles on THREE Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition Covers
As it turns out, being a cold-hearted, whiny, self-centered brat can really pay off.
Just ask Kate Upton.
We kid, but the ridiculously gorgeous model has landed her third Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition covers just days after reports surfaced that she threw some major fits unless she was given this honor.
We cannot confirm those allegations, but we can take a look at the trio of photos below and confirm the following…
… Kate Upton is very, very good looking.
That’s right, we said TRIO of photos.
Upton is featured on three different covers for the annual, bikini-themed issue… and she’s not even wearing a top for two of them!
The theme of this year’s special issue centers on body diversity and age inclusion, something that was vital to Sports Illustrated editor MJ Day.
Upton told the magazine that this theme also influenced her decision to strip way down for the publication once again.
“To have an issue that focuses on that is really an amazing moment for me because I think it’s important for everyone to be the best they can be, but not to strive to be a company or industry’s idea of perfect,” Upton tells Sports Illustrated.
She adds:
“For SI to emphasize every different type of perfect is really inspiring. Those are the campaigns I want to do and the career I want to have – to inspire women to love themselves.”
Well said.
With these Kate Upton pictures, the 24-year old probably also inspired quite a few men out there to buy new boxes of tissues. If you get out masturbatory drift.
Upton is engaged to the luckiest person on the face of the planet Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.
She’s been outspoken in the past about Verlander’s body of baseball work, but she talked in this case to Sports Illustrated about the amazing body that she so often puts to work.
“This year, I had a completely different mindset about my body and instead of always trying to fit in a certain sample size, I wanted to be strong and healthy,” she explains.
“Changing my workout and focusing on weight training helped me do that. It helped me think about my body as a machine and less of something people can judge me on.
“People feel ashamed when they look bad one day, but it’s okay not to love yourself every second of every day. Appreciate what your body can do.”
Upton really need not worry one bit about this problem.
It’s safe to assume that plenty of people out there appreciate everything her body can do.
Along with Upton, those featured in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition include Hannah Davis, who posed while pregnant with Derek Jeter’s baby.
And Christie Brinkley, who came out of retirement to pose alongside her daughters.
Those two had received a lot of attention of the past week or so for their gorgeous pictorials, but Upton is the one making every headline today.
“Wow, so honored and excited to be back with @SI_Swimsuit in an issue that celebrates beauty and confidence in all shapes & sizes,” she Tweeted last night upon revealing these trio of covers.
And to those who may complain about Upton – who was named Sports Illustrated Rookie of the Year in 2011 – nabbing her third Swimsuit Edition cover in just six years, we direct you to the following gallery of photos.
Take a close look at them:
And now ask yourself:
Why would anyone but Kate Upton ever be featured on these covers?!?

Kate Upton Deserves the Sports Illustrated Cover. This is Why.
Earlier this week, savage haters unleashed an attack on Kate Upton, citing an unnamed source calling Upton a f–king "diva" and worse.
According to the New York Post, Kate "thinks she’s better than everyone because she’s an actress" and expects to be treated accordingly.
"Kate demanded that if she did the shoot, that she absolutely must get the [Sports Illustrated] cover," the inside source told the newspaper.
"She was being a big f–king diva.”
Upton may not be an actress in the sense that Meryl Streep is an actress, or even Meghan Markle is an actress. But step off, haters.
When it comes to modeling for Sports Illustrated, Upton is clearly better than anyone else, so if she wants to be on the swimsuit issue cover?
Why are we debating this.

Christie Brinkley and Daughters: Sizzling in Sports Illustrated!
Christie Brinkley is 63 years old.
This is simply a fact. It isn’t all that interesting on its own.
But it’s downright fascinating and really pretty amazing when you stop and look at the following photo.
Oh, yes, that’s a snapshot of Brinkley and her two daughters posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
They will be featured on one of the three covers of this year’s annual, bikini-clad issue of that publication.
Brinkley first graced a SI Swimsuit cover way back in 1979. (She was also featured on the cover in 1980 and 1981.)
She spent the next several years touring the globe, posing for a number of magazines and becoming one of the best known super models on the planet.
But she retired in 2004, only agreeing to put back on her sexy attire for this unique opportunity of posing alongside children Alexa Ray Joel, 31, and Sailor Brinkley Cook, 18.
The issue that features mom and her two daughters will go on sale on February 15.
“My first thought was, ‘At my age? No way!’” Brinkley told People of the shoot, adding:
“When I turned 30, I was like, ‘This is the last time I’m posing in a bathing suit!’ When this issue comes out, I’ll be 63. I thought, ‘Those days are over.’
“But to get to do it with my girls, I thought, ‘One last go!’”
The beautiful family members are posing above in Turks & Caicos.
And even though Sailor looks amazing, she shared this photo on her Instagram page with a lengthy, pointed and personal caption attached to it.
“I grew up not loving how I looked and felt held back because of it,” the teenager wrote.
“I don’t know why I always felt that way… sure I had baby fat and definitely went through a plethora of awkward phases, but I had a family that loved me I had friends who made me laugh etc.
“But for some reason I still looked in the mirror and always somehow found something to pick on.”
The 18-year old went on to say that she went from “too fat” to “too thin” to “too muscular” and was never satisfied with what she saw in the mirror.
“Recently I have been liberated,” she wrote, explaining:
“I am healthy, I treat myself well, and for that I’m happy. I’ve looked in the mirror and been able to LOVE the things about my body that beauty norms deem ‘undesirable.’
“I now have grown to know that my body is worthy of so many great things. I don’t need to be a size 0 to believe in myself. My body carries me each and every day, it loves the people I love, it holds what makes me healthy and strong, it bends it shakes it runs and it CHANGES.
“That is okay and that is beautiful.”
Amen, Sailor!
Alexa, who tragically attempted suicide in 2009, also took to Instagram on Tuesday to comment on the family snapshot.
“I don’t have a completely flat tummy, or cellulite-free thighs … nor am I a model’s height or shape,” she wrote on her account.
“Neither are hundreds of millions of other beautiful women out there. SO WHAT?
“All of those unrealistic-looking, photoshopped images are nothing more than white noise, playing off of your own insecurities in order to make a buck.
“Don’t let them affect you. DO YOU! We are all perfect, just as we are.”
You raised your daughters well, Christine.
Well done, all three of you.
Kate Upton: Acting like a F-cking Diva Over Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover?
Kate Upton is as beautiful as it gets on the outside.
According to a bombshell new report, however, the voluptuous model is dark and conniving and kind of evil on the inside.
Allow us to explain in further, alleged detail…
On Monday, February 13, Sports Illustrated will release its annual Swimsuit Edition, likely prepared to deal with the backlash that accompanies this rollout on a yearly basis.
But while the publication is used to dealing with complaints from customers, The New York Post writes that SI was forced to deal with an unexpected internal problem while lining up sexy photos for the issue this time aroun.
And that problem centered around Upton, her large breasts and her even bigger ego.
Just like last year, the 2017 version of the Swimsuit edition is expected to feature three covers: on that stars Serena Williams, one that stars 63-year-old model Christie Brinkley and one that stars Upton.
(In 2016, the three covers depicted Ashley Graham, Hailey Clauson and Ronda Rousey in body paint and/or bikinis.)
Well… one that maybe stars Upton.
An insider tells Page Six that Upton stirred up a lot of “drama” throughout her bathing suit-based suit.
“Kate demanded that if she did the shoot, that she absolutely must get the cover,” the newspaper writes, adding of Upton:
“She also had a list of photographers and hair and makeup people she would only work with.”
Those latter demands are probably not unusual for a celebrity of Upton’s stature.
But Upton has already appeared on the Sports Illustrated cover in 2012 and 2013 and those close to this situation say he attitude and behavior have been anything but appropriate.
“She was being a big f -cking diva,” an insider claims. “She’s thinks she’s better than everyone because she’s an actress.”
Wait… she is?!?
The busty blonde did appear in The Other Woman three years ago, opposite Leslie Mann and Cameron Diaz.
But the comedy wasn’t exactly embraced by movie critics.
She has three films in post-production at the moment, including one directed by William H. Macy and another by James Franco.
In 2015, Upton – who is engaged to Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander – was the subject of a New York Post article discussing whether her “ego is ruining her career.”
One modeling industry veteran said that her “demands became ridiculous.”
We can’t wait to see how Upton responds to this uproar.
As we’ve seen in the past, Upton is unafraid to speak her mind.
The only real move that Upton ought to take here is to stage some kind of coup.
Screw Sports Illustrated, right?!?
Why not just pose for a bunch of naked photos on your own and release them on Instagram for all to see?
We see no other option for you to take, Kate. Do it. Do it. Do it RIGHT NOW.

Caitlyn Jenner Covers Sports Illustrated, Dons Gold Medal
When Caitlyn Jenner graced the cover of Vanity Fair last April, she officially came out as an icon in the transgender community.
Long before she put on a dress, however, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was an icon for those in a very different universe.
In 1976, Jenner (then known as Bruce, of course) won the Gold Medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
She was featured on boxes of Wheaties. She was featured on the cover of numerous national magazine. She was hailed as the best athlete on the planet.
Oh, yes, long before Jenner got all mixed up in the crazy world of Kim Kardashian and company, the star was a national hero.
Fast forward to 40 years later and Caitlyn is once again featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, this time as the lead story in its Where Are They Now? double issue.
She’s wearing her Gold Medal for the occasion.
“It’s a picture that brings attention to this issue,” Jenner told SI of why she posed with the award four decades after appearing as Bruce on the publication’s cover.
“That’s the important thing. That’s why I wore the medal.”
Jenner says she keeps the medal in her nail drawer, on the down low for the most part, but that she used to let her kids take it medal to show and tell in school.
Caitlyn, of course, has left the sporting world far behind, although she does hit the golf course whenever possible.
SI Films has also premiered a 22-minute film online; it takes a look back at Jenner’s historic Olympic victory and where she is now.
This is where she was when she broke on to the national scene:
At this point, Jenner remains proud of what she accomplished in track and field.
But she has now dedicated her life to a grander cause, to assisting those in the LGBT community gain acceptance.
No, she won’t ever become a man again.
She has a mission in front of her as a woman.
“Sports. It’s not real life,” she told Sports Illustrated.
“You go out there, you work hard, you train your ass off, win the Games. I’m very proud of that part of my life. And it’s not like I just want to throw it out. It’s part of who I am.
“What I’m dealing with now, this is about who you are as a human being.
“What did I do for the world in 1976, besides maybe getting a few people to exercise a little bit? I didn’t make a difference in the world.”

Caitlyn Jenner: Posing NUDE for Sports Illustrated??
Sports Illustrated has been taking some risks and making big changes recently.
This year, the publication featured its first plus-size model, Ashley Graham, on the cover of its illustrious swimsuit issue.
And a new report claims that transgender icon Caitlyn Jenner will pose for the magazine’s cover wearing “nothing but an American flag and her Olympic medal,” according to Us Weekly.
We imagine the props will be strategically placed.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Jenner’s gold medal win in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
Upon winning the medal, Jenner (then known as Bruce) had set a new world record for the decathlon and established his reputation as an American hero.
This will be the first time Jenner has posed with her medal, which she calls her “most prized possession,” since her transition last year.
The I Am Cait star has received a number of distinctions since she debuted as a woman last year on the cover of Vanity Fair.
She was recently named a 2016 Time 100 honoree, an award given to individuals the publication regards as having made a difference in the world.
In the issue, transgender activist Wayne Maines called Jenner a “hero” for “having the courage to come out at this stage of her life.”
“Caitlyn did know the consequences of coming out,” Maines said of the Olympian.
“Because no matter where you come from, how famous you might be or how much money you have, letting America see you in such a vulnerable way is daring and admirable – not self-serving.
“The courage that she displays is helping challenge society to change.
“I am so pleased that she has fulfilled her dreams and that she is now helping our children do the same.”

Serena Williams Named Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year
Serena Williams has served, volleyed and aced her way to an impressive athletic achievement.
The tennis star has been named 2015 Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated, becoming the first sole female recipient of this honor since Mary Decker in 1983.
“Serena has made a very strong case as not only the greatest tennis player of her generation but of all time, and after the string of performances she put together in 2015, she is one of the most dominant athletes playing today,” Sports Illustrated Group Editor Paul Fichtenbaum said in a statement.
Williams won three Grand Slam titles over the past 12 months, losing in the semifinals of the U.S. Open in a stunning upset.
“This year was spectacular,” Williams said in response to the distinction.
“For Sports Illustrated to recognize my hard work, dedication and sheer determination with this award gives me hope to continue on and do better.
“As I always say, it takes a village – not just one person. This is not just an accomplishment for me, but for my whole team and all my fans. I am beyond honored.”
But not everyone is happy with Serena earning the above cover, despite her record-breaking year.
In a reader poll, Williams was defeated by multiple athletes, none of whom dated Drake.
Ronda Rousey, Carli Lloyd and the entire Kansas City Royals baseball team earned more votes from random people than Serena.
The creature who should have won Sportsperson of the Year, according to this poll? American Pharaoh, the Triple Crown-winning horse.
Therefore, we now turn it over to you, THGers:
DID SERENA WILLIAMS DESERVE TO WIN SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR?
