The Voice Recap: A Blast From the Past

The penultimate blind auditions found everyone fighting it out for the last few spots on each of the teams.

There were some big arguments as the coaches vied for that person who would secure them a piece of victory pie. There was even one contestant who worked with a former one.

Let’s break down the performances from the ones who made it to the Battle Rounds.

Chloe Kohanski (23 – Juliet, Tennessee) “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac

Chloe had a lot of similarities to Miley Cyrus, so from the get-go, we wanted her to end up with former Disney princess. Jennifer Hudson wanted Chloe and was ready to fight with Miley for her.

Not physically, of course, but with a war of words. It was embarrassing, but it showed just how Chloe managed to impress everyone throughout her performance.

She went with Team Miley.

Dennis Drummond (27 – Nashville, Tennessee) “She Talks to Angels” by The Black Crowes

Fun fact: Dennis plays backup guitar for Adam Wakefield, whom Blake previously coached on the show. Now, Dennis is ready to branch out and start his solo path.

His vocal ability was there, and it resulted in Adam and Blake duking it out for who would get to have the pleasure of taking Dennis to the Battle Rounds.

In the end, he stuck with who he knew had a proven track record, and that was Blake.

Ignatius Carmouche (22 – Opelousas, Louisiana) “Latch” by Sam Smith

Ignatius started slow, but his performance gathered steam towards the end, and that resulted in a swiveling chair turns from both Jennifer and Blake.

Adam apparently gave him tips before he appeared on the show, but that did not mean Adam was ready to commit to coaching him.

Jennifer took the win with this one.

Rebecca Brunner (22 – Mason, Michigan) “Believer” by Imagine Dragon

Rebecca had one of the best performance of the night, and could only muster a one-chair turn. What a travesty, but at least she got one.

We’re not entirely sold on Blake being the one to nurture her talent, but stranger things have happened. This could be one of the winners right here.

Brandon Brown (19 – Bronx, New York) “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles

It sucks when a decent singer opts for a boring song, and that’s exactly what happened here. Everything about his performance was hindered by the song.

His voice did sound similar to Adam’s so that probably explains why they are working together. Work on those song choices, Adam.

Whitney Fenimore (28 – Tulsa, Oklahoma) “Hold on We’re Going Home” by Drake ft. Majid Jordan

Turning a Drake song into something that sounds country should be given a standing ovation. Like, the rendition sounded awesome, and we cannot wait to see what’s next for her.

Adam was reminded of Christina Grimmie and snapped her up for his team.

Illiana Viramontes (18 – Brentwood, California) “New Soul” by Yael Naim

We were not sold by this first performance. It was all over the place, and the song was wrong. There were better people who did not get through, but Miley seems to be letting some people float on through.

Will she be able to turn this contestant into a success story? We’re not so sure.

Meagan McNeal (31 – Chicago, Illinois) “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd

Jennifer was the sole coach to turn around for Meagan, and we actually think this was for the best. Meagan had solid vocals, and that was backed up by charisma.

Jennifer got her by default, and we are glad about it.

Jon Mero (31 – Atlanta, Georgia) “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars

Jon’s versatile voice caught the attention of the coaches, and they all seemed like they wanted to steal him. His voice was the best of the night, but he ultimately chose Team Adam.

Okay, what did you think of the people who got through?

The Voice Recap: Did Jennifer Hudson Throw a Shoe?

Which potential winners made their mark on the judges with the fourth round of Blind Auditions?

The Voice continued with its usual Tuesday installment, and there was no shoe throwing on this installment, so it was not quite as exciting as the previous episode.

Still, Jennifer Hudson is an exciting addition to the coaching panel. Dare we say this is the best panel the show has ever had?

After all these years, there are four likable people sitting in those spinning chairs.

Let’s break down the performances from the episode.

Anthony Alexander – “Redbone”

Know the feeling you get when someone opens their mouth to sing, and their voice is just mesmerizing? That’s the exact feeling we got when Anthony put his spin on “Redbone.” He has a lot of star quality and would probably be able to make the jump to a full-fledged artist without many changes.

He went with Team Adam in the end, and we can’t help but think this was a good move.

Sophia Bollman – “Invincible”

Sophia went with a song that could show off her vocal prowess in a big way. She also had charm, sass and everything you would expect from a young artist. There were some worrying notes, but with some work, Sophia could be up there with some of the best.

She went with Team Miley, and that was a good move. We could imagine them doing a duet.

Karli Webster – “You’re So Vain”

You win some; you lose some. Karli’s voice was not as well-versed as well as the others who made it through on the episode. There is some talent there, but will she be able to weather the storm and defy the odds?

She went with Team Miley.

Stephan Marcellus – “Take Me to Church”

Stephan had a unique voice, but the performance was not all that. It picked up considerably in the second half. But, were nerves to blame, or is there something else going on here?

Either way, Jennifer will find out since he’s on her team now.

Emily Luther – “Summertime”

Emily was not a fan of how bad the record business was when she was part of it, so she’s trying her hand at The Voice, and it seems like she’s in the right place. Her talent will be nurtured by Adam.

Okay, that’s a wrap, you guys!

What did you think of the performances?

The Voice Recap: Another Four-Chair Turn?

The Blind Auditions continued on the latest episode of NBC’s hit series, The Voice.

With limited spots on each of the teams up for grabs, it was becoming more difficult for potential singers to advance to the Battle Rounds of the competition series.

Despite some true duds, there were some people who got through that truly deserved it. Yes, there were some who did not advance who probably should have, but singing is all very subjective.

Let’s run down the people who made the cut for the Battle Rounds.

Adam Cunningham –  “Midnight Rider”

The 38-year-old started with a decent performance, but the judges were not sold until well into the performance. It’s amazing how quickly a few notes can change the whole thing, and we witnessed that happen with Adam.

Blake wanted him from the get-go, and Blake always gets what he wants. Adam joined his team.

Hannah Mrozak – “Starving”

Hannah’s brother committed suicide, and his wish before all of that was for her to audition for the show. She definitely has the vocal ability there. That was evident from her first performance.

She made her way to Team Adam, but we have no idea at this stage whether he will be able to nurture her ability and make her into something better.

Shilo Gold –  “Stay With Me, Baby”

This 26-year-old has a solid voice, and it got Miley and Jennifer fighting over her. The Denver native ultimately went with Team Miley, and we could definitely see this working out in a big way. Go get ‘em, Miley.

Noah Mac – “Way Down We Go”

Noah is a 17-year-old who likes good music, and also likes to sing along to it. Like, it’s difficult to find his vocal range in any of today’s biggest singers. He is one to watch. Oh, and we should probably tell Liam Hemsworth that Miley is also one to watch.

Miley did call Noah hot. Is this a talent competition or a beauty competition?

Davon Fleming – “Me and Mrs. Jones”

When someone comes on and says they are going to sing their face off, it usually paves the way for a horrific audition, but in Davon’s case, it made Blake say “You’re gonna be in the finale.”

The performance was astounding and gave us all the feels, but Davon went with Team Jennifer. That’s a wise move.

Kathrina Feigh – “Big White Room”

There was something about Kathrina’s opening performance that left a lot to be desired. It was underwhelming, and there were others who did not make a place that probably should have.

Alas, Jennifer saw some potential and took her under her wing.

Addison Agen – “Jolene”

This 16-year-old has parents who are very involved in music, so it made sense that it would run in the family. Her voice was great, and she is someone we could imagine making it far.

She went with Team Miley, and that should be a good fit.

Adam Pearce – “Hot-Blooded”

This was Adam’s second time on the show. He previously appeared on Season 12 and was let go at his Blind Audition. This time, however, Adam noticed a marked improvement and snapped him up.

Moriah Formica – “Crazy on You”

This episode was filled with promising young singers, and 16-year-old Moriah was another solid option. Adam seemed a bit on the fence with her, but Miley knew a good singer when one was in her presence.

That’s a wrap, you guys.

The Voice continues tonight on NBC!

The Voice Recap: A Diamond in the Rough

The Voice may be bringing a bit of the same after 13 seasons on the air, but Jennifer Hudson is a welcome addition to the panel. She oozes positivity, and that’s something required when coaching many hopefuls through the various stages of the process.

It was Blind Auditions Night Two, and we had some very solid performances to run down.

Who made it through to the next round? Let’s run down the performances below …

Keisha Renee  “I Can’t Stop Loving You”

Keisha’s song choice was on point. At this stage, it’s important to show off your vocal range, and Keisha definitely accomplished that goal.

She was confident and knew exactly what she needed to do to get to where she wanted in her career. Blake Shelton was big on her and quickly snapped her up for his team.

Maharasyi – “Tell Me Something Good”

While Keisha chose the perfect song, the same could not be said for Maharasyi. You would think with her already having a recording career, she would know which song to sing to show off her singing voice.

Luckily for her, Jennifer saw the potential and turned her chair around, but we can’t help but think it was a mistake.

Dylan Gerard – “Say You Won’t Let Go”

Dylan did not sound great, but Jennifer helped him out and told him to change some things. This helped him sound way better, and Adam noticed this.

So, Adam got another one to join him!

Red Marlow – “Swingin"”

Red had a great country voice, and he had the perfect song to go along with it. We could definitely imagine him as a recording artist, and the coaches thought so.

Ultimately, he joined Team Blake.

Ashland Craft – “You Are My Sunshine”

Ashland was the best singer of the night. It was perhaps one of the best auditions ever, and that was partly down to her confidence about the whole thing.

The coaches took notice, and she ultimately joined Team Miley. Miley is the best place for Ashland because we could see them dueting together.

So, that’s a wrap on Night 2, you guys. Which performers did you like best?

The Voice Recap: It"s Back!

Who will be crowned the next winner of The Voice?

We may be getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but there were a string of solid singers who took to the stage on Monday night’s Season 13 premiere of the show.

The revised judging panel consisted of Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson, and they were ready to find the next winning voice.

Jennifer Hudson already proved she had what it took to be an awesome coach on The Voice: UK, so we’re glad she has taken up residence on the stateside panel.

Let’s run down the people who made it from the Blind Auditions to the Battles.

Chris Weaver – “Try a Little Tenderness

The coaches were taken with Chris from the very first note. It was clear Adam wanted to go in for the kill straight off the bat, and it’s hardly surprising.

Jennifer was the lucky coach who got to add Chris to her team.

Mitchell Lee – “Hold My Hand”

Mitchell has a great story to tell, and he also has a solid voice. However, there were parts that could have been better, but Blake decided he was worth taking the risk on.

Will it pay off? We sure hope so!

Janice Freeman – “Radioactive”

Here’s the thing: Janice comes off as a nice enough individual, but the song choice was atrocious. Thankfully, she managed to right the ship before it was too late and secured a spot with Team Miley.

Shi’Ann Jones – “Drown in My Own Tears”

Jennifer Hudson wasted no time in turning around for Shi’Ann, and we cannot blame her. The vocals from this kid were just outstanding. She’s most definitely one to watch this season.

Dave Crosby – “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”

Dave’s voice was just not cutting it, so it was a shock to see that coaches actually turned around when some better vocalists were let go. He joined Team Adam in the end.

Esera Tuaolo- “Rise Up”

Esara was the biggest surprise of the opening episode. He had the charm, charisma and everything he needed to become a star. His voice was in fine form, and his talent will be nurtured on Team Blake.

Brandon Showell – “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”

Brandon turned in a solid performance, but it was a bit all over the place because of his nerves. That’s something that will need to be rectified quickly to stay in the process. He joined Team Adam.

Lucas Holliday – “This Woman’s Work”

Lucas was once a viral sensation across the internet, and he proved in his first performance that it was no fluke. His performance was breathtaking, and it was quite the surprise. He joined team Jennifer.

Brooke Simpson – “Stone Cold”

Jennifer was very positive about Brooke, and it was because of her vocals. “I thought I knew singing,” said Jennifer, “until you just came out here and did that.” Yes, Jennifer snapped her up.

What do you think of the new season?

The Voice Results: Your Season 12 Champion is ...

After months of Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts, Live Playoffs and grueling final eliminations, The Voice Season 12 has come to an end.

When The Voice results were tallied for the final time in the first of the NBC show’s two 2017 iterations, who would emerge with the title?

Going by previous week’s and Monday night’s The Voice top four performances, Chris Blue should have this in the bag … maybe. Probably?

Based on iTunes rankings, Lauren Duski may have the inside track, while Jesse Larson and Aliyah Moulden are both slightly longer shots.

Season 12’s finale, like all others before it, featured a lineup of live performances from the contestants, coaches and other huge stars.

Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine all got in on the action, as did ex-coaches Miley Cyrus and Cee Lo Green.

Team Adam’s former sensation Mark Isaiah opened up the night with a rendition of “Despacito” featuring Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

We were just getting started, too.

Team Gwen’s Brennley Brown sang with Rascal Flatts, while Team Adam’s finalist Jesse Larson teamed up with Cee Lo Green himself.

Levine has said that Larson’s singing reminds him of Green, so the pairing was fitting; Levine and Larson’s close bond was also highlighted.

Little Big Town and Team Blake finalist Lauren Duski performed together, followed by Gwen Stefani and her former protege Hunter Plake.

Their stripped-down performance of the No Doubt classic “Don’t Speak” made up for the fact that Gwen didn’t have an artist in the finale.

Alessia Cara and Zedd performed, followed by a duet of “Everybody Hurts” from Team Alicia’s finalist Chris Blue and ex-coach Usher.

Chris Stapleton sang his single “Either Way.”

Next up was Team Blake’s TSoul and Team Alicia’s Vanessa Ferguson, both of whom teamed up with the legendary Gladys Knight.

Miley Cyrus then sang her new single “Malibu,” dedicating it to Ariana Grande and all those killed in the attack on Manchester Arena.

Cara took the stage with Shelton’s finalist Aliyah Moulden, a terrific tandem followed up by future The Voice coach Jennifer Hudson.

Finally, it was time for The Voice results.

Team Adam’s Larson came in fourth place, with Team Blake’s Moulden in third place, a result we pretty much predicted from the get-go.

As for the winner: Team Alicia’s Chris Blue took the title, and Team Blake’s Duski came in second in what had to be a very close race.

Keys bested Shelton, and Blue was overcome with emotion as closed out the show, and another epic season, with his original song.

Did the voters get this one right?!

The Voice Recap: It All Comes Down to This

After months of non-stop do-or-die performances, The Voice’s final four contestants of Season 12 were ready to leave it all on the stage.

All are worthy competitors, to be sure, but only one can be named The Voice when The Voice results are unveiled this evening on NBC.

Who will it be? Let’s break down last night …

Aliyah Moulden

Aliyah performed two solo performances and a duet with Blake Shelton. Her first performance was with an original song of her own. It was titled, “Never Be Lonely.” The thing that made this a good idea was that Aliyah’s place on the show has been thrown into question several times this season.

The song was alright, and it perfectly showcased her talent, but it sounded pretty generic. I like my winners to have something different to offer, but Aliyah seems like she’s not ready to change her sound.

Aliyah’s second solo performance was “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder. Much like her first performance, it felt like it had been performed before. There was nothing to really set it apart from the others.

The vocals were good, but it was a boring performance, one that will likely see Aliyah exiting the show in fourth place.

Aliyah’s duet with Blake was just all over the place. They sang to “Dancing In The Street, ” and it was mediocre at best. At this stage of the competition, the acts should be owning that stage, but Aliyah has just given us more of the same.

Jesse Larson

Jesse went with “Taking It To The Streets” by The Doobie Brothers. Unlike Aliyah, Jesse owned the song and made some subtle changes to make it his own.

The performance was fun to watch and listen to. Jesse’s second performance found him debuting Chris Stapleton’s new song “Woman.” Yes, this gave him an unfair edge, but it was still a solid performance.

When it came to performing a duet with Adam Levine, both men sang “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince. As far as duets go, it was alright.

The duets are never really good on this show, but this was decent. I could definitely see Jesse in the final two. Time will tell.

Lauren Duski

Lauren went with “The Dance” by Garth Brooks. It was a bit all over the place. Lauren is usually a reliable performer, but this one was anything but reliable.

It was almost as though her confidence had disappeared, and that’s not a good thing.

Her second number was “Deja Vu.” It was a spectacular song, one that negated her horrible previous performance. She owned it.

She then performed “There’s a Tear In My Beer” by Hank Williams. It was one of the better duets on the evening, but Lauren never got a lot of time on the microphone.

Lauren should make it to the final two.

Chris Blue

Chris went with an original song, “Money On You.” This performance should have been so much more. It was peppered with portions that made me think this was not the right song for him. The vocals were alright, but the overall performance was not great.

His second solo of the night was “Rhythm Nation” by Janet Jackson. This was a solid performance when benchmarked next to the other solo. Maybe Chris should stick to non-original songs.

His duet with Alicia was to “Diamonds and Pearls” by Prince. Let’s just say Alicia should be winning The Voice. Chris could not match up to her vocals.

It was obvious who was the pro and who was not. Chris might miss out on a spot in the Final 2.

Who do you think will win?

The Voice Results: Who Survived the Bloodbath?

Monday night, The Voice top eight performances showed America everything the remaining contenders have left in the tank on NBC.

Only four would survive … making this the mother of all results shows. So who would outlast the rest and who would fall by the wayside?

In The Voice’s ever-changing, never-uninteresting format:

Three artists of the final eight automatically advanced to the finale, while the bottom two were eliminated right off the bat Tuesday night.

That left the remaining three artists had to battle it out for the instant save, so in that way it ended on the same note as previous weeks.

The first artist to advance to the Season 12 finale, as per The Voice results unveiled last night, was … Team Alicia’s Chris Blue!

Chris secured his second consecutive four-coach standing ovation the previous night, so that was hardly a surprise, or a fluke.

Next up and on her way to the final episode of the season was Team Blake’s Lauren Duski. A job very well done by the singer.

Carson Daly then announced the results that sent a third artist straight through to next week … Team Blake’s Aliyah Moulden.

And then there were six … after Team Blake’s TSoul and Team Alicia’s Vanessa Ferguson were both eliminated just like that.

That left the fans with the following three:

1. Team Adam’s Jesse Larson

2. Team Gwen’s Hunter Plake

3. Team Gwen’s Brennley Brown

Three singers, one spot and one song.

Brown performed Demi Lovato’s ‘Warrior,” putting her own stamp on it and showcasing the range of talent that got her to this point.

Plake performed “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic, with some creativity that many felt was lacking from his performance Monday.

Larson performed “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton, and his impressive vocals were enough to earn those coveted tweets.

Jesse advanced to the finale, keeping Team Adam’s hopes alive and eliminating Team Gwen in one fell swoop. So the field is set.

The top four artists will compete in next week’s The Voice finale. What did you think of The Voice results? Did America get it right?

The Voice Recap: Okay It"s Crunch Time Now

The Voice has narrowed its field from hundreds of would-be stars to eight elite competitors, and Monday night, the stakes were high.

Higher than ever, in fact, given the format.

After The Voice results last Tuesday, it’s abundantly clear that no one is safe, and this week, the margin of error will be next to none:

Only four will make it to the finals.

With that said, let’s break down all the performances from this epic musical night and handicap who we think will make it to the finale.

Hunter Plake

Hunter went with “With or Without You” by U2. The judges seemed to take a shine to the performance, but he chose one of those songs that almost everyone likes. It was not entirely the best song to open the show with, but it was still an alright performance.

Will it be enough to send Hunter to the finals? I’m not so sure. It all comes down to the other performances on the night.

Vanessa Ferguson and Chris Blue

In an effort to fill the two-hour slot the show paired some of the contestants up for performances. Vanessa and Chris went with “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.

They actually sang together really well. Like, it could pass for a professional duet. I don’t know whether that’s a testament to Alicia Keys or them.

TSoul

TSoul went with “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin. This was a surprisingly lackluster performance for him. He’s been so strong all season long and did not choose the right time to falter.

It resulted in him screeching the final verse. It was not good. Will he be saved? I’m not so sure.

Brennley Brown

Brennley went with “Suds in the Bucket” by Sara Evans. It was great. Brennley has proven time and time again that she has the vocal chops to succeed in any situation.

Blake and Gwen were quick to pick out the flaws, but it was good.

Hunter Plake and Aliyah Moulden

The second team up of the night performed “Let It Go” by James Bay. No, it was not the song from Frozen, and we are so thankful for that.

This was a horrible performance. Both performers just don’t sound good together, and that’s a shame.

Lauren Duski

Lauren went with “Ghost in this House” by Shenandoah. It was a riveting performance that showed off her vocal range.

Should Lauren advance to the final? Definitely.

TSoul and Jesse Larson

This duo went with “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder. Like the duo performance that came before it, it was terrible.

Chris Blue

Chris went with “Take Me to the King” by Angela Mann. It was so much better than some of his recent performances. Everything about it was great, and I can’t wait until he makes it to the finale.

Vanessa Ferguson

Vanessa being in the bottom three last week was just uncalled for. She has been a solid competitor all season long, and there were others who should have been in the bottom.

This week, she performed “Superstar” by Luther Vandross. It was another solid performance that proved why she was still on the show.

Brennley Brown and Lauren Duski

A poor song choice ruined this performance. They went with “A Good Hearted Woman” by LeAnn Rimes. The two country women should have turned in a solid performance, but it was all over the place.

Jesse Larson

Jesse went with “I Was Wrong” by Chris Stapleton. It was not that great. At this stage, it should have been much better. It was all over the place, and he will probably wind up in the bottom three.

Aliyah Moulden

Aliyah went with “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe, and it was a solid performance. It was slower, but it complimented her voice well.

She should make it to the finale.

What did you think of the performances?

Kelly Clarkson Joins The Voice, Sticks It to American Idol

So much for all that Idol chatter.

A few days after rumors surfaced that Kelly Clarkson would be a judge on the revamped version of American Idol, the original winner of has come out and stunned the television universe:

She will, indeed, be a judge on an upcoming season of a beloved, long-time running singing competition.

But it will not be the show that made her famous.

It will be The Voice.

Clarkson made the unexpected announcement on Thursday afternoon alongside Blake Shelton on his Facebook page as part of a live video.

The two artists will joined on season 14 by fellow longtime coach Adam Levine, while a fourth coach will be confirmed at a later date.

“I’m so excited to join The Voice at NBC,” Clarkson said in a statement.

She added:

“We’ve gone back and forth about a role as a coach for years, but the timing hasn’t been right until now.

“I have always loved appearing on the show as an adviser or performer and established an amazing relationship with the network during my Christmas special.

“I can’t wait to turn my chair and see the faces of up-and-coming artists and provide them with the help and support they’ve needed to break into the industry.”

Proving she’s ready for the typical weekly trash talk among panelists, Clarkson concluded as follows:

“Watch out Shelton, I’m comin’ to win!”

There’s also been talk, meanwhile, that Jennifer Hudson will come on board The Voice Season 13 as a judge.

Said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment, in a statement of his own:

“Kelly has been a part of The Voice family for many years as an adviser and performer. We are thrilled she has chosen to join us as a coach to mentor the next generation through our unique vocal boot camp.

“Every time Kelly Clarkson sings you are reminded what an incredible voice really is.

“We are looking forward to the sound of Kelly Clarkson on The Voice.”

It was announced on Tuesday that ABC has agreed on a deal to revive American Idol.

It will most likely air on Sunday nights next spring, with Ryan Seacrest most likely returning as host.

“American Idol on ABC…that has a nice ring to it,” Disney co-chairman Ben Sherwood said about this move, adding:

“Idol is an entertainment icon, and now it will air where it belongs, in ABC’s lineup of addictive fan favorites alongside Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor. America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Idol.

The Voice Results: Who Got the Boot ... and the Instant Save!?

The Voice bid farewell to another hopeful Tuesday as the field continues to narrow and the contenders are starting to see some separation.

Or are they? Did the voters have another surprise in store?

For the second consecutive week, last Tuesday’s The Voice results saw Mark Isaiah capture the Instant Save and a last-second reprieve.

Was this the episode in which his luck finally ran out?

He’d have to talk the tightrope again, as Tuesday’s double-elimination night on NBC’s The Voice sent two artists home, not just one.

The bottom three artists all had to sing for the instant save, which only spared one of the three and sent them on to The Voice semifinals.

The remaining eight artists will then be cut to just four before the finale, in this ever-changing and seemingly random format. Anyway.

Coaches Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine were all sweating this one out, as the iTunes results were tight.

Soon, there were sighs of relief as Carson Daly announced that Team Blake’s Aliyah Moulden and Team Alicia’s Chris Blue both advanced.

America also voted to save Team Blake’s Lauren Duski and Team Gwen’s Hunter Plake and bring them through to the following episode.

The next two to earn a ticket to the semis were Team Adam’s Jesse Larson and Team Gwen’s Brennley Brown. Gwen was 2/2 Tuesday.

The last artist to automatically make it? Team Blake’s TSoul, making it 3/3 for Shelton’s remaining artists even before the moment of truth.

Singing for their lives last night?

Team Adam’s Lilli Passero and Mark Isaiah (his familiar role)and Team Alicia’s Vanessa Ferguson. Only one could prevail … or survive.

First up was Passero, singing “Stormy Weather.” Isaiah, no stranger to this position, shook things up with a take on “Sorry” by Justin Bieber.

Ferguson closed out the instant save performances with a rendition of “For Once in My Life” by Stevie Wonder in a bid to save herself.

Would she be able to get it done?

Keys and Levine both pleaded with viewers on behalf of their artists, but even Adam couldn’t rescue his man for the third time in a row.

By virtue of winning the live vote on Twitter, Ferguson survived to join The Voice Season 12’s top eight next week in the hit competition.

What do you think? Did America get it right with The Voice results? And who do you want to see triumph in the semifinals next week?
