Toddler Kills Newborn Sibling; Former Reality Star Charged with Manslaughter
This is a truly horrible story.
Kathleen Steele, a 62-year old who appeared on a reality show titled “I’m Pregnant and 55 Years Old,” has been charged with aggravated manslaughter.
And the details of the case are simply incomprehensible.
According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Steele’s six-year-old son beat his newborn sister to death while the kids and their three -year old brother were left alone.
The victim was 13 days old.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon after Steele left the three children inside her minivan while she visited a cellphone store in St. Petersburg.
“It was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen,” Gualtieri said during a press conference yesterday, per The Tampa Bay Times.
Officials have confirmed that Steele’s two youngest children were born through artificial insemination, using her husband’s frozen sperm.
The husband died of cancer in 2011 at age 66.
As a result, Steele has been raising the kids on her own.
The newspaper went on to write that the Florida native had taken the baby to a doctor Monday morning because she was not eating properly.
The pediatrician found nothing wrong with the little girl and later said there were no signs of bruising or trauma at the time of the visit.
A few hours later, Steele went into the cellphone store.
Investigators say the six-year old boy was trying to calm the crying baby, as the toddler actually used a doll to show police how he went about doing this.
In front of the authorities, he repeatedly slammed the newborn’s head into the minivan’s ceiling and showed how he bludgeoned her to death.
Steele then returned to the van… her son tried to tell her something was wrong with the newborn… she she ignored him and even made another stop before returning home.
She did not notice the baby’s injuries until then.
“The baby was beaten and traumatized,” the sheriff said. “There was gross swelling in her face. Her skull was cracked in numerous places.”
Authorities went on to say that Steele didn’t even call 911. Instead, she contacted a neighbor, who is a nurse.
This nurse performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
The six-year-old boy will not face criminal charges, although hopefully he will receive some psychiatric treatment.
“The mistake is with the adult Kathleen Steele, not a six-year-old boy,” Gualtieri said.
Steele was already being investigated by child protection investigators due to a minor brain bleed that the baby suffered following a fire.
She was scheduled to be evaluated by investigators on August 1, but she canceled and then rescheduled.
Her sons have been placed in foster care, according to the Florida paper, and she is being held on $ 100,000 bond.

Caitlyn Jenner Will NOT Be Charged With Vehicular Manslaughter Or Any Crime

The D.A. has rejected the case, saying she was not speeding, she hit the brakes though belatedly, and her conduct was not “unreasonable” based on all the facts.
Jenner was driving inattentively when she slammed into a Lexus, sending the car into oncoming traffic where it struck a Hummer. The Lexus driver died at the scene.
The accident was put under a microscope … the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. investigated the accident for almost 6 months before submitting a 161-page report to the D.A. The case was reviewed not by the D.A.’s Van Nuys satellite office — which would normally handle such cases — but by the Major Crimes Unit at D.A. headquarters in downtown L.A.
Jenner’s lawyer, Blair Berk, tells TMZ, ‘We believed from the start that a thorough and objective investigation would clear Caitlyn of any criminal wrongdoing.” Berk adds, “We are heartened the District Attorney has agreed that even a misdemeanor charge would not be appropriate.”
Berk goes on, “A traffic accident, however devastating and heartbreaking when a life is lost, is not necessarily a criminal matter.”
Caitlyn Jenner: Cleared of All Charges in Vehicular Manslaughter Case!
Back in February, Caitlyn Jenner was involved in a car accident that claimed the life of 69-year-old Kim Howe, a neighbor of Jenner’s.
As recently as last month, it was reported that Jenner could face jail time, as the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had concluded in its investigation that Jenner’s criminal negligence may have played a role in Howe’s death.
The case was then passed along to DA, who was to determine if Caitlyn would face charges.
Fortunately for Jenner, TMZ is now reporting that the DA has decided Jenner is not to blame for Howe’s death, and will not be forced to stand trial.
The DA’s office says that while Jenner may have been “driving inattentively,” she was not speeding, and she did apply her brakes – though not soon enough to prevent an accident.
Though Jenner’s delayed response was undeniably the cause of the accident, zoning out while driving is not illegal, and witnesses say the 65-year-old was not texting or looking at her phone at the time of the accident.
“A traffic accident, however devastating and heartbreaking when a life is lost, is not necessarily a criminal matter,” reads a statement from Jenner’s attorney, Blair Berk.
That’s true, but hopefully, Caitlyn still learned something from all this and will start instructing her daughters not to take selfie videos while driving.

Caitlyn Jenner Will NOT Face Manslaughter Charges — As Long As The D.A. Doesn"t Choose To Pursue The Case Despite Recent Findings!

On Wednesday, it was reported that there is a good chance that Caitlyn Jenner will NOT be facing manslaughter charges for her part in a car accident back in February that resulted in the death of Kim Howe.
It’d been up in the air for awhile whether or not the reality TV star would be held to criminal charges for the fatality by Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office — though it seems they’ve finally come to a decision.

Reportedly, sources connected to the D.A.’s office revealed that those overseeing the case have ruled the incident to be one of a negligent nature rather than a felonious one. Well that’s good to hear!
Still, it’s said that the D.A. herself Jackie Lacey can choose to ignore the findings and still pursue the legal drama by taking the I Am Cait celeb to court. Merp.
Nonetheless, we find it highly unlikely Miz Lacey will take on this up hill battle against the beloved icon. Not to mention, there is also an $ 18.5 million dollar lawsuit from the other crash victims claiming the deceased was at fault. Well that’s convenient!
