Neighbor Calls Police on 12-Year-Old Black Entrepreneur for Mowing the Lawn

While of course no child should have to work, when kids want to sell water on a hot day or mow some lawns for cash, that"s admirable. But some people will always try to ruin it.

An enterprising 12-year-old boy started up his own lawn business, but had the police called on him by a client"s neighbor. It was an outrageous story.

In a heartwarming twist, things turned out okay — and business is booming.

Maple Heights is a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. It has a lot of homes with a lot of lawns and a lot of grass that needs to be trimmed.

Reggie Fields is the enterprising 12-year-old boy runs Mr. Reggie"s Lawn Cutting Service.

That"s not a joke — because this small landscaping crew is not a one-person operation.

Fields runs the small company that also employs his cousins, who work starting as early as sunrise.

They were mowing the lawn of a resident named Lucille Holt when one of her neighbors called the police.

As Holt revealed in a video to Facebook that soon became widely circulated, her neighbors called the police because a narrow strip of grass that Fields mowed was technically in their yard and not in Holt"s.

Plenty of neighbors can be petty, or simply strict about defending which parts of a property belong to them. Most would simply come outside and tell the landscapers to avoid their part of the lawn — not call the police.

(She actually lists a number of occassions on which these neighbors have called the police, and while one was over concerns of domestic violence, it sounds like they have also made 9-1-1 calls that most would consider frivilous)

It is strange for anyone to call the police on children — one of whom is as young as nine — for crossing an imaginary boundary while being helpful.

"I"m so glad you"re out here doing something positive," Holt said of the enterprising young people. "You should not be getting the police called on you because you"re out here cutting grass.

While everything turned out okay, it was not lost on Lucille Holt — or, really, on anyone reading the story — that calling the police on a young black child can have horrible, permanent consequences.

We have all read too many heartbreaking horror stories of innocent, unarmed children dying because the wrong person was wearing a badge.

Fortunately, this situation did not become a tragedy.

In fact, the police officers who arrived were quick to realize that this had nothing to do with the hardworking children.

And the police seemed intent on diffusing the situation of tension between neighbors before things escalate. Which is exactly what you want to see from law enforcement.

It is, of course, the responsibility of the homeowner to inform their landscapers where the property boundaries are to avoid conflict.

Reggie Fields was apologetic for the role that he inadvertently played in this squabble between neighbors.

"They said I was cutting their grass. I didn"t know it," Fields says. "I was like, that"s a shame. I didn"t know."

Reggie"s mother says that this story has been a massive boon for his business.

"Some people are calling from out of town, saying, "Can you come cut my grass?" she reports.

It is no surprise that many people in the Cleveland area want to encourage these young entrepreneurs. Especially after someone chose to put them at potential risk.

There are also businesses and other property owners interested in hiring his team.

When a story goes viral like this, it creates an easy opportunity for good PR for local businesses. They look good, they help someone, and they get their grass trimmed.

Reggie Fields" cash app is $ mrreggies18. His service line is 216-482-4308.

Reggie will be entering the seventh grade, but he already has plans for how to continue his business in the fall — by purchasing more rakes so that they can pick up leaves.

For the winter, he plans to purchase snow shovels. That"s amazing.

We hope that people exercise careful judgment when contacting emergency services.

Adele Surprises 12-Year-Old Fan With Visit to Her Bedside

Just when you thought Adele couldn’t get any more amazing, she goes and out-amazings herself.

Yesterday, we reported that during a concert in Belfast, she brought a woman onstage to help her fan propose to her boyfriend in epic fashion.

And today, the Daily Mail reports that Adele took some time between tour dates to pay a surprise visit to 12-year-old Rebecca Gibney, a superfan bedridden with health problems that include cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Rebecca’s mother, Tracy, had campaigned on Facebook and Twitter to get the superstar singer to FaceTime with or send a video message to her daughter, who she says listens to Adele’s music from the moment she gets up in the morning until bedtime.

She even started a petition on Change.org, pleading. “Please please help for my beautiful sick little daughter.”

However, Adele thought FaceTime wasn’t enough for this little girl.

Instead, the songstress stopped by the family’s home and spent some time chatting with her young fan at her bedside.

Tracy expressed her gratitude on Twitter by posting photos of Rebecca and her hero together, tweeting, “I am so blessed and thankful that Adele came to my home today.”

“I am in shock, I got my baby’s dream to come true,” Tracy told Belfast Live. “She was so nice, she could not have been nicer.”

“Adele was sat beside her and she was talking to me and my other kid, she was so nice for wee Rebecca,” she added. “I can not put it into words what it means.”

We’re so happy to see Rebecca’s dream come true.

Adele, you are one class act.

Jelani Maraj: Brother of Nicki Minaj Charged With Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl

Jelani Maraj, the 37-year-old brother of Nicki Minaj, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old.

Maraj was arraigned last night and released after posting $ 100,000 bail.

Nicki has stated in the past that she’s extremely close with her older brother. The rapper even shelled out $ 30,000 to pay for his wedding back in August.

The night of his nuptials, Nicki posted the above photo of herself with Jelani, along with the following caption:

“I would cross the ocean for [Jelani]. I love my brother so much man. Can’t believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk.

“May God bless him and his union. Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brother smile.”

The news of Jelani’s arrest comes on the heels of reports that Nicki is developing a sitcom based on her family and her childhood.

It’s not known if the show will feature a character based on Jelani.

Nicki is said to be standing by her brother, and she reportedly plans on paying for his legal defense.

2016 may find Nicki spending a lot of time in court. The rapper was sued by ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels just last month, and the case has yet to be settled.

Brandi Glanville Encourages 12-Year-Old Son to Ask Girls If They"re Virgins, Continues to Be an Idiot

Brandi Glanville is a mom. If you follow her career or her bonkers Twitter account then you probably already knew that, but it’s a strange thing to actually contemplate.

A woman whose public image is defined by hurling wine glasses and criticizing the smell of other people’s vaginas is responsible for the proper upbringing of two humans.

We’re not trying to suggest that Brandi is a bad mom, frankly, we have no idea. We are saying, however, that it’s not surprising that her approach to parenting is similar to her approach to everything else in life.

Sometimes her honesty is refreshing; other times her insistence on saying whatever the hell pops into her head is seriously cringe-worthy.

Take, for example, the “good boyfriend homework” that Brandi recently assigned her 12-year-old before his first date (and, of course, tweeted to her many followers):

We remind you again that the kid is 12, which means his date should consist of holding hands at the Goosebumps movie, not asking the poor girl if she’s DTF.

If this girl comes home and tells her parents that Brandi’s son asked if she’s a virgin, he’s gonna be the first kid in 6th grade with a restraining order.

Naturally, Brandi experienced some backlash for the tweet, and she made a somewhat decent argument in her own defense:

“Listen people !!Our ages 15&16 are the new 12yrs- thanks to the Internet-if you’re in denial about this do some major research,” she tweeted.

Yes, Brandi we agree that kids are growing up faster than ever, but “Are you a virgin?” is a pretty weird first date question at any age, ya dig?

Look, your sons already have LeAnn Rimes as a stepmother and a mom who doesn’t know the difference between “there” and “their.”

Don’t put them at a further disadvantage by teaching them how to be total creepsters at a young age.
