Chinese Detergent Ad is the Most Racist Thing Ever

There are some things in life that are questionably raised.

Like Justin Bieber in dreadlocks. Many people on the Internet continue to debate that one.

But there is no such debate to be had regarding the following video, which is so over-the-top with its racism that even Tila Tequila would not share it on her Instagram account.

The footage is a commercial for China’s Qiaobi laundry detergent.

Everyone from Paste Magazine to The Daily Mail has shared it online, each outlet aghast that it actually exists.

In the ad, we see an Asian woman doing laundry. So far so good, right? Not much racism there.

She is then confronted by an African-American gentlemen, who"s face is covered in paint and who is trying to flirt with the young woman.

She seems interested. She invites him to come closer.

Are we on the verge of a cheap porn here? Will some music start playing in the background and some banging commence against the dryer?

Nope. Not at all.

As soon as the poor guy moves in for a kiss, his supposed paramour stuffs a detergent pack into his mouth and shoves him into the washer.

She then waits excitedly for the cycle to end and pulls out a freshly laundered, pale-skinned Asian man.

Shanghaiist writes that that the commercial is being shown on TV and in movie theaters in China.

The website also says the following about the spot:

“Thanks to traditional beauty standards valuing white skin, many Chinese people have a well-established phobia of dark skin which unfortunately also breeds racist attitudes towards people of African descent, who are viewed by some as ‘dirty’ simply because of their skin tone.”

So why try to fight that stereotype, right, Qiaobi? Let"s play right into it instead!

Check out the insane commercial now:
