Jimmy Kimmel Compares Donald Trump to... Taylor Swift?!?
Note to Jimmy Kimmel:
Hasn"t Taylor Swift been through enough of late?
Isn"t it sufficient that her wildly anticipated new studio album sort of tanked? Or that she was snubbed by the MTV Video Music Awards?
Did you really need to drag her name so deeply through the mud by comparing her to President Donald Trump?
This unexpected statement came during Kimmel"s monologue on Wednesday night, as he mocked Trump for how he handled his press conference with Vladimir Putin.
How he"s handled America"s entire relationship with Russia, really.
"It’s all very crazy. And yet, with all of this Moscow madness happening, according to a new poll from Reuters, 71 percent of Republican voters have a favorable view of how Trump has been dealing with Russia," Kimmel said, adding:
"Which is nuts, but I was thinking about this today and I think there’s a simple explanation for it."
This was his explanation:
"They might not like what he’s doing, they might not like him, but they love how pissed off it makes Democrats and so they want it to keep happening," he reasoned.
Kimmel is not the first person to basically say Trump and his base care more about owning the liberals than anything else.
But he is the first person, as far as we know, to then say Trump is akin to Swift.
"Trump kept his base going — by calling out his ‘haters’ today on Twitter," Kimmel said. "He’s the Taylor Swift of treason. He really is."
The Taylor Swift of treason. LOL.
This were the Tweets to which Kimmel was referring:
"So many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in Helsinki. Putin and I discussed many important subjects at our earlier meeting. We got along well which truly bothered many haters who wanted to see a boxing match. Big results will come!"

Swift is yet to respond to this semi-dig.
Kimmel, meanwhile, wasn"t done with Trump.
"If it is a syndrome named after Trump, I assume it"s sexually transmitted," Kimmel quipped. "Fortunately help is on the way."

Taylor Swift Fans Fire Back at MTV: You Snubbed Our Girl!
Excuse Taylor Swift supporters, MTV.
They’re gonna let you finish promoting your upcoming Video Music Awards, but first they have something to say:
You suck! Our girl rules! And you totally snubbed her!
Earlier this week, MTV announced its long list of nominees for this year’s VMAs, which will air live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
And Swift was included on this list.
But the singer only received only three nominations: best art direction, best visual effects and best editing for her “Look What You Made Me Do” video.
For Taylor Swift? Someone who has dominated this exact ceremony for years and someone often considered the most successful solo artist of all-time?
Three lowly nominations, especially for a video that marked her musical comeback, was simply stunning and unacceptable to her loyal fans.
This debut single and video from Swift’s “Reputation” album was much heralded and anticipated because Swift had been almost entirely silent for a year prior to its release.
There’s no way she can’t be disappointed by its reception.
Using the hashtag “VmasAreOverParty,” many Internet users made it abundantly clear that they assuredly are.
“EXCUSE ME?” asked one Instagram commentator after the nominations were confirmed, addressing the account @vmas and adding:
“Taylor Swift did not just bathe in diamonds, drag other artists, use a plane, rode a motorcycle, bring back her old personalities, serve us amazing choreo, and break the 24 hour Vevo record for you to just snub her like that.
“she clearly had the video of the year.”
Others agree:
If you remember, Swift disappeared for several months after being called out as a phony and a liar by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
She returned last August in classic Taylor Swift form, calling out Kim and Kanye and her numerous other critics via the aforementioned video and song.
Some folks adored the revenge-themed track, as you can tell from the posts above.
But others have grown tired of Taylor’s act, wishing she would stop playing the victim and stop using every little slight as the basis for her albums.
It’s actually a somewhat interesting debate.

Richard Swift Dies; Musician Was 41 Years Old
Richard Swift, a musician best known for playing with the Shins, Black Keys, and the Arcs, passed away on Tuesday morning, his representative has confirmed.
He was 41 years old.
This sad piece of news was confirmed to Pitchfork, which writes that Swift died in Tacoma, Washington several hours ago.
Swift had been suffering from an undisclosed “life-threatening condition,” insiders have reported, as a GoFundMe was launched last month to pay for his medical expenses.
The musician was also a solo artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
He played with the Shins from 2011–2016; was a touring bassist for the Black Keys in 2014; a drummer for Dan Auerbach’s side project the Arcs; and a keyboardist for Starflyer 59.
Swift’s extensive resume included work with Sharon Van Etten, Guster, Foxygen and others from across various genres.
“Today the world lost one of the most talented musicians I know,” Auerbach wrote on Instagram.
As you can see above, a post on Swift’s Facebook page reads as follows:
“And all the angels sing ‘Que Sera Sera.’”
In just 13 days las month, the aforementioned GoFundMe campaign raised over $ 87,000.
This is what it stated at the time:
“Dear friends of Swift, Richard needs your love and support now as he is up against some tough odds. He has been hospitalized due to a serious medical condition.
“He is receiving excellent care in Tacoma Washington and everything is being done to allow his body time to repair and heal.
“He is uninsured and the cost of the care he is getting is a lot. If you can afford to share the weight of this burden, it would be most deeply appreciated. Anything helps.
“Mostly, thank you for supporting our beloved Richard and his family.”
In an update just a few days later, Swift was seemingly doing a lot better.

“Thank you so much for your support, friends!! We are so grateful you have extended so much generosity and love to our beloved Swift.
“He has been making some progress the last two days and Drs are impressed with the way be has been responding to the care he’s been getting.
“I wanted to let you know I have set up your donations to go directly into Richard’s bank account so that bills can be paid and expenses met while he is staying in the hospital.”
Concluded this post:
“I will continue to post updates here. Thank you again for all your donations!! This campaign will not only help pay medical bills, your kind words and hope are very encouraging.
“It means the world to the whole family.”
Tragically, it’s now evident that Swift never did recover from this illness.

Taylor Swift: Fans Rave at Her Speech for Pride Month!
June is LGBT+ Pride Month, and Taylor Swift knows exactly how to acknowledge her fans.
Her Reputation Tour came to Chicago over the weekend.
As you"ll see in the video below, Taylor walked out on stage and delivered a heartfelt speech.
She addressed her fans who have come out of the proverbial closet. She also addressed those who are not yet "out" and have to hide their authentic selves from at least some of the people in their lives.
Taylor reminded her cheering audience that, as worthy of celebration as the many strides towards equal rights the LGBT+ community has made, there is still a long way to go.
She"s absolutely right. When people come out, it"s often lauded as a "brave choice." Being yourself should not require any bravery, but it does for millions of people.
As you"ll see, Taylor"s fans gave major heart eyes to this thoughtful speech. Take a look:

Taylor Swift: Interviewer Tells Her She Needs to Shower and Fans Go OFF!
Last week, Taylor Swift was dancing to her own music at the BMAs while sandwiched between Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.
A week later, she performs in a hot, humid arena … and her interviewer immediately tells her that she needs to take a shower.
You can see that exchange in the video below. Yikes.
Taylor Swift had just dazzled a crowd of 26,000 at the BBC’s Biggest Weekend in Swansea.
BBC radio deejay Greg James did not sound so impressed.
Speaking to her on camera, he said:
"It"s nice to see you. I think you need to have a shower now."
It was hot and very humid.
Sometimes, when men talk to women about showering, it"s creepy and overtly sexual.
This wasn"t that, thankfully.
But many believed that it was rude.
Taylor, however, doesn"t seem to object.
"I agree," she says.
"And I"m not offended that you said that," she adds.
Well, Maleficent also said that she was not offended, and we all know how that ended.
Taylor explains exactly why she"s write, gesturing to her face and hair.
"There"s a lot going on, and none of it"s good, here."
She still looks great, to be honest.
Fans did not take it as well as Taylor did.
They tweeted their disappointment and their outrage.
"Taylor Swift has her first recorded interview after years of not doing them and she"s told that she needs a shower … "
"I can’t not believe someone had the audacity to tell Taylor Swift to take a shower in her first interview in 2 years.THE NERVE"
Diehard Taylor fans have been sorely missing her during her absence from the spotlight after many listeners and even fans decided to forsake their admiration for her because it was no longer fashionable.
Part of that was from overexposure. Part of that was through some shadiness by Kim Kardashian.
(Of course, as Kim Kardashian"s recent feud with Rhymefest suggests, Kim will go out of her way to destroy anyone who she thinks is a threat to Kanye, even if she isn"t necessarily justified)
Fans are disappointed to see Taylor return to the spotlight to face apparent rudeness from an interviewer.
Greg James joked about the Twitter backlash, tweeting:
"If anyone’s got a video of a cow that gets excited when it sees the Queen, now would be a good time to tweet it."
In other words, he was joking that a harmlessly but viral distraction would be welcome.
However, James also suggests that things are fine between him and Taylor.
When someone tweeted about how James and Taylor go way back, a mourning fan wrote: "Hope you"re right cuz we may have to go another 2 years without another live interview."
James responded:
"She really is right. TS has a great sense of humour and we have known each other for ages and had a good catch up after the interview. It’s all cool."
They really have known each other for years.
"It was hot up there. I almost said we should both go for a shower but after this reaction I’m glad I didn’t! X"
Oh. That self-censorship was definitely the right move.
It is, unfortunately, very natural to fear the worst. It"s also a good and healthy instinct to want to defend someone you admire.
Especially when that person has been besieged by haters who should really know better.
In real life, it"s not super polite to tell someone that they need a shower.
(In general, a good rule is to not comment on something that needs to be changed about someone"s appearance unless they can fix it in five minutes. Food in their teeth? Sure. Bad haircut? Not your business)
But when people know each other, there"s a different dynamic.
If Taylor were angry with Greg James, she"d probably let us all know.

Taylor Swift Was FEELING Kelly Clarkson"s Billboard Music Awards Show
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards were full of beautiful political statements and powerful performances.
But there were other, subtler moments that you may have missed if you glanced away.
One of them featured Taylor Swift rocking out to her own music … as Kelly Clarkson performed it.
Kelly Clarkson has one hell of a voice, and she performed a medley of some of 2017"s biggest hits.
One of those hits, as you can see and hear in the video that we"ve included, is Taylor"s epic revenge song: "Look What You Made Me Do."
Taylor released the song as the single that led up to Reputation dropping.
The song itself parodies how she has been portrayed while also promising revenge against a number of her enemies.
Notably, she had been feuding with Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and with Katy Perry.
When Kelly began singing Taylor"s lyrics, Taylor couldn"t help but sing along.
Taylor was situated in the audience between teen heartthrob Shawn Mendes and 21-year-old heartthrob Camla Cabello.
(Which pretty much makes Taylor the envy of the entire world, doesn"t it?)
In the video, we see Taylor mouth the lyrics while also posing — she can"t help but know that the camera will be on her while Kelly is singing her words.
She quickly loses her composure and bursts into laughter, however.
She was clearly enjoying her time at the awards show. And why shouldn"t she? She had the best-selling album of all of 2017.
Taylor was clearly living her best life.
She was practically joined at the hip with the beautiful Camila Cabello, with whom she has also recently performed during her massive concert tour for Reputation.
Now, being good buddies is all well and good, and we"re glad that Taylor was able to enjoy the music.
But she may have enjoyed some of the music a little too much.
See, when teen singing sensation Shawn Mendes took to the stage to perform "In My Blood," Taylor and Camila could not contain their enthusiasm.
A number of people — and their cameras — notice the two were standing to sway and dance to Shawn"s music.
Most notably … Darren Criss.
Criss recorded the humorous moment on his phone, saying "excuse me, miss" in a polite and certainly too-quiet-to-be-heard tone while showing that Taylor and Camila were obstructing his view.
He wanted to enjoy Shawn"s performance.
Probably because he has two ears and a heart.
Some fans asked why he didn"t also stand, but that would have been passing along the buck and essentially forcing the entire audience to stand.
That"s no fun.
But Taylor and Camila enjoyed their friend"s singing. That"s what matters.
Some artists get very touchy about covers by other artists.
Clearly, Taylor enjoyed Kelly Clarkson"s inclusion of her lyrics.
No medley of 2017 hits would feel right without Taylor"s music, and what better choice than her epic single that promised revenge on her enemies.
They say that success is the best revenge, so she"s already making good on that promise.
