Some actual good news out of the world of politics today as Chelsea Clinton – the daughter of former president Bill Clinton and current presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton – has announced that she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting their second child.
Chelsea shared the news on social media moments ago, tweeting, “Next summer, Charlotte is going to be a big sister! Feeling very blessed & grateful this holiday season.”
Hillary Clinton commented on the tweet, writing:
“Your dad and I could not be happier for you, Marc, and Charlotte. We’re so excited to meet our second grandchild!”
Chelsea gave birth to daughter Charlotte in September of 2014. Democratic front-runner Hillary has frequently gushed about the toddler on the campaign trail and cheerfully discusses her duties as a grandmother in interviews.
A former correspondent for NBC News, Clinton has stepped away from her career to focus on being a mother.
Following her announcement on Twitter, Chelsea elaborated on her exciting news in a Facebook post:
“Being Charlotte’s parents has been the most joyous, meaningful and loving experience of our lives and we are very excited about growing our family in the new year,” the 35-year-old wrote.
We’d like to offer our congratulations to Chelsea and Marc on their impending bundle of joy.
Sadly, the newest addition to the Clinton family will be breastfeeding in November of 2016, and thus, unable to assist with her grandmother’s campaign.
